Thanks for your support as always…I will re-word the question…would you have changed the heat exchanger if the customer asked you to? Or just said no it’s had it’s day and walked away? Let me know…thanks to everyone who answered last weeks question much appreciated 👊👍
Your confident and competent so repair all day long , you wouldn't replace your car everytime a part broke you would change the part, so well done good job 🎉
Dont be scared of that return pipe! It makes for much easier removal of the heat exchanger with it out the way. May save you getting that "worcetser rash" on your left hand! Also,,check the gas air mixture chamber for damage to the bearing plate..its a common fault .(you may have checked but didnt show us) Bravo to the one handed job !! 💪🏼
Condense trap always leaks over the board for me 😂, it’s not going anywhere but it looked like you forgot to push the black locking lever in place that secures the return pipe under the main heat exchanger, pushing it all the way right secures it👌
Personally I put it back dry before fitting the fan assembly then tip water in to heat exchanger to fill the trap. Save s the pcb from an unwanted shower!👌🏼
Great job mate! Another boiler saved from this throw away society we now live in!! I love the “real life” way you do things. I’ve got the same heat cell to fit tomorrow and I bet you that the con trap shits itself all over the board too!🙈😂😂😂🍻
Hi there I just wanted to let you know that when I take the condensate trap in or out I always take it out from below as every time I take it out across the orb it always leaks onto the board, loving the videos
I love a breakdown and repair. Hate servicing. I'd rather fix than replace. Of course it's up to the custard. But nothing better than tackling a fault. GreenStars are a piece of piss to work on once you've done a few. Great boiler. PRV on the old one's a pain. But the real arse of a Worcester were the old CDi's. Diverter valve. That fat red expansion behind pipework. Leaking iso's. Passing P2P. The High-Flow, Heatslaves gave me nightmares. Too many "engineers" would rather grass a boiler than spend time fixing. They replace with a 4000 and have no idea how to set one up!
Bit like triggers broom, if it's your boiler the labour costs nowt but even then the heat exchanger you're looking north of £200. If it was me, I would have swaped it out for maine 25he combi, fantastic boiler and no agro for least 10 years and everything is a easy swap out, baxi parts are reasonable as loads fit different boilers.
@@bluebulldog_uk ah man that's unlucky! To be fair to Worcester that's probably the only good thing about their boilers for me 😂 that and it has the easiest diverter valve to replace!
I suppose it depends on the overall condition of the boiler. If it looks likely other parts will fail in the near future it'd make more sense to replace the boiler. Whats the purpose of the black cap underneath the heat exchanger if you dont mind me asking.
Yeah if the customer would rather go for the repair i would do. Imhad a similar junior. I had a new exchanger. I then had to replace the sump, the right and left hydro blocks and then a year later fitted a new logic max so even after they were £500 in they still replaced afternall🤷🏼♂️
As an S&R engineer that’s a common replacement for us. Wish we could say not economical to repair at times but don’t have the luxury. Think I’ve fitted more kebabs than I’ve had hot dinners. Think I’ve seen you worked S&R before? What area? You look familiar
Thats an old boiler. I'd of replaced it. Its a bit like vans. When things start to go wrong due to age you will be forever throwing parts at it. Then your reluctant to buy a new one as you've spent so much on the old one.
Not that many parts on this boiler though - and it’s efficient. Good for another ten years that. Only thing I would have done cos it’s me is clean up all the condensate marks on the plate at the top,of the boiler and maybe the bottom case too
If they had to pay for that hex rather than getting it for free with warranty, then i would of put a 4000 in there, takes an hour to do literally with new jig and then get it flushed out😂😂😂😂

I work on a lot of Worcester juniors and I don’t mind them , I do more repairs than installation. You’re the man !!!
Your confident and competent so repair all day long , you wouldn't replace your car everytime a part broke you would change the part, so well done good job 🎉
🔵🔵🔵Great video gave honest opinion to customer who chose a repair great job so a new lease of life for this boiler 🔵🔵🔵

