I'm a new fan of Lauren's and have been listening to this album non-stop for a couple of weeks now. The Leslie rotating speaker sound in this song KILLS ME every time I hear it. It has such a distinctive sound that just pulls at my soul and yanks tears out of my eyeballs. You rock, Lauren. Great tune. Great album.
@@jamesmykytka1110 your reply to my comment from 6 years ago is reminding me now of how long it took me to let go of things. And that I will need to keep letting go of things.
@@JayEhEnEaTee this past January it's been 13 years and it feels like yesterday. She was the only woman I truly opened my soul to. It's a really hard thing to let go of, especially since i couldn't fix the trust i had broken. I've been single ever since. I feel as if i was destined to be alone. I've probably over looked a lot of relationships because i am broken, but at least i still find happiness in dogs and motorcycles❤
I've been following this chicks evolution on UA-cam for about two years now. In this era of pre-fab careers, promo gimmicks passed as art, and Autotune? Lauren O'Connell is an enigma. And that's not a bad thing.
"new album quitters now available", it's been 5 months that I listen almost exclusively to this album ^^ Every Space is my favorite. The whole album sounds just perfect, "gravity" sounds pretty amazing too. Thank you so much for this
I love how the song progresses so much within its own time; not only in a lyrical sense but also in musical expression. It is a true journey, and thank you so much Lauren for letting us share your works of passion.
I still love the old Lauren O' Connell, This is great, your voice gets me every time, but nothing is like "Leavers and gears" and other music you've made in that era. You truly amaze me and I wish more people were like you!
I wish to discover the meaning to all of your songs. Each is as beautiful as you are. Thank you for brightening up my daily car rides with your music. -Alex
Lauren, watching you work makes me feel like I've wasted my life, and at the same time, that you know how to deal with everything my life has thrown at me. If only I could share your mind for a day.....
The first video of yours I ever watch was White Noise and I saw true talent. It was just you and an array of instruments sitting on a couch in front of a computer. Now I see you in a production studio surrounded by electronics and it makes me smile knowing that someone chased their dream and seems to have truly caught it. Please continue making music and I will continue to listen. You are a beautifully gifted artist.
Every since I stumbled upon "My Terrible Friend" I have been. a great fan and follower of your music Lauren, I look forward to purchasing your latest CD~ Quitters
Dammnit, this has just become another of my absolute favorite songs, both from the album and of everything I listen to. (this puts me at 4 or 5 songs from this album on that "absolute favorites of everything I listen to" list I have). Too rambly/confusing? I effing love this album. This song. And every other song on it. It's been in my car cd player since I got it 2 months ago. And I listen to it on repeat every day. It's hands down the best album I've heard in a long long while.
A new Lauren O'Connell video for my birthday. That's just awesome. Well, technically my birthday is tomorrow, but whatever happens then will pale in comparison to this.
I have been looking / listening at your videos and music for a long time now. I love the attitude you seem to have towards making music and doing the thing you love. You make music with such special passion and with such joy it makes me happy everytime i listen to it. Your songs and singing has weird effect on me: Its hard not to smile when listening these songs :) I have been postin your stuff on my facebook wall since i can remember and i will continue to support your work by doing that!
Haha two months later and I'm still just as hooked and in love with this song (and album). I get so excited for that little drum bit each and every time.
God, you are too great. My best friend and I are "meeting in the middle" to come see you in LA in a few weeks and we talk about it every day. We are so pumped! Can't wait!
It's so nice to know that, every once in a while, you will post another song for us to hear and it'll be awesome and beautiful, and it'll totally light up my day... and plus! you'll be there in the video for us to see you while you're making this amazing music... and plus! you might even answer to our replies :)
I hope you don't take this badly, but there's this warm sound to the whole production and interplay of the song that reminds me very much of that brief period in the '90s when you had college rock like Son Volt, The Breeders, and The Wallflowers breaking in. Amazing. 3:42, "would not forget," has this great timing of the entrance of the harmony parts with the chord change, and it just hits you in the gut. It's something that hasn't been perfected lately, and you hit the nail right on the head.
