This Superboy show is a real treasure and more shows need more intense yet well-intentioned superdickery. What I find interesting is that animation seem to be somewhat cyclical and these short, simple episodes have been done with Justice League Action shorts.
Superboy/Superman from the 60s Filmation animated shows were all voiced by Robert Hastings who is best known by comic book fans for voicing Commissioner Jim Gordon in Batman: The Animated Series which explains why his voice acting is leagues above everyone else besides Krypto who totally owned the role.
This show also highlights how frugal Filmation was with their shows. Count those animation shortcuts.
I hope you enjoy the simple adventures of a boy and his dog and how they beat the stuffing out of aliens and crooks. Truly a wholesome adventure anyone can get behind... Smallville was a very odd place. - Комедії
I love how the narration specifically mentions that Superboy was spinning _counterclockwise_ to travel back in time. Like, spinning clockwise to go back in time would just be silly.
Everyone knows that
Presumably spinning clockwise at the speed of light is how you go to the future. Lets not even get into what happens when spinning on a y axis. Oof.
But what if you’re wearing a digital watch, then which way do you spin?
Superman was broken in the silver age.
@@MinscFromBaldursGate92 What do you mean by that? I enjoyed the Superman and Superboy comics of the 1960's and 1970's. Maybe some of the plots in the imaginary stories were silly, but I enjoyed them anyway.
5:32 The aerial t-pose I.. I can't. THE POWER!
The Baron's Mad Mustache WEEEEE
"As his master makes pathetically futile attempts to breaks his bonds." Damn, dude. That's the hero you're talking about.
Rest In Peace, Bob Hastings, the voice of Superboy.
Thanks! I wondered whom did his voice. May he and Bud Collier ( I hope I spelled his name right) both RIP! Sadly, I remember reading his obituary in the paper when Bud passed away. It was a stroke of genius having him do the voice of Superman since he did his voice on the Radio Program in the 1940's as well as the 1940's Paramount Cartoons, and having Joan Leslie do the voice of Lois Lane, since she also did the voice in the 1940's Cartoons, as well as I believe on radio!
3:39 Unfortunately, Clark's first choice of cover job, professional dancer, just didn't pan out.
14:57 "Stupid dog, you made me look bad!"
*_OOGA BOOGA BOOGA_*
Nice AV/Comment combo
"his eyes they never move"
Oddly enough Supes that wasn't my first thought. Maybe it's because he has no color in his eyes and they are embedded into his skin.
5:00 Hold on a minute! If The Red Sun takes away Superboy’s powers, wouldn’t it also take away Krypto’s superpowers too? Ah, why am I expecting Silver Age DC comics characters to follow any form of logic?
Mr Shambleface counterpoint: fur.
Yes.
8:35 Thanks for the exposition, citizen
This is a far cry from the amazing 1940s Superman series by Fleischer Studios, TV animation in the 60s didn’t get the budget earlier theatrical shorts got.
Please, give some consideration for the constraints that the production team had to work within. With the tight budgets and schedules of television production those people had to endure they pulled off minor miracles getting these episodes and all the other programs out that Filmation was doing at that time. Consider: The Superman eps that these Superboy shorts complemented, plus the other programs -- Aquaman, Batman & Robin, Journey To The Center Of The Earth, Fantastic Voyage, The Hardy Boys, and The Archies. Even today I think the artwork and overall production values of these old toons is, at least for television, top notch. Of course there is no way that an animated TV program could compare to the level of work that was lavished on those dear old Fleischer presentations.
You may be surprised, if you look at the credits for both the Fleischer works and these Filmation episodes, that many of the same people worked on both projects, particularly the animators. Something to think about.
10:42 Officer calling it as he sees it.
12:07 Ah, I see, because it's "counterclockwise!" 9_9
Gotta love old-school comic-book pseudophysics. Because Mach One was so difficult to attain, it was dubbed "the sound barrier," so writers just plugged "time" in there and said if their spandex-wearing weirdo ran/flew/spun fast enough they could go through time the same way jets could...go through sound? Um. It was never explained how this technique was discovered, or how one actually emerged from Beyond the Time Barrier; one just DID. Sometimes this time-realm even came with Western-calendar years displayed in large numbers for helpful reference.
Some superheroes used different but equally implausible techniques; Batman and Robin visited the past frequently via hypnosis. Shazam! (Captain Marvel) could fly to the Rock of Eternity, from which he could access any point in time, which at least left the matter to pure magical fantasy.
I find it both hilarious and adorable and it never gets old.
of course batman can time travel...
25:35 Man, I love JJBA.
Ultima Heartless ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA ORA
Nah krypto is still alive
4:10 I mean jeez he's trying his hardest you don't have to be so mean
I love the silver age.
What an unintentionally humorous time to be alive.
2:37 lol
10:30 Smallville zoo? Are you kidding me? A small farm town in Kansas has a freaking zoo?
13:57 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
17:16 Hey guys, I'm the devil, but I need to break in to places and call the cops. I can summon the legions of hell on you, but I need to make a phone call to the local authorities.

