    The low volts on this is just plain stupid. My gosh my little pecron can take 95 volts. Looks like they are forcing people to buy their panels. Not good I already have panels and I am not buying what I already have.

      @bl9531 Місяць тому

      So you are referring to the low voltage of the solar panels … because in AC, it appears to accept 240v

    • @johnmal5975
      @johnmal5975 Місяць тому

      @@bl9531 Yes for a system this size its pathetic to say the least. It's a wall charger not a solar power station. Anker makes really good stuff except they cheap out with solar inputs. For example, I have 2000w pecron power station. It has 2 solar inputs that can take in 95 volts each. That station is half the size of this. Get a oupes, bluetti, ecoflow, pecron etc.. if you actually want to charge with solar.

      @@johnmal5975 interesting, thx for your input. To be honest, I was focussing on the 240v AC capacity and didn’t fully appreciate the weak solar capacity

    I bought the Anker Solix 3800 to use as a backup for my RV. I bought the bundle that comes with the Anker 400 watt portable solar panels. I am blown away by this setup! I now call it "The Beast" I have also wired up my rooftop solar of 350 watts to help charge the beast. Thanks for your video!

    I got 4 of the all power 600w portable panels and the work great because they are 54v and 10 amps each. So each input i can parallel two panels.

      Hey I'm interesteed in maxing out the solar input of my Anker F3800 too, but looks like the Allpowers SP039 600W panels are 44V 13.63A. Are there different specs of 600W panels from them?

    My 1st thought for panels is 2 renogy 550 panels in parallel in each input. Would give you about 1000w in each input. For 2000w total.

    Hi Ben, I've got a question on another topic and possible future review video. I am considering a Pecron or Titan for my home backup needs. A part of my criteria is preferring an America made product and while I see Percon is made in Hong Kong it is a consideration. What would really be nice is an American made Hybrid generator so that we could also capture the power of the wind to use when the cloudy days run together. Do you have any suggestions when it comes to Hybrid Generators for either a whole house set-up in FL using 880kw month or for using two separate 120v generators with the ability to run a window AC, refridge, etc. on each generator? Thanks DJ

    The high frequency inverter tech that's used in these cheap units are only rated at a 2X surge capacity which is not enough to power all of the appliances in an average home and because it doesn't even have an isolation transformer it has the potential to fry the AC appliances in your home during a catastrophic failure of its H-Bridge circuit. No thanks, not in my home.

    I got this solely for backup when the grid goes down. Also got the smart home panel. No need to switch over as it is automatic and switches so fast that computers stay on.
    It is an awesome setup, but I agree the solar input should be at least 150v, so we could use 3 of those 400 watt panels to use the full capabilities of the smart home panel.
    I already have enough panels for my spare projects and don't want to spend another $1000 + to get this work the way I want it to. Portable panels, no matter who sells them, are not an option.

    Just what I've been looking for. This appears perfect for my 50 amp RV. Going to an RV camp, one finds 30 and 50 amp outlets to power your rig. With its 6,000-watt inverter, shouldn't this be able to run the AC units on top of my 50 amp 5th wheel? If you don't pre-charge your solar generator with the rooftop solar panels, can you accomplish the same thing by charging it from an electrical outlet? Thanks for another great vlog!

    Everything was fine except the mini split consumption in turbo mode. The mini split will ramp up in aprox 10 or more minutes to 100% capacity, from low power up to 2k watts. When the space is cooled, then it will slowly go down again. Putting the unit in turbo mode wont ramp up the compressor instantaneously.

    Solar input is a MAJOR issue with a unit of this size and capability. I only know of one larger wattage panel below 20V VOC to be able to do a 3s3p setup - the Newpowa 180w panel with a 19.84 VOC.

    If memory serves me anker has a xt60 setup that you plug 1 side into the unit and then be able to plug up to 5 panels on the other side. I figure if they are shipping those out with another one of their units to reach 1200 then one in each port would bring you 2400. Also jasonoid has a video about this issue and which panels work with the 3800. I think he said yours was a no go

    Have you tried to use a Solar Combiner Box? That might help Max out the Solar with your current setup. (might involve a lot of wiring though because of how spread out your panels are) I hate doing a lot of Parallel connections that's why I avoided this Power station, It might be great for someone that has a lot of trees

    I found out that every time I switch my interlock system, the refrigerator surges and demands more power than usual. So just like my computer when the power goes out, I bought another surge protector with a lead acid battery, so my power is not interrupted, and now the refrigerator doesn’t surge, causing it to use more power than it needs to.
    I would not have known this without using my Victron connect app to see what happens when I’m flipping on and off power.

    I don't see this system on your spreadsheet. I am highly interested in this product and think with correct panel configuration it can be a full-time solar generator and is a very good backup option. 2 of them is ~$1000 more than a single DPU at present. That seems like a better deal. I do have to get the solar panel setup so that will be extra investment, but would be even more cost with the Ecoflow system. No doubt Ecoflow is great, but this looks like a better budget option and is more portable if ever needed. According to one estimate if running this constantly as a solar generator with near max solar input daily, then it would take 10 years to pay for itself. Is that true?
    Also someone commented on safety of this inverter internal circuit breakers and high frequency versus low-frequency. Are you able to do a video on solar safety equipment? The Anker is Low V so that should be safer by default, too. Although from what I remember from physiology, current is actually what kills, or is more directly related to tissue damage/ defibrillation.
    I originally wanted a cheapo plug/play station for home office, but decided want water pump ~5600W to work, too and then throw in a 3ton HVAC of ~10kW for startup of compressor and that's why I think 2 Ankers could make sense for me. Also there is built-in redundancy that 1 Anker fail the other can still pretty much cover the whole house except HVACs anyway. Would like to talk through it with someone, but my local electrician is unfamiliar.

    I see those solar panels are all flexible (looks like it to me), when you decide to build your mount for them, how will them be secured from theft? Just putting a thought out before your build. I currently have 4 flexible panels and looking for a more secure setup, since these things are very light and could easily grow some legs ... thanks in advance :)

    I've got a 3800 with an extra battery for 7.8Kw total. I use (2) 535w, 48v, 13 amp panels. It works GREAT with 2 panels and can power my central AC, electric stove, anything I need it to. I'm checking to see if I can add another panel on the other XT60 plug for another 13 amps or if the 25 amps it total for both of the XT60 plugs. The latest update enabled A/C and D/C charging together and the app is super handy too, you can monitor and control the unit from your phone.
