9:38 I don't think the show will launch with the game, because of timing. The Fallout TV show started filming in July 5, 2022. Its first episode aired April 10, 2024. Games have been taking much longer to develop and produce. Perhaps the good news is, after Veilguard BioWare said they will be entering into production of Mass Effect, which suggests the development is done, so we can expect it sooner. As for my thoughts as to what I want from the next Mass Effect? I like Andromeda. So I have nothing to add. If Andromeda was released today, I would say it would be above average compared to games that are being released today.
Remember folks… an adaptation doesn’t mean it’s canon. LOTR, Resident evil, game of thrones, dune, the expanse, the list goes on. None of those are canon to their source material. Keep that in mind and you’ll be far more likely to enjoy whatever they come out with. As long as it’s good anyway. If it’s shit it’s shit cough* rings of power cough*

Don't want them to retread the ME trilogy story arch. Every ME fans knows it already. Fallout TV series didn't retread the same story. It added it and expanded it while staying true to lore. How about 'First contact'? It's a better introduction without upsetting peoples' choices.

I would prefer a male Shepard myself and also throw in Sam Heughan in the mix for casting. He's a solid lead but has yet to break into stardom. He's massive and charismatic enough to be believable as a soldier and someone who can pull a disparate team of individuals together. My big ask regardless if they choose a male or female protagonist is to make them pan, to reflect how in the game you can romance _anybody_ 😄
Mass effect is one of my favorite video games of all time. And it honestly breaks my heart that its being made today. The way gaming and cinema is going I have very little hope that this show won't be the typical trash they keep trying to feed me recently.
Uh as much as I hate to burst your bubble even though they are doing it with live action to be able to bring the aliens like garrus , liara, wrex and tali and the rest of the aliens depending if their series goes through all four game which would require at the very least four seasons if not more but as I said to make the aliens characters they would need CGI which is expensive so I wouldn't expect for the TV series to be free on prime or if it is prime will include it but add the cost to the subscription price so just be prepared for that
The mass effect series within my mind, is always going to better than anything they make. But, I love the series, so anything Mass effect is good. I hope they keep the lease flare, and cool world.
If they go with the game story and following Shepherd I will be worried as it could upset a lot of people, even if they don't push any agenda's, as Mass Effect is a multiple choice game and so it will make some people's playthroughs feel pointless to play, especially when they go to replay the games as they might not be considered canon anymore. Instead, I would like them to do an original story, either a story that goes along at the same time as the games or perhaps exploring the first contact war between Humanity and the Turians, now yes this would likely not involve characters we know and love but I think it could be a good step for new viewers to step into the universe while also showing fans of the franchise what happened in the war and we could end up meeting characters we've either met or heard of such as Alec Ryder who I believe was part of the first team who went through the Sol Mass Effect Relay and I think played a big role in the First contact war, there's also Ashley's father/Grandfather (can't remember which) who of course was the man behind the only outpost, or something like that, to surrender to the Turians. But regardless, I'm glad Mass Effect is getting some love and with the people behind it, it should be a good thing. But as I said, I'd like them to go down the Fallout route and doing an original story, instead of retelling the story we already know and make some of our choices pointless.
Sorry about Henry Cavill is not the guy to play Commander Shepard he was perfect for Gerelt of rivia but they are too different. Shapard isnt a very handsome guy hes rough around the edges but has impressive leadership and charisma. I see two possibilities. They make a banger respecting the source material, or they do what everyone does right now and they create another Dragon Age Queerguard, Rings of Crap or "Insert failed woke attempt" here. I sincerely do hope they just do like Last of Us and try to be as loyal as possible to the source material, or just go down like Halo or any of those crap adaptations. If is good, hell yeah. If its another cashgrab killing the franchise, i'd rather they don't touch it.

