Yes and it is said in the bible that a priest should be married, because if a priest cannot have a wife and family, then he has no business leading a church

Hello, I am an Evangelical Christian who firmly believes that the Bible in its original languages is the inerrant word of God. I feel that there is "no perfect corporate church". All of them make mistakes. The reason being that corporate churches are created by humans. God puts His church in all of us. We, the faithful, are his church, not the building that houses the church. Every denomination has some truly faithful Christians despite errors in teachings. Also every denomination has charlatans that profess Christianity and use their profession as a way to take money from those who willingly give what their pastors require of them. I firmly believe that Jesus came to carry the sins away of those who truly repent. If a pastor does not teach what sin is, how can his parish know what they have to repent of or even what repentance is? With that said, I say, "Bless you all, who believe in the Father, God who has created all there is, Jesus Son of God, who carries our sins away, and the Holy Spirit, who Jesus left to0 guide us to follow in Jesus footsteps. AMEN?

As Orthodox the clergy does not name kings and the church had no influence over who will take the power. Since Charlemagne came to power in the West and the Pope started to chose the kings in the name of God the Westerner couldn't accept that a king named by god could be overthrown by a coup d'état and this was the reason of the sack of Constantinople. Annulment is not a divorce but a declaration that marriage never took place, at all. For example if the bride was forced and thus did not consent or was not conscious of what happened, did not intend to follow the oaths, lied about who she is, so on and so forth. The E.O.openly allow divorce and have done so for centuries. Otherwise great video, keep up the good work!
I'm Filipino Catholic & FYI the reality as I know of it, annulment is used as an escape when one wants out of the marriage & usualy easy to obtain when the one who petition has money to pay coz its expensive. Reasons can be weaved to make a favorable picture or even fabricated to make it easy & when you really think about it, the reality is that: marriage took place but the adults want to believe it didn't, so that they're free to marry again & the church is complicit to the idea. So in its raw truth, it is just like divorce but bcoz of the desire to strictly adhere to the "pureness" of religiousity, it's nice to think "no it didn't happen" 😁 well, human nature dictates we try to find loopholes even in our minds & religion can helpfuly oblige coz after all, religion is practiced by human beings so its up to us to bend reality.
sometimes annulment can be just things like being overcome with love and not being able to think clearly when getting married. annulments are kinda like divorces in a way but they mean it's been like that from the start. what I'm more worried about is if you have intercourse with the spouse then get annulled does that mean you have committed fornication
@Colin Sheehan I wouldn't say there's no evidence. There is a lot less evidence because we are living in this time now where so much information is available to us. Things were pretty bad right before the Arian heresy. Things were pretty bad before the heretical Reformation. To be honest things being bad seems to be the rule rather than the exception. We tend to romanticize much of Church history. But glory be to God the Holy Spirit who guides the Church
I like both, but I'll have to say I prefer Byzantine chant over the Gregorian, mostly because of the complex ornamentation and melody, and the ever-present ison; perhaps Byzantine chant holds my attention more firmly because there is a lot more going on (changes of "echo" and meter, etc). There is also a lot of other great music of the church on both sides that is neither strictly Byzantine nor Gregorian, for instance the polyphonic masses of composers such as Hildegaard von Bingen (as opposed to the monophonic Gregorian style) or devotional Orthodox hymns such as "Agni Parthene", which was composed (or "received" if you like) long after the Byzantine era... Also the great masses and liturgys of the classical composers like Mozart and Tchaikovsky.
343 not guilty spark: I am the other way around:). I prefer Gregorian chanting, which is what drew me to Roman Catholicism from Orthodoxy, the church I was born into.
Why do you baptize Babies ? Jesus Said you have to repent your sins and than get baptized. Can a Baby repent sins? Why do you mix Tradition With Gods Word ? Believe in The words in the Bible and act like Jesus Said. No verse in the Bible teaches us to baptize Babies.
Why would you hold your baby whom you love back from being born again of water and spirit, being cleansed from original sin, and being anointed in Christ? Nowhere in the Bible does it say one has to be older to be baptized, no the Bible encourages for everyone living to be baptized in name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Would you want to hold your baby back from being baptized ? Why? Because from the Great Commission and up to about 5 hundred years ago, every Christian was Catholic(including Eastern) and baptized babies if the parents wanted the most to be baptized. It is the greatest act of love to baptize your child even if they can’t ask. Even more, our Lord Jesus himself was circumcised on the 8th day, and He couldn't make the decision for himself yet could he ?
