I was there 1999.. I got EverQuest the week it came out.. at the time I was working at a casino and our weekend was Thursday Friday.. I got my first copy that week It open… not only did I get a copy.. but 7 or 8 of my co-workers from the casino got a copy.. we worked the night shift.. 8 pm to 4 am.. and when we got off work we had EverQuest parties… I think we were the first ones to actually do that.. I can really say that… one of the guys we worked with had cable modem so we all met at his house and play…we all played on the rathe server…we would cook blueberry bagels and turkey bacon and stay up 24 hours straight.. I miss the rathe ..but I have to tell you.. the test server is by far the best server I’ve been on as far as how nice every single person is..I’ll stay there from now on…there is no need for plat on test.. if you need something or looking for it.. players will give it to you… you need help with a mob.. they will drop what they are doing to help kill it..
I played on The Rathe back in 2002. I lost all contact with my old guild.. I wonder about them often these days. Ever met anyone from Souls of Rathe guild?
Glad to see you back making videos on EQ1/2 again. What this game needs (along with many other things) is more content creators to help spread the word of this kick ass still on going game
Weird... I started play EQ the day it was released. I was completely addicted. I had 4 accounts on both EQ1 and EQ2 servers, one for every member of my family and we always played together every Saturday. As a family we went to EQ2 conventions and made lots of friends, however, as soon as all our toons hit lvl 50 we moved away from EQ and went to WOW. I did start to play the free version of EQ2 a year or two ago, but other things in life got in the way, so I stopped. I'm happy to see the game is still alive. I miss my necro and kiting druid.
its honestly very cathartic seeing these issues of powerlevelling, krono, and botting/boxing becoming such a giant issue for both games. I warned people constantly, give them an inch, they'll take the whole foundation. well, here we are, where boxing, botting and krono farming are constantly at the forefront of discussion of the game! oh well, can't save them all.
Thank you for the video and your honesty. We are currently playing on the Mischief server and having some fun. Our mains are on Firiona Vie and most are 120 or 115 but the content at that level is just not fun. Hope they don't ban you after all the years you put into trying to celebrate the game and telling great stories from within the game. We enjoy the storytelling videos where you explain a zone and give an account of that days play session. I do not enjoy watching people play in real time, but do enjoy the way you show it in your videos. Keep up the good work Ayonic. Your coverage of EQ2 got us to make some new toons on Varsoon for when Mischief is offline.
Thank you so much for the compliments & support. I try to be as honest as I can even if that could hurt. Need more of that nowadays to be honest. Varsoon is gonna be great Aug 8th. Kunark launches. Best expansion ever for the game
I just started playing EQ with Oakwynd, and while I've enjoyed it, the boxers/Krono farmers have been the biggest issue. The sort of person who locks down a camp not because they need anything, but just to prevent others from getting it so they can sell it for a profit instead of giving everyone the chance to get a camp they need. That's problematic, and not having played EQ before it's very odd to me that the community is so okay with it, even defending them.
I totally agree with this. The bot farmers are making it so that there is no way to get an item other than to spend Kronos to buy exclusively from them. CoS and other rare items in less popular zones are perma camped by these people...I refuse to buy those items from anyone now. Other than that, I'm having a great time playing with new friends especially the raiding content I didn't get to do 20 years ago!
@@wanglelife I've never played before other than like to level 12 on P99, so it's all new to me, and seeing the rampant defense of people trying to perma-camp items to sell them is completely unknown to me. But I've been flamed for even daring to say that it's bad to let these robber barons loot gear they dont' need just to sell so maybe I just don't "get" it I'm still having a load of fun when I thought I'd quit within a week, but never having the chance at all to get items like GEB because it's perma-camped by some botter selling the loot 24-7 is just disgusting.
@@Nobleshield Its not just you But I think at this point most of the rest of us have moved on. This has been going on for years Daybreak wants the krono money not us looting are own items so have done and will do nothing about it.
I use to not like it. But after some consideration and experience it's not as bad as it seems. I'll explain why. On a tlp you need to push a certain pace otherwise it's just not the server style for you anyways. When kunark went live I was level 40 and within 24 hours I had 3 krono in items from Karnors just Exping a few levels. If your even remotely active on these servers you should be sitting on 10+ krono by level 50 anyways. In that regard you can just buy certain items easier then camping them. Since your limited on time it wouldn't work camping every item you want anyways. The server would just move on.