The smart money is to make a story in the universe but not touch plot of the mainline games and lightly mention the main cast. There is simply too many player choices to start making canon decisions with a TV show that will likely not adapt well enough to garner acclaim with the fan base. The dumb money would start deciding canon while watering down the story to appeal to the widest audience imaginable, which is where I would place my bet. Something akin to Andromeda is likely to be the safest, and likely most profitable direction to go (Just have better writers). Normies will consume anything that you throw in front of them, where as legacy fans can very quickly turn the discourse around your show into an absolute nightmare if you touch sacred cow details about the IP. Do what Fallout did, not what Rings of Power did. New, original story, set in the Mass Effect IP. Respect the lore, mostly, and don't touch any of the pre existing stories or characters any more than is absolutely necessary. The legacy fan base will either have a "meh" opinion of the show or will be free advertising as they drag their normie friends in to watch it. Mess with lore and pre existing narratives/choices, and you will turn the legacy fan base into a toxic war zone that will turn normies off out of shear risk avoidance.
Here's hoping that if/when this show is released that it doesn't end up going the same way as the Halo series! I would comment more but my face is tired 🥱
Funny... Mass Effect is one of the few settings were this whole ESG agenda isn't a big deal... Andromeda itself has a trans character, although completely out of place in that galaxy i suspect that there's plenty trans folks in places like Omega and even at the Citadel, all we need is that this type of character make sense in this sort of setting, thats the real problem with these woke folks, the characters they create are completely idiotic and make no sense at all. No one has a problem with trans individuals, but we do have a problem when all this bs is forced ("i'm non binary qunari" Bioware? ). One decent example is Claire in Cyberpunk... She is trans but you only know that if you actually let herself to open to V, and even then the hint is very subtle... Also, Claire isn't a badass mercenary or anything like that, she is just a bartender.
@@efxnews4776 well you're right omega was a mess but in a good way my fear is for them to get away from the essence by trying to go woke. As for a collective species perspective, the concept of gender for Asari should be completely alien since they are a MONOGENDER species.
If it is femshep, it is likely doomed. If it is male shep ... and he isn't black ... then this show has a chance. If I were in charge I would have Shepard in the background, doing the ME1 plot, while the TV show shows the world everywhere Shepard isn't.
Why is femshep or black male shep doomed? It doesn't break the lore. Surely you just pick the best actor for the job considering that Shep's ethnicity is ambiguous.
@@tylersheehan-ford4047 Cause people right now are more and more annoyed with DEI. If they see femshep they will instantly smell the wokeness incoming, Liara being a they/them and perhaps Garrus being trans ... or worse. No, a blackshep or femshep are not inherently woke or bad at all, but after Wokeguard Bioware has no trust from most who dislike the DEI nonsense.
Unpopular opinion: I hope it doesn't just tell the story of the games. Firstly, Shepard him/herself is going to be a problem - a character that can be any gender, any ethnicity, any class, any sexuality, etc, they'll need to make a choice, and whatever choice they make is going to be unpopular to some people. I don't particularly want to see a they/them lesbian Shepard, and I'm sure others don't want a straight white male Shepard, so either way they're going to annoy someone. Secondly, we have that story already, why do we need it told again?
Considering these times, I doubt this is good news. Furthermore, it is extremely difficult to do justice to something so vast, which has different visions for different people.
I"m extremely concerned about this series. I think it's a kneejerk reaction and a desperate attempt to scrape together revenue for a dying studio. I'm worried they're going to forfeit the soul of the ME series for the sake of that sweet sweet licensing paycheque. I don't think they'll get Henry Cavil, he was already named to be in the series and seems to have stepped back from it - which is a shame because at least he'd have fought for respecting the source material. As it stands I have zero faith in BioWare/EA to make it good, or even police the decisions Amazon make about retconning or changes to the lore. I would pretty much assume they will change it at will with no care for the OG player base. BioWare have made it abundantly clear recently that their original customers are less than nothing to them. I MIGHT watch it out of curiosity if they do a prequel to the original games... something like the First Contact wars. Something where Shepard is not the star. OR I could also tolerate them doing a post ME:Andromeda series, where the missing DLC are covered, though that might be too niche for a mainstream series that is trying to draw in as much revenue as possible. I dunno... I'm just about ready to pretend BioWare and its associated games and media don't exist. I'm just so gut wrenchingly disappointed with them after Andromeda... they aren't even trying to produce mature, gritty, high quality products anymore.
