I really respect you. You go out and film in a video while in Minnesota during winter time. Then you overtorque your lug nuts just so you can show us what these tools are capable of. And I love your split screen action so we can see each tool perform against the other in quick time.
Just bought the DCF 922 kit today, 2 x 5aH batteries, charger, stak case (922 is detent pin model) hog ring is the 921. Very impressive and powerful for its size and weight. I have the 899 as well, it's great but it is very heavy and bulky for getting into smaller spaces.... I might sell it on if the DCF 922 suits my needs around working at the cars.
Man, thank you so much so much for such an in depth review! It really helps to see you use different batteries and speeds. Getting the XR as a gift for my brother and wanted to see which was better and the XR seems to be king.
Hey i have a question , i bought one and within time it'll stop working and work aGain after a while until it stop working at all , and than my friend bought one and it did the same thing
I think it was slower than the DCF 850 because of the higher RPMs. I think it's doing over 3000 compared to the 921 doing 2500 rpms, so, given that the torque is well within what both were capatble of, the 850 driver was able to do the work faster, but the 921 is definitely hitting harder. Other videos show it having haigher torque ratings than the other Dewalt and Milwaukee stubby models, and breaking off nuts torqued to like 400 or 450. That lil' Atomic is the one to beat right now.
That's exactly what I'm thinking, as long as the task isn't too much for the 850 it'll drive with more speed than the bigger brothers. I've yet to see anything with a lower rpm best it in that regard.
I just use dcf899 3 speed on my focus. You pull the trigger, and it almost feels like air with 6ah. Its only 100ft lbs. I buy new lug nuts too. I hope I don't need studs😬
@@tinman1955 Home Depot has a buy-one-get-one “free” battery if you buy it as a bare tool. Get the bogo deal then return the battery. There’s a bundle that includes the battery. Don’t get the bundle, because you would have to return both and not separately
You're lucky, they are approx £180 in the UK. *Edit , bought the DCF922 kit today (it's the detent pin model) 2 x 5aH batteries, charger and Stak case. £340, not cheap but it's very good.
Some of the people in my shop blast their lugs with an electric high torque. Sometimes seating them at 400 or more ft lbs. I can tell who worked on a car last by whether or not my atomic can pull the lugs off...... may need the new mid range cuz I hate having to pull out my air gun for those.
Thanks for the comparison. Would be better to grab some grade 8 bolts and make a test rig than to use your lug nuts. Those are usually torqued around 90 foot pounds. Not surprised you shredded the threads after that abuse haha
There you have to take into account that the motor of the atomic impact wrench is smaller than that of the xr, and also there you have to take into account the rpm.
When testing on the lug nuts you only used the first dewalt for 2seconds and then the xr for 6 seconds maybe if you left the dcf921for longer it would of took it off just like the xr did

Ridiculous torturing the stubby like that. Its just not made for what your doing, its made for working in tight spaces on cars.It is the most powerful stubby in the world.Comparing to a high torque is ludicrous.

Dewalt’s impacts are pretty damn good. I use 1/2” atomic impact at work - does great
Hell ya it's worth the money, the small size the power and the multiple settings makes this an amazing versatile tool for anybody who uses tools
Cool. I have the 20V Max 1/2in drive Compact Impact (Brushed). It's a beast-will run 1/2" x 8" lags into conifers easily. It laughs at lug nuts.
We're did you find the DCF920 For 100 Bucks Its 199 Everywhere I have been?
It’s currently $110 after battery “hack” at Home Depot . Watch Joe the tool guy latest video for links & more info

I could be wrong but don't high and low settings on the dcf921 have the same power in reverse? Only reduced in forward correct?
Yes I believe your right, But I am not a 100%
Speed 1 is 300 lbs in reverse, and speed 2 is 450 lbs in reverse
Dewalt make my head spin with so many versions of impacts. I just bought the dcf921 for $110 bare tool, cant wait to test
You are correct they have a ton!!!! Thanks for watching man.

I have a mid range and run into same issue. If lugs are torqued properly it works fine. But if previous tech was an asshole it won't take them off.
Do you think that you can switch the battery to make your other tool more strong??
No. This will only effect how long the battery pasts

Everybody commenting how the older model whooped the atomic...yall realize it's a high torque impact vs a stubby right?
Yes, it was just for fun and entertainment purposes only. Don't take anything I say on here to seriously. Thanks for watching
Ya that xr impact wrench is massive
The atomic still did pretty good for the size
The Atomic did okay considering it's torque specs are less than half the dcf899.
I’ve got the dcf894 love it have to look into that flex volt for smaller projects 👍
There you have to take into account that the motor of the atomic impact wrench is smaller than that of the xr, and also there you have to take into account the rpm.
Yeah totally this was just for fun, you guys ask me to do all kinds of different head to heads lol
thanks for watching
I have both and never reach for the big one.
You compare 610 Nm vs 950Nm, this is similar to compare Ferrari and Lada. Every tool it has characteristics for specific tasks.
The loosening power is independent of mode setting I thought
it's full torque in all modes
modes only affect max tightening torque
Correct

Surprised me that it was able to do it at all with how small it is.
Right, its not bad for a compact wrench.

Yeah I am not perfect, I was a little worried that it would just rip off my lug nut too. and it was freezing out.
Thanks for watching man.
Wow the dcf850 impact driver whooping the new DCF920 impact wrench with a lag in speed and even the old DCF899 Faster with Lags then the New DCF920