I've been saying the game needs personal loot forever. Would solve every problem. However, it would utterly destroy the economy, especially the krono economy. I'm ok with that though; overall it would make the game less annoying. Saying krono is easy to earn therefore the bottlenecks are ok is a ridiculous argument I won't take seriously. The overall problem is that there is a huge conflict of interest when it comes to fixing these problems; the game is likely only profitable because of these problems; fixing the game would probably shut it down. The game creates a problem and provides a real money transaction solution to the problem, just like mobile games. Oh and because you're all so young you don't remember vanilla EQ when GMs enforced quality of life. You were not allowed to ks or lock a camp down forever. The GM would enforce a line and once you get your item/spawn you're out, next person gets the camp. This infinite camp crap was not tolerated. Neither was dps racing. It really wasn't until the GM presence completely vanished that it started turning into a cess pool. The owners shrugged and said but krono as a solution.
Eq 1 progression server Agnar is locked to Planes of Power/Ldon for those that love old everquest pop expansion and the older expansions without the fear of neverending grinding or feeling that starting new characters a pain. The community is very welcoming with no barriers to finding friends or guild that will gladly help new players to the server with plans to end game content and raids. Hope you to see you all there
As a newb to EQ Agnarr looks interesting (if I wasn't enjoying Oakwynd) because it's like the "golden age", enough interesting things but not super old-school, nor confusing like Live. Problem still seems to be you have to box to level, as there aren't really any lowbie groups.
@@clarenceworley5149 LDON was my second favorite expansion ever with the randomized dungeons and vendor gear. do a lot of people on Agnarr still do LDON or is it all PoP?
It's also extreme difficulty (the RPG type not twitch action). Grouping pretty much mandatory after a while, serious punishments, huge time investments etc.
Been loving P99 since I started about a year ago, first time playing EQ ever in my life, one of my friends from WoW got me to try it out and just how chill the community is made me love it. Like everyone I ran into was so happy to see an ogre warrior without any twink items😂 I like the medium-core difficulty where death is a heavy toll but not game over. Also it was really smart of daybreak to let them use the IP, cause 1 year ago if you asked me if I’d ever pay a sub to play EQ I’d lol but now I’m definitely considering.
p99 has been one of the best and long lasting success stories of EQ franchise. I would rather support those guys to keep the servers running than go beyond the original content. The difficulty of the game is what brings me back to it and the strategy to learn how to play solo when groups aren't available has been fun as well.
Really enjoyed this run of videos, thanks IB! I play on live, raid a few nights a week, and generally quite enjoy the current state of the game. Hope you're having a great summer!
Been inspired by your content to pick up the game, and as much as Im struggling as a F2P to figure out where exactly to go and what exactly to be doing, the charm of the game is still here
Just wanted to show some love❤❤❤ i been playing WoW for almost 15 years and I can actually say ive given it up. Ive been watching you on and off for a year or so now and im finally doing it. Ive made a character on Oakwynd, a cleric! And ill be playing EQ2 soon after ive settled into EQ1. Anyway, just wanted to thank you, Mr. Blaze, for bringing that innocent spark of adventure back into my life. DAYBREAK COLLAB WITH MY BOI
Loving your content! Just got into EQ for the first time, and your content is so fascinating as a look into something I really missed out on. Can’t wait to see more!
I feel the dad part. I have two kids and the first came in 2013 when ffxiv arr, eso, and such came out and i ended up playing games that allowed jump in and out co op. Monster hunter and ffxiv helped me scratch that itch. Nowadays it’s easier but still have to keep an eye out for the kiddos.
ya, been playing ff14 for 3.5 years now. dabbled in p99 this last week, after watching these videos. interesting, but, well.. super tedious tbh. 3 days to get to level 5. lol. it has its place, but fo r me.. i prefer current games like ff. and the story beats them all, for me. after screwing around with p99 for a few days, id rather level alts in ff, and re enjoy the msq.. than endure the hard old school grind
I played the OG EQ about 2000 when kunark expansion came out til just before Wow came out then moved to that. Recently just got back into game obviously with new account but back to old tunare server I originally played 20 years ago. Its been fun... playing casually and so I expect I will never have to worry aboit not enough to do. I know its a social game but I like the solo side of things as I dont want game to ever be at a point I can't log off immediately for. Thanks for your videos bro. Brings back memories.
