I really don’t know how being able to wield mjolnir in ark is not on here. You have to beat every boss in the hardest difficulty on 6 maps and find all explorer notes and max out a chibi. Easily takes over 1000 hours to complete
@@nomercy8989 Ark is a blast on private servers where you can set reasonable settings and don't have to worry about "alpha" (neet) tribes and griefers. The building system is garbage, but other than that it's a good time all around.
Sitting personally at 982 hours on binding of Isaac. I can say I still haven't unlocked everything. I have finished all the regular characters and am almost through all the tainted characters. I love the game. And the mechanics will always keep me coming back. I play on Xbox and everything was earned with 0 mods and at this point lots of skill. Thanks for the shout-out to the community!
First time I comprehensively put 100+ hours into a game I was maybe 17 or so and Final Fantasy 15 had just come out, it took me about a month but I played it viciously, ill never forget the 9 hours i sat there and fought a giant mountain tortoise; was at maybe 134 hours when I finally beat adamantoise and got the platinum, core memory for me honestly.
My favorite was Adulthood. Took me 13 years to unlock. Edit: Seems people don’t get the joke. Or realize that I’m referring to how in some cultures, you’re considered an adult at 13
The mention of the Lu Shang quest was such a blast from the past! I spent untold hours just fishing in San D'Oria and just chatting with LS mates while doing it. Good times. Fishing was such a rewarding experience in that game. Fishing had you going to almost every nook and cranny the game had to offer, just to find some of the most elusive catches. The Lu Shang (and later Ebisu) was your trusted tool through it all.
I'm impressed that Gameranx knew/researched about FFXI Lu Shang, but what would've been more impressive if they knew/researched about FFXI relic weapons prior to level cap increase from level 75 (the max level was 75 for many years). It took around 3 years, more or less, JUST to get ONE relic weapon in a legit farming method (by legit I mean doing Dynamis twice a week, for every single week, for 3 or more years, on single character).
Note: For Crash 4's N. Sanely Perfect Relic you DON'T need to collect the hidden gems. Just break all the crates and don't die. I mean it's still a hellish nightmare, but it's one less thing to worry about lol
It would be fine if there weren't some control inconsistencies and a few glitches that while unoticable in normal gameplay REALLY fucks you over when going for the N Sane relics

The N. sanely Perfect Relics were a bitch but...the reward is satisfying. I'm in the small minority who Plat'd it twice (Ps4 and 5). Aside from the Time Trials, It was alot of fun and tbh I would do it all again. Love that game😍
Same in this. I love to trophy hunt on games I really enjoy. Monster hunter world was my first full monster hunter game, but crown hunting was not worth the tons of extra hours.
But that one can be cheated by going offline and changing the date. Which if we're being honest here, that's probably the real way to unlock it and waiting 10 years is the cheating xD
But you don't play it over that time. All you have to do is remember to pop back in for it a decade later. Steam's "last played" stat is hugely helpful for this.
I played final fantasy 11 for a decade... I'm pretty sure I had the Lu Shang rod, I'm also pretty sure I bought just about most of the fish instead of wasting time fishing it lol. And fishing in that game wasn't useless, there were quite a few things you could fish that sold for quite a bit of Gil...
I played for about 5 years (on the ps2 release) and was actively working towards the rod. I think I was at 6300 carp when I stopped playing. And these were all caught by me because I never had the kind of money to throw at that quest.
Lu Shang wasn't even the worst part, Ebisu Rod after that, with an insane RNG added in, took soooo much longer. You had to use the Lu Shang to get the fish you needed, AND those fish would break the Lu Shang so you had to level woodworking, or go get it repaired. Then after that... you can +1 both rods.