I get an overwhelming feeling that I'm eavesdropping on very intimate moments in this song. As if this transgression is not bad enough after seeing the video i must upgrade my charge to peeper. Nefarious as this sounds it has helped me feel less ashamed at subjecting my neighbors to this extraordinary artist for so long. Lets hope eventually they will appreciate the music as much as i do. thank you for this moving peek at your talent.
I love that this video communicates so much of the process. The team, the equipment, and the creativity are all so impressive! Thanks for sharing! Love it.
drew me right in from the start..well worth the wait Lauren..absolutely love the beat..wish I were good enough to do a cover of this song, but I can't come close!! take care, vera
I honestly don‘t recall how I found this song, but damn, this got me. Love the voice, but there is something in the harmonies, that I cannot shake off. So good. Thank you for this truely great song. And, yes, sometimes it doesn‘t matter.
Well done, Lauren. :) I've enjoyed your music for years and I'm so happy everytime you upload a new one. Getting to see you are still doing something you love. It's awesome and I love it. :)
I like "I Will Burn You Down" a bit more, but this is really pretty great. (And "I Don't Mind"/The Shakes are the best album/track of Lauren's so far. Sent the shakes down my spine.)
Just wonderful, you sound lovely in analog! This is Tom Waits' studio, yes? It has a really warm feel to it, looks like a great space to to work. Thanks for sharing.
"Creepers" are the results of persons who fail to see they can be enough and so they fail to love themselves. They, instead, make up for it with things that never quite fit or fill in. It's sad how it ends.
You suck Lauren. This and all of Quitters has me trapped so well that I can not stop listening. I listen to the album all the way through at least 3 or 4 times a week (sometimes more). The cd's been in my car since I got it in July; I have no desire to move it. I'd forgotten what it was like to listen to a cd all the way through and love every second of it. It's pretty rare these days since people skip the less than stellar songs so easily. Yours has none haha. Can't wait to see you in Philly!
i don't think i've seen you play the accordion in any of these videos. there are expectations here, lauren. it would appear that you play (almost) every instrument, but what is a world without the majestic, melancholy beauty of an accordion? useless. i'll expect to see one in your next video. don't let us down. these sorts of things are important.
This song is all that comes up when I try to search for Lauren's song "It wasn't you." Did she remove it from UA-cam? I found a couple covers but can't find the original song anywhere... :S
Just because someone has a larger budget doesn't make them any less talented. And I'm not arguing but I just feel that it's kind of pointless to compare the two. Lauren is a beautiful artist, there's no debate there. And so does Lindsey. They are both telling a story. but here's the difference - Lauren tells a story verbally with accompaniment of music. While Lindsey tells it musically with the company of visuals. You can't say one is more talented because their styles are vastly different.
There's no need to apologize! I came off a bit rough, I think, but it's all just opinions. I was just expressing mine the same as you expressed yours and you weren't rude or anything about it - so don't ever apologize for having an opinion! :)

3:33 that smile, that chemistry - feels like the essence of this video.

So nice to see you guys working in that beautiful studio. Dave, you look so happy in that video :-) No need to mention this song's great, too!

Its easy to look back a say I love it. But the truth be told I always have when it comes to you. And you always deliver.
It takes a few tries, but this song grows on you like an itch you can't scratch...unless you press repeat and listen again.
How hard it must have been to sit on all this great footage for a year without showing it off. You're good. You're good. (finger wagging)

GOD I love the Leslie shot. Great stuff! I could play a drinking game with my buddies just trying to identify all the gear.
I've downloaded your album last week, and it was well worth the wait. uniqe style, unique lyrics, unique sounds. Great work Lauren!
I'm sold. Quitters is a great album!

This sounds like the theme song of a sitcom, starring Lauren O'Connell, Nataly Dawn, and Julia Nunes...as themselves lol.