thank you so much for the videos the last few days. I've been watching your stuff for a couple of years or so and it' always such a boost to see a new set of videos coming out. I hope family life is suiting you and thanks for taking the time away from that to make these :)
I been enjoying Oakwynd. Though there are times finding a grp can be rough, and the pl spam is getting a bit out of hand. Wish some devs/gms would come in to take care of these, cuz they will tie up all named and non named mobs in many picks
I unfortunately don't have time to get on Old Quinn I'm looking forward to the next round I think next year I may have time. I logged in about three or four days after launch and it was so spectacular to see Qeynos filled with people!! I've done varsity on EQ2 for a bit of time this year and that was lots of fun so I think the doves are doing a great job addressing issues and although it's not perfect it's a great social game and I hope it continues for many years to come
On TLPs (especially Yelinak) they needed to buff the four Warders so The Sleeper can't be awakened so easily within a few hours of Velious launching. It was so easy to awaken The Sleeper on Yelinak that it was accomplished by some childish, vindictive, and cheating guild leader the same night that Velious launched.
I've never played Everquest but having played Champions of Norrath back when that was new and really getting into the world, I've had an interest in checking out the source games for decades now. How difficult is it for a completely new player to go through EQ1 and 2 in 2023? Biggest barrier seems to be getting/finding a group.
The fact that this game is receiving another expansion is incredibly evident of how incredible this game is. It's spanned a generation and still has a beloved fanbase to this day. Despite its dated graphics, this game is evident that gameplay and experience are far more valuable than mere visuals. Something a lot of AAA developers could learn from.
Oh you're definitely right. Graphics are important but they take a backseat to gameplay. Minecraft dominates with crap graphics. Battlebit is wrecking Battlefield games
Btw something that I think would be totally awesome added content to your channel would be a "Raid Guide" So many people have no clue how to do most of the raids properly. Having something that is out there to give even just the basics of every raid from classic to live would gain a lot of popularity!
May 2024 I really hope we get another mischief. I also really liked vaniki but like you said it wasn't very popular. I was the 3rd level 40 Cleric after release and the second cleric to have Temp. I made A LOT of money off temp but vaniki was really really fun but low pop
This video is the best assessment of EQ I have ever seen. Your comments about boxers are spot on as well as a only takes a few people abusing to ruin for all boxers. I play on test now and it has a lot less of bot armies as the economy is practically non existant (ask for it in general and someone will give it to you and everything in bazaar is 1pp). This is such a fun game with a ton of content, all you have to do is look past the graphics and there is years woth of content to play.
Every once and a while I shout out that I heard rumors that a GM Event where a Brownie Naval Invasion of Freeport will take place. Hoping to a) get some role playing happening and maybe b) the devs might take that into consideration and implement that. Who knows. Lucan DeLere heads up a resistance against the fay folk from Faydwer. Stranger things have happened.
Started on varsoon 6 days ago LVL 26 dirge mainly soloing it’s been awesome to see folks out questing and interacting I’ve met some cool people on there I wish there was more low lvl pop for sure but the expac did just get unlocked so it makes sense that every bodies pushing there mains still been a blast none the less hope your having a good time with RoK so far 😄
I'm fairly new and dabbled in P99 in early 2019 and really started learning EQ this May. I have played on Oakwynd since launch. I only seemed to group up with one person on Oakwynd and since then I've mostly been grinding solo. I kinda don't know who to ask to group up with since I get the feeling a lot of people are min/maxxing and don't want to group up. So far my dark elf necro is level 7 and I've been mainly grinding in the Commonlands. I feel a sense of FOMO for not having leveled during Classic and am afraid of getting far behind the actual levelers but I forgot Oakwynd also grants bonuses to alts so maybe people are leveling again. Ironically I've had fewer social experiences in EQ than in Classic WoW. I mainly play EQ1, Embers Adrift, and Classic WoW nowadays for MMOs. I might try EQ2 but it just doesn't interest me as much because it feels like an uncanny blend that isn't as distinctive as the other 3. I also think it's funny how WoW moved away from mob tagging for the most part and EQ started it with Oakwynd in the form of what they call Encounter Lacking in an attempt to cut down on monopolizing, kill stealing, and other toxic behavior.
one of the biggest changes they can make is reducing the xp needed to level from 60-end game. as it stands on live and tlp's that have progressed beyond POP, once you hit 60 you go from getting 5% xp from dropping a yellow con to 1% and it continues to get worse from there.
