@@IonBlaze1 Going from a full time 6 day a week raiding guild circa 2006ish, 6 hours a day would not be considered for guild membership. We were 2nd guild on Innoruuk (Nameless now) to break into plane of time.
When I was a kid,Unrest came out for the first time in EQ2,my brother and I set up a group to finally check this place out It was great,we got to see the zone we met our first guildies in EQ again Worked our way through the whole zone,to the end boss Ready to end the zone/dungeon I'm the tank,so I pull him All of a sudden, the screen goes into a haze, and this skull appears..And it terrifies me I thought I had just gotten a virus or something on my dads new PC So I freak out and reset the PC I come back into the zone and I can hear my brother laughing his ass off at the fact it scared me so much I will never forget that
I remember when this zone was introduced in EQ2 back in 2007. Initially it was barred off at launch of EoF since it wasn't ready yet, but the moment it came out it was by far one of the more difficult endgame content introduced so far. It was a mixed bag and I think many felt it should've been contested, but at the sametime I do appreciate the heavily conscripted idea for an instance, something that wasn't really tried at the time with exceptions to Nektulos Castle which in many aspects follows the same design of a group oriented haunted mansion.
I really enjoy your videos. My late wife and I played original flavor EQ right after we met and it was a staple in our lives until EQ2 beta (she got in, I didn't) after which we played EQ 2 until she passed in 2017. I cannot play EQ2 without her. I just can't. But your videos have helped remind me of how fun the game was with her. Thank you.
Great video, however, from my understanding the priest of thule was responsible for the original unleashing of the undead as well, it’s not just a later thing. He was an erudite from Paineel who had heard of Unrest before the first game.
I'm not going to lie, at 8:06 it sounded like you said "And this step is just like cooking blow..." I laughed and was like "I'm sorry, what? And listened it like 2 more times" XD
This is a great video, love your breakdown of everything. Very impressed with how much thought they put into everything in eq 2. Wish I had ppl to play it with. Bear Necessities is the best!
Man, Estate of Unrest is cool as fuck. That jumpscare you mentioned at 4:05 is an amazing little element to the gathering element you need to do. There's so many cool elements to this dungeon, makes me wanna adapt it for my rpg group. Would be a lot of fun to delve through.
Unrest is probably my favorite zone of all time. I've never seen it in EQ 2, but I like a lot of what they've done to make it more interesting. Not all of it though. Definitely an interesting remake!
Are there still groups for stuff like this on Varsoon? I gave the server a try last month and got to 20 before getting distracted. I'd really love doing something like this though if there is enough activity or interest!
Server is dead until Kunark launches Aug 8th. Varsoon is most active when expansions launch & when there's holiday EXP bonuses. Every other time, it's mostly dead for lower lvl grouping. Everyone just raid logs.
I forget can you go in as a higher level person and check out all the old zones or are you locked out? So like if I just wanted to run around with one character and not do a bunch of old shenanigans will I be able to visit Old content
Yeah I think you can do old content as a higher lvl, it's just there's no challenge cause everything dies to 1 hit. I think there's a way to buy a temporary delevel too. Chronomage or something
You can find a chronomage in any major city and they'll change your level to anything lower so you can still get some level of experience. However if you don't want to be attacked by every mob you can just go in grey which should be level 85+ and just look around. I believe you still need to do the puzzles though.
I played EQ from January/February 2000 to around 2008/2009 and then recently tried EQ2 due to my GF playing. However, I've never had a single group in 3 years. How'd you find a group? Hell, I advertised in-game and on the forums, to no avail. As a result, I'm about to call it for EQ2. There are some things I love about it, but it's been solo the entire time with little guild interaction. Not worth the money as an MMO.
Wow, EQ2 looks really bad. Especially with that arrow spamming class that every game has to have despite how stupid it is. Oh and the dumb as hell damage numbers spammed on screen like every other crap modern game.
The game is 20 years old. Some of the those things were new to gaming back in the day. There are some breathtaking zones and lookout points in EQ2. Sleepers Tomb is amazing. The Sleeper himself is terrifying. The game has so many ways to add strategy and puzzle solving that original EQ lacked. The game was far from perfect but it never “looked bad”.
Special thank you to Bear Necessities :)
Love Bear. I watch all his stuff.
Between you and Redbeardflynn you have got me back playing eq1 actually, albeit very casually. Uh casual is 6 hours a day for me.
6 hours is casual lol! I love redbeardflynn's stuff too man. He's a great guy

Imagine having to figure out all of those puzzles yourself. Must have been one hell of an experience. Wish more games did stuff like that.
Yeah definitely. It's a really cool zone to do.
Your narrative videos are so great. Love how you tell the story's, integrate the gameplay, quests and lore. Nice work!
^^^ This.
That is a really nice compliment :) Thank you so much

Great video Ayonic, I would watch an entire series like this.
never played eq2, just eq1, and i love living vicariously through your adventure
Oh well thank you for watching anyways. I appreciate that
@@IonBlaze1 you rule!
Such a breath of fresh air to see you posting new videos. You should setup a series and static group for the next TLP. I would love to get in on that.
Hey thank you :) We'll see what the next TLP is. I'm hoping for random loot again

This stirs up vauge memories of doing these zones. Hard to 4-box iirc.
Yeah it definitely is. There's a few mobs classified as 2x raid so you need some real DPS in there to handle it.
I found Unrests lore randomly trying to do the Najena quest blind.. turned out to be tied into the bard epic.. was really cool to piece together.
never knew how dark the story for unrest was. Makes me happy now for all the times I killed that dwarf in the basement.
Oh yeah, Garanel is a bad guy!

Yeah it's definitely a fresh take. But it's more of a 1 & done zone in EQ2. No reason to do it twice unless you want some specific gear drop
I never played eq 2, thanks for the nice video again. Very entertaining and well made.
Thank you Wolfdar :)
Very well done. 🎉 glad to see someone going into lore and possibly getting people interested in the games dungeons
Great vid as always man - Keep doing what you do Ion!
Thank you so much :)
Ion Blaze video?! INSTA CLICK!
Haha thank you. That's really nice :)
great video i really loved hearing the lore!
Love the EQ2 content. More!!!
Haha thank you :)
What this reminds me is that the heart and soul of EQ2 went to shit after Skyshrine ended.
My favorite zone in EQ1
great video man
Thank you for the compliment :)
Ion blaze makes an eq video, i instant click.
Oh sweet thank you :)
Great job on the video. I wish i had more hands so I could give this video 4 thumbs up. 👍👍👍👍
Haha thank you so much Pharmacy Brain :)
great video!
Thank you :)
Unrest was a right of package for Everquest 1. For Everquest 2 it was tedious and no where near as much fun to say the least.

Excited for EQ3 i hope they dont fuck it up.
EQ2 looks very WoW like. I'm not sure how I feel about this... cool lore though, never knew the story of Unrest. Sad.
Yeah WoW & EQ2 are very similar. EQ2 just had the better graphics.

Hey thanks for coming by bubbleonia :)
