- ESPN's Rece Davis joins the show to break down what it will take for Alabama to survive and advance past UConn. For starters, the 3-point game has to be exceptional. With UConn's Donovan Clingan by the rim, Alabama will have to score a majority of their points from the perimeter and have multiple guys contribute. Simply put, it can't just be Mark Sears draining 3s from the outside. As Rece said, it's a tall order but nothing is impossible.

Alabama has played Arizona, Creighton, purdue, oregon, Tennessee, north Carolina, and clemson. To say uconn has played better teams is laughable
Not impossible just improbable without their own defensive adjustment and an offensive tempo change. Uconn sports a 127 oer per Ken pom and Bama a 122 oer. Defensively it's not close . Which unless Bama consumes more clock on the O end they'll be exposed . The time of possession is one way to hide defensive deficiencies . However uptempo is more Bama s seasonal model. They just aren't the two way team uconn is. 70 30 uconn wins .

I’d like to point out the ‘92 NC game against Miami. No one gave us a chance and despite only throwing for around 20 yards in the game ………34-13 Bama. How about the ‘21 SECCG? 41-24…Bama. Will we win? All signs point to no, but I’m not believing that it’s a foregone conclusion. If they do win….they still have to live in Connecticut, not us. So we win either way.

Alabama is an SEC team thy won’t be as tuff cause they are only tuff in the SEC and the SEC is usually pretty weak this time of year history shows this U Con seems like they just get better each and every game very poised
The stats Rece cites on Clingan shows just how stupid the Illinois game plan was against UConn. 19 of the 38 shots they took while Clingan was on the floor were contested by Clingan. They just kept driving the ball at him with players who were 6 to 8 inches shorter. It was the dumbest game plan I've ever seen.
Alabama will have to play a perfect game in all aspects just to have a chance to win against UConn. Never say never. I did'nt think they would be here in the final four so just hoping for a good effort from all our guys. ROLL TIDE!!

@@AlejandroReasein 2 of UConn’s 3 losses they got stomped by 15 and 19. If you get Cligan in foul trouble then they’re pretty dang beatable. If Bama plays like they have all tournament and gets hot at the 3 then we can beat ‘em. I love when teams like this are overhyped I.E. ‘92 Miami, ‘21 UGA

I'm just proud of them for making the Final Four! Of course I would love to see them get further, but that alone is a tremendous achievement. Unfortunately, this UConn squad looks like it could be a generational team.

Seton hall beat the crap outta Unconn…. Didn’t they go to the NIT? UConn got smacked by Creighton by 1 point shy of 20. Creighton beat Bama by 3 and we shot awful that day. 🤔 If Bama hits 12-16 we’ll be fine. UConn is a great team but unbeatable? Nah, it’s been proven otherwise 3 times now. Tall ask but take out Clingan and UConn can easily lose.

I don’t see Alabama running 30 seconds of offense to generate a wide open 3, hitting it 70% of the time (which Creighton did until they pulled starters late), and then defending UConn’s set for 30 seconds, having a 7’4” conference DPOY to negate drives / cutters, and not allowing any offensive rebounds for second chance opportunities

Creighton beat us by eating up clock, defending at a top 20 level, and controlling the defensive glass. They limited us to our lowest possession total of the season and shot 70% from 3 for the first 3 quarters. Alabama can shoot well but they’re not capable of doing everything else Creighton did to make that game a blowout. Tides tempo will be they’re downfall.
Not to mention both those games were on the road, not neutral sites (UConn is undefeated at neutral sites this season) and the Creighton game was our 4th game in 10 days (tired legs- we have a week of prep for Phoenix)
so basically what you’re telling me is you’re counting on Clingan & 2 other starters to get hurt, and Alabama to play the exact opposite style of play they’ve ran all year to complete perfection- for them to have a chance to beat UConn
First of all UCONN has played better teams than Alabama and have blown them out. THE QUESTION should be how can ALABAMA compete. I dont think they match up well at all.
Uconn also lost to creighton and Kansas which both would be ranked lower than Bama so it works both ways. They also lost tp Marquette who got beat by NC State. Matchups are a funny thing , you can never compare 2 teams by necessarily different opponents
