Drone Construction Mapping And Time Lapse Video: Full Process Walk Through

- This week we're going to take a look at a new Drone Construction Progression project. We're documenting the build out of a new Sports Complex, including new sports fields and a BMX bike track. We'll be doing Drone Mapping of the new recreation areas, Drone Video Progression, and eventually a walk through of the Sports Complex interior as well.
This video will give you a high level view of the Drone Mapping and progression reporting project. We'll be using Litchi and Map Pilot Pro for our flight image and video, WebODM for rendering our map, Photoshop for Orthomosaic alignment, Final Cut Pro for our video editing, and a few more items as well.

Pretty neat to see how the techniques and process used for building construction projects work for other kinds of construction.
Agreed. It doesn't always have to be about buildings. We could be documenting new infrastructure on the ground, utilities installations, etc. The workflow across many industries is very similar, which should allow you to expand services as well.

What altitude do you normally set the drone at for the orthomosaic map with how much overlap for a basic setup like this one?

I've got two Mavic 2 Pros. And they're still doing the job for sure!
What do you do if there are say 5 stages of progression. How would you apply the slider to that? Just before and after? Do you export the layers that were aligned from photoshop in order to get the images to match up in the slider?
If we have several months worth of progressions we can show the most recent flight vs a flight a few months ago. Or we can show this month vs last month. That's usually what my clients look for. We do keep all of the collected data from each flight, so we can re-use previous orthos easily. And you can align more than 2 layers in Photoshop, so if you need several orthos over time you can easily render them, align them, and then present them. Hope this was helpful. 😀
@@AZ-Drone Very helpful. I didn’t think about using Photoshop to align them. I just assumed I would keep the exact same flight missions and hope for the same results but I haven’t put in practiced yet. Thank you. I have been on the lookout for a slider where you can select different dates. I haven’t found one yet.