as shit as it would be for them to flop it i think itd be worse if it its really good but doesnt get a second season. "but why wouldnt it get a second season?" who knows there have been great TV shows in the past that didnt, show runners want to move on and do something different, studio decides they want something different in their library, all sorts of personal/business shit unaffected by the success of the show. just look at The Get Down. beloved by many hip hop fans with a great creator (same person who did the great gatsby) high score on rotten tomatoes but just got dropped. i'd also say 15ep for 1st season 10 seems too lil even at 1hr each
Episode count is not going to be anywhere near 10 episodes. This is going to be expensive with sets, cgi and your cast is not realistic in cost either.
Mixed feelings about all of this, but first contact with Turians seems cool and femine Shepard i dont mind if only without stupid Agenda 'message' vibes
So firstly we don't know if this is gonna be an adaption, or just a show set in the ME universe like the Amazon fallout show. That said, IF the show is an adaptation, I think 100% it SHOULD be fem shep. I think this is one of the prime examples of where a studio COULD make a female lead for a show, without it feeling like they are making it female for the sake of it. Plus, I think fem shep is just a bit more interesting, instead of it being yet another sci-fi show with a male lead actor.
Nope, people who didn't main femshep won't be happy, it's best to not have Shep at all, like first contact war with Saren, Illusive man, Anderson, Kahlee, etc..
@@v5k456jh3 I mean, I think it's more likely they are doing a straight adaptation tbh. But onto your point about male shep, I'd argue that there's actually a love more love for fem shep than male shep nowadays. Also, I think one of the problems a show may face is, like you said, making people not happen, most notably with potential choices and romances. So, I think if they did fem shep, at least that would be different to what probably a majority of people experienced, and they can basically use it to set the stage that the show is it's own choices, and isn't going to invalidate anyone's cannon for the choices they made when they played the trilogy.

don't get excited, they'll manage to ruin it too
They still absolutely butcher Miranda, I just know it.
i love miranda her australian acent was sexy
If they adapt it and produce it to the level of The Expanse , then it will be huge. That show was phenomenal.
The most played Sheppard option by far is MShep. I love FemShep but the face of the franchise, is trully the male version. You can also expect no matter what a barrage of hate if they chose the female version, regardless if it is good or not
do not make it woke or fem bs most guys that played mass effect with fem shepard did it because we love woman not so we can have fem/woke culture forced on us in games we love...
@@bfedezl2018 if the most played is female shep, why would there be outrage if they did a female Shepard? Where's your logic?
Anyways, no one is against female characters anyways, its when they betray and sabotage their characters for an agenda, like they did with the Tomb Raider show.
@@Razumen They said the most played was "MShep" as in Male Shepard, so their logic isn't unsound. However, I think this would be a perfect opportunity to have a female lead show that doesn't mess with the lore in a way that would piss off the fans because FemShep is just as valid as Male Shep. Those who do throw a fit over that would just be petty.
@@jamesmcdonald9313 Ah, I misread it, but yeah, I still don't think most people would care that much if that was all it was. But I doubt it will be.
@@jamesmcdonald9313 You also know that the series has to capture the attention of the general audience? Let’s be honest and looking at the track record of past series with a lot of heavy handed choices in regards to representation has left a very hostile environment for any new series.
If they chose MShep most won’t complain at all. If they chose FemShep you can bet that there will be a very loud and sadly influential crowd shitting on it from the get go.
Fingers and toes crossed that it's good and doesn't make me want to puke. Good report.
Cavil is unlikely since the Amazon 40k show is gonna be his main focus for a long time especially since he's in charge of it
Given he was in talks the first time around and went very silent on it, I'd say it's a safe bet he's noped out long before this announcement was made anyway.
They should start from the time when they find prothean data on Mars for the first time and how they find mass relays and intergalactic travelling, meeting aliens, first contact war etc....atleast for first season...
Also i want MaleShep,if they go for Shepard's story...Cast whoever they want, but should make it Male....
