Anyone else tempted to get a job there just to show them how it should be done?
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo would be tempted too get a job thier to show them how it's done.
+epicRMiddleton yes, cause when I get a pet I always do research these guys sound like they don't even know what a gold fish is
epicRMiddleton init
Me
epicRMiddleton oh yeah
ive been keeping fish for well over a decade and i mostly buy the unhealthy fish from PaH (and not one staff member has ever refused me sale) so that i can treat them at home and get them in a good tank. ive always had a soft spot for fish and i know the likely fate of the ill ones if i didnt take them :/
this is a good deed in a way, but by buying the fish you're supporting their business. and if their business is supported and they're selling fish well they will just keep doing what they're doing. meaning more fish will suffer in the long run. the best thing to do is boycott the store completely, and spread the word.
In Derby, they are in awesome condition, I sincerely am grateful as to how well they're kept. Thank you.
I just went to know how the water in all the tanks at my local Pets at home is always crystal clear!
No matter how often I do partial water changes my 100litre tank never looks as clear as theirs! And it has lots of filtration with only a siemease fighter in there 🤷♀️
Same! It annoys me because I don't feel like I am doing enough but I just can't seem to get it clear, it always ends up a bit cloudy. Even after cleaning.
They use special chemicals that they don’t tell us about
You should go to a local fish store not a pets at home and get your water tested they'll be able to advise you their
@@xaviersavage2711 thay don’t
@xavier savage ive brought all my fish from pets at home and they have all lived over 20 years
My local pets at home is great. The workers recommend fish and ask many questions to ensure the fishes new home is safe. I have been refused a fish once due to having a newish tank. These comments may be true but not for all shops
EPIC BOSS COW which pets at home??
@@divyalara My one does the same it’s in chesterfield
When I saw the guppies I immediately went 'aww'. I used to have guppies, most of them offspring from the guppies we bought at pet shops such as pets at home in Rotherham and the pet store at Wentworth garden centre. The guppies we bought lasted a while, and they had babies, and the babies lasted even longer. I feel like it depends on the pets at home you go to. The one in Rotherham is very good, as is the one in Fox Valley. The only issue I've had with the pets at home in Rotherham is the fact that once there was a dead fish on the floor. I felt sorry for the fish, I mean I was young at the time, but the staff quickly sorted it out, and I've never had any incidents like that since. For anyone buying guppies or thinking of buying them, they are extremely fragile fish, and they do need looking after properly. But, they are very active if they are healthy and they are really cute.
Hey,,, good day! I just want to ask permission if can I use this Video on my channel because I'm making content on Reliable Pet shops that you can Ensure that your Fish are healthy and properly treated! Of course your petshops will be one of the Highlights on my video! Thank you
+Pets at Home Hi I've got a question.... if all this important stuff like stress medicine and knowledge of your fish is so important why do you not tell people when they are buying a fish. Now I know if you get a fish or any pet you would do your research but online not everything is correct, so you would expect the place you get your animal to give you the correct info. I'm sorry but all across Pets at Home shops your staff says the wrong things about your fish. Sometimes ppl are told to get food that is bad for that type of fish or even the wrong tank requirements. I would also like to say that I have seen in your tanks that fish are dead, dieing or even starving cause your not feeding them or not doing it properly. I would give you advise before highering an volunteer to make sure they know what their doing
Pets and birds
When you work at Pets at Home you have to do training modules and be monitored until you’re fully competent doing fish sales. They’re required to ask certain questions and give certain information. The fish are always properly fed. An unhealthy fish can be caused by a plethora of things, and with the amount of fish in each tank of course there will be natural competition between tank mates. The checks they do are to help as best as they can. Please stop being so quick to judge. I understand it’s frustrating when you know a lot about a subject, and especially so if false information is being spread ( which is NEVER acceptable and would never be done on purpose), but the colleagues are only ever doing their best and trying to help. Bear in mind the conditions the fish are under are never able to be controlled by the worker anyway, it’ll be the big bosses who decide tank sizes and feeding schedules etc. Employees try their best to give the fish healthy lives. I hope this clears some things up
Every time I go to pets at home, there's always dead fish in the tanks, and staff seem uninterested.
my local PaH has electric blue rams listed as "easy" to care for. when they certainly are not. the good thing is that they do have size charts for each type of fish they sell, so people know what to expect. they also ask you thorough questions before selling you the fish.
