    Nice objective review. I purchased a 2019 blue Murano Platinum trim. Did lots of research. Was set on the Murano since it was the best bang for the buck. Bought on clearance for a 20% discount which sweetened the deal. Since they are in less demand, you can really bargain. Added a 6 year 100,000 mile comprehensive warranty so I’m worry free. There’s no such thing as a cheap repair so I felt it was money well spent given the discount I got. I have owned two Nissan Sentras and a Nissan Altima and they were all good reliable cars. Absolutely love the Murano. Just a unique and stylish design. I think the wheels are the best looking out of any SUV. Seats and ride are very comfortable. You don’t buy the Murano for towing or off-roading. Is designed for street. Lower ground clearance than its competitors makes entry and exit easy, but you still enjoy the feel and safety of a bigger vehicle with sitting high but still great road manners. Quiet cabin. My wife is super picky and she loves this vehicle. Infiniti like experience for almost half the price. Plus there are not a lot of them out there so you stand out. Very happy so far

    Murano's grill shutters are better than having drive modes because you cant drive in eco& sport at the same time, but with AGS you get better fuel economy and better acceleration all at thw same time without having to select anything. Murano may nr be as thrilling to drive as it is to look at, but 0-60 of 7. 3 ties the santa fe with more hp(290hp) thanks to AGS and CVT. - both improvenacceleration!

    I have 2011 Nissan Murano SL. Nice and reliable vehicle. for 7 years I had to change only oil, brake pads and front brake rotors. I like it more than the new face. Unfortunately, Nissan still uses this VQ35DE - (Engine developed by Datsun more than 20 years ago). I want to see turbo engine under the hood. Car manufacturers are moving towards the turbo engines now. I live in a City which is 3500ft above sea level and Engine loses 14% of the power output. Instead, to have 260hp I have actually 224hp available. with the turbocharged engine, this issue is eliminated. Overall Good job Nissan.

    Just traded in a 2015 Murano SL for a Lexus NX 300. We wanted to get a smaller crossover and move into the so-called luxury category. We are long time Nissan buyers. The Murano was great for what it is. The seats were very comfortable. The camera exceptional. One downside was the infotainment was very slow in my opinion, it was almost like tubes and fuses had to warm up. I long ago made my peace with the CVT, but I have to say I was happy to get back to a real transmission in the Lexus (and my Mustang). I think we're just going to have to learn to live with this in the future. We had no quality issues or no warranty work in 3 years; we consistently only put 6000 miles a years on our cars. Whoever got our car got a great nearly perfect car all the way around- only one door dent on the front passenger door from a fat slob getting out of his Dodge truck.

  • @mervinprone
    @mervinprone 2 роки тому

    Murano feels Iike a luxury car. You really forget you’re driving a Nissan. It’s a sleeper. I couldn’t believe how comfortable the seats and drive were. Really nice. Bit hard to park and see out the back.

  • @stephenhendricks103
    @stephenhendricks103 6 років тому +1

    I haven't driven a Murano since the last generation - the one that looked like it was designed to transport beach balls or balloons. This one is much, much better looking. And that Nissan engine has been around long enough to be bulletproof. In fact, a thousand years from now archaeologists may find examples of that engine still running. However, as a card carrying member of the anti-CVT brigade (though not a fanatic) it's close to a deal breaker for me. Adding fake shift points only adds insult to injury. (At least they don't make it worse with paddle shifters.)
    I really like the size of these vehicles. Earlier this year we looked seriously at the Ford Edge Sport (now the ST). We're a family of four (two adults, a teenage daughter, and a big dog) and could have gotten along with a two row CUV. And most 3 row CUV's are simply mammoth (Looking at you, CX-9 and VW Atlas.)
    But the KIA Sorento we ended up buying with three usable rows is virtually the same size as the Edge and the Murano with more overall cargo space (even has more cargo space than the Murano behind the second row). It's not suitable for five or more passengers and their gear for long trips but it's very convenient for chauffeuring a gaggle of teenage girls or another family on a local trip that would otherwise require a second vehicle. Ninety percent plus of the time the third row is stowed but for those instances where it's needed, it's a lifesaver. The fact that we don't have to deal with a vehicle the size of the short school bus is gravy.

    The one disappointing thing about the Murano is the 1,500 pounds towing limit. Even the RAV4 can tow more! The more comparable Ford Edge is rated for 3,000 pounds with the 2.3L Ecoboost, yet the V-6 Murano is rated for only half that. Otherwise, the Murano actually can be had for good discounts and is a great value for the actual selling price. (I still hesitate because of the history of the Nissan CVT, however.)

      I wanted a CVT because they're supposed to have no shift shock. Hell, Nissan advertised that as a benefit in the late 2000s. But because a vocal minority complained of how they felt, every company using a CVT seems to be adding "fake" shifts.

    I'm getting better than the advertised MPG in my 2018 Platinum model. Up to 34 mpg on the highway and 21 mpg in the city. I think that's impressive for this size of a crossover. BTW, as far as cargo volume goes, the Murano is wider than the Ford Edge, and if you golf, you can get 4 golf bags in cross-wise. You cannot do that with the Ford Edge.

With the front tire removed, I can fit my bike behind driver with a single seat folded (still leaving space for 1-2 people in back). I tired that on Edge, and there was no way in hell I could fit the bike in it because of the aggressive slant.

    While the VQ35 is a reliable motor I do wish the fuel economy was better. In addition to that, by adding fake gear shifts when driving spiritedly makes zero sense. That's the manufacturer's way of admitting that CVT sucks and now they want to mimic the shifts of an actual automatic. Why not just put in a good 7 or 8 speed Aisin unit? Those are fantastic.

      @BigHeadClan 6 років тому +2

      Nissan has had the reliability issues sorted with the CVT since about 2015-2016 , when they first came out there was plenty of issues but those have long since been sorted.
      And the 3.5L engines in particular had very few issues even in 2011-2012 when the problem was prevalent.
      So long as your not buying anything in the 2010-2015 time-frame you should have pretty much zero issues with the CVT, just understand that it's not great
      for towing so if you frequently do so probably best you look else-where.