IMO the main guy from the movie Avatar 2009,can be a good pick for Commander Shepard...
I don't care about big names, i want epic writting and acting!
IT will fail like the Witcher, star wars, rings, Dragon age, and any other that are decidedly pushing "the message" in our faces THEN FU
The Witcher show was great
My choices for Commander Shepard are 1# Henry Cavil - 2# Scott Adkins
Don't want them to retread the ME trilogy story arch. Every ME fans knows it already.
Fallout TV series didn't retread the same story. It added it and expanded it while staying true to lore.
How about 'First contact'? It's a better introduction without upsetting peoples' choices.
If they do fem shep I ain't watching. They have always put male shep on all the promotions and he is the most played.
Male Sheppard is just the more iconic of the two and the most played by far. But you know, Holywoke
@@bfedezl2018 I agree with him being more iconic. He has a distinct look unlike female shep. She looks sorta plain.
Welp, another beloved franchise gonna be trashed by wokazon and this happens to be close to my favorite franchise/universe.
Hey, Trumper, please define "woke" for me. Nobody seems to be able to.
I wait for your lack of response with anticipation....
@@remy090Overzealous focus on "inclusivity" - token characters. Lackluster story from writers who have little talent but are from diverse backgrounds. They should do David Anderson’s backstory
Didn’t we already get that from the Citadel DLC?
@@axelnilsson5124there’s more cool history in the books
BioWare is involved temper your expectations.
We haven’t seen what BioWare is going to do to the Mass Effect universe with ME5.
If Veilguard is any indication, then the show and game will flop.
Uh as much as I hate to burst your bubble even though they are doing it with live action to be able to bring the aliens like garrus , liara, wrex and tali and the rest of the aliens depending if their series goes through all four game which would require at the very least four seasons if not more but as I said to make the aliens characters they would need CGI which is expensive so I wouldn't expect for the TV series to be free on prime or if it is prime will include it but add the cost to the subscription price so just be prepared for that
Imagine they release 2 versions of the show, done with male shep and one with femshep
I dont trust Amazon, im waiting for reviews first when it comes out before watching cause what Amazon did to Rings of Power was just so bad imo
The mass effect series within my mind, is always going to better than anything they make. But, I love the series, so anything Mass effect is good. I hope they keep the lease flare, and cool world.
if will not be hanry then will be Pablo Schreiber i love both !
Yeah hopefully they don't mess it up
I don’t hope they do the shephard story, would rather see a new story in the me universe, N7 recruits, traveling the planets with a new threat etc
Sorry about Henry Cavill is not the guy to play Commander Shepard he was perfect for Gerelt of rivia but they are too different. Shapard isnt a very handsome guy hes rough around the edges but has impressive leadership and charisma. I think Chris Evans would be a really good pick actually not only for his acting style but also he looks a lot like the standard Commander Shepard
Wah wah wah people who don't look like me bad, we get it. Do you lot never get bored.
Please define woke. Only right wing nutters use that word, but none of them are able to define it.
@@SwingAndAMiss21Everyone is sick to death of the woke crap being shovelled down the throat at every opportunity. We just want good stories, characters and experiences. It's NOTHING to with "people that don't look like me"
It's funny that the people of this ideology have no real point or arguement in their defense..just resort to childish insults or cry isms at every opportunity. Grow up.
i agree but last of us had a lot of things that was not inline with the game after 2 episodes i gave up all hope of it being as good as the game
@@remy090actually your presidential choice candidate used that word specifically....it's on YT. You were saying?
We dont want Henry Cavill. Not every freaking show has to have Henry Cavill. He played in too many already. Let someone else have a chance!
They are going to hire Cynthia Erivo to play Liara and just paint her face blue this time 😂😂
Emely Blunt as femshep could be fun
I noticed you didn’t mention the Witcher TV series.
I did briefly
@@stillsolo I guess I missed it.
