I think it would be nice- for you sitters to look at age milestones and activities for children. Just watching kids isn't what high payers are looking for! I've hired 3 ppl and all want to just make sure my baby boy doesn't kill himself. But, if they would engage more, I'd pay SO MUCH MORE! Just saying, getting hired is just the first step.
Yeah, I’ve babysat a few kids, infants and made sure I included counting, colors, letters etc while we play. But honestly when I needed someone to babysit my own kids I was just satisfied knowing they were safe and not being abused. All the “educational” stuff are secondary and maybe extra cost if one is required to tutor or teach
@Li H There is a huge difference between "teaching" and engaging! If the nanny/babysitter (etc.) wants more stability and money , being valuable as " kid-friendly" is a must!
Depends on how much you're paying and what other things you're demanding. In my area, people expect a care provider to be college educated. But they also want to tack on responsibilities other than child care. Laundry, washing dishes (from night before or from the weekend or because a parent decides to clean out the refrigerator/ freezer, vacuuming, picking up toys that have been strewn across the entire house the night before, looking for and retrieving soured baby bottles from under the beds, couches or wherever they're hidden. I've gone into people's homes where I have to find 1 of the 2 bottles they own, clean the soured milk from it, and sterilize it before I can feed a screaming baby. Also, I've worked in homes where the parents ignore the baby/toddler all night long and I have to change an extremely wet or fouled diaper before I can get the kid breakfast. I've had to maneuver around toys dumped on the floor throughout the house, and FIND enough food to feed the kid! People like me are expected to like dogs that trip us or knock us down while the parents think it's cute! We've also had to clean up after pets that have fouled the floors. Then we're not paid overtime and can at times be forced to work 15 hours or more because nobody is there to relieve us. When families go on vacation, we're expected to go w/out pay until the family returns. We are looked down on if we need to go to the doctor or God forbid run an errand to the bank to retrieve some cash money. We're also expected to run your little brats all over town using our vehicles and our own gas money, but never see an extra dollar put in our pockets to help out with gas expenses. We're also LIED to about the job details and about your kids temperaments and health issues. I'm tired of being taken advantage of because parents can't find or keep help because they lie about their situation. Then we have to put up w/ grandparents that want to fight us and leave their messes around expecting us to clean up after them! I've even had two clients call me after hours for absolute NOTHING asking me questions that they themselves can find the answers to OR could have waited until the next day or MONDAY, but no, my personal time has to be invaded because parents don't give a rip! Child care providers, at least me, have been totally disrespected and abused! But we do many things for children, including tutoring, but like licensed teachers are shown disrespect and ignored and hated. Parents have proved to be SNOTS & hateful!
@Miss Texas Oh girl! You need to find another job asap! No "service" job, instead something you are in charge of... bcs you are NOT a server (service provider)!! Calling kids "brats" and your overall description shows how much you have picked the WRONG position. Move on and change your negative perceptions of tired parents. For you and the babies sake.
How can I apply without having credit history ?:( they won’t accept my screening. Or is it because I don’t have my drivers license, just my perm ? I’m 19 but I’ve been out of the U.S do I wasn’t able to get it yet.
Hi! I am looking for jobs during college. I am a science major and want to make sure it is a job where I am able to do some homework or be flexible with. Do you think babysitting would allow me to do that? Also what do you think a starting income could be for someone with no expierence babysitting?
Hey! Definitely I think it is flexible, especially if you stick with date night sitting on weekends. I actually go into a little more detail answering this Q in my new video too if you want to check it out :) ua-cam.com/video/2Aa5M8ipclM/v-deo.html
I've been at it for a month and still can't get a good quality nanny job! ahhhhh!!! I have so much experience too this is driving me up the wall and the parents don't follow interviewing laws either, like asking about my personal health history (I'm chronically ill and this keeps coming up and it's a complete law breaking question to ask in the US)
I would really love to do baby sitting but I feel like I can’t do it with kids with disabilities because they need more help then other kids so I do find it a little hard
You don't need to do anything you are not comfortable with! On care they actually have you specify on your profile if you are comfortable taking care of kids with disabilities. I go into a little more detail answering this Q in my new video too if you want to check it out ua-cam.com/video/2Aa5M8ipclM/v-deo.html