👊👍👍
As long as the customer knows the extent of the replacement then yeah why not. Top job Luke❤
Thanks mate 👍
You made short work of that job with one hand. 👏 Thanks for your videos
Cheers mate 🙌👍
Pretty impressive, and well done giving that boiler a new lease of life. Would be interesting to see the clean and how much crap is in the system!
Thanks mate, will film and show what I get out 👍
brilliant job mate, from a British gas man from the 90's
Thanks mate 👍
Condense trap always leaks over the board for me 😂, it’s not going anywhere but it looked like you forgot to push the black locking lever in place that secures the return pipe under the main heat exchanger, pushing it all the way right secures it👌
Looking back yeah I don’t think it’s fully over but it only has to be slightly over and will lock in, be alright like you said 👍
Personally I put it back dry before fitting the fan assembly then tip water in to heat exchanger to fill the trap. Save s the pcb from an unwanted shower!👌🏼
I would've cleaned everything on reassembly as well.
Great job mate!

😂 how did it go mate? Did you soak the board like me…hope not!
You just know Chirag is scowling all the way through this video 😂.
Woooooosta.
Keep up the good work Luke.
#yamyam
😂😂 thanks mate 🙌👍
All done to cost etc vs new boiler I’d say everyone’s different on prices but parts are getting more and more expensive
Good video Luke, have you thought of maybe getting a body harness/clip for your camera so that you can use both hands, would make life so much easier?
I have mate I’m upgrading my phone and looking at getting a mic soon 👍
Everyones circumstances are different,I would have gone the replacement route for the warranty
Hi there I just wanted to let you know that when I take the condensate trap in or out I always take it out from below as every time I take it out across the orb it always leaks onto the board, loving the videos
I normally stick my finger over the hole, bottom would of been better 👍

Yeah mate I love a breakdown/realise I’m all for saving boilers 👍 your right once you’ve done a few they get easy to work on
Bring on the cleaning video 👍👍👍
🙌👍

I would have swapped but customer wanted the repair..wasn’t a cheap repair in the end
Absolutely I'm with you mate I love a good repair if the customer wants it! Was that hex within the 10yr warranty?
Love a repair 🙌👍 I phoned and emailed Worcester but it was 2 years out unfortunately on this one
@@bluebulldog_uk ah man that's unlucky! To be fair to Worcester that's probably the only good thing about their boilers for me 😂 that and it has the easiest diverter valve to replace!
@cputilitysolutions yeah there warranty on hex is top notch to be fair. Auto air vents am rubbish to replace thou 😅😂
I suppose it depends on the overall condition of the boiler. If it looks likely other parts will fail in the near future it'd make more sense to replace the boiler.
Whats the purpose of the black cap underneath the heat exchanger if you dont mind me asking.
Gotta be just to hold it in place mate can’t see any other reason for it other than that
It's just a securing "clamp" in the form of a large plastic nut that screws on to the heat exchanger where it protrudes thru the casing base.
Exact way I do it to change them 😂
The hardest part is taking the fan and banana off
Yeah can be a pain to get out sometimes 👍

Luck of draw sometimes, if this one has anything else to wrong il be sure to let people know 👍

Yes mate BG S&R for 8 years Walsall (midlands) 👍
Hope you did a fan pressure test Luke, might have had cowboys adjusting the gas valve over the years instead of cleaning the heat ex?
The hex was split mate that's why it was replaced
Yeah mate min/max all done was spot on 👍
What does the black lever do that’s next to the retaining nut that holds the heat exchanger in place ?
Holds pipe in place 👍
Nice job, aav looked a bit ropey though!
I know mate, been splurting dirty water out by looks of it 😅
Here's a question, can you upload some subtitles?? Quite hard to hear sometimes what you're saying
Doesn’t UA-cam automatically add them?
@@bluebulldog_uk yeah it can't make heads or tails from the audio
Better change the boiler

You’ve just described my van to be honest 😂😂👍
Replace it 🤓

Out of warranty the hex was so had to be paid for, would of been a good swap that
Wy on earth don't you invest in a tripod for your phone , make life a lot me easier for you .
Can’t get it into tight spaces, falls over and doesn’t pick audio up sometimes…I need to find something that works would be easier
🤘😎🤘🎥👍🫖☕️🍪