I am going to be incredibly sad if the day ever comes where the EQ servers have no choice but to shut down. Other MMOs that came out during the launch of EQ, and into the next few years, have come and gone, and it scares me. How can we make EQ stay? I honestly cannot imagine a life without EQ. Yes yes i know, there is P99. But i don't want the original EQ to ever go away, and i am sure MILLIONS feel the same way. Came home at 3am on May 19, 1999 after watching The Phantom Menace, holy shit what a magical time. And yeah i called in sick the next day. I came home at 3am, called my buddy who went to see the movie with me, we decided to go to the Crushbone gates, because that's where we were leveling. There will never be a more magical time when it comes to MMOs for me, it was and always will be the pinnacle.
I can't believe EverCrack is still a thing. I haven't touched it since the early 2000s. I remember playing a Necro and got to lvl 20 which took forever back then. I played for 3 days straight to get from 19 to 20 and then....I was at an Orc camp AND passed out at my computer. I woke up on my keyboard and had found that I died. I lost a level and ran back to my corpse. Got my stuff and passed out again and woke up to being dead again. This happened to the point I lost 2 full levels until I collected my stuff and went back to Freeport or whatever the human starting city was and logged out and went to bed.
My uncle has been playing EQ 1 since release, and even met his wife on there. (they are still together today) I swear to god neither of them have missed playing a day outside of the birth of their children and when moving states. I am terrified of their commitment to the game.
Ion, you could also talk about some of the ridiculous other EQMU severs, like Imperium, where you get to solo raid bosses with 1-2 characters, all the way up to PoP. Also look into Project Quarm
I've been trying to get into Project 1999 for a year, Ive never played ever quest at all before I'm finding it super difficult. Just trying to find my way around has been really tough. Any advice. I have no interest in live or TLP's because of the cash shop which in my mind is p2W. Also i really enjoy your videos they made me want to try this game when i normally never would have.
Uhhh, not really sure if I can give much advice to be honest. You kinda learn as you go. You can look up the p99 wiki for your class to see if there's any class quirks you might benefit learning. I learned a lot about playing my class better from talking to raiders of my class in the guilds I was in. Guilds help out a lot.
I had an epiphany . 8:00 response . Have an encounter bubble you can fight through , to then join , and be awarded based on math. Albeit , I would include a warding feature for the group of such interlopers. Which will cost them to invoke ... or just a little bit harder for said interloper ;) ?
Started playing in 2001 or so, I was in a top guild in the game's first official progression server 2008ish... man what a ride. I've booted up weird emulator servers a few times but get bored fast. I'm a modern gamer now, old eq gameplay just doesn't do it. I really wonder what the experience is like for people playing that 29th expansion. What do they do day to day in the game? I'd be curious to know what their experience is like. When i quit, the endgame was raiding and grinding AA.
OK well the algorithm showed me your videos about a week ago, I posted this comment 5 days ago, and now I've been kicking around on EQEMU and will be playing at the launch of Project Quarm next week... and it is all your fault sir... the least you can do is come play Project Quarm as well, it would be sick to see you there!
It's cool to see how many classic diehard are finally seeing just how good EQ was in that golden age from PoR to Underfoot thanks to the Mischief server keeping them interested beyond planes of power. IMO the very best content of the game lies in that range, especially Underfoot.
My lv 88 Pally on FV is basically dead in the water where exp is concerned so I use the Quest tab's "Overseer" quest feature. not fun but at least I get some exp out of it.
@@IonBlaze1 imo it depends on what you want. 80s and 90s are also some of the easiest levels to find a PL for, so if the goal is just to get to 100+ content it's usually worth going that route. Soling/moloing that range is miserable, though.
I used to go to POP and wait till the banks were full, then my guild (Flowers of Happiness) would make ogres and block the bank doors. People would get for ports to get out or in. It got so bad GMs would port us out, We would just ignore the GM and run back and block the bank. We kept doing it till we had to leave to raid.
hey great video :D i have 1 question i want to start playing eq1 or 2 but im not sure whats more for me maybe You could help me I really like games like classic wow (just dont like that in classic wow ppl are just rushing to end gmae and u end up not having group for dungeons etc) i was also a fan of knight online back like 14 years ago? So maybe You could guide me what game and server would be the best for some similar experience?