Electric blue rams aren’t that picky. Just give them a nice planted tank with some sand and driftwood at 26 Celsius and they will be fine
The Pets at home I go to is nice and the fish are well and the water is clean and lovely
Great video! And I used to work with it's star!
+Alex Deane Actually Pets at home is one of the worst places to buy fish they don't take care of them
Great video my arse you got shit for brains as well
The pets at home near me is amazing because they are more on the job and everything is very clean. But obviously there might be other PAT that might not be good
How much would it cost to buy a plant,4 fish,2 shrimp, gravelgreen and the,16 litre tank with the filter inside?
well i regularly shop at the pets at home near me, and I'm sad to say they don't show much care for the shrimps and fish , if seen the odd live fish in the bottom section where the water pumps are , iv seen dead shrimps decomposing in tanks with fish , and fish that do not play well with shrimp , iv pointed these issues out in the past and I allways get told the same thing , don't worry about it I'm sure someone will fix the problem , but a few days later upon returning to the store nouthing had been done to fix the problems, it's why i no longer but live pets from the store i only buy aqurium supplies now
I went to pets at home the other day. They were restocking the fish and you could see underneath the tank where the pumps are stored that there was probably 4 or 5 fish stuck in the bottom to die. Not good...
Amy Welsh omg
Omg which PAH
Actually when fish born they're so small they get sucked down into the filter system. They do not die. We still feed them and they have everything they need. Once they're big enough to not be eaten by the others we catch them and put them back into the tanks.
Really...
You arent supposed to put the water from the transport bags into the tank. UGGGH. Have you even heard of the nitrogen cycle?
BunniesAndBubbles how should it be done then
sportygal1991 They should be floated in the bags to be temperature acclimated to the tank water. Then, once they're ready to move, they should open t he bags, pour it gently into a bucket with a net resting on top, then put from the net into the tank.
BunniesAndBubbles the water is taken from the exact same source, it's probably even taken from that tank... It's just a promotional video
Shush
i love animals
Dis pets at home looks way better than my pets at home, the tanks there don’t even have gravel in dem and if there is a ornament in the tank the paper tag isn’t even taken off
I seen a goldfish with severe ich, a couple with swim bladder disease and the tank was overcrowded. There were fish eating each other in multiple tanks.
In bangor north wales i have seen the walfare sign up so thats kinda a good sign!
of corse theres always a dead fish but its to be expected!
What a load of BULL! I've been to pets at home, and seen employees laughing at the fish eating one another?!?!?!
Christopher Cooper Oh my god... That's horrible, the pets at home near me is lovely. They are really passionate about the fish (and other animals too)
+Christopher Cooper that's a change, when I went their the employees were laughing at their fish when they couldn't swim properly cuz they were too crowded and I also saw them laughing at a hamster dieing. They also give wrong info about all their pets
That's just your store my shop is really nice
sex dummy
Really that sounds awful
what pleccas do you have
This is one of the worst places to buy fish, they never look after them like they say in this video. Best thing to do is find a local aquarium shop and support your local businesses. Chances are your local businesses have far more knowledge on the subject and can advise you better. Oh and their fish will be in better health giving you less chance of taking home an ill fish which you need to buy medication for. I've done this for the past 5 years and haven't had a problem by going to local businesses, but I've always had a problem when I go to pets at home.
Beth White my lfs is SHIT I'd rather buy them from pets at home than that place
My local fish shop have sold me some awful fish. Ironically, 99% of the fish I’ve got from Pets at home have been in amazing condition
@@emilyvictoria836 With all due respect your just some little girl. Do you have a clue to what your even talking about?
Jonny Fuller with all due respect, I’m actually an adult, not a ‘little girl’. I have over 10 years experience of fish keeping
Emily Victoria And do you breed thousands of pounds worth of show quality fish? I bet you just keep a few guppies and are now a ‘pro’
Go on joel. Used to work at pets at home for 3 and a half years with this guy and he knows his stuff.
I saw someone nearly sell a silver shark to a an owner of a 100 litre rank I actually spoke up and said it wasn't suitable I could tell the member of staff had no clue what he was doing.
