Ima cry! I've been so scared of trying to join the squares in a manner that doesn't leave that RIDGE! This worked so easily!! I learned to make the squares from you, so easy to grasp!! This afghan is for my grandson. It'll be gorgeous, thanks to you!! Keep doing this, you're great! Thanks, Teri, New Orleans Louisiana, America! Happy 2020!
I wanted to say a big thank you too as I've had a couple of orders off you while you were away on you honeymoon and I love the colours. Thanks to your tutorials I have started just my first granny square blanket. (Now I have mastered the squares lol.) Joined my first two together!! 👍🏻😀 xxx
I've always loved but have stayed away from Granny Squares cause I HATE sewing them together (the old-fashioned way) but I'm making a blanket for someone who LOVES Granny Squares and am using your video to join them. THIS IS GREAT! Thank you!
I was avoiding this method because a video that I watched a long time ago over-complicated the process. Then I decided to check this method again and came across your tutorial. You explain it in such an easy and simple way that I got it in a heartbeat. A lot of ppl can crochet but not all can teach. Thank you.
I like this way you join the Motives together this is the best one I’ve seen on UA-cam thank you for showing your techniques on crocheting the motives together keep up the good work
Thank you for explaining this so clearly from the first square. As others have said, you explain it so clearly that I have the confidence to crack on and join my first 20 squares into a cot blanket 🙏😊
I do have one question. When I mad my granny squares I did 3 clusters of dc and chained 2. When I start joining them I see you are chaining 1 between the clusters is their any particular reason or should I stay with my chain 2 so it stays with the pattern of my granny square?
After watching your video I just had to start a blanket immediately, and I did! It's so much fun, and at the same time very relaxing because it's so easy to do.
You’re an angel for also mention what is terms😭 I’m pretty good at remembering the difference between the USA and everyone else but I just want to thank you for including my stupid country’s crochet terms
I am absolutely in love with the join as you go. I will admit I was quite skeptical in my skills to do it as easily and as beautifully as so many others have. But I just went for and it is so fun and works up quickly. I do recommend it to everyone interested in the qranny squares. Thank you Belle Coco for your time in making these wonderful tutorials. 💕
thank you so much dear .finally I can join my granny squares by this way. I searched many sites about it but your video is the best ! best wishes for you :)
Being left handed I had to watch you video multiple times to get what I was looking for but this was exactly what I was looking for. I have a granny square blanket that I have been trying to figure out how to put together and now I can. Thank you very much.
I wasn't going to make any more granny squares because I didn't like sewing them all tog. But you have made it so easy I think I will make one of yours! Thank you so much, love your work.
i hate sewing any work together its usually there that the project looks so messy but I am delighted to find such an easy to follow tutorial on how to join granny squares, thank you, I am an experienced crocheter and i dont need to sewany more ;o) thats so fabulous for me I can now make granny square blakets with out the worry x
Thanks for the great video, after many years of joining the squares old fashioned way, you have helped me to master join as you go Phew only another hundred togo. ❤
I'm in love with this video. Mainly because I was one of those who couldn't figure out exactly how to start the 'Join as you go' method, after watching the other video of yours. In the end, I figured it out, after requesting you make this video. But unfortunately after getting so far with my blanket, my depression kicked in and for two weeks, I've either slept all day everyday or cried, or just had no motivation to do anything what so ever. So, to wrap my comment up, I want to say a huge huge thank you for making this video, as like I say, I eventually worked it out myself, but after two weeks of hating life, I've come to forget just how to Cross stitch. Whereas now I can get straight back into making my blanket bigger :-) and to move onto other projects. Thanks so much. :)
+Bella Coco so I kinda had a bad time with my depression and Thyroid disorder, which caused another break in my blanket, but I'm pleased to say I'm 8 squares away from finishing it :) before then just sowing in the ends, and I'll show/tag you into a photo on Instagram xxx Can't wait (whilst I'm ok) to start another project :) xxx
Excellent video! You explained everything well and have a very pleasant voice. I like that you showed from the start to the finish, and how to do joining two two corner pieces on the inside rows of the blanket. I have some pretty varigated leftover yarn that I'd like to make granny square centers with and it think the join as you go method is going to save me a ton of time not having to tie up loose ends. Thank you!!
i really liked your Technic for the join as you go method I'm actually making a blanket with the join as you go method just now and its very easy, I really like watching your crochet videos you have inspired me to make a multiple stuff while crocheting over the past view years, thank you
Fabulous video, thank you! I will take apart my squares that I attached via whip stitch back loops only and re-connect them using this method for a much neater appearance and a better connection! Thank goodness I found your video before I connected anymore squares!
OMG I get it!!!! I've watched so many videos on how to do this, but since I never got it, I had to keep sewing my squares together! I FINALLY get it!!!! Thank you!!!!!
Thank You. I have heard about join as you go for years but tried it and always got confused. You show everything slow enough for me to see what you’re doing as well as explaining it very well so that I understand it all without having to rewind or rewind it multiple times lol. Thank You!
