@TheWoodIsPoo I totally agree, staff in my local Iceland are really lovely, especially when you compare it to say Farm Foods, staff there are dead inside 😂
Great memories of working for Iceland way back around 1971. I was the first "trainee manager" taken on by Malcolm and Peter when they opened the Ernest Street Freezer Centre in Rhyl. Malcolm asked me for ideas in order to gain some free newspaper coverage, and I suggested we make "The worlds largest Ice Lolly!!!"... they went ahead and managed to produce one...... needless to say they got their free publicity.. I appear in the video at 7:13...nice to look back...great people

This seems as good a place as any to thank Iceland for being absolute heroes of the Covid Pandemic. The way they so quickly figured out the needs of people at home and made slots available for everyone was incredible. Where the big giants failed Iceland delivered. Literally. I'll never forget that and neither will my elderly mum. Iceland is a superb company and perfectly unique, because they do what they want and for the right reasons.

Great documentary. Keep doing what you are doing. Love the "Branded" products like Greggs and Harry Ramsdens. It sort of gives you a seal of approval from a trusted name. That and the Iceland branded products are great too. Glad to see they care about the staff, hard working and trusted colleagues are hard to find, so keep them! Good luck Iceland and well done on reaching 50 years!!
Wow! I used to work at Bejam…Remember them! They got taken over by Iceland in the 80s I believe, after I had done my 10 year stint with them. Working in sales taught me a lot about people and not just on the shop floor. Took my shares and froze them…

Best documentary I’ve ever seen . Wow I always knocked Iceland but I have found a massive respect and admiration for them . Good people running the company who care and make a profit and make it affordable at the same time outstanding. 👏 👏 I salute you. Don’t know why I started watching but what an amazing story & great insight I had no idea it was that old. I have a new respect for the store the owners & the people employed. And yes I shop there to
Growing up in Peterborough, I remembered the Iceland store in the outskirt of a place called Bretton, and it use to be empty and not exciting, this was the early 90s. Now I use my local one in Manchester as whilst all the big chains home delivery can take weeks, Iceland, I can literally get next day delivery. Good on you Iceland.
Iceland used to be in my Home Town of Arbroath, Scotland. It's now a Co-OP but they did say that are interested in opening an arbroath Branch in the future, but not in the town centre, I do have memories of when I was living in Dundee, my Gran used to take me and my brother to the Wellgate Shopping Centre, we would go to The Library and Iceland, does anyone else remember the one in Arbroath?
As recently joining Iceland thanks to covid forcing my redundancy I love it. My store everyone is brilliant everyone has a laugh. Yes it can be hard graft but I wish I'd jumped ship sooner I was previously a skilled engineer so it was a total change and I wouldn't go back now on the home delivery team. #teamiceland

Greetings from Czechia! Perfect document about great grocery store Iceland! Thank you Iceland for your subsidiary Iceland Czechia, especially Iceland Prague. I Iceland I can buy big packs, all big! Iceland also is the sustainable store.
sorry documentary
Really impressed by the store, its ethic, but also the quality of its food. Nice one, Iceland!
great documentary fairplay for coming back and running the business.
Mom always shoped at Iceland, and when I left home to start my own family so did I and still do, great staff at our local store (Chesterfield), they got a huge amount of respect from me when covid first hit they stayed open extra late one night a week just for NHS staff, here's to the next 50 years
Wow. What and an amazing video. That was great. Just going to check out there online service. Sounds great.
Thank you very much indeed to #Iceland in Leicester for helping me with #MS and doing brilliant home deliveries .
Wow! I used to work at Bejam…Remember them!
They got taken over by Iceland in the 80s I believe, after I had done my 10 year stint with them.
Working in sales taught me a lot about people and not just on the shop floor.
Took my shares and froze them…
Iceland always do it right.... Top quality top service they are so underestimated but trust me they know how to treat customers..... And give value for your money
Truly inspiring
Best documentary I’ve ever seen . Wow I always knocked Iceland but I have found a massive respect and admiration for them . Good people running the company who care and make a profit and make it affordable at the same time outstanding. 👏 👏 I salute you. I will deliberately now buy some products every now and again and go into your stores and not have this stupid snobbery I may have shown .
I work for Iceland ! Proud of it ❤️
Some of the deals are brilliant, since lockdown in place of weekend takeout we bought Iceland meals and they’re great, my late mum always liked Iceland. I remember when Bejam disappeared and became an Iceland store.
What an amazing Company Iceland must be to work for, Just one big happy family. Looks like there is respect all around. Respect for the workers from the top, means a happy respectful workforce. Well done Guys
Iceland was a life saver at university, and their frozen cakes was delicious!
Great video, I it enjoyed immensely
A lesson in business and retail. Really enjoyed this
Great video, great history.
What a humble team!!! Hopefully Iceland comes to Canada soon
Don’t know why I started watching but what an amazing story & great insight I had no idea it was that old. I have a new respect for the store the owners & the people employed. And yes I shop there to
I remember when you could buy a fridge or freezer from the store .my shopping each week is from Iceland
I nursed Malcolm's mother in 1980s in Liverpool , she told me how he started, little acorns grow into giant oaks 💖
Good on you Iceland.
oh god, how long has it been since you've been in peterborough hahaha, very different place than it used to be. the iceland is still there
They do have a good savings scheme when you put 20 pounds in your Iceland account they give you one pound extra that's much better than a bank
It's 5% and they are doing the double money throughout August so it's 10% 🥳🥳🥳
Iceland used to be in my Home Town of Arbroath, Scotland. It's now a Co-OP but they did say that are interested in opening an arbroath Branch in the future, but not in the town centre, I do have memories of when I was living in Dundee, my Gran used to take me and my brother to the Wellgate Shopping Centre, we would go to The Library and Iceland, does anyone else remember the one in Arbroath?
The delivery drivers are excellent. They can carry 8 bags at once, never complain and are always in time.
Lifeline for me at the start of the pandemic... stuck at home having to isolate, great service! 👍
I have no idea why i watched this but it was extremely entertaining
As recently joining Iceland thanks to covid forcing my redundancy I love it. My store everyone is brilliant everyone has a laugh. Yes it can be hard graft but I wish I'd jumped ship sooner I was previously a skilled engineer so it was a total change and I wouldn't go back now on the home delivery team. #teamiceland
I joined Iceland during covid after also losing my job, and I absolutely agree that its a great place to work.
@@steveholmes3471 yes mate it really is
Good on you Zach for trying something different and a bonus that you enjoy it so much! 🥰
Just miss working there. It's a great place to work
Inspiring, I will never look at Iceland the same again.
He seems like a great guy!
@Just Mingled and again with your copied reply, rather than slagging off why don’t you explain why.
My employer is Iceland but don't work for them just under their wing😉 appreciate everything Malcolm and family have done to keep the pennies rolling in 💪
Just watched the Iceland documentary really good but for me it's the value for money! In the world that we live in ! Well-done the the walker family and extended one for what you have achieved ps continued succes for the future 👍
