I think Ive watched every video of Sierra playing Mad World. It seems like the song has a very personal deep meaning for her. There's playing song and feeling it,,shes definetly feeling it!
ABSOLUTELY! It was a diamond of a song by Roland and they've made it into something even more beautiful. Didn't think it was possible. Wow! These are exceptional artist's!
Apparently, I can not get enough of this as I'm up well over 100 views at this point since first discovering it almost a year ago. Every note is just right. Simply gorgeous.
In the 90's I used to go up there when it was Winter Hawk , Allison Krause was just a kid , I attended a work shop with her and Allison Brown , it really gave me a new appreciation for Blue Grass Music. Everything about Winter Hawk was great save for those cold ass showers.
I just found that one last week, and I totally agree. If I had to listen to only one version of this song for the rest of my life, it would be this one. But two? Father-daughter, for sure. They sound great and it's so sweet.

No-one needs to move over... it's not a bleedin' competition... there's room for every good musician of every kind - and Alison Krauss was instrumental in encouraging Sierra when she was very very young...ua-cam.com/video/XDZ9PN5K06Q/v-deo.html
What instrument is she playing? Seems to be a 4-string Fender Stratocaster mini-guitar? Or is it an electric ukulele? I cannot find this model anywhere online.
@@PerfectDanceVideos No, it is a Fender Electric Mandolin. Fender produced them from 1956-1976 is very small quantities. They also briefly did an inexpensive Chinese made reissue of the originals in the early 2010s. The reissue was called a Mando-Strat, but the originals were only listed in Fender literature as “Electric Mandolin”. However, many people called them Mandocasters even though Fender never officially did. The Fender Custom Shop has also made a few of these electric mandolins for people over the years of its existence including making one for Bluegrass Mandolin Legend Sam Bush. Unfortunately, for Fender in between the ending of the original models in 1976 and the introduction of the reissue the Eastwood company trademarked the name Mandocaster for their solid body electric mandolins. Even though acoustic mandolins almost always have eight strings, some electric mandolins only have four strings. There are also electric mandolins with five strings and eight strings. The number of strings DOES NOT determine whether or not an instrument is a mandolin. For what it’s worth, this one is an older Fender Electric Mandolin and not one of the reissues.
In the Tears for Fears song they said no expression. Sierra brought that some prodigal feminine wisdom and then I gave you a perfectly fine excuse to sit and listen, sit and listen 😭🥂
She doesn't know the words there's a difference to the meaning see right through me and look right through me to see through someone means you're on to him to look through someone means you don't even notice her there
The mandolin solo at the end put it over the top. Wow
Like she was channeling Jerry…
Compare this solo with the DelFest 2022 solo. Both amazing, but the DelFest solo haunts my daily thoughts!!!

Such a beautiful voice !!! ❤❤❤
Anyone trying to start a life today can relate to this.
This may be the best cover of any cover in the history of covers.
Truth!
ABSOLUTELY! It was a diamond of a song by Roland and they've made it into something even more beautiful. Didn't think it was possible. Wow! These are exceptional artist's!
Just love her voice with this song it’s like tea and sugar. Blend together so sweet!

I kinda feel similarly
And we only get to "like" it once. Doesn't seem fair.
I've watched this a bunch of times. better than the original for sure.
Yeah, me too
Agreed, on repeat...❤
That bass about split the world in two. Thank you for your art. Blown away!
This is my favorite version of this song anywhere - it's just got such an atmosphere.
I prefer the Version at DELs. The band is so charming
I knew I would thumbs up this when I saw the UA-cam icon. I like her voice. No gimmicks. Great instrumentals too.
In the 90's I used to go up there when it was Winter Hawk , Allison Krause was just a kid , I attended a work shop with her and Allison Brown , it really gave me a new appreciation for Blue Grass Music. Everything about Winter Hawk was great save for those cold ass showers.
Anyone else get the shivers?
I first heard this in 1982. I absolutely love this rendition. Thank you for sharing!

She is mesmerizing. Thanks for putting this up.
Our pleasure Tom!
Phenomenal
Hairs on the back of the neck, eyes moist, during that solo.
Think sierra’s live covers of Mad World have got to be the best I heard . You should check out Kurt and his Daughter doing a lockdown cover.
I just found that one last week, and I totally agree. If I had to listen to only one version of this song for the rest of my life, it would be this one. But two? Father-daughter, for sure. They sound great and it's so sweet.
Yeah I’m with you that , Sierra ‘s version for the rest of my life too 😊
Yeah! player is holding it down AND Laying it down 👏 👏 👏

By far my favorite rendition of this song!!!
Oh my. Flawless music. There's a depth of emotion that doesn't come cheap. Brilliant.
soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo GREAT!
She's got the it factor! Such an awesome talent. Beautiful version of Mad World!
Her solo at the end makes me think of Peter Frampton. It's just amazing!
Is this beautiful, or what?
Thank you LTF, thank you GF and thank you Sierra
It must be beautiful, or I wouldn't have immediately started replaying it. :-)
I found her on Folk Alley awhile back. She is really great!
Too good
Grey Fox is wonderful
Though a cover, this is really almost another (beautiful, haunting) thing entirely
I agree Russell. Sierra captures the melancholy of the original and also puts her own unique spin on it.
Bravo, plz do For A Few Dollars More.
Catchy tune.
Dang i love this woman
That's crazy the number of covers of this song from Tears for Fears (1982), including Gary Jules (2001)... This one is very cool.
Is that an electric mandolin? I've never seen one of those. Ahh, that's awesome!
cool 🍁 first time hearing this very catchy tune covered. almost phycodelic with the electric(mad) mandolin lol🤠
wow beautiful! I miss so much at this festival so thankful for what is captured and shared like this!

Mad mandolin skills also. I'd be so glad to be playing my guitar next to her.
Nicely Done !
Bravissima, bravissimi!!!❤👏👏👏👏👏👏
Cool song.
That lick at 4:13 - WOW. She's a dream
so nice
Pretty exceptional isn't she she's very talented move over Alison Krauss Bluegrass's new queen! Please rise Sierra Hull!

There’s a clip of her playing with Alison when she was 8 or 10 years old. Good friends these days.
Alison was her first important music teacher, as they were both child prodigies.
👏👏👏👏👏👏
Greetings...
Im in a mandocaster rabbit hole. This is the payoff for everything i just learned
♥ இڿڰۣ-ڰۣ-
3:40 rip it up girl!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
wow
Sierra's beautiful voice and smile remind me of Suzy Bogguss.
Pay that stand up bass player more! He makes the song!

Angel with a mandolin
Missing the drums from the other version.
Does anyone know what happened to Justin Moses? I don’t see him with the band.
Wow! She must be 9 feet tall!
Actually she's teeny tiny...
Wow 🥲
Should be 'no expression' not 'no exception'. Still, I love Sierra Hull's voice!

Mandolin
@@TheRolfano Wouldn't a mandolin have 8 strings?
@@PerfectDanceVideosNormally, yes. But not on the Fender mandolin, apparently.
Now I have learned it's called a tenor guitar. These days, Fender sells a Telecaster tenor but not a Strat.

no exception, no exception? It's "no expression, no expression" isn't it?
Beauuuuutifuuuuul cover though.

Sounds a little like jerry garcia!!!!
❤ 🎉😮 that is all😅
Talk about irony..
I’m not a fan of the electric mandolin.
You'll have plenty of time to get over it 😂🎉
She doesn't know the words there's a difference to the meaning see right through me and look right through me to see through someone means you're on to him to look through someone means you don't even notice her there
done good but. - there's tad disconnect in their versions of this classic; - did good but.