I have learned so much from all your tutorials thank you and now I will do the join as you go, the granny square is one of my favorites to do, but I always struggled with joining.
Straight and to the point. One thing that has always annoyed me about crochet tutorials is how they ALWAYS assume that you are a complete beginner and don’t know how to make a chain or a treble, etc. thank you 🍧
Thank you for all the great videos! I'm having a great time learning how to craft all these pretty things, wich has previously been tricky for me. Keep up the great work! :)
Thank you for these instructions, join as you go. I stopped making square afghans because after making all the squares I had to join them all, somewhat tiring to say the least!
Can you use this method when your granny squares are solid? I just learned to make the solid granny squares from your tutorials and want to join them - I watched your tutorial on how to do that but I like the as you go idea.... Being super new to crochet I realize this could be such a stupid question 😜
This channel was recommended to me I managed to follow the join for the first square to the second, but cannot understand how to add the next one along, or do you have a more updated tutorial, help! X
I love all your videos. I'm new to crocheting and I've learned so much from you. I have a question regarding join as you go.I block my granny squares and I'm wondering how I would incorporate this method when I have to block first. If I block the square and then attach I'm assuming that the blocked squares will be a guide so when I'm doing the joining stitches it will stay even all the way around. Or would I block the entire work once I'm done? Thank you! Again, I love all your videos.
❤thank you for your easy to follow tutorial! I am wondering if I can join my squares as I make them, or would it be best to complete them all then join?
You're welcome! It's entirely up to you when you going them, there is no right or wrong answer 😊 I would say that the advantage of joining them as you make them is that you can see more accurately how big your project is getting.
Thank you for video. Does it matter if you go over or under when connecting the squares? I've started a project and have gone under. Not sure if I should change it now.
Hi, thanks for the great tutorial. At 1:28 you can see that you started the cream round on the green square at the corner with 3 chains ... what do you do when you arrive at that corner, how do you add the trebles? Also: I would like to join all my rows first and then join the rows at the end, would you recommend this? Thanks!
Do you make an entire row first, then start adding new squares? i love how your videos are very clear, and that by using light colors it's easy to see what you are doing!
Thanks for making it seem so simple. I love your videos and have learnt most of my crochet through them. One Q though: what do you do if you've done only two chains in the corner (instead of three as shown here)?
You're very welcome, I'm glad you find my videos helpful 😊 It doesn't make a difference if you only have two chains in the corner, just work in exactly the same way as shown in the video.
My question is how do you start the border with the first square? When I try to start double crochet doesnt work? How many doubles do you do in the space? Thanks its a fun blanket to make. Love your videos
Thank you so much for this video. I’m making a table runner for my daughter in law using sunflower squares. There are no chain 1 between the side clusters, so wondering how I would join those. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You're welcome 😊 Even though you don't have a chain one there should still be a gap in between the clusters that you can pop your hook through, so I would work into those spaces.
You’re welcome 😊 When joining squares it can be helpful to join in rows; so work your way along one full row and then begin joining the next row underneath.
I belong to a knitting/crochet hook and donate all our work. someone always joins my squares the lady who does is is 90 years old but when I saw your video I think I will try and do some myself. We make laps with 20 squares for wheel chairs so I sometimes make 2 a week.. I will be able to at least put one together myself.
You mentioned in this video that you personally like to crochet your squares together in strips, but the video shows two. I also WANT to do mine in strips, but I'm too stupid to figure out how lol. Do you have a video for this?
hi! I'm aware i'm 8 years late on this video. It was linked to me when I asked a question regarding joining granny squares as I go on reddit! Very useful video, thank you so much! However, i'm doing solid granny squares, rather than the traditional ones in this video. And I was wondering if I could use this same method, but instead of joining it in the granny square style, if I could do so in SC? Another quick question. I'm doing the border of my blanket first. Would it screw me over to, rather than join in rounds, back and forth like you did, to join consecutively around a border, and attach each granny square inside once the border is done? thank you!!!
You’re welcome! 😊 Yes, you can join your squares in the same way - you just need to slip stitch into the square you’re joining to as you work your stitches. These can be granny stitch or just single crochet stitches if you prefer. There is also a similar method where you work your stitch and then remove your hook, pop it through the corresponding stitch on the joining square, and pull the loop through before continuing. I’m not sure I fully understand your second question but I would always recommend working your squares first and your border second 😊
@@bellacococrochet Thanks sm! I'm making a blanket where I have a design in the middle, and a border of yellow squares around said design. I shoulda clarified that haha! But it's ok! I had my question on that answered. If I joined only my outer border of squares, i'd be screwing myself over if there was any size difference in the inner squares. Anywho, thanks for the super helpful video and reply!
Hello Bella this Bonnie have a question when you come to the end of the crochet how do you keep it from having a big gap after you join another new crochet. Please explain this to me.
If you pull your yarn tight enough you should find that it closes the gap - when you sew in your ends you can also use this as an opportunity to sew any gaps up 😊
