Kev that Video was worth the wait!! Rustler took a LOT of abuse. Took a suicide hit to break it but good. I don't think ANY RC could take that hit without some serious damage. The New benchmark for durability test :)
That poor Rustler 4x4. It was doing pretty darn good until the head on crash at 45 mph. One thing is for sure NO RC is safe around you guys!! 🤪 Good fun, great vid.

I just upgraded my Traxxas Slash 2wd to a 3000kv Dynamite Tazer and it goes fast! It's my first brushless vehicle and I run 3s. I've never run 2s.
I did not expect that rustler to take that, that was impressive. I also like the sound clips you used, added a lot of value to the video.

Actually surprised at how tough the rustler 4x4 is. Good stuff!
I liked when you use to run them out at that golf course or whatever it was with the really smooth grass and nice little hills. If you made a mistake there it just tumbled in the grass. You didn’t have steel boxes to risk hitting. Kevin you put them through a lot more than any of us would.
Ya boi got the hustler rustler out! Definitely a fun truck, needs a couple small things to make it bullet proof but it’s an all around good rig IMO
14 tooth pinion seems to be the sweet spot, I’ve been told the 17 tooth u can backflip no problem but off road with it, it’s gonna over heat, so it’s got 11 tooth in it out the box I say u go with a 14 tooth

Today I took to bash my Rustler 4x4 vxl and for sure it needs more stiff shocks. With the stock shocks, it sounds always hitting the floor very hard. And I think the chasis is always hitting rocks running on irregular roads. I love this car and the design, but definitly it needs stiff shocks.
45 weight shock oil, aluminum caps and you’re golden.

No one can say rustlers aren't tough little trucks. You guys beat the living snot out of it and finished it off with an impact that NO RC car would have survived. What's more, the car can absolutely be fixed.

Out of all the plastic cars I've seen broken in half (GD U E-Maxx), I have seen only ONE metal chassis break like that & it literally took a 100ft jump landing on a curb stop. I'll taking bending over breaking any day. It is funny as hell to see them still move after breaking though.
Megasty15 hahaha I’ve crashed my stampede 2wd on 3s straight into a table and my right tire flew off along with the castor block, camberlink and servo saver I should’ve kept running it to be honest 😂😂😂😂
@@Valdemar-Perez-III I was spinning my dearly departed Rustler 2wd on the track when my friend dropped his bloody E-Maxx on it. It took a few jump then flew apart while landing. The front end kept going while the rear end . . . turned into a speed bump for my Rustler. Both cars ended up in 2 parts 😂

Hello, just wondering what do you do when the size of your axel is too small to fit the wheel?
Put a 14 pinion on it, I was pulling double backflips with ease today on the 14 and it won't get too hot like the 17 does. And people saying it's the tires are wrong the tires are fine it's the gearing, I can backflip off a curb on the 14 with stock tires.
One of the best bashing videos I've seen yet. That poor rustler though.
It's not into the 50's (never mind approaching 65!) unless you've at least the 17T on but then be warned that accceleration is going to tail right off compared to this pinion, oh and get very used to that body front popping off, very, very used to it. If the wind changes direction it pops off. You mention the high speed gearing but get ready for a Huge drop in acceleration. Time to get that castle mamba x out....

We have front flips, back flips, and this (8:18) shall be called the Kev.
If you put the high speed gearing in I will be interested to see if the engine overheats quickly and how the driveshafts hold up. Generally the don’t last long on the “high speed” gearing unless you just do a concrete speed run and shut it down.
kev would you suggest getting this, or the brushed version and upgrading the motor and esc to brushless?

Hey Kevin! How about putting all aluminum upgrades like A arms and shock towers etc on the Xmaxx or another good basher and showing how well the they take the abuse with all alloy parts compared to plastic stock parts or RPM?? Most people say plastic is the way to go when bashing and I agree but I would like to see how much abuse the xmaxx can take if it had alloy a- arms, shock towers, hub carriers etc...
Seeing how you treat these things rubs me the wrong way, but then again I'm so intrigued and have to keep watching hah

Cool video, I just put a sidewinder 3s and castle 5700 kv in my rustler and it blew 2 of the tires apart, and I had some slash swamper tires I put on to see what happens and they handle the speed no problem
So how long do you think it's going to take you to get the parts to fix it, are you just going to get another chassis and switch everything over to the new one??
Now that's a lot of Damage , flex tape cannot fix that carnage

hi kev! great vid, but i need some tips... i have a helion dominus 10tr but it feels so stiff, when looking at your 2wd rustler for example it looks so smooth with the suspension and the rear saggs when accelerating. mine is barely moving the suspension, even tho it is soft and a decent powerful radient reaktor 3500kv motor at 3s. do you have any tips for making it more like your rustler? also, the punch acceleration isnt any good so it wont even lift the front wheels at full throttle. how do i adjust the punch on the ecs from radient reaktor set

Put on some 2.8 tires on it. That’ll up the gearing, stability, self righting capability, overall sexiness, most likely widen the wheelbase, you get the point. Just do it. And maybe don’t hit the throttle into a concrete wall? Hard things that won’t budge and fast moving rc’s don’t mix. My most common hard thing that doesn’t budge that I come very close to hitting all the time with rc’s are mailboxes. When I do hit them, I can promise you a busted a arm, shock rod, shock protector, and other things... like the commonly resulting exclamation “OH F**k!!! S**t! Nooo! Goddamn sunnuvva...”

Don't you get fed up with reattaching the body on every other landing or front impact, I did not have to refit the body as much as you do when I ran Savages T-Maxx and E-Maxx's or my HPI Firestorm, although a long while ago they did not come off as often, I always elongated the body post holes front and rear and made up some oval body washers to sit both sides in clear Lexan or polycarbonate. Keep up the bashing always fun to watch.

The Rustler 4x4 was kinda cool but I think that considering it cost as much as the arrma the arrma is soooo much better, but if I had the money I'd still buy one
People think that but the extra 100$ goes towards metal diffs the arena has plastic diffs and the TSM is insane I've never had an RC that handles so good in my life.
Arrma chassis can't hold up to the heavy duty bashing, that's all. And I wouldn't consider Traxxas "toy grade" compared to arrma
@@cwatson42785 it was the other way around for me. The arrma models always broke. And the traxxas models never.
Thats like comparing ford n chevy lol. I own nuthin but ford. All the chevys ive ever drove have ended up with issues. Yeah arrma has the metal chassis, but after bein bent so many times, theyll break. I like the give of the traxxas chassis, plus it keeps its shape. Unless u do like kev n bash it straight into somethin solid, then it explodes lol