Super Doot Bros.
"Hmm, ramming into Supeboy skull first seems to be ineffective. We'll have to completely rethink our invasion of Earth"
3:50 did he danced the storm away?
Did he just nuked them? 27:35
Yes I just loved Superboy when I was just a child
8:26 is that the crystal onix?
@Geoffrey Darcy no it's Onix. It's a play on the word Onyx, which refers to a mineral. I used to remember it as Onyx, and who knows maybe this is some sort of Mandela effect moment, but it would appear it is and always was Onix.

I love your channel, Ted! This is really good work.
Thank you
Tedfufu you my nigga for real. Love your content.
Thank you.
I enjoyed these Saturday morning Superboy cartoons, and they bring back good memories! Maybe the plots were a little bit silly and contradicted Superman's continuity, but Iiked them just the same. I guess fans were less cynical back then. I remember this cartoon came out during the Superhero craze started when the Batman TV show came on tv. Also it could be said that the Superboy Comic went against Superman's past history, since he originally became Superman as an adult. But it didn't matter to me at all!
YEAHHH CLARK! DON'T SAVE ANYONE! YOU'RE BASICALLY GOD! I'M ZACK SNYDER AND I ACTUALLY THING SUPERMAN SHOULDN'T BE A SUPERHERO!
I like how superbly knocked on ye clunkey knights head and he did the funky shake.
How come Merlin is depicted as such a jerk in these cartoons?
17:35 Superboy/Devil: Ah, it's so good to be home again.
CLASSIC Ted Knight narration
"It all started in a 5000 watt radio station in Fresno, California."
Love it. Great memories of growing up in 1966
Filmation is awesome!
Awesome. Been waiting for your next vid. I’ll def catch it when i get off work
Thanks for posting these cartoons. They bring back many good memories! These came out about the same time as the Marvel Superhero Cartoons. In both cases, the animation could have been better, but I enjoyed them both! Also, the Superman and Superboy Cartoon animation wasn't as good as the Superman Cartoons of the 1940's, but I enjoyed them & still do!
You forget the 1961 unsold pilot. It's on UA-cam.
He is back
quincy
13:56 Meanwhile, in Vietnam...
Henry Cavil’s next performance should just be this.
16:13-17:38 I kinda like Devil Clark. I might actually check out the episode
8:24 hey look It's Onyx from Pokémon 😅
Krypto was the real star
This is the only 1960s FILMATION DC hero cartoon they haven't released on DVD. Why??
When Krypton exploded, Superman was supposed to be the only survivor of Krypton. Where did Krypto come from? When Clark grew up to be Superman, where did Krypto go?
Ooooh, peanuts are ELEPHANT food. Gotcha.
Have a like good man
To bad there no Lex Luthor,Bizarro or other villain from the comics.
Still pretty entertaining.
That was the other Superman cartoon which ran concurrently.
The Superboy live-action show had them!
"Either that or they're just plain dumb" LMAO. Dialogue from the 1960's is just plain hilarious. I don't know why they wrote like this cause average people then didn't really talk like they did in shows and movies. Unrealistic.
I just noticed you have a slight lisp
I just loved Super Boy when I was a child
@ except this is exact message original Kents give to baby Clark in Superman #1 (1939).
To hide his powers and not scare folks, and only when he will grow up (i.e. be ready) to assist humanity with those powers.

You telling me that people who created Superman didn't understand him?!
Also Clark in MoS IS NOT motivated by guilt. He didn't saved school bus, people on oil rig, prevented sexual harassment (in an ol'e Action Comics #1 way by smashing guys car afterwards), gave himself to Zod to protect humans, flew into Black Zero despite it being a potential death. All this because guilt? No! Because it's right thing to do. Because Perry White in the end when he failed to retreave Jenny is holding her hand, instead of running away. Because it's right thing.
I like how superbly knocked on ye clunkey knights head and he did the funky shake.
