So we got the announcement some of us were expecting, but even those anticipating the next batch of SF6 DLC probably weren't expecting TERRY BOGARD AND MAI SHIRANUI! Yes, SF has its first ever real guest characters, and its from those naughty SNK folks who have been known to pester capcom in the past! So lets talk about what this reveal means on its face, and for the future!
Im very surprised that they added Ken with a hat as a playable character in SF6.

@@HighLifeProds17 I imagine he would 'teach' the avatar as a 'replacement' body considering the fact that the Avatar can not only use Pyscho Power effortlessly but also the Satsui No Hadou. When you think about it from the lore standpoint the Avatar is pretty damn strong.
By the end of world tour your rival gets murdered and your avatar is like "damn, I still don't know what the meaning of strength is". Now we've been training with Aki, Ed, and Akuma, the villain arc is in full swing.
I'm not gonna lie, I was excited until I saw 4 characters in a matter of a year again. They reaaaaallly needed to do at least 5-6 to make it worth the wait. 4 a year is ridiculous.

On the one hand, not expanding your world by having 2 crossover characters and regressing to Bison is iffy. On the other hand HOLY SHIT TERRY BOGARD IN STREET FIGHTER.

This is THE FIRST ever guest characters in the mainline SF games, This is so huge cause now the options of guest characters appearing in the future aren't 0. We all thought Street fighter would never do it but they finally decided to add guest characters
Yeah. I think the closest we got to a "guest" was Akira.
And to get two of the biggest genre draws at that, and when SNK is prepping their next big game too. Would love to know one day which side pushed more for this.

@@dee_dee4640since Fatal Fury and AoF were created by the same two guys who created Street Fighter, so in a way Fatal Fury is connected to Street Fighter.
This means it's a large interconnected game universe that start with Street Fighter and covers Final Fight, Fatal Fury, AoF, Slam Masters, Rival School and even the Vampire series too.

I'm all for guest characters, but 2 in one season is a bit much this early when we're missing so many core characters.
They're trying to kill this game like DBFZ at this rate. I'm seriously not a fan.
With World Tour content, 4 is probably all they can manage in a season. It sucks, but hopefully Season 3 fills in some of the gaps.

Who needs core characters for a great game. The memberberries crowd with fighters kill me. Its one thing if Marvel vs. Capcom doesn't have classic characters. But SF can survive without core character

If you will also notice this is the Real Bout Fatal Fury Mai costume. The one with , no socks(tabi) . First time in a long while this has been used. Even SNK hasn't used this costume since Real Bout. Yes, Capcom know their audience since they specifically got this costume and not the now standard KoF one. lol

I feel the same. If i was in charge of the story, i would at least acknowledge Nash's contribution in defeating him. Maybe thanks to his sacrifice, Bison's "soul" is at its limits + all the new Shadaloo remnants are at odds with his return. Definitely curious to see how he interacts with JP.

I don’t think anyone can defend it from a lore perspective. But it seems like with all the world tour stuff they are just taking the franchise into a direction where its just better to ignore the lore. Like, Akuma being buddy with a random character, JP being our master after we defeat him in the story, Juri opening up about her past after giving her a wrench… it’s just better not to think about it.

In all seriousness, Terry’s inclusion in smash is what introduced me into the world of traditional fighters because I just liked the character so much. Kof, Streets, Tekken, Guilty Gear, etc. I owe a lot to this man for showing me the awesomeness of the FGC and now seeing him as one of the first guest characters in my current favorite fighting game is just something else man. I can’t wait.
Also, I wonder how they’re gonna do rising tackle in this game. Cause they could either do it as a charge or a DP motion as well.

Great video as always. I know people are happy, but I'm bummed out. I don't care about Bison, never played Elena, so it might be my first chance. But, for a 4 character pass, two slots are for guests, with so many cool characters in SF, Final Fight and even Rival schools... I'd be down with one guest char, but two? I don't feel so hot about it. If there were like 5 spots Ok, cook it! But with 4 spots? That's a bit much for me... pretty underwhelmed. If you disagree, it's fine, my opinion here.

I think lore wise he's a perpetual/immortal. You can destroy his body but he'll just re-incarnate, as seen when Akuma tried to "die a million deaths!" Bison and he still got back up.

Gotta be honest not a big huge fan when it comes to dlc guest characters, Street Fighter has a magnitude of characters over the years and having 2 dlc guest characters just takes away any actual Street Fighter characters that people want to see return. Akira is an exception I'll give a pass for she is own by CAPCOM and is in part of the SF universe, Terry & Mai are not for I don't see any ties/lore for them to be in Street Fighter other than maybe revisiting the old days of CVS with Terry vs Ken & Mai vs Chun-li.
And I'm sorry to say this Rooflemonger for I know how much you like Bison and all but he shouldn't be in this game let alone alive. Like lorewise he was setup to be finally meet his end in SFV by the hands of Ryu, but all of that progression and character growth for Ryu to finally master the power of nothingness and defeat/kill Bison(again) just wash down the drain for him to come back....again!
Overall I'm a bit disappointed by all this but also intrigue by how they would look and play. And hey if they do change up Bison gameplay they'l surely do the same for Elena as well.

technically not a year. According to the pic, Mai won't be available until winter 2025 (November, December, January. That's nearly 1 1/2 years.

