So at first when he was doing body shots, I was like “woah! How’d he make the camera car invisible?!”
Then I realized at 6:17 vs 6:14 that he retook shots afterwards as the car behind him is now different (but he’s in the same spot.)
Freakin’ for real, hats off to whoever did the behind-the-scenes work on this video. Amazing.

You discovered the charm of the 300. Honda knows what they’re doing. It’s not all specs on paper. The bump to 286cc made a significant difference over the previous 249.5cc of the 250R. The torque curve makes the bike very enjoyable. Not to mention the “basic” suspension and brakes are actually properly set up with good feel. The R3 and Ninja 400 are definitely faster, but I don’t discount the CBR simply because those other two exist. I actually don’t like the R3 at all, especially the current generation. The fist one was better for me. The Ninja 400 though just needs a couple tweaks to be an excellent bike. Still, I appreciate how good the Honda is. Vastly underrated and misunderstood.

Here in Thailand and other asian countries the CBR300R is one of the most popular little "bigbike". The horn is the most important part for these roads. More important than the link lights. Most peoples here don't bother using the link lights anyway. It makes riding a bit more dangerous and the horn becomes even more important. hahaha... I really had to get used to the position of the horn on the CBR500R i used to have in Bangkok. But it's pretty useful and easy to hit the horn when needed. I always wondered why Honda is placing the horn in this position. But when riding in SEA it makes a lot of sense finally.
Hahaha just my thought but many here will confirm this.
By the way i commute my M1100 EVO every day to work. And it's fun!!! I do not miss the CBR500R a second.
Only my wife wished i'd have keep it as it was more comfortable for here. Haha....
    Ride safe. Cheers
    Philippe

I have the CBR250R as well. It’s the early edition of this - looks like a VFR1200 at the front.
Super approachable and fun to ride.
Single cylinders are a delight most of the time.
My commute is about 40 minutes 90% highway and it’s excellent. You usually aren’t blasting it hard - but it’s fun when you can.
It’s not really a sports bike, but it handled well and stop great (even sans ABS)
The fuel economy is amazing too.
I have moved on from it - but still keep it as a cheap commuter and second bike - hard to fault how awesome the wee bike is.
    Honda builds a solid bike.

Nice review. As a CB300F-ABS owner (basically the same frame/engine/gearbox, etc) I find the clutch engagement, torque and first gear to be near-perfect (adjustable levers would fix just about anything reach wise). And yes, the nimble handling and light weight makes it a joy to hustle through the curves. I thought I'd have the bike for a few months and then trade up, but nope, I kept it. Love it. And yes, I frequently find myself laughing like Chase when zipping around city streets and rural roads. Highway is indeed a bit buzzy and as shown, 90 is maxed, but if you plan ahead on the freeway, it's no biggie.

@@joshcab968 so you're saying a cb300r is smaller? I was saying it's bigger. Approx 2x size but not exactly 2x size. I've ridden both and own a cb300r. The cb300r feels like a bit bigger Grom. In feeling. Never said in power outpower but rather handling.

You absolutely should! I had one for about a year as a third bike and they are a blast. Great gas mileage, they look like a big bike, but they're super light and nimble. I can't wait until the CB300 starts popping up more on the used market.

I own a 2011 CBR250R & have been very happy with it, I'm thinking about picking up a new CBR300R where the power is well improved over the '11 250R, I'm glad Honda has decided to keep the analog tach on the new 300R. My '11 250R only has an aftermarket fuel / ignition controller which is an excellent choice of engine mod one can buy for the money to power improvement ratio even on a bone stock '11 250R, Honda was very conservative with the engine management on the 250R. I would like to have a Grom though I can pick up a new 300R for a few hundred more than the Grom & the 300R is a full fledged highway capable bike.

  • @mattkrier5856

My cbr250 also used to gain fuel after I started riding. I loved that thing, a Kia Sorento took it from the world too soon.

    • @mattkrier5856

Also I used to regularly pull 100 mile round trip highway runs on my cbr250, so the 300 is definitely highway capable.

Outro crew score 7/10. Earlier I rated it 6/10, but you liked the motor so much (which I felt was the weak point) I'm up-rating it. I judge it exactly in the middle for looks. Behind the Ninja and the R3 and above the KTM and the Suzuki.