I got hired for a nanny job in February 2022, while the mom was on maternity leave. She went back to work in April. I ended up meeting a guy across the country and getting engaged so I did end up moving in August. I actually had no idea otherwise I would have just stayed at my last job because that family moved a month before I did.
so I paid for the $10 membership because I didn't think you could join without it. Anyway, they ask for your social security number. Did you do this and feel comfortable giving it?
I think I would feel comfortable giving it if they tell you why they’re asking for it- I remember having to give mine when they ran background checks, so mabye since you paid for a membership then a background check comes with it?? That would be my guess but definitely look into why they want it before giving it to them! Having a background check on your profile looks really good so that’s totally worth it I think if its for that!
btw how do u go abt getting a babysitting license?? i keep only finding stuff for a child care service but not a personal babysitting license 😩 is it the same thing?
Good question! sorry I didn't see this sooner, but I think child care service sounds really similar to babysitting, so that good work too. I actually go into a little more detail answering this Q in my new video too if you want to check it out :) ua-cam.com/video/2Aa5M8ipclM/v-deo.html
I rlly want to babysit job cuz i need money to buy random shits And here in my country its not actually popular babysitting but me and my sister have baby sitter lol
I get paid on venmo usually, some families prefer cash or check. If its a full time job for an extended period of time usually you and the family are responsible for figuring out the taxes together & there are some helpful websites to tell you the steps for how to start that!
New regulations have come up since 2022- check out my new video for some more details on it! Check the description for the time in video to go to as well ua-cam.com/video/2Aa5M8ipclM/v-deo.html
how long did it take for families to respond?? i have applied like a mad woman trying and i feel like i’ve applied to all of the ones in my area that will work with my schedule. I sent them basically my bio because it was what popped up for the messages. should i send them another message that is more personal?? i need a job so badly and would prefer it to be a nannying job....
Olivia Masterson yeah definitely follow up with some stuff more personal to their job description! Personalizing messages will usually make you stand out a bit & also just keep checking to see if there are new posts. I’m sure one will work out eventually, new ones are always going up :-) Also, saying something about how you’ve been being safe during covid right now/ if you are getting tested ever would help reassure families that youre safe/responsible to let into their home rn (depending on where you are/ if they care)
I did at 12! but I knew the kids already. Those were my first jobs and the parents (my neighbors) would just leave me with their toddler to run super quick errands or get something done. So you should definitely ask around where you live/can walk to! and I would not ask for more than 10/hr as a 12/yo but also take whatever they'll pay you! I think it's good experience to start that young if you like kids
from experience no. don’t expect strangers to trust you with their kids at such a young age but maybe if you have siblings, cousins or family friends who are toddlers or babies. don’t make any professional profiles or anything tho wait until 15-16 for that
Is there away to baby sit without babysitting experience? I never babysit before, I'm 22 and I need experience of taking care of children if I ever want children of my own Idc about the money tbh
Hey! There definitely is. I would just apply for lower paying jobs and go from there. I actually go into a little more detail answering this Q in my new video too if you want to check it out :) ua-cam.com/video/2Aa5M8ipclM/v-deo.html
Hey, am in search of any kind of job,, either as Nanny, health care taker at homes or elderly people homes, gardener or any job,, I'll be happy if any of you is interested... I'm in Uganda and have a passport, willing to travel and work anywhere in the world... I prefer a full time job/Contract.
But for care.com you have to be 18 and older I’m just 15 years old 😞 I just want to have my own money and babysitting is the only thing I have experience on
There is a site I found where you can be under 18, but you still will need an email form of parent's permission. I talk about it right in the beginning of my new video ua-cam.com/video/2Aa5M8ipclM/v-deo.html

lol! this is literally my plan as well.
I gotta pay 15 dollars for a background check 💀
5$ now
I paid 25
It's 19$ now

um no parent wants or needs a chronically ill nanny. look into work from home

It's pretty well known nationwide by now tbh, just bigger in certain areas. I'd say it's worth a shot no matter where you are if in the USA
Great information
Apparently agencies consider only a full time job as a “nanny” and the rest they call babysitting 😢😂