It can go in a 100l tank but only for a couple of months though lol would need at least 300l to live it's life in
I got a fish from u 5 years ago and I still have it
+Wild horses 937 I'm glad YOU know how to take care of fish they are very lucky
Wild horses 937 lucky
I had two fish from there one died 1day after I brought it I had a fish for 1month 😬😬😬
When you buy fish at pets at home you are quizzed and looked down upon by "know all" employees lecturing you about obvious things while they are stood in front of tanks containing dead fish, although some fish are in smaller quarantine tanks. they are more interested in knowing which tank you have so they can potentially sell you another one than they are interested in telling you how to treat your inevitably young dying, sick fish.
I have also bought guinea pigs with ring worm in the past and still had to pay Pets at home to treat it.
Anyone else have these issues?
How much do the goldfish cost?
Went to pets at home, got a tank which is pretty good but then got 2 plattys. One of them lasted a week and the other lasted a couple of days after the other died. Shocking
I have had no problem getting fish from here
went there one time to buy a goldfish, they refused the sale because of the tank size. if i remember it was like 5 gallons ish. but i went to another pets at home and they sold me it, so. i have a feeling different stores have different types of staff. all in all they have clean tanks and i don't really see a problem with them, just some staff could do with some experience.
i dont support the store that sold the goldfish to me when i had a small tank. it was when i was a kid, so don't expect me to know better.
how many fish points for a 24 litre tank
I went in pets at home today and they have no decorations in the tank and they were cleaning the fish and I saw that they were cleaning the ill fish with the same thing as the healthy fish.
Yeah right! It would take half an hour to go round all those tanks to check them properly, so that guy is really going to be constantly walking round, sticking his hand in the tanks?
I would recommend one male per 3 females to begin with or 1 male per 5 or 9 females per tank
Went into pets at home loads of the fish where not happy and looked like some where dying
I love pets at home
me to!!
+Simeon fish *too
+Simeon fish it one of the best
+May Lawrence if I need some pet stuff I go there
What location is that pets at home
These may be the stores internal guidelines for employees but they are clearly not being followed. I have spent a lot of time in our local branch as my daughter likes to have a good look at all the pets in store and I can tell you that the only time I have seen the staff go near the animals is when they have been asked a question by a customer. We were in there for at least 2 hours last time we went to the store and not one person checked on any animal. The staff were happy to help but only when asked, they spent the rest of the time talking behind the tills.
I just bought a Betta for here a few days and it is heavy breathing is this normal i have another betta he is a beautiful koi and he is not heavy breathing so is there something wrong with my betta who is heavy breathing.
He could have swim bladder problems caused by either too much food or too much medication
Our local Pets at Home is actually very gooddespite some of the comments down below. I guess it depends on the shop and the people that work there as some employees, especially those who helped me get set up with fish were very knowledgeable and advised me not to get some of the 'suggested' (expensive!) state of the art things but basic models that would work just as well. They cared for the animals a lot, well-fed and attentive or being treated before selling.
Yes same here which do you go to?
Who narrates this video?
Is pets at home good to buy fish?
Yes
Everyone is slating pets at home but my local one has a lovely lady who is always around there. She told me everything I needed to know. About fish points and how many fit into certain size tanks. She told me about cleaning the tank, filters, and this pump you can clean the bottom with. Also about what food certain fish preferred and holiday foods 😀
Never seen a Pets At Home store which doesn't have dead fish in several tanks. The Siamese fighting fish they keep are always the worst treated it seems, they're all kept in ridiculously small tanks and are almost always looking very ill and/or generally not moving if they aren't already dead
Siamese fighters sleep btw
After one year of the fish in your house next spring your fry should appear
I went ther yesterday
Can I buy the snails from store?
Pets at home is one of the only places that i can buy fish. I went yesterday and bought 3 clown loaches 2 indian gourami and 2 briselnose plecs
One of the loaches is ill with fungle
The plecs both have finrott but the gourami is fine
The annoying thing is that 85% of the fish are I'll and the majority have fin rot
Sos for bad spelling
Go to Maidenhead aquatics. They have a lot more fish and the fish are healthier
They ask so many questions for a bloody fish!
When I bought my gecko at a different pet shop they didn’t ask that many questions!
It’s not just a ‘bloody’ fish
they need to know if you are knowledgable enough to look after it correctly moron
@@bandamani ngl, there are tons of questions. Had to go through the same when I bought some shrimp.