P99 Green if you want to play on a mature version of classic everquest (includes first two expacs). Project Quarm on Oct 1 if you want a fresh start in classic everquest (brand new server that will progress thru first 5 expacs). Or wait for an official daybreak server TLP to open up (idk when next one is) if you want to have more modern MMO conveniences. (Classic EQ makes Classic WoW look like a shiny toy with many bells and whistles!) (And as for EQ2. I have no idea. I'm sure it's a fine game but it's not one that changed the world like EQ did.)
after trying P99 server for the first time after randomly discovering the Everquest D20 TTRPG Rulebooks ... it was funny to see how a game calling everQUEST ... did actually not have many quests back then. Or storylines. It was really barebone. Did that change with the additional expensions or it this game mainly to grind for levels and loot without much "quests and small stories" except for "get x amount of y" (not to hate i'm just interested. I mean the backstory that i read in the TTRPG books and online is really interesting)
Back when i played during velious and planes of power era there used to be a program called eqplaynice that would force everquest run better and allow multi boxing. Not sure if thats still a thing
A challenge of open tagging just having 300 characters running a mouse macro... I think that sounds fun though. Maybe rotate zones that allow for open tagging. So the whole Community can just log in and make a big party at different spawns
I like how you keep it safe by mentioning boxing taking 6 separate computers crammed in your room. So innocent. We all know what everyone is using. We just don't mention it in the open streets.
I had been playing since beta. Quit 2 years ago after a couple of my toons got banned because I was boxing. I had 6 accounts all full. So easy just to box and enjoy the game instead of waiting half a day to find a group. Disappointed because I really did love it.
Just wish they'd use the engine refresh as an opportunity to build a client that would work on both mac & windows. Been a long running joke that the only reason I still own a windows pc is to play EQ.
@@IonBlaze1 I mean there is no native mac client and the guidance on the forums is playing from a VM is bannable. Like your 4 levels of cheating maybe some people do but is it worth the risk since there is no clear answer?
I bet you do have the means to test out the modern content on EQ2; check your oldest daybreak accounts /claim on a live server - you may have a 120 boost sitting in there; if not, there are legit pl ways to get you to the upper end 80ish in a matter of hours
If I want to see the endgame and all the expansions, but also want the “journey to endgame” that P99 offers, what Progression server should I join? I am guessing Yelinak?
The biggest reason people bitched about oakwynd is because they just wanted a redo of mischief. the only people who hated FTE are the ones that power lvl crews and camp stealers. yeah it was buggy on launch, but most of it is patched and working better than trying to out damage 6 mages barging into your camp.
I've seen on the official EQ2 forums on multiple occasions where they explicitly state that boxing using tools such as ISBoxer is against TOS and could result in bans. I sincerely wish they would take the EQ1 approach and allow it. Considering how much less popular EQ2 is compared to EQ1, you can spend a significant amount of time LFG and still not get anything done. Or, you have people like you and I who have young families and don't have much time, or have to play at off-peak hours, which makes it that much more difficult. Botters aside, I think there's a strong case for allowing players to multibox, and the devs would be wise to recognize that this could substantially improve the number of paid accounts.
I think we can set more etiquette as a community. Rather than shunning multiboxing, we create expectations like 3 real life people double box.. to say that it's a good luck if you drop some multibox characters to include people into a group. I've been seeing it more and more naturally.
P99 red has around 20 players during the daily lowpop hours with 80 -120 players during high pop. It has a decent hardcore community going on it right now. There is always pvp going on at the endgame, do not let the lack of YT's (Player kills) fool you. There are 2 raiding guilds at the top end that are constantly after each other trying to take out what raid targets they can while preventing the other from getting kills. Honestly this server has some of the best players I have ever seen in EQ. Think of a lot of the experianced red players as Special Forces in military. They have answers to almost every situation. Red is brutal. But the threat of Pvp brings a much needed element to the game. It makes every single piece of gear you manage to get Important, If you manage to get a fully kitted out character and have no more loot you would ever want The pvp will keep you showing up on that character not to get loot but now to defend your team. With the low population new low man strats are being developed all the time (Check p99 wiki Lord Yelinak Bowquest strat for a recent example) Valued Items between Red and Blue/Green are vastly different. It makes a lot of weird drops that are nearly useless on blue/green heavily contested and under high demand. Now the bad side. The Toxicity. It can be bad. And there is alot ALOT of tomfoolery that happens between the big guilds that really makes this bad. I thought I would hate Red. But its the best Everquest experiance I have ever had hands down.