I'm so excited you included Final Fantasy XI! I managed to turn in a couple hundred fish for that fishing rod, but gave up. My husband got them all though and so I will live vicariously through his achievement. 😎
@gameranx 8:07 Falcon you just don't understand... back when FFXI was "The Final Fantasy MMO" (before 14) this rod was almost almost "must have" in order to make big money. One of the biggest money makers back in the day was making sushi. In order to make the highest quality sushi, you HAD to catch Black Sole. The only rod that could catch it back then WAS this rod. And even then, there was a very, VERY small chance they could BREAK this rod. In which case you had to buy an extremely expensive item just to get it repaired. IF you had cooking leveled up to make the sushi, then you basically had it made and could rake in MILLIONS of gil a day just crafting sushi. But if you didn't, you either had to buy the fish (which was costly) or catch them and sell them (which earned you less gil than making the sushi). And don't forget, you don't "just" catch a certain type of fish with a certain type of bait. It's a spread. You're not garunteed to catch a certain amount. And back in the day when I played this game, there was a cap on how many fish you could catch before the game locked you out of catching anything (to prevent fishing bots). Then you HAD to wait for the daily reset. So even catching the carp to complete this quest? You were capped. You MIGHT catch (when I played) between 50-90 carp a day before you get capped if you're lucky. And that's over a span of 8 hours of straight fishing.
Can confirm the League of Legends one, I think I'd been playing for 4 years before I unlocked all characters and that was back when it was IP instead of BE to purchase a champion. Personally I feel like it takes even longer now depending on your luck while leveling up an account, since you can get them cheaper IF you get their champion shard, but you no longer receive a little currency after each game. Also unlocking the secret boss "Nemesis" in Final Fantasy X was a slog and a half to unlock, not sure about time required but man, Capture at least ten of every fiend and defeat all Area Conquest, Species Conquest, and Original Creation bosses. (unsure if this took 100 hours or more, but I have well over 300 hours in the game so it could be that long) Obligatory: "HA HA HA HA HA HA HA" - Tidus
It was even worse though when you had to buy Rune pages and runes to even be competitive. This made it even longer because you had to get those and have multiple games for different champs. No changing them in champ select like now
@@greenbarkingfrog3138 Man I remember feeling so much pride when I finally got every rune back in the day, then 4 months later they announce they're scrapping the system and making IP into BE, was so bummed until I found out you could get Urfwick for the new BE... then realising I'd gotten a discount version ruined my day again, now all we have left of the old runes is that stupid ward skin and I'm not about to replace my chicken in a pizza ward to show of I spent 125K IP on runes (or bought 1 or more limited quintessences)
Happy to see a Shiny Charm moment get a spot on the list. It's the exact reason why, until Sword and Shield, I honestly never made an attempt to get it. It was too hard, would take too long, and I couldn't transfer from past games. Shield and Legends are the only games where I completed the Pokedex. (sword got left out because I consider Shield as my main file, and Sword I just use for challenges and getting the version exclusives to Home transfer over to Shield)
The Binding of Isaac is the only game that I have played for so long that I don't feel proud anymore of how many hours I've been playing it... But someday I'll complete it to 100%
I actually unlocked all of the champions in the league after 4 years of playing. That's why I become a multi-role player and I already used all of them.
There is an achievement in diablo 2 for reaching level 99 and its gonna take me well over 100 hours to get to , if I ever get to 99. I've currently got my hardcore character to 94 so maybe someday next year I'll grab that 99 achievement and get platinum.
100 hours is being too generous, honestly. I've seen someone do the math. 98-99 alone, assuming 1 Baal run every 3 minutes, will take over 100 hours. The journey from 94-98 is nearly as long. Apparently that's like, 10,000+ Baal runs.

There's actually something in Binding of Isaac that's even harder then that. Imagine getting absolutely everything in that game and deciding "I want to do this at least 2 more times". That's what getting 3,000,000 is in binding of Isaac and repentance just added it so you have to even more on top of that it's insane
Red dead redemption 1 and 2 the outfits you get for 100% doing all the challenges in the story mode took me so long cause of the hearbalist challenges and predator challenges
rs3 is way longer cause so much shit is time gated in trim comp and every time they add update you have too do additional stuff too get that trim cape back
If you want all the god rolls weapons or armor or seals in destiny 2, put at least 500 hours in. I once ran a raid with a guy who dumped 1200hr in a single season… who has all the seals, ALL the seals unlocked….
it took me 3 years in between work and life to unlock all the characters in league and always have enough BE to get the newest character i started playing in 2009 its 2022 and league still runs strong, still have all champs and got them all for free i have all the champs and am sitting at around 20k BE for new ones

you missed an important issue with the Runescape cape... if they add new quests or skills to max level ect you can't wear your cape till you complete the new content.