@@gollumtheartisticnewt1028 good
@@bandamani Maidenhead aquatics does really good quality fish, and still don’t ask that many questions.
they really do suck, there isn't as much variety of coldwater fish at my nearest shop as before and i did see some dead fish
hi there i was just wondering if i could have a small black moore gold fish and a small goldfish in a 24 litre tank
NO NO NO
GOLDFISH ALL GET TOO BIG FOR 24 LITRES!
Please get a large (100l/more) aquarium, or an indoor pond
can mollies go in with Guppies and neon tetras catfish
Is this in England beacuse I’m getting a fish from pets at home
Nah. Try Maidenhead aquatics if you have one
Ignorant question, why is it you tell us to have a large fish tank for certain fish and say we can only have a certain amount in that tank but at the store you have a tank half the required size and so much more fish in said tank?
Bc the fish grow and develop within the tank. The one in store is only temporary and is for display. Fish will only be there couple of weeks max
I have got 4 fish from here and died in the first week
Do they sell bettas?
Yes
Got mine from Birmingham pets at home
Is there a way to send a private comment to the Pets at Home youTube?
i donno
Yes but I'm not sure how
and i did see a person on pets at home website with small oranda goldfish in a 19 litre tank so i can have one in 24 litres because its bigger tank than 19 litres
+unicorns or buttercups i got a fish from there no fish dead no others ill and mine's a healthy happy fish😐
I got a rosy barb here and it killed Avery thing
my friend got 2 fish once from here and they died after 3 days
damn lies i bought 2 mollys from here one black sailfin and a female orange and black one names were chonk (the girl) and yellow face (the boy)
sadly after 1 week yellow face perished from ich we could not see and chonk had cloud eye but we managed to save her but still has the funny eye on one side but i still love her.
i strongly recomend maidenhead equatics the fish are much heathyer than pets at home
Yes Maidenhead aquatics is better.
I have 2 healthy platys from hear
Half an hour check? Okay then, that’s why there’s rotting fish in most of your tanks🙄
I was thinking about working there but never mind 14 exams
All 4 of my fish died of swim bladder disease... And it wasn't our fault... 😢
Terrarium Tutorials oh dear
If you do that it gets poorly and that's why every time someone buys one it has a problem
Buying goldfish from there to feed my snakehead haa
You know goldfish are poisonous to fish right?
Lmao The is a emoplye at my local pets at home who didn’t know the difference between a male guppy and female i also had to tell her that most the females where pregnant and would over crowd a new fish tank for a new owner
I got my fish from you!
I went to pets at home and saw many fish that were dead 9 in a tank!!!!!
Kate Miller were they goldfish
go and watch the watch dog report of pets at home
I adopted my fish from pets at home and our hamster
adopted😂😂
Healthy fish then you go in and half of them are dead or half dead, or " a fish should have normal shape " and I'm telling you now I've seen so many deformed fish in my local pets at home and there was this 1 cold water minnow that was bent it's body looked like a boomerang
In the pets at home in my local area know what their talking about the fish are well looked after let me ask all you who are fish experts who own fish how did you get you r fish you v given pets at home a bad name so tell me how did you get you r fish they are not born at pets at home they are supplied to them they v travelled on our roads untill they are delivered to pets at home the only time anybody gets to have a look at them are when they handled them could it be they r stressed out by that time look at the BIGGER picture
UV filters do not kill all bacteria first time around, if fish are put off sale in one of your tanks in one cycle system due to illness/treatments they should all be put off sale, taking 1 tank off sale in a tank set up running from same filter does not guarentee that the other tanks in the chain are healthy and you are risking putting customers own fish at risk
My budgies are scared of the new rope perch I bought them
It was from pets at home
its funny how they do a ton of things wrong.... poor fish..
Your staff are not competent enough. Their knowledge of fish & aquariums is shocking. I had one of your staff members telling me I got put loads of Goldfish in my 180 litre aquarium which is completely wrong to start of with, oh and apparently fish grow to their environment.....wrong. I was actually made to look like the dumb one in the store when actually I always seem to know more than your trained staff and I've only been keeping fish for 2 years.