@McSpankey circumcise and baptize are 2 different things and only Child-baptizer are using this Argument. Circumcise was in the old Testament , which was satisfy By Jesus. I ask you now, if JESUS says, get baptized when you repent your sin & want to follow me. WHO are YOU who are the PEOPLE to change the word of bible/ not to do what the bible says. Can a Baby repent sin? Say me pls. Please DONT follow Tradition, follow the word of Jesus Christ. I know its hard to say I am right , but I just using the Bible for my Arguments and the Bible is the True. You are using not the Bible but own Tradition
And I'd add another specification unless Catholics are having some international gathering or really solemn celebrations where the Pope or the cardinal/bishop presides, they might opt for mass in latin if not whole of it, at least in part, while the Catholic liturgy is in 99 % of cases always in local current language ever since the Vatican Council 2 in the sixities.
Mark Vincent Baculna The coolest and most unique thing about catholics is that they are a democratic monarchy and a single bishop doesn't have limitless power in it's diocis like in the orthodox church (I'm not sure of the oriental, but eastern European orthodox are like that). For ex. a catholic bishop can't unjustly suspend a preast of it's diocys ad libitum (indefinetly, till he dies). He must have proofs that the priest acted against faith and morals, and after a period a reintegration process starts, yet I know of an orthodox biahop that did that, becouse a preast that he invited for a consultation simply expressed a different opinion and approach on pastoral problems, so he snaped and suspended him which left the poor guy and his family homeless and incomless over night, some of parishoners helped him out and after a few years of struggling he migrated to EU in look of a job, ended up in areas where there aren't orthox churches, he lives on heart broken and on Sunday goes to a Catholic church in order to listen to something similar he used to celebrate! His bishop never reached out to him directly or indirectly and even denied meeting him again. In catholic church, if you think you're innocent and can prove it, you can always appeal to higher levels and obtain justice wether you're a religious, a preast or a lay person. In orthodox church the power of a local bishop over his subordinates hadn't changed since the middle ages and their bishop conferences are simply consultive, so you can decide not to participate or partecipate and not accept the conclusions and pick up doing what ever they were doing before that, like if nothing happened. In terms of organization (that requires legislation and norms so same transparent rules for everybody) along with a different grade of personal or democratical autonomy on all levels is empowering not just for the preasts but even for the lay people and that's the main secret of why there are so many orders, movements and associations in catholic church. How ever you look at it, there's always a path of obtaining or achieving whatever it is God inspires you to do inside the boundries of the catholic church. I'm not saying it always goes smoothly, but what in life does? I'm just pointing out that it's possible and why.
Mark Paul Francis Xavier thats sweet of you but we do accept jesus christ pbuh. We believe he is a prophet. You believe he is the son of god and we dont mind it. But can you please tell me why do the jews believe that he is the false messiah? Jesus is not a false messiah. Jesus is the only messiah

Marriage is a sacrament in the Catholic church, except for priests who must remain celibate. See 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 New King James Version (NKJV) 32 But I want you to be without [a]care. He who is unmarried [b]cares for the things of the Lord-how he may please the Lord. 33 But he who is married cares about the things of the world-how he may please his wife. 34 There is a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world-how she may please her husband. 35 And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.

Marriage is the need just like food. Even church holiness is compromised by having priests and nuns. They get attraced and become physical. Marriage is for saving the eyes and body by an permissible method.
@@MS-Hussain Well, the bible talks about those that sanctify themselves only to God and have no fleshly need, or deny the flesh to serve God. Paul himself said that he would that everyone were as he was (single/celibate/consecrated only to Christ). I used to think it was a big fault of the Catholic faith to have celibate priests and nuns. Recently, I'm not so convinced of that. There is a popular and feisty Catholic Priest, Father Altman. He is easy to look up and has taken some very brave stances. It really struck me when he said w/ such obvious, non-contrived love, and tears in his eyes, that since he did not get to have a family and children, all his parish are his children. This sweet holyman truly meant this. It has given me great pause every since, and there is much scriptural backing for it. I'm not Catholic, just trying to learn about my church fathers and history.

