I tried the vinegar, water, Dawn soap combo in a spray bottle today. It only took me 15 minutes to do what used to take me 3 hours on my hands and knees to do with other cleaners. I have a fiberglass textured tub that was almost impossible to clean the bottom of. I mixed up your vinegar recipe and sprayed it down twice over 10 minutes and then took a 5' long handle stiff plastic bristled brush to it. Rinsed it off and it was spotless! all in 15 minutes. I'm 74 years old. Thank you!

nice. we 3 brothers are quite greasy and also the water here is slightly hard so we need a bottle which is like 1:4-1:3 dawn platinum and the rest vinegar to get rid of the soap scum. not sure if the ph is bad or good for hard water but its working very well

HOTEL HOUSEKEEPER TIP--use kitchen broom for scrubbing and instead of all the stretching to dry at the end turn a table top style portable fan on high [ I use a rotating tower fan at home] to cirulatate a breeze to evaporate leftover water and to blow away the cleaner's smell. BONUS you get a clean broom as well!

I used to feel the same but I also like the extra large rain shower heads. I could use both but then you have all the extra crap hanging. Cure? I clean the bathroom often enough that a plastic tumbler to splash/rinse with is an easy replacement and only takes 2 -3 fills to rinse a full size tub and tiles.

Citric acid also works well on showers and any hard water spots. You can buy it in powder form at health food stores or online, and it's much cheaper than vinegar.

One tip, white vinegar, hot water, Dawn dish soap. I spray a solution on, walk away, rinse. Spray again, take a magic eraser and scrub, not even hard. My shower looks great. No water spots. Once a week I spray and walk away and rinse and once a month I repeat the spray and scrub. Also helps neutralize those bathroom odors. No dangerous chemicals. Not saying I won’t use soft scrub scrub or bleach when necessary, but for the most part, white vinegar and Dawn dish soap clean quite nicely. I also recommend white vinegar in with your clean water and carpet cleaning so,Union when scrubbing carpets. Nothing helps with odors like it.

When I go to the Dollar Tree, or Family Dollar, or Dollar General, I buy a very small bottle of Dawn dishsoap and use that. I treat the interior of my shower as though it's basically a dish. Squirt on soap... scrub with a medium or soft-bristle brush. The key is to do it often.

Citric acid. You can buy it in powder form at hardware stores or online. Mix it with warm water until fully disolved. It cuts through hard water spots and the brown grime at the bottom of the shower like nothing else.
I generally don't recommend mixing cleaning products, particulr vinegar or bleach with any type of soap. They may react and some combinations are dangerous.
Citric acid is more effective anyway.

One of my three bathrooms has a molded plastic shower unit, which I hate. The only thing that works for cleaning it proofs is to wet it down with hot water, then scrub it with Spic and Span on a non-scratch scrubber pad. For lighter cleanings, I make a strong solution of Spic and Span and hot water and spray it on, then rinse. Spic and Span is basically TSP (trisodium phosphate), with color and fragrance, but cheaper, plain, generic TSP will work, too. Discharging phosphates to wastewater damages ecosystems, so I limit my use of it to the bare minimum, like once every five years. It’s also the only thing that works on the textured, no-slip, bottom surface of my porcelain bathtub. Dishwasher detergent also contains phosphates, by the way, so I use only half the recommended amount, it works just as well. After cleaning, rinse like crazy; all truly clean, hard surfaces will feel slippery. I maintain my showers and tub by rinsing them with the hottest water then drying them with a towel after every use, it helps so much to reduce soap scum and prevents mildew. If it’s not quite dry, I put a fan in the shower for a few minutes.

At our house (just my husband and I), the last one to shower goes over both the glass door and the tile walls with a squeeze, then dries it off with a yellow garage-type towel. Then when we get out, there’s an old hand towel that we rub around on the floor to dry it up. It actually goes pretty quick….it’s a small square shower.

So I have used everything that he has spoken about and it works wonderfully. My grandson had a shower that bless his heart. He had not really cleaned for over five years if you can believe that young boys anyway they were on vacation and we stayed to watch their animals for them and I cleaned and I researched and I use this guy’s tips brand spanking. New looking just beautiful works absolutely wonderful. I do have to say because his buildup in the shower was so heavy. I had to do it a few times, but it’s been over two months now and the shower looks like the day I cleaned it he’s keeping it up wonderfully now, one more thing I would highly recommend if you have natural stone like he said not using the acid, but make sure like every couple of years you scrub that shower really well and then reseal the grout and it’ll keep your shower, looking fresh and clean for a very long time

Hi Brandon, thank you for another great cleaning video!
I wonder if you might be able to help me with an on going problem I have?
I have a wet room with an anti slip floor. I’m an amputee and use crutches when I use my shower so having this flooring is a must. It’s like a regular vinyl flooring except the vinyl has little bumps all over it. The problem is a mop can’t clean it properly because of these little bumps, so I have to get down on all fours (when I’m not having a painful joints day) and scrub it with a hand held scrubbing brush. I’ve tried using a long handled scrubbing brush but I can’t seem to get enough traction to get rid of the “foot traffic” marks in certain areas, like in front of the toilet and sink areas. Even after scrubbing it with neat bleach, there are still faint dirty marks.
At the moment I use a floor cleaner (Astonish Floor Cleaner in Zesty Lemon) with a drop of bleach in the water. What product(s), if any do you recommend for removing stubborn stains from vinyl?
As always, I’m forever grateful for all your videos full of helpful hints and tips! 🥰🥰

Muriatic Acid is what “professional cleaners” use to restore porous surfaces such as anything made from composites, carbon-fiber, fiberglass, or plastic. Its ALL plastic surfaces the other 3 have fiberglass added for strength, but all plastic have pores or porous surfaces invisible to our eyes & trap scum, bacteria, dirt which is basically sealed into a product after years of neglect has yellowed the surface. Its not so much as yellowed as it seriously neglected and its turned you tub Literally into a science project.

I’m actually looking to clean a nasty camper shower, on our recently purchased camper that I’m renovating.
    I’m convinced a brush is needed! 👍🏼

After my plastic/fiberglass shower is clean I go over it with automotive style spray on wax. This helps make future cleaning much easier, just dont do the floor area.

Dude, no. You are bathing on those chemicals and absorbing them through your skin. Car wax isn’t made for the human body.

I have a fiberglass shower with calcium and rust stains and nothing is going to cut it except sandpaper. Scrub all you want and it will not come off. It is as if it is embedded into the fiberglass. Hard a rock.

I have an old porcelain tub. Not really textured at the bottom (maybe it was 50 years ago lol). Can I use the BKF More cleaner, or should I still use the Soft Cleanser?

Could someone clarify what's the benefit of using Bar Keepers Friend MORE vs BKF soft cleanser for the shower? I'll likely only get one, but missed if they are recommended for different things/if one is better.

Now explain how much time is needed to clean up a gunky shower. LOL
I've deep cleaned bathrooms that took me over 12 hours to complete, much of that time spent on bathtub & shower areas. It amazes me how dirty home bathrooms can get.
No complaints... it creates income and fun new challenges for cleaning contractors like us. 🙂

Can you use regular OG barkeeper's friend (the power kind) if you want the abbression for the first first really intense cleaning or better to stick the spray and paste?
I bought a new homw and lwts just saw that bathroom generally and shower specifically needs some major cleaning...alao would a steam cleaner help with intense cleans or not worth it?
