I love this story so much that I saved under my YT categories that I created 5yrs ago called "God" because it was hope, strength, courage, and humility that I saw in you, accepting a new life and journey. Thank you for sharing.. You should become a politician. You're a blessing.

Hello! ... like yourself i am a quad. i am a C5/C6 incomplete. i have control over a lot of my body - but not enough
and i had my accident in June 2011. i have had time to adjust like yourself. I fainted. that is my story. not very interesting. i basically lost consciousness and it was a nasty landing i broke my neck same as you. i am very lucky. i was married already with 2 sons. We are still together as a family. it is tough every day. some days are better than others. but we inspire others how we've persevered through adversity. and we do continuously. Enjoy yourself! great video.

You have every right to be proud of your journey and accomplishments. Lesser things have broken many a man. You deserve all the happiness and I hope more people see your videos and listen to your story. It’s so important that people understand the lives of those of us with disabilities.

Hello. I know we haven't spoken in many years...since high school. I did try to keep up with how you were doing after your accident so I am glad you are making these videos. I wanted to take the time to let you know how proud I am of you for being such an inspiration to people and staying so strong. These videos are great to watch and I like how there are moments to smile along with you.
You are in my prayers and I think it is great that you work with kids...I do too! Keep up the great videos!

Thank you for your words and for watching! You can thank those kids that I work with for the idea. it's crazy where life takes us and I know you had your own battles. Hope all is well!

Corey O. I often think about those we have gone to school with and yes a lot had changed and we all face our battles. it is how we grow from them that says alot about us as people. I have to agree...these kids have changed my life these past two years. they open our eyes to so much.
all is well and thank you for asking. I like to shadow your class one day...I would like to see how you work with children
      have a great day

You have a considerable burden to bear, in the form of physical limitation. It is good not to focus too much on the whys but instead on understanding your true purpose in this life, which is likely to be elsewhere and also on what is left, such as your good speaking ability and being an inspiration to others. Having been through so much already you have proven you have the strength to continue.

My years of working with our Australian Quadriplegic Association (1978_85) exposed myself to many similar surprise like yours. The men (usually) were physically active & healthy, but usually working, in complete adult living.
In your advantage, you had yet to start your adult life, so it was much easier. In my car accident, with severe Traumatic Brain Injury (1985, aged 34), this was much more serious. Emotions, cognitive, physical, and all sensation (not just lower body).
Best wishes for your career ahead. The world is much more capable, helpful than we oldies had experienced it. The older the older person is, there is so much more to "undo" about that old person. Survivors of medical disasters are now not dying as they did earlier. So the success stories will become better, & more frequent now.

I view other sights but have to say your honesty on the downside for few years was refreshing. No one ever describes from an active mind to a now disabled body how to work those together again. Depression is very disabling but an injury unseen

I came across an article in my local paper this week for the charity event for Melanie. It brought back memories of you and her having your first wheelchair race on the rehab unit. So I had to look you up...and I came across your great videos and stories. It is wonderful to see the wonderful, successful, humble man you have become. Thanks for inspiring others!

I wish you could have given this exact story to us in class, I’m glad I’ve gotten to know you and that you posted your UA-cam on your Instagram. You’ve been such an inspiration to not just me but so many more of your students, bits and pieces of you rub off onto every single one of us whether it’s from sports medicine or leadership, even semester health class, keep up the amazing work Mr.O, and thank you for being one of the most if not the most honest teachers I’ve ever had the privilege of learning from. I appreciate it more than words could ever describe

    Great video Corey
you’re an inspiration to others for sure keep up the good work .I got hurt when I was 19 .I’m 54 now . I start out as a C-5 C6 and now I’m C7C8. I’ve been where you are and you’ve got a lot further to go but you can get there one day at a time. And by further to go I mean the life experiences that come with being in a wheelchair relationships sex family relationships friend relationships ups and downs. When you do have a bad day shake it off the next day keep fighting. The one thing if I may make a suggestion I think it’s imperative that you start to incorporate having armrest on your chair. They help you with weight shifts they help you with being able to grab obstacles off the floor that are heavy . Boost your self on to a counter if you needed to get something. I have no idea how I would be able to do some of things I do if it weren’t for my armrest. The main thing is that they can stop you from being dead weight when you’re in your chair . It becomes so natural to lean on them and just shift from side to side and push your self up instead of putting your hands on your wheels. Also they help protect your clothes when the weathers not good and you can hold more stuff in your lap as well. I don’t know how the Facebook contact stuff works but if you ever need to get in touch with me and ask me a question feel free I’ll answer as best I can with the 35 years experience that I have. Keep up the good work and the number one thing to watch is your weight maintain your weight remember your arms have to do all the work.👍🏾

Hi V. Unlike you or Corey I didn't have an accident and lost my mobility ( which is definitely a life changing event for each of you) but. I watch these type of videos to get an idea of how to manage or get through a life changing event.
It's been well over a year now since I lost my beautiful home and became homeless. Since then my life has changed so dramatically and I've had to cope with a loss of confidence and self esteem coupled with a great deal of shame and embarrassment. It's truly been a life changing event for me now aged 55 . I often close my eyes and recall every person, event and circumstance that shared that space with me. I may aswell have lost a limb, because my life has changed considerably and I miss being there every waking moment. I suppose you too must recall what life was like before your unfortunate life changing event. My sincere regards'