Is there somewhere you can find the number of players on the official servers that isn't "Low, Medium, High"? You mentioned 1,000 servers on P99. Any way to get real numbers like that?
Didn't they nerf the loot in Mischief where mobs locked behind progression wont be added to loot tables for random or something to that effect so solo players still kinda get screwed
I miss everquest 1 I don"t need to see my reflection in a bolt head 100 miles away over content, games where pretty much everyone else is a real person. I use to text chat with people from all over the world.
Truebox servers always do the best because it helps prevent the mass krono/plat bot farms that EQ1 has a huge problem with. They also tend to be more social. Look at Mischief vs Thornblade. Literal sister servers with exactly the same ruleset minus Mischief being true box and Thornblade being open. Thornblade had such a massive issue with botting that by Luclin and PoP era any real players transferred to Mischief. Once the real people left, the botters had nobody to sell to and the server is dead. Mischief on the other hand still has a large population with multiple raiding guilds going into Seeds of Destruction, which is way longer then the average TLP server.
After watching this last night I decided to reinstall EQ2 just to check it out again. Haven't played it in years, and for the stupidest reason I probably never will again. Unlike EQ1 that has separate character slots for each server, EQ2 has like 8 slots (total, and with All Access) for ALL servers. All my slots are full. I like using level 1 characters to relearn how to play - something easy enough in EQ1. But with EQ2 you can't do that if you're coming back. If I want to play, my only option is using one of my level 100 characters from when I played before, deleting those characters and all the time spent on them to free up slots, or opening my wallet to buy a new slot. No thanks. I reinstalled EQ1 instead an in 5 minutes I was running around Gloomingdeep just by picking a server I hadn't played much on before.
Placing a tagging system for engagement as mentioned would do nothing but promote "attempted kill stealing". If you give reductions in exotic for the mobs because more than 1 group helped, then you would have any nearby group hitting your stuff and reducing the exp you would otherwise get full credit for. Not really a good idea
EQ as a franchise needs to figure out how to address the fragmenting of their community. By splitting people across so many servers they are hurting the viability of their player base. I understand their problem - they have SOOOOOO many legacy characters / accounts that they would need to solve. Yea, that's a big problem. But they really need to solve it and find a way to bring larger populations together. I played both EQ and EQ2 during their "best" days, and the games were amazing. A large part of that however was the fact that the population levels made everything feel alive. Dwindling population is one of the main reasons I stopped playing. I wish it were otherwise, because I've never found a game since that could hook me the way Everquest did.
I was there 1999.. I got EverQuest the week it came out.. at the time I was working at a casino and our weekend was Thursday Friday.. That had to be super fun to play like that back in the day! Envious!
I played on The Rathe back in 2002. I lost all contact with my old guild.. I wonder about them often these days.
Ever met anyone from Souls of Rathe guild?
Little George you are probably a registered s/o. Plus you lie
Ooooh 1999 , that why this game literally looks like it could run on a PS1 or N64 consoles ..
Miss your videos brother hope all is well!
Glad to see you back making videos on EQ1/2 again. What this game needs (along with many other things) is more content creators to help spread the word of this kick ass still on going game
Thank you for the support :) Yeah it'd be sweet to have more content pumping :)
Llol. Dont believe this guys. Eq2 is populated with staff and bots Daybreak killed it. Dont bother stay at wow.

Man the music always gets me, the nostalgia.
It would be cool if they did a P99-type TLP that repeatedly went to PoP, dumped it's population into Agnarr, then restarted again
I started in 99 then quit around 2005…Agnarr brought me back-it’s a great server with awesome people.
@@clarenceworley5149 LDON was my second favorite expansion ever with the randomized dungeons and vendor gear. do a lot of people on Agnarr still do LDON or is it all PoP?
