    I recently discovered your channel. I to purchased a 2016 Ford Utility Police Interceptor in almost new condition. It had more accessories installed in it have set it up for K9 use as I have a Service K9 to assist me. I have installed some HF, 2mtr and 70cm and some other gear.
    There are no dealers in my area that are educated in helping me with installing other options and accessories.
    Your channel is very helpful.

    Great video, My ‘16 had 70k when I purchased it. I purchased tires on EBay from a dealer in Chicago. They were listed as used with 9.5-10/32. Total price was less than $200 for 4 with free shipping. All you will have to do is have them mounted and balanced.

    Dig it man. I've had mine for 3 years as well. Been wanting to swap a few things and add a kill switch for all the lights for night vision driving. Not sure how to do it but am definitely on the path.

    I order my interceptor tires at Walmart. Learned that the hard way when my local Goodyear auto center wanted 700+ for two

    Great video, and I like both formats of filming you've used. I bought my 2013 Ford Explorer from the state of Kentucky when it has 133k miles in 2018. As of 2020 I have 168k miles...the D-pillar trim on my driver side is cracked as well. The rubber "trim" has cracked but not ripped off. As for mechanical issues I've done routine maintenance with no crazy issues. The biggest being the belt decided to rip apart at 60 mph. Put a new belt on and haven't had an issues since. I run Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires. What surprised me the most was the capability of the Explorer, on and off road. It's not a rock crawler by any means, but I've had mine in some rough back trails (A lot in Catoosa, which is a wildlife management area.) I was the only one I seen going in there with a SUV, but the Explorer never struggled. One of my biggest complaints would be the lighting in and outside the vehicle. The headlights on the 2016 to 2019 Ford Explorers will out shine mine any day. Other than a few more miner things I trust that it'll take me anywhere I need to go and on any day. As for your NMO mount I wonder what could have caused that? I haven't had that issues on mine yet lol. Hopefully I won't ever haha.

    I'm considering buying a 2017 piu with 30k miles on it ("minor rear end damage") always liked the clean look of them and the rollover safety. The rear end safety to me is really impressive. I hear as long as u maintain them and swap out ur belt + water pump every 100k miles they're bulletproof (no pun intended)

      @turbo2ltr  2 роки тому +3

      Just know that the water pump is inside the engine and can be like a $3500 job.

    I know this video is a year old and you’ve probably figured it out by now but the cracking on those plastic pieces on the back is a common thing. When I was shopping for my explorer every single one we found and looked at had a crack in it

    So I bought mine in 2016 same place as you in Kansas I believe.
    I use mine for security patrols.
    150k miles. 2 PTUs and one transmission. A/C is also out due to a sensor in the dash needing replacement. You have to take the whole dash out to replace the evaporator core. Change your cabin air filter often.
    The original tires were ok until around 50k then they had enough tread ware to notice issues when driving in rain. Random times the radio doesn't work or even light up.
    It now has an issue of crossfiring when I accelerate fast. Also had a new fuel pump in it. Brakes have been changed twice as well.
    Not really hard on this vehicle. Oil changed often. IMO avoid the 2016. 2017s seem to do a lot better.

    I looked at a 17 today with the same crack as yours at the top of the fixed glass. ...the middle of the piece was also SEVERELY heat warped, so i think it was parked too close to a car-bq. No other perceivable heat damage though, so either its a real oddity or the tail light was replaced.

    I like the new video style! I have a 2016 I got with 96k miles. I have 106k miles now and noticed the air vent switcher door appears to have failed. The temperature blend door still works, but air only goes through floor vent. Switching to other vents works on the buttons, but I can't hear the door move and the air doesn't change flow. Was hoping this would be an easy fix but it looks like I'll have to take the dashboard off.

    I would love to meet up and compare notes, I just acquired a 2014 3.5L the some color and wheel package. My only complaint is the previous owner installed the civilian center console and didn't wire it up at all. I might try and get my hands on a Havis unit before going radio crazy.

    This is a great video. I’m in the market for a new used car, and I hadn’t considered a police interceptor before. I’m also really drawn to the Sedan. Are these AWD and Flex Fuel capable?

    Hey does your PIU have a/c to the rear? Do you know how involved it is to get it flowing back there? And what about the rear windows rolling up/down?

    • @turbo2ltr
      @turbo2ltr  2 роки тому +1

      It does not. A/C in the rear is a completely separate system that reside on the drivers side rear quarter panel. The ducts are molded into the headliner up to the edge of the roof near the C pillar, Then the rest of the ducts are missing. The rear windows work as expected. If yours don't work pull the door panel and make sure they are plugged in.

    Hello!
    I will be attempting a P.A. speaker install under the hood of my decommissioned 2015 PIU. Are there any firewall pass-through wires without voltage connected that can be used for the speaker feed?
    Thank you in advance!
    Jeff

    • @turbo2ltr
      @turbo2ltr  2 роки тому

      I thought I had a video about it but I guess not. There are a group of blunt-cut wires going from inside the cab under the dash near the Ebrake (they are WAY under there) and travel to just behind the front headlight near the fuse box. It's a group of 10 or so wires, some are twisted, that do not have a connector on the end. Go here fordbbas.com/publications and download the Police Modifier guide for the 2015 and it has everything you need to know about it.

      3.5 eco for turbos or 3.7 for naturally aspirated, both water pumps are internal and might go bad with will destroy the engine.
