Not sure if this will help anyone but this is how my family has always kept a fire going overnight or even when it’s raining. Dig a hole about 6 inches deep and about a foot around. Then we would take a thick log it doesn’t have to be long just big around. Lay it down over the the hole and in the center of the log get a small fire going on top of it or set some good red coals on it. Don’t set the log on fire just get it burning to get some coals going on it. Let it go for like a good hour or so. Roll the log over and put a few sticks and or logs around it. It will keep burning for many hours even overnight. It will even keep burning when it’s raining.

Ever since Hurricane Sandy, I've always been on the fence about cooking outside if at ALL. We went 12 days w/o power I had to cook nearly everything from my deep freezer. Many people smelled frying chicken etc, and one neighbor even came to ask how and tried invite her family over to eat. We barely said hello to those folks. All their stuff was electric, we have an old fashion gas stove you light w a match. Im thinking eating more raw to get used to it. After all cook food draws folks just like heat.

I've been telling people this for the last 8 years.
I have a garden.. grow as much vegetables as I can add. I would love to have live stock.. I just can't convince my husband that this time in life is getting serious. He finally agreed to plant fruit trees.. He knows what's going on in the world. I believe he is in denial, cause all he's focused on is his classic trucks and boat. We love fishing. But its not good to eat everyday in my opinion. Having all that said.. You guys are amazing!!
Love every minute of watching and learning. Keep it up please. Cause I need you guys in the rest of my life. It has been hard running survival living by my self. But at least I have God and you two to get me through. Much Love and sending my prayers that God continue to bless you all. 💜

you're right it's hard to start a fire. I was about 12 years old, I woke up my mom had already went to work my brothers where gone and the fire had went out in the wood heater , so I had to start the fire for the first time . I tried everything Mama's rubbing alcohol, I even used old cooking grease, that started the fire. But it wasn't hot enough so I decide to get a arm load of fatt ladder wood to put in the heater, the heater turn red hot, the pipe turn red hot and it was heading to the wall, I got scared and threw water on it, went back and jump in the bed. At that time I knew I could survive most situations I just need someone to teach me the right way. I thank God I have five brothers that taught me a little something about everything.

Lead I have 40 acres of pine trees. I use the pine cones and dip them in old candle wax . They make excellent fire starters, the best I have ever used. Of course it doesn't help if your wood is wet. I put the pinecones in a trash bag seal it up and store in garage. they can be crushed for smaller area to take with you.

You can make a rocket stove by acquiring a piece of log 6 to 8" diameter. Drill a hole in one end 1" diameter about 6" down and then in the side until it meets the vertical hole. Start the fire at the bottom of the vertical hole. Use cotton balls in Vaseline. Then log will, burnfrom inside out.. Use it to cook and thf en for warmth.

Easiest way I ever found to fry chicken is to roll it in mayo or something of that sort, then roll it in crushed corn flakes as a crispy coating.

Ohhhhh man I LOVE me some Lead! I agree, he is the GOAT. I learn something new every time I watch him and he never fails to make me belly laugh. He's good medicine for my soul. Thanks Lead for showing me how to use the rocket stove. Now I know I don't have to buy the most expensive one. After getting my counselling on picking a mate from this video, I need to add "Reverend Lead" to his title.

Just a thought...in a real bug-out situation, people need to THINK about wild animals that were once in the zoo, especially if you live near one. Those animals are going to have most of the same NEEDS as humans...shelter, food and water. We humans will be on their menu. So have the right kind of ammo and enough if it.

Thank you for doing this awesome video. I am so grateful for you guys, your passion and all you do for us out here! I am learning so much! In fact, everytime I order/purchase what we need to prepare, by watching your videos it brings peace and should my ends be a little low, my peace and a since of security is restored when able to purchase the essentials needed to survive. All praises to the Most High for using you and your wife as a vessel to teach and guide us in the event of an emergency.
Peace, blessings, and prosperity always to your family. 🙏🏾😊

Start a fire in the rain ? I was a 30+ year old single mom who took her twins on 10 day camping trips every summer for 8 years when we lived in Rainville, Wa. I can build an outdoor fire in any kind weather, cold, wind or rain. We outdoor-happy Moms can do what any Navy Seal can do. Don't ever underestimate the power of a natural determined Mom.

I am. Big fan of my Biolite base camp which also produces power. Its realtively smoke free and comes with its own fan as it gets hot enough. I liked it so much, I bought the trail version biolite camp stove 2 with the grill and the kettle.

Hi Mr. Lead. U cooking outdoors reminds me of when i was in a survival program called 'Urban Pioneers'. We had to learn how to survive in the wilderness with our peers and counselors in Los Padres. With only our carefully sorted out meals for each day. Everyone in the patrol had 3-4 meals each tightly and carefully pack in our backpacks for different days for everyone to eat. Like 1i had breakfast for Day 1, lunch for Day 6, dinner for day 10. Someone else had lunch for Day 2, breakfast for Day 4, and so forth. We would always start a fire by digging a hole in the earth and starting a fire with nearby twigs and wood with a lighter and a firestarter brick. Using just a pinch of a firestarter brick will continue to stay on fire when it's windy and cold out even when we had to start a fire on top the mountain where it was snow up there. Cooking outdoors is different but fun. My favorites i liked to cook for the patrols was well seasoned pasta or cooked crushed ramen noodles on cold nights. Thank u for always sharing, peace nd thank u
