LOVE AUCTION - I do - 1) if my max bid for a lower priced player is say $6, I start bid on an even number, so I get to 6 and not 7. 2) As bids are goin up, up, up, usually a dollar at a time, I am quiet until the end, then I will jump in with a $2 bid. This way the other people will have to go up $3 and as they hesitate, often the player falls to me. Great job guys! 71 year old - David
Our redraft league of 9 years changed it up this year. Waivers have been closed for the first two weeks and tonight we’re holding an auction for waiver guys.
Every single salary draft I’m in the players I draft with are super impatient to start. So I always start off nominating bad players and they always go for way more money then projected. Say I don’t like Gesicki, Knox, & Freiermuth. Then I’ll make those 3 my first nominees & this will do two things. One I’ll get my opponent’s to overpay for mediocre players, plus I’ll get myself a nice discount at tight end in the middle rounds. I’ll end up getting Hockenson or Ertz for cheaper than these 3 went. Bullet proof strategy for me. Let the other players nominate the good players up top the draft board. You know someone will do it so why should you do it for them Also I agree with don’t wait too long on spending but sometimes patience can pay off big time. If you get a 1st round player and the 2nd round guys are going for too much money sometimes you can get two 4th round players instead for the same price as the one second round player, which might be better for your team…especially if it’s a deeper league with thin waiver wire players. The depth can win you a league
This is my first year, and we're doing a dynasty startup, using auction, with a Superflex. 16 bench slots, 28 roster spots total. Very tricky. I *think* this is how I can compare other sites' auction prices to any league. I found out the size of other auction leagues on sites with prices, like Sleeper. I budgeted a roster from the site by assigning all bench spots, kickers, and DEF $1.33. From this, I could calculate how much is budgeted on (Sleeper) for starters. Then, I do the same for my roster. Finally, I determine the % difference betw my starters and (Sleeper's) starters. I don't think my league mates realize how much these huge benches will soak up. So, I'm nominating the most expensive players I don't want first. 100% speculation; I hope it works.
The problem with ALL of the values online is that they are what I call "inflated". My league has 12 teams x 15 players on a roster. 180 players and 110 to spend per team(12 x 110 = 1320). So the draft board has to have the top 180 players = 1320 cap dollars....But if you take the top 180(broken down by position properly too of course) from online it will end up equaling a lot more than 1320. So I hand write out a draft board using generic lists of players from online to eliminate my ow bias(looking at them in tiers is also good) and I assign those players to a price. I dont assign a price to a player I assign a player to a price. My entire draft board is is fully written out positions and amount of cap available to each position and specifically to each player(number 10 wr at x price)..The last information I add is the names of the players...This has worked very well for me and auction is the only real from of draft..The rest is lotto...
Wait at WR and RB they will be dirt cheap in the middle-late rounds. Everyone will spend a lot on QB’s, have two QB’s like Carr and Cousins that you’re comfortable taking and you’ll save money at QB while having extra money for the dirt cheap middle round WR’s & RB’s
I need some advice the draft I am in this year has an extra utility spot and allows a Qb to be placed there. Should I shoot for 2 QB or still use that extra spot for wr rb? Also I am assuming that QB value will shoot though the roof as there are only so many good ones and it’s going to be a 15 team player league. Should I be willing to pay more for the QB points ?
Auction drafts are the way to go! A good tip is to always nominate QB's early because people will overpay for them
We have a nomination strategy episode coming soon
Not nearly enough salary cap content out here considering how big fantasy has gotten. Thanks for the contribution guys! 🙏
We appreciate the feedback. It’s by far our favorite way to draft so we’ll keep making it if you keep watching it. Happy drafting!
This will be our hometown leagues first auction. Been drafting since 2008. Thanks for the pointers fellas!
Auction is the best by far!

love the max bid idea, that's a great strategy and not one many think of
Nothing better than a live auction draft
Auction Drafts, let’s go!
Great input guys!! Just what I needed for my first auction draft this week. 👍🏾

We doing a auction draft this year just wondering how do free agency work after draft or trades an cuts
Depends on your leagues settings. Some have regular waivers and others like us use a free agent auction budget for waivers

You mentioned about player draft values. Where can I get that info to have while drafting?

Or search whatever platform you’re using with ADP in it

One thing I’ve never done before is an auction dynasty startup

Great breakdown, George.
Any tips on redraft super flex auction drafts

check the mailbag episode coming out Wednesday morning! We will answer this question there!
Cool will do thanks 🙏
Never done an auction draft before doing one this year it's a dynasty league not sure how to evaluate value here
Also this league dropped kicker and defense for an extra flex slot