The pope is only infallible when he speaks ex cathedra or when what he's teaching is taught by all bishops, is already part of the doctrine. The purgatory isn't a place where the sin is forgiven, but a place where you're purified from your tendency to sin. The prayers of others also help the souls in the purgatory, so as holy water and masses.
@Asaph Vapor The pope isn't infallible in everything he does or says, only when he claims the infallibility or when he's reaffirming the teaching of the Church. Yes, popes can sin and make mistakes, nobody is denying this... but when they talk ex cathedra, they're infallible.
@Asaph Vapor Ok, about purgatory... We have a tendency to sin (in portuguese we call it "concupiscência"). We were born with it, and it's deepened with our personal sins. Even when ours sins are forgiven at the sacrament of confession, there are marks left by the sins that remain in our souls. These marks are cleaned with penance... or in the purgatory, because we cannot go to heaven in this state of impurity.
@Asaph Vapor Protestant shoo. You are clearly not reading the counter arguments produced against you. And you clearly aren't part of the mother Churches of Catholicism and Orthodoxy because you are teaching your interpretation of the Bible against the correct interpretation. Stop writing paragraphs of your opinions that is fundamentally and theologically flawed. We've been refuting you and your claims for so long. There is no authority in your protestant church.

I started going to church again, i started praying before starting new day, sleeping and eating and i trust in my lord. I am a Roman Catholic, and probably will be for my whole life, however, I feel like the apostles would not like their pupils to be fighting. They often talk about not schisming. There are definitely things that we cannot agree on, however, I hope that eventually that we can have some sort of compromise. With us sacrificing some power and the orthodox also. Especially being here in the U.S. the protestants are actively attacking both Catholic and Orthodox, and because of this we must put aside our differences, even for a temporal, loose, and basic-coordinated bond, to put away the ever growing worldliness of all other religions and some Christian heresies.