I like the character selection but the idea that we should only expect something like 3 characters a year on average from here on out is kinda ridiculous. 4 if they mixed up the Winter and Spring listings. So what's the deal? I get that developing characters is hard but it's also kinda where the money is, and it's also kinda what the fans want. Are we really going to be stuck with 3-4 characters a year and 1 costume a year from here on out?
Yeah probably, they're going for quality over quantity in this game something I actually appreciate considering how much I hated mostly everything in 5
Terry and Mai aside, I'm glad Elena made it in considering the last dlc fighter was Akuma, who pretty much has no friends or even friendly acquaintances other than Elena so this feels appropriate.
M. Bison is wild tho considering he was dead (again) before this and then now was seemingly brought back to life (again).

between terry being in smash & mai being in dead or alive with virtua fighter characters, part of me feels like they are a lil "ran through" as guest characters ala morrigan darkstalkers compared to geese's inclusion in tekken, but also---this is cool and i will likely play as them lol
i do kinda wish they'd waited until season 3 to show them off, just because it feels weird that we're gonna be able to have a street fighter match between two non-street fighter characters barely a year into the game (also bc im a lil sad im not getting makoto for another year at least---or the new filipino character) but w/e, elena's cool.
I have mixed feelings. I like having Terry and Mai but I don't like that we have these two at the expense of two other classic characters. 4 characters from the SF universe plus these two as guests and they would have rocked it.

Yeah like if anyone would be the first ever guests in SF OF COURSE it’d be Terry and Mai, but why release both in the same pass? Or not upgrade to 5 characters per year? Like I’m sure we’ll have a lot more dlc cycles than SFV but if guests end up taking priority at this same pace it’s tough to say what the actual returning roster will look like in a few years

Yes, way too early. I would have rather never seen guest characters in SF. It kind of set them apart, but if they were going to do it, they needed to up the number of characters this season or do it later on.
Fatal Fury is gonna have more reps than SF3 in SF6.
Capcom is really making the best out of that amazingly bold decision to set the game after SF3.

EDIT: I know that fighters have a history of guest characters, so I'm not associating this crossover with the current trend of mulltiverses and etc. Just in the current environment, I was glad that SF didn't do it.

Capcom never really wanted to progress the story all that much, its been evident since 4 released. Like, sure theres been some advancement, but they are riding the bison era nostalgia. I've just ignored the story at this point. Which is a shame, but what can you do.
As someone who started with SFVI, I'm pretty disappointed. There's a lot of characters I haven't had a chance to play from previous games that I was looking forward to. I've gone back and played some of SFIV and SFV, but it's not the same as being able to play them in the newest game with the biggest population of players.
Plus, City of the Wolves comes out next year so it's even more disappointing to get characters from the same genre from a franchise that has a new entry coming soon.
Not to mention the lack of new grapplers for two years now :(
I'm pretty sure SNK is doing this to promote their new game. But, yeah I'm disappointed too. I honestly thought we would be getting either dudley, makoto, or G/Q this year plus a sf deep cut character(maybe from alpha??) and someone new. We also still don't have sagat or claw.
@@jellojiggler1693 Yeah, it's just that usually promotions don't have in the exact same genre. Like, seeing Homelander in Mortal Kombat is interesting because he's not a video game character.
With Terry and Mai, they already come from 2D fighters, even if they aren't exactly like Street Fighter. I really wanted to see how they'd translate characters from older games into 6. Especially the ones that have never been in a non-pixelated, modern title.

I know most people are hyped about guest characters but i’m not really, at least not in this stage of the game. It feels like a last season dlc roster. The base roster was pretty small, we got characters in it that no would’ve asked for over plenty of other SF characters, season 1 dlc roster wasn’t that great either when it comes to what people wanted… So many fan favourites are missing. Seasons being only 4 characters don’t help
I think Mai or Terry should’ve been year 3, I and I’ve seen many others would have liked an old Street Fighter

Mai is Last Winter 2025. Although Spring 2025 is still a long ways away. 4 characters a season isn't enough.
I suspect they probably did it because of each character’s stages, M Bison already has Ruined Lab as his stage, while we’ll probably be getting an SNK stage of some kind for Mai and Terrence with Kenya as a stage for Elena. I say this because with Akuma’s and now Bison’s release it’s clear that stages will be heavily themed around certain DLC fighters in order to match up with their appearances in World Tour. Obviously it’s impossible to know what goes into making a new stage, implementing it into World Tour, and creating cutscenes for them, but it makes sense they’d want to use what they already have with the Ruined Lab instead putting a harsher deadline to finish a Kenya stage for Elena to coincide with her release