Sarah Physick
I agree the staff don't have much knowledge on fish I went to my local pets at home which is always pretty good and have rather high standards then most large chain pet shops have. and me and my mum went to get new fish and we were talking to an employee about what you need to know when you get a job there and because I have always been interested in being a pet shop assistant and the woman told us that it's good to know a little bit about the animals but what's most important is that you can actually sell the animals to people
I really didn't understand why the employees aren't trained and because of this thy may be giving out false information to customers who want a new pet.
I'm not trying to be rude to pets at home but your right the staff need more training and whenever I go into pets at home I always feel like I know way more then all the employees put together and I'm 12
Sorry about this long comment have a nice day 😊
I will not get my fish from pets at home
Even though most of the fish are dead or ill
1. Don’t release the fish with the water in the bag
2. Flakes are bad for fish cuz they float and as the fish goes to the surface to eat they take in air that then can cause lots of problems for the fish
1:55 (moves around decorations for no reason)
Could you please explain the first one? I do that too
What a crock of shit! I went to pets at home and pointed out 3 dead and semi rotted fish in the tanks that had apparently already been checked 10 minutes before. The staff member was very rude!!!
Their advise is also awful, almost year ago they tried to sell me a 24L tank for 2 Fancy Goldfish 🤣 their advise was buy the tank, fill it with tap water wait a couple of days and add 2 fancy goldfish - no tap safe, no cycling, no water testing needed with goldfish apparently 🙈 I thankfully had done my research...
Hi, this shouldn’t have happened at all! Pets at home employees are trained to sell fish and have to go through certain points which are prompted on the system when selling fish. A pets at home employee should never sell a goldfish to someone with a tank smaller than 20 litres and it needs to have been set up for at least 3 days. This is rules they have to follow and colleague regularly refuse fish sales to customers who don’t meet those requirements. The colleague are prompted to ask about the use of tap safe before buying the fish too. As an ex-employee I apologise on behalf of pets at home for this poor communication of information. Additionally, although you may not witness fish checks I can assure you they are carried out frequently, with alarms set as reminders too. An ill fish may be left momentarily in certain cases such as to get a manager or someone with more fish knowledge to assess the situation if they employee is unsure how to deal with it themself. An ill fish is never intentionally left, and the fish are not neglected. I hope this hasn’t tainted your view of pets at home
Check if healthy - Guppies then shows one half dead 😂
WHEN WILL U BRING THE HAMSTERS BACK IN
heartsfortaehyung dint buy a hamster from pets at home, they provide lots of wrong care and the animals come from breeding mills where the breeders don’t provide any decent care so the animals are very unhealthy
Bruh I bough fish from you yesterday and the women dropped and killed one of my fish and you kept my tropical fish in cold water
What did you want the water to be ? boiling hot water?
Miss Horsey no but you keep tropical in Luke warm water not freezing cold water
@@misscoolkid324 tropical fish have to be kept in 24-30 degree water

Getting a beta from here today !
Pets at homes fish are full of worms and don't last long. They don't tell you what's the problem is with them and make out its you!! Luckily I found a fish expert who found the cause and its worms!! Sort it out!!
No wonder they have sick fish they put the water from the breeder into their tanks
sedated fish lol
lies...sweet little lies...we tell outselves...
i had a better fish from there and it died 2 days after i got it
Thay are the worst place to get fish from iv seen dead fish or sick fish in all there tanks even 1 big fancy goldfish that was in with small tropical fish and thay was eating it had big hole on its back and thay said it's being treated even after I made 1 of there staff watch it being eaten by the smaller fish cos it could not swim fast to get away why don't put fancy goldfish with them and if had a hamster that thay said was 8 weeks but was told by a vet she was at least 16 weeks that went on about a year after to have a tumer and my sister had 2 hamsters that 1 had a tumer and other had problem with his liver and told was born with it so had both be put to sleep and been told it's cos thay breed there hamsters in the back of store not bothering if there all related as for 9months training that's bullcrap my friends son worked there selling fish all he did was watch a video about fish keeping and answer a few questions even watchdog have investigated them
Well miss k fish don't live for long you no
Never tell them about the actual size of your tank or they will calculate the amount of fish you can actually buy, I always lie about the size of my tank so I can buy more fish from them.
Your an animal abuser
No they aren’t-
never buy fish from pets at home, other animals are ok in my experience though
