Travelling down the WCML now. Still see many of the fixtures still up, albeit modernised, testament to the ambition of that time. My only gripe is that the ECML, GW, GE and pennine routes as well as the whole network should’ve been electrified sooner!
@@thepacerman i got in and qualified however the random schedules and middle of the night shifts really drained me. So i've gone back to school to become an electrical engineer for the railways hopefully.
This is so good, literally run my Class 91 and Mk3 stock to this music, such a vibe running model trains. Any chance we could colab? I’d love to film my model trains to this music, its very inspiring!
It's a shame it's 2023 and nothings been done to improve the third rail to either a more efficient voltage, better the power supply or to remove it entirely amd replace it with overhead lines.
They're mostly for linking up each wagon for the vaccum braking system. That's why in the steam era there were such things as "Fitted" wagons (wagons fitted with vaccum brakes and vaccum brake piping) and "Unfitted" wagons, wagons which did not have vaccum braking. You can tell the difference between them due to the lack of vaccum braking hoses. British Rail mostly used the screwlink coupler system for their couplings.
fyi its modernisation not modernization, alot of spell checkers, such as the one built into Windows and Google's browser, default to american English, rather than real English.
Overhead wires are really ugly. I love trains, but just outside Paisley Gilmour Street towards Glasgow, they've put new Overhead gantries and it's far too much, almost American. 😢 it really spoils the look of the railway.
I've always thought that the new gantries look over-engineered particularly in the Reading area. The lattice masts that they have in Germany look far more elegant.
@@johnkelly1083 The OHLE on the GWML was deliberately over-engineered after what was learnt from the under-engineering on the WCML OHLE. It is built to Swiss standards iirc.

Old short BR documentary videos with 80s-inspired music is a vibe I never thought I could get behind.
Love the old tv video's from the 80's with the jazz music. I was so happy to see a working class 370 Apt at the end!😄
Intercity makes the going easy. So much high voltage in one video I'm buzzing!!😆
I really wish you'd make more of these. These films are wonderful and inspiring! Pacing is just nearly sublime!
More will be made...! We've got the APT and InterCity WestCoast todo yet. Might have a break and go a shorter....Glasgow based...video...

He doesn’t make them. They’re ripped-off 1960s documentaries. He doesn’t even speak English…”Railwaves”?!
... I must admit to having watched this about 20 times by now lol
Glad you keep coming back for more!

brilliant insight into the begining of the WCML electrification
This is great! The juxtaposition of 80s soundtrack on top of the old BTFR(?) films works for me! Good stuff!
wish me luck, i'm hoping to get an interview to go be a train driver

When Britain had greatness....
I just noticed but the British Rail Class 85 looks a little like Indian Railways WAP-5.
Loved the use of a slide rule.

Brilliant. Old footage but better music too.
These videos are great, I'd love to see you make one for the woodhead electrification 👍. Nice work well done, subscribed.
Fantastic more Network Wave👍
Plenty more to come! Japan Citypop Railwaves too perhaps, fellow KanColle person ;)
Good editing, love that!
Really nice!!! 👌🆙🚊 I dropped a big 👍 for ya.
Fantastic video sir!
Care for a British Rail now?
Excellent film, sadly travel is not as comfortable as it was then.
Is this music on Spotify etc? Love it :)

5:33. I am guessing those pipes that are in the front of different British rail old trains are for coupling???
Those are for im guessing brake pipe and vaccum hoses and cablea to do MU

Good old BTC footage, but the music is intrusive and not fitting with the era of the footage.
Im looking for an original version without the kitchy music.

Can't watch this for the ridiculously loud and distracting music dubbed over the original commentary. Why?