There is a mistake in 2:23... Catholic - This is My Body Orthodox- Send down the Holy Spirit.. In Catholic Mass before the Priest repeated the word of Jesus Christ "This is My Body" he ask for the Holy Spirit to turn bread and wine into Body and Blood of Christ.
But then that depends on the canon being used. The Roman canon has its "implicit epiclesis" with the prayer Supplices te rogamus. Then of course there is Quam oblationem and the offertory prayer Come thou sanctifier.
The point is that, while in that canon the priest does pray to the Holy Spirit, the point of change is thought to be the words of the institution, not the prayer to the Holy Spirit (as is in the Orthodox Church).
@@BibleIllustrated They( I mean the Catholics.) don't have the epiklesis as we have. They don't call the holy Spirit upon the bread and wine. They say thay the bread and the wine are already sacred and is no need to invocate Holy Spirit upon the Sacred Gifts!
I am Orthodox and honestly I tend to agree. My Orthodox church has pews for sitting down during the sermon and then we stand for the entire Liturgy. I always tell visitors who have trouble standing for so long “it is better to sit and think about God, than to stand and think about legs”🤣
Simon Jose because of tara parvati asherah pole and shiva represents monks all over the world. Vajrayogini and shiva. the underworld. against lord jesus and his followers.
Both churches self-identify as Catholic, it being one of the four Marks of the Church (One, Holy and Apostolic being the other three.) The formal name of the Orthodox church is the Orthodox Catholic Church, as opposed to the Roman Catholic Church that is typically but mistakenly identified as uniquely Catholic.
Before I converted to Eastern Orthodoxy, I also considered Catholicism and Coptic Orthodoxy. I was baptized as an infant in the Roman Catholic church and attended a Roman Catholic school for the first couple years of my life , but when my parents left the Roman Catholic church when I was around 7, I subsequently did too. Most of my family are Catholics tho, I do love Catholics and think we have a lot in common. As well as the Copts, we have a lot in common with them too. But I became more attracted to Greek Orthodoxy when I discovered the channel Y2AM on UA-cam.
I'm Catholic altho I like to say I'm Christian. I love this video so much, thank you, specialy the last part about lace & the laugh 😄 I laughed too! My dad told me many years ago when he was still alive that if I ever decide to change religion he said it should only be Russian Orthodux Christian. I remmber as a very young child my mom & I used to wear veil & the priest faced the altar too. I hope someday to travel to Russia. God willing!
We are Christians providing we have faith in Christ's salvation alone through his grace. I'm A Catholic Christian who along with music ministry are trying to bring emphasis on Christ, not the Pope.
I am a Catholic and I think a few clarifications/corrections are needed: 1. Catholic bishops can have beards. 2. Papal infallibility looks like a dangerous doctrine, but in fact it is very rarely used, for example was used to confirm the doctrine of the Assumption of Mary. Same could be said about ecumenical councils. Surely not much people would have a problem if a council defined that. 3. The "Sacrament of Unction" is now called the Annointing of the Sick. For a long time, it has been given almost only to dying/very, very seriously ill people. The Church has however changed its approach and tries to promote a more widespread use of it. Sadly, many people still regard this sacrament as only for those dying and do not recieve it, even though they can. 4. An annulment of marriage is not terminating the marriage, but rather stating that it was never sacramental. Even though many people regard this as a "catholic divorce", you must have reasons why the sacrament was invalid, and thus the reasons must concern the situation when the sacrament took place, not what happened afterwards in the marriage. There is a number of possible reasons for annulments, some of which are not very rare. 5. While the "old mass" requires the priest to face the altar, the new order of mass allows for both facing the altar and facing the people, but usually it is done facing the people. 6. Even though Catholics have pews, they still stand during the Eucharistic Liturgy (eucharistic prayer to communion). So there is standing - an act of active worship and participation, but the legs don't hurt. Sitting during the readings represents a more "recieving" attitude (though we stand for the gospel for reverence).
It's amazing that an Orthodox like yourself understands Papal Infallibility more than most Catholics and Protestants. Love this (hilarious) video, from your Filipino Catholic brother. God bless! 🇵🇭🇻🇦✝️
Greetings brothers, I'm catholic myself, just seeing point of view from my brothers from ortodox church. Its strange to see relatable and respectiful responses amoung our brothers in the comment section. From Brazil, here there are few ortodoxes, with decreasing catholic population and increase of protestatism.
Thank you! I stumbled upon your vlog somehow. I am SO glad! Thank you, love it! As an Orthodox convert, in 2006, I still have much to learn of our faith. At St George of Troy, MI our Priest doesn't have a beard; it seems most Antiochian Orthodox priests do not have beards. Thank you again for your vlog; it was both informative and humorous, thank you so much. Glory to Jesus Christ!
1:24 just would like to mention: this was a little misleading, as the Pope does not exactly have “ultimate power” - he is more like a president, with a republic, like the orthodoxy
By becoming Roman Catholics, the One and ONLY universal = catholic Christian church. Any other church, Judaism, Muslim, Budhist ... is not God's Church! Amen.
I was born & raised Catholic, but must say converting to Orthodoxy was the very best decision I've made. Quite frankly, its just so much richer & deeper.

“Catholic priests are miserable from having to be celibate.”
“Orthodox priests are miserable from having to married. Unless they’re monks. Then they’re miserable like the Catholics.”

Yes and it is said in the bible that a priest should be married, because if a priest cannot have a wife and family, then he has no business leading a church
@@N.Narwhal
Says who?
Priests don't have to.

Hi, I'm Catholic! Amen indeed!
AMEN?