Here's hoping that if/when this show is released that it doesn't end up going the same way as the Halo series! I would comment more but my face is tired 🥱
Get ready for disappointment boys and girls, The MESSAGE leaves no franchise untouched.
pleease noooooooo
@@efxnews4776 They're already starting with the Asari
@@efxnews4776 well you're right omega was a mess but in a good way my fear is for them to get away from the essence by trying to go woke. Shepard and the whole crew had personality and we didn't really care about those personalities because every character was well written but imagine they make this game and One of your squad constantly btching about my gender is this is that, call me this call me that 🤮🤮. I always play these games with a female character (even souls/elden ring) because it looks baddass but man hope they dont screw this one up
@@Razumen if properly done, i say why not? As an species Asari are known to blend well with other species because they are very emphatic (and telepathic), if this whole "non-binary" thing is just a cultural trait that Asari got from human interaction, fine, i still think Asari are better than this, but they also are know for shaking and twerking their ass in certain places for mature audiences.
As for a collective species perspective, the concept of gender for Asari should be completely alien since they are a MONOGENDER species.
Better be on cable
If it is femshep, it is likely doomed. If it is male shep ... and he isn't black ... then this show has a chance.
If I were in charge I would have Shepard in the background, doing the ME1 plot, while the TV show shows the world everywhere Shepard isn't.
Why is femshep or black male shep doomed? It doesn't break the lore. Surely you just pick the best actor for the job considering that Shep's ethnicity is ambiguous.
@@tylersheehan-ford4047 Cause people right now are more and more annoyed with DEI. If they see femshep they will instantly smell the wokeness incoming, Liara being a they/them and perhaps Garrus being trans ... or worse. If it is simply the shepard we know from the box of ME1 then that is a clear sign for "we stick to what works".
"Talent" LOL xD
We need more vega
Dwayne Johnson would be the most fitting as they basically have the same build
Female Shepard is the original design.
I don't even want this made.....we all know what its going to be.
Then just don’t watch it it can’t be simpler than that
Need 20- 30 episodes minimum. They need to do a good job. Not just chop up the story and give tiny tide bits.
Considering these times, I doubt this is good news. Furthermore, it is extremely difficult to do justice to something so vast, which has different visions for different people.
Dont care. They gonna fuck it up anyway.
not sure what to think about these new shows coming up, given the recently flop of big IPs like LOTR
For me the mack or brake for me will be seth green put him back in the pilot set of the normandy all well be good if not then o dear
Avoid the Cavill curse at all cost.
maybe
as shit as it would be for them to flop it i think itd be worse if it its really good but doesnt get a second season. "but why wouldnt it get a second season?" who knows there have been great TV shows in the past that didnt, show runners want to move on and do something different, studio decides they want something different in their library, all sorts of personal/business shit unaffected by the success of the show. just look at The Get Down. beloved by many hip hop fans with a great creator (same person who did the great gatsby) high score on rotten tomatoes but just got dropped.
i'd also say 15ep for 1st season 10 seems too lil even at 1hr each
This show is about to break new records... in being trash
I hope not
Episode count is not going to be anywhere near 10 episodes. This is going to be expensive with sets, cgi and your cast is not realistic in cost either.
Mixed feelings about all of this, but first contact with Turians seems cool and femine Shepard i dont mind if only without stupid Agenda 'message' vibes
Halo is also very epic!😉
Amazon is going to trash it. You know it. Amazon is already attempting to trash Warhammer.
Yeah it's worrying
Please, do not retell the games, make an original story, the lore is deeper than just the games
At this point I’m going to assume it’s just going to be garbage. It will be filled with incredibly competent women and idiotic men.
It going to mass woke

Hopefully, the series does not become infected with woke ideology.
To do it properly, they'll have to use extensive CGI, 😢
After the DA: The veilguard I guess the series will be a big fat woke agenda with a poor story telling...hope not but I don`t have any hope for that.
Why are people selling their stuff to Amazon to be destroyed? Amazon is the worst company ever for movies and TV. Not one show they make is worth watching not one.

It's not perfect but i really liked it
It's not perfect, and I would call it great, but it's good, verging on very good. I mean, I was so fucking impressed with all the practical effects, let alone some of the story points. The main thing I wasn't really keen on was the romance between Lucy and Maximus.
