As a Kansas Citian (aka Jackson County, Mo) its always so funny that mormons think the second coming will happen there 😂

LOVED this episode! Quick note - I’m not sure if you have control over how many ads play, but there was an excessive amount for me (every 5ish minutes). It was a bit much.

I LOVE YOUR PODCAST. That being said, I'm a huge HP fan, the food issue is explained by one of 5 exceptions to Gamp's law of Elemental Transfiguration. Sorry, carry on.

all of these are so wacky omg
i can understand how someone who was raised in this could believe it (you don't know what you don't know), but i'm astounded that any convert could believe in any of this. tbf, many bible stories are also unbelievable to me. mormon lore just feels so much more sci fi to me for some reason

Hehehe...19 years ex-mo and I still haven't gotten this question from anyone.
Another obscure not very pop-culture reference to Kolob is in a mobile game called Terragenesis (simulates terraforming real and fictional planets), where "Kolob's Warmth" is a randomly generated suggestion for a city name.

Sirius is referred to as the dog star, maybe it's where furries originate 😉

Does the Book of Mormon mention anything about Eunuchs or Harems? Or just in the Bible?

Evolution s describes the gradual change and adaptation of various forms of life. Science has vague theories about biogenesis or the actual beginning of life but it's theories about the necessary conditions have not been recreated or proven in any way. The book of Genesis is widely considered to be borrowed from Sumerian and other previous cultures creation stories, the flood and all that good stuff in particular.

I must have been a very cultured Mormon because I had known about every one of these deep doctrines. 🤪
Update: I listened to this just before I fell asleep and I had nightmares. 🤣 Not saying the host or her delivery is scary. Instead, it speaks to the strange and dark nature of the deep doctrine of the LDS Church.

I wonder if Mormons baptise in olive oil or something, was John the Baptist dunking Jesus in a river of dust or something?

Idk. Could you imagine being responsible for the suffering that occurred on an entire planet; see Earth for more.

I started deep diving into doctrine towards the end of my mission in 2014. A contraband essay about intelligences was circulating through the mission and I had a chance to read it. It seemed made up to me at the time. 10 years later the whole organization seems made up. Like a fan fiction version of Christianity.