@Colin Sheehan let's not act like we weren't abusing it before Vatican 2
sometimes annulment can be just things like being overcome with love and not being able to think clearly when getting married. annulments are kinda like divorces in a way but they mean it's been like that from the start. what I'm more worried about is if you have intercourse with the spouse then get annulled does that mean you have committed fornication
@@graceantonio3573 may as well be, but everyone knows that in that case we are talking about something illegal.
I must say, I do prefer to listen to Byzantine/Greek orthodox chanting more so than Roman Catholic Gregorian chanting.
I'm split 50/50 :-)
There needs to be more Gregorian music written for bass.
Come and visit a syrian orthodox church we pray in Aramaic the language of jesus :)

I was about to say that, thank you very much!!
And the local bishop councils are powerful too.
Mark Vincent Baculna
The coolest and most unique thing about catholics is that they are a democratic monarchy and a single bishop doesn't have limitless power in it's diocis like in the orthodox church (I'm not sure of the oriental, but eastern European orthodox are like that). For ex. a catholic bishop can't unjustly suspend a preast of it's diocys ad libitum (indefinetly, till he dies).
As a Muslim, May god bless you all. This life is just too short to hate. So many love and peace from me to you

Yup!
Marriage is a sacrament in the Catholic church, except for priests who must remain celibate. See 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 New King James Version (NKJV)
32 But I want you to be without [a]care.

I like how in this video you didn't immediately demonize Catholics and call them evil for their theological differences. Most Orthodox literature I've seen has done that. The preface of my Orthodox study Bible does so. Good video!
But I literally said all of that in the video.
@Asaph Vapor
The pope isn't infallible in everything he does or says, only when he claims the infallibility or when he's reaffirming the teaching of the Church. Yes, popes can sin and make mistakes, nobody is denying this... but when they talk ex cathedra, they're infallible.
@Asaph Vapor
Ok, about purgatory...
@Asaph Vapor Someone called Jesus Christ. You probably don't know him. He started my church. You need to brush up on your church history. We gave you the compilation of books you call the Bible( until grumpy ol' Luther decided he didn't like the books in the bible that disagreed with him), we gave you the Trinity, we gave your ancestors the faith in the Lord, we gave you the creed you profess- you took this and made them into your own little fantasy, stabbing the Church instituted by Christ in the back. But right, we are the bad guys...... I can't argue with such ignorance. So I'll pray for you. Have a nice day. Also a protestant lecturing a Catholic about context, that's rich hahaha; while you're at it, why don't you go teach Mozart how to play the piano.
This video is extremely well-done.

I'm 14 years old catholic from Poland. About year ago i was struggling with sins like lust, envy etc. But i had a dream that completely changed the way im thinking right now. In that dream i was alone in my room when suddenly everything became gloomy and my room became blood red. Then i saw turned upside down cross and some wierd book laying right in front of my doors wich truly wasn't the holy bible. It was something else but i don't know exactly. Moments after i saw all of this i kneel and started praying most common prayers in catholic church like Hail Mary, Our Father etc. After my prayers i felt instant peace and comfort inside me, when i opened my eyes i saw my room was filled with light, book that i saw earlier disappeared and cross that was hanging above my doors got normal and basically that's it i woke up and started a new day but that event changed me. I started going to church again, i started praying before starting new day, sleeping and eating and i trust in my lord. That was about year ago, sometimes i think if im not attending church, praying and reading the word of god with excess, my parents say i do but without any doubts that dream and my decision about repenting from my sins and following my lord was the best think that met me in my short period of life. Who knows maybe in my future i will try something new and try orthodoxy. God bless everyone

Eh, I do think that, above all else, the schism was a power struggle that eventually led to differences in doctrines. But yeah, I am glad that our relations are far, FAR better than, say, 100 years ago :-D

There is a mistake in 2:23...
Catholic - This is My Body
Orthodox- Send down the Holy Spirit..
That's a lie!
@@grasuoctavian2817 What is?

@@Ggdivhjkjl It is the blasphemy against the Holy Spirit
I think the schism only exists if you believe it exists.

I am a Catholic and I think a few clarifications/corrections are needed:
You waited till the end to cover the most important thing of all. All that lace.
Lace is used to cover, yes.
I have friends, former Anglicans now Catholic in what is called the Ordinariate, who would say "More lace is more grace".