Everquest's peak was on "Everest Online Adventure (frontiers)" on the PS2. Released Nov 18, 2003.
Best version of Everquest ever, in my opinion
Im 28 so EQ was before my time, but I kinda want to try it because there are no social mmos anymore
Haha! I'm only 29. Yeah P99 is probably what you want to check out. Free to play & super social.
That's awesome man! I'm glad you're having a fun time.
p99 has been one of the best and long lasting success stories of EQ franchise. I would rather support those guys to keep the servers running than go beyond the original content. The difficulty of the game is what brings me back to it and the strategy to learn how to play solo when groups aren't available has been fun as well.
i just want P99 to go to PoP
Really enjoyed this run of videos, thanks IB! I play on live, raid a few nights a week, and generally quite enjoy the current state of the game. Hope you're having a great summer!
Thank you so much for the compliment. Hope you're having fun :)
Thank you for the compliments. That's a huge change. I wish you best of luck :)
Loving your content! Just got into EQ for the first time, and your content is so fascinating as a look into something I really missed out on. Can’t wait to see more!
Just started a Bard on Oakwynd. Wish me luck. I'm getting ready to dive in to your content to learn more about the class
Oh boy do they interrupt game time lol. All good though, they're better than any game :)
ya, been playing ff14 for 3.5 years now. dabbled in p99 this last week, after watching these videos. interesting, but, well.. super tedious tbh. 3 days to get to level 5. lol. it has its place, but fo r me.. i prefer current games like ff. and the story beats them all, for me. after screwing around with p99 for a few days, id rather level alts in ff, and re enjoy the msq.. than endure the hard old school grind
Another great video. I look forward to the next one :D
Thank you so much for coming by every day :)
Thank you so much for the support & the family appreciates it :)
I been enjoying Oakwynd. Though there are times finding a grp can be rough, and the pl spam is getting a bit out of hand. Wish some devs/gms would come in to take care of these, cuz they will tie up all named and non named mobs in many picks
Seems like there is a huge conflict of interest with GMs and rule enforcement on EQ 1. The PL people pay subs and Daybreak looooves money.
Heard some huge banwave just happened. Wonder if that helped at all
I unfortunately don't have time to get on Old Quinn I'm looking forward to the next round I think next year I may have time.
I logged in about three or four days after launch and it was so spectacular to see Qeynos filled with people!!
I've done varsity on EQ2 for a bit of time this year and that was lots of fun so I think the doves are doing a great job addressing issues and although it's not perfect it's a great social game and I hope it continues for many years to come
Started everquest this month on oakwynd, still finding my mqrk but so far ,its fun, also discovered your video yesterday and i have to say their great .
Oof that sucks! I've never gotten the chance to see it in person cause someone always spawns it at the most inconvenient time
I've never played Everquest but having played Champions of Norrath back when that was new and really getting into the world, I've had an interest in checking out the source games for decades now. How difficult is it for a completely new player to go through EQ1 and 2 in 2023? Biggest barrier seems to be getting/finding a group.
I'm in the same boat, loved both Champions games and really wanna get into Everquest itself but it seems kinda daunting to get into.
I've got my popcorn ready!!
Thanks for info!! I am going to work on downloading the game tomorrow...want to play again
Open Tagging is amazing and I don't think I could ever go back to the "KS Enabling" or encounter locking setups in games anymore.
Oh they'd be dumb not to make Mischief 2024. I loved this one Vaniki screenshot I got where there were like 3000 corpses outside Avatar of War
That'd be a cool event to see! Wish'd they do that
Started on varsoon 6 days ago LVL 26 dirge mainly soloing it’s been awesome to see folks out questing and interacting I’ve met some cool people on there I wish there was more low lvl pop for sure but the expac did just get unlocked so it makes sense that every bodies pushing there mains still been a blast none the less hope your having a good time with RoK so far 😄
Your vids have made me miss this game. I may have to get back into it.
Great video. I like your editing style and you a good voice.
Been watching your videos the last week or so while I wait for the new tlp to launch. Really enjoying them, and kind of sad you decided to quit.
That's awesome.
I freakin miss playing EQ I been so dang busy I can’t wait to sit down and play a TLP again 🎉🤠
Ion, you could also talk about some of the ridiculous other EQMU severs, like Imperium, where you get to solo raid bosses with 1-2 characters, all the way up to PoP. Also look into Project Quarm
Thank you for the suggestion. Yeah been hearing a lot about project quarm. Coming out soon yeah?