Im actually unhappy about this season, Elena is kinda cool, but now Bison is stepping on the toes of our new villain already, and we have guest characters, which to me is actively bad. I would love a cvs3, keep my sf season to sf characters. I do not want 2 sf characters a year, that is pathetic.
I wouldn't say M Bison would hurt JP as a villain. Seth was an incredibly memorable character from 4 despite M Bison also being on the roster. Bison seems like he'll be low profile storywise judging by his design. JP is still important to the lore and the final boss of World Tour.
I think it's more likely we WON'T have a proper crossover game. Why would they put Terry and Mai in SF only to do the exact same theme in another game? To me this seems in part them saying "this is the best we can do".
As a newcomer to fighting games, I have little knowledge of Final Fight so those guests do nothing for me. On a very surface level just just look rather plain and generic compared to SF characters. Maybe they will play well, but I am actually not sure if I will be picking up season2 character pass. From what I fiddled with Bison in SFV a while ago, I will probably not be playing him much, and I am completely unfamiliar with Elena (though I do like her design).
I am definitely not blown away by season2 announcement. I was hoping for a bit more bang.
They're from Fatal Fury and KoF, not Final Fight. Final Fight was made by Capcom and its characters exist in the same universe as SF's and are regular guests, even if they haven't shown up in 6 yet. But the story mode in 6 literally takes place in Metro City from FF.

Cannot believe it, Terry AND Mai, 2 guests from SNK, I'm beyond overjoyed. Those 2 alone will bring me back to this game and can't wait to see how they plan to adapt them into this game.

It's such a weird feeling because I like Bison and Elena, and having FF crossover is objectively really cool.

i'm not too thrilled with bison honestly, with all respect i think Street fighter has lame bosses compared to SNK or Tekken for example, butcool if people are happy with him. And of course i hope this means we are close to a Capcom vs SNK 3!

I really like Bison as a character but only as a spectator because I hate playing charge characters. Still too early he should have been season 4+, especially since he is supposed to be dead lore-wise.
This is an open door to Capcom vs SNK 3. And after this announcement, it's possible.
It's his Clone's body as Ed was supposed to be his new body. Plus he even used SF4 moves to show it's an older version of him, not the last one we saw when his move set evolved.
Bison had a spare but was damaged in the fallout of SF5.
He even used Psycho and Soul Power so this is what revived him.

Elena should be an amazing fit in the drive system. SNK characters are interesting, but we really needed one more if they're doing this because EVERYONE was hoping for more than just one from SF 3 or 4
Hate this announcement. FUckign M Bison back, and so 2 guest characters having only 4 slots? please, capcom, c'mom... And Elena is THE LAST ONE of them. I might as well just drop this effing game at this point (also the year pass costs fucking 50 dollars, and it doesnt even give you the outfit 3 for those characters, lul).
I was expecting to be a surprised, and probably a little disapointed, but holly fuck, that overdid my expectations so much, is so much worse
I was watching this with my little brother (he plays Terry) I saw Terry's belt but he didn't. I said terry? But then I saw it was Street Fighter and we were both confused. When we saw Terry he started screaming when I saw Mai (I play her) I started screaming even louder. We were jumping for joy. Then I saw Elena and then I died from hype. I love Elena so much. (Brother was hyped for Bison but who cares) God I can't wait for these characters to come out.

I really love how Capcom and SNK are like rival fighting game characters themselves these days. Seeing them work together to prop each others' series up instead of trying to ruthlessly crush the "competition" is great for the FGC as a whole, I feel.

I did a lot of looking at the gameplay trailer for M. Bison and it kinda looks like his walk speed is inbetween sf4 and sf5, leaning towards sf5, so be ready for either.
Drive Rush is insane though. He's bookin it.
This blew any expectations I had for future dlc out of the water.

Hyped for Terry and Mai, but worried for the future. Is half the dlc being taken up by guest characters going to become normal? There's so many SF characters that deserve to be in this game before guest characters. But since this is only the second season, Capcom can't really scale it back because now people will complain if there aren't as many guest characters in a season.

Since they've got a move guide for Bison dropping tomorrow, odds are he'll be out by or in July, so if Terry's October and Mai's January, that would put Elena on track for April, assuming a nice, even 3 month drop schedule and no more 6 month droughts again.

Bison looks really great. I don’t have the experience to know if he’s the fast Bison you’re hoping for or slow Bison, so I’m really excited for your gameplay trailer breakdown when it comes out. Honestly I didn’t know what charge moves were as a kid so I could never get Bison to work, even though visually he’s probably my favourite character. Now that I’ve got charge motions down from liberally applying dosukois to my opponent’s faces, I’m pretty excited to retry Bison after all these years!!!

Ed was Winter 24 and came out before Akuma who was Fall 24, pretty sure the order of the characters doesn’t matter as much as the dates provided. So Bison, then Terry, then Mai and then finishing off with Elena
Akuma was Spring 2024, but I think you're right about the order. Bison, Terry, Mai, and lastly, Elena. I also remember the devs initially describing Ed's release date as "in the winter after the new year" so Mai in January/Feb 2025.
