The original door had a secret pull wire some eight feet to the right of the door which when pulled unlocked the swinging door. The door had rocks cemented to it which closed against some rocks to give the impression no door just a small rock fall. It also had a flexible chimney flue coming out further up the crag above. You can scramble further back inside and come out further up the crag on the right
Cheers Lee, it's a great spot to visit, and I agree such a shame it got vandalised 😪 i did have a look through the door towards the rear exit, but it was soaking wet, so decided against a trip up there 🤣 thanks for watching and commenting, it's really appreciated, atb Paul 🙏🏕🏕🏕😁
I camped for 2 weeks on St Agnes, in the Isles of Scilly, it was great to see that the campers were so generous, anyone who had food left or soap, washing powder, shower gel, books they'd read, loo roll, etc etc, left it all on a shelf (the only place to charge your phone!) and anyone who has need of it, was welcome to it.
I love the fact that most bothies have stuff left behind, i generally try to leave something useful behind on my trips to them. Sounds like you had a great trip, I definitely need to visit that area. Catch you soon, atb Paul 🙏🏕🏕🏕😁
Only for those that do the research, it's taken me years to find it, and as the plaque on the rock says, it was built for everyone to enjoy, atb Paul 🏕🏕🏕😁
Absolutely buzzing you found the cave. What a unique place for a camp. Definitely looked more spacious than I thought it would be. I'm hopefully going to get there back end of the year. ATB Dan 👍 👍 👍 👍
@CampingDan85 cheers brother, it's a cracking spot for a camp, and I'd highly recommend you pay it a visit 😁 once you have squeezed in it's just spacious enough 👍 catch you soon bro, atb Paul 🙏 🏕 🏕🏕❤️
As an avid explorer of jem’s in the lakes & a respectable wild camper woof cave has been on the list for me for a while, I’ve never been before however I am VERY good with directions & already know where it is. The problem is I fear it’s only a matter of time before this very well kept hidden jem becomes known to undesirables more frequently & I for one will not let that happen on my part so the secrets safe with me. I think I’ll visit this place mid week at some point when everyone’s at work probably in the winter months to really avoid the crowds too as I’d like to enjoy the place to myself for a night.. I tried with priests hole but that place is just a magnet for wild campers these days it’s occupied nearly every night of the week.
@heavycloud9545 I highly recommend you visit, it's a cool spot, I try to find the balance between sharing and just giving spots away to everyone. I hope when you go there you experience it at its best buddy, atb Paul 🙏🏕🏕🏕😁
wow paul what a cracking place you found , I bet it would if been nice in the morning to have had a dip in that river if you would have had time , it was a great watch especially whilst sitting on my balcony having a brew in Turkey, looking forward to the next adventure
Cheers Stuart, glad you enjoyed it, I was very excited to finally find the cave, and it was just as cool as I'd hoped for 😁 enjoy your holiday pal, apologies for the late reply, I'm currently on Hadrians wall multi day hike, atb Paul 🙏🏕🏕🏕😁
Cheers Craig, I was lucky enough to get a park in the village just before the campsite 👍 apologies for the late reply, I'm currently on Hadrians wall multi day hikes. Atb Paul 🙏 🏕🏕🏕😁
Nice 1 Paul what a cracking find bet you were well chuffed! Bit gutted for you that u had company in such a small space, I'd have let you have it to yourself if it were other way round. U were a good sport about it though and it's all part of the fun with these shelters I know but always nice to get them to yourself!
Cheers Cat, yeah I was very excited to finally find it 😁 the lads were good craik, but I'll definitely be returning in winter for a solo 👌 cath you soon, atb Paul 🙏 🏕🏕🏕😁

@phillippearce8270 awesome information bro, I really appreciate it 🙏 atb Paul 🙏 🏕🏕🏕😁
Your description is just how I remembered it. It was a magical place to spend the night.
I stayed here when the door was intact. Such a shame it’s been vandalised. There was an exit at the back that leads outside.