I love your videos, would you please do a poay through series for p99? Ty have been enjoyjng the content.
I had an epiphany . 8:00 response .
Have an encounter bubble you can fight through , to then join , and be awarded based on math.
Albeit , I would include a warding feature for the group of such interlopers.
Which will cost them to invoke ... or just a little bit harder for said interloper ;) ?
Ion Blaze will you be playing Project Quarm oct 1st?
I was going to ask the same thing. Love your content Ion Blaze, hope to see you on there as well.
i loved the old market place in the tunnels in west downs
West downs? Do you mean the commonlands tunnel?
@IonBlaze1 yes commonlands not west downs lol
played day 1 of EQ. Itll never have the grandeur that it did back then.
Hell yeh UF was probably my favorite expansion in all of EQ that shit was fun
I'm loving encounter locking so far on Oakwynd
My lv 88 Pally on FV is basically dead in the water where exp is concerned so I use the Quest tab's "Overseer" quest feature. not fun but at least I get some exp out of it.
Oh yeah the 80's & 90s are really hard parts imo. Gearing is difficult
We kept doing it till we had to leave to raid.
hey great video :D
i have 1 question i want to start playing eq1 or 2 but im not sure whats more for me maybe You could help me
I really like games like classic wow (just dont like that in classic wow ppl are just rushing to end gmae and u end up not having group for dungeons etc)
i was also a fan of knight online back like 14 years ago?
Should have probably mentioned Aradune as that had a rush of people playing because of Covid.
Aradune & Rizlona. Yeah, yeah you're right! Huge population boost cause no one could go outside.
Problem is with Oakwynd is the bonus experience is not working for AA lines a big disaster.
Played EQ2 on day one and every 4-5 years I try it and it has always sucked.
Oh didn't know about that situation. Won't run on mac?
@@IonBlaze1 I mean there is no native mac client and the guidance on the forums is playing from a VM is bannable. Like your 4 levels of cheating maybe some people do but is it worth the risk since there is no clear answer?
I bet you do have the means to test out the modern content on EQ2; check your oldest daybreak accounts /claim on a live server - you may have a 120 boost sitting in there; if not, there are legit pl ways to get you to the upper end 80ish in a matter of hours
It breaks my brain to think about EQ2 being 5 years after EQ1.
I'm playing on Xegony. 115 Mage. I'm determined to hit 120.
Ehh yeah that was half the complaints. Many people wanted mischief & not oakwynd's ruleset.
TAKP - PoP locked emulation server, 3 boxing allowed. Best version of EQ out there.
Lazarus EMU server is my favorite model
25th Anniversary TLP Server is coming!
I’m curious, which of these servers do you mostly play?
I main EQ2 Varsoon right now.
Everquest is a very beautiful State to live in
Got a strong economy lol. Was like 46th in the world at its peak.
I think we can set more etiquette as a community. Rather than shunning multiboxing, we create expectations like 3 real life people double box.. to say that it's a good luck if you drop some multibox characters to include people into a group. I've been seeing it more and more naturally.
Oh yeah definitely. We had the play nice policy. Used to be enforced on live but not anymore. Still is on p99
Hi im new to everquest series and i wonder which server is the best one for a noob like me
Hoping EQ1 redoes original POP next.
I saw a red PVP server on your list of Project EQ99, is it working and successful?
With the low population new low man strats are being developed all the time (Check p99 wiki Lord Yelinak Bowquest strat for a recent example)
Valued Items between Red and Blue/Green are vastly different.
Yeah you can play on it. Its just super low population. Same thing, they made a PvP EQ2 server recently, Zarrakon. Low population
If i could i would buy eq and i would make it the best mmo ever again!!
Ion Blaze, are you going to make more EQ content?
Project Quarm video soon? 😮😊
I like that.
MMO museums.
Nice.
Yeah! cool place to visit
WOuld love to see age profile for eq1.Wonder what average is.
I miss the old days of EQII. It’s depressing to see its current state.
Everquest always was a good game. I just wish someone would revamp the graphics to make it more appealing for a newer generation.
Thoughts on Project Quarm?
Will you come back?