Yeah I have the platinum trophy; took me around 500 hours, but realistically would’ve been 200 to 300, I was just playing the game for fun for a while before going for the trophy
I own every champ in league, most of them are bought from champion shards with blue essences which makes the champion cheaper. You get a box with champion shards everytime you level up wich include 2 or sometimes 3 champions (depending on the level). And it still took me around 2 years i think.
I love this, I love that you have choices in games, you either just play the game and enjoy it, or if the game really grabs you, it offers you so much more to enjoy! If you enjoy it, its not wasted time.
I'm surprised there's no mention of warfrsme. Ash, Harrow, necramechs, Amps, focus, any of them are grind fests. But if you really want to progress through the story and max out your character, you could spend thousands of hours on it.
I think I was just under 1000 when I stopped playing. Genuinely never had a point where there wasn't something to do. And the game was constantly fun. Might head back sometime in the future to see what's new.
Gran Turismo 4 was an absolute BRUTAL game to play because the steering in the games was an absolute NIGHTMARE compared to 1-3. As for Runescape, only thing going strong about that is the fact that 80%+ of the player base is actually bots.
Unlocking the True Master's Font in Warframe. Easily takes 200 hours or more. Building any Titan vessel in EVE Online. Purchasing the 890 Jump ship in Star Citizen with accumulated in-game currency.
i believe one of the most time consuming must be also from WoW: Baron Rivendare's mount. I've known people that tried for +2 years and had no luck getting it
Another time consuming unlock is the calling card from COD: Modern Warfare where you have to unlock the Obsidian camo for ALL the guns in the game. Now you first have to level the gun, then get it gold then you can try to unlock obsidian. For each gun it could take about 10-30 hours depending on the skill level and there's 50 guns. So about 500-1500 HOURS give or take
Gran Tursimo 4 is insane. You have a few endurance races that go literally 24 hours real time. If you complete all endurance races you already have more than 100 hours into the game and this is only a small part of the game O_o
@@filypefx Wow I didn't know that. Saw the 24h and thought nope 😂 But even with 3x, 8h is still too long I think. Longest race I did was in forza 7 it lasts 3,5h and after an hour or two I hated everything about it 😂
Good thing all of League's characters are included with Game Pass now, not that I play anymore, but still good to see a more accessible way for people to enjoy the game.
Old school runescape, 400+ hours to max some skills and 1000+ hours to max an account.. not to mention collection log that nobody has come close to completing yet
For non-speedrunners/first-timers, I'd say getting the golden SAVEFILE in "Celeste" (beat the game getting all strawberries, replay each level without dying, then play the whole DLC without dying, and find a couple of secrets) takes way longer than a 100 hours.
So I see runescape 3 is on here, but how is OldSchool Runescape not on here? It is more popular and some of the best items take thousands of hours to get. I think the average amount of time to get a max cape on a normal account is 1500-2000 hours. If you decided to go full neckbeard, playing the ultimate ironman mode to max is roughly a 7000 hour journey. Go look at some of the people on UA-cam who have done it such as Settled, they are insane.
Honestly anything that takes way too long to finish is not worth my time. Like for example: trying to get every single achievement & armor piece in the halo Master chief collection. I have no patience for that. Seriously by the time I get this legendary stuff(that took me 100 hours to unlock), I’ll be burned out with the game and I won’t be using it. At some point I want to play something else. lol 😆
Have to say I never waste a thought on achievements or unlocks. You either get stuff playing the game the way you do or you don't. Not going to alter my play, or play multiple runs differently just to get an unlock/achievement. But to each their own.
They should make it so that when you get a platinum trophy on PSN, it unlocks a special unique system theme for that game. That way there is some type of reward for getting every trophy/achievement. Same for Xbox, when you 100% a game it'd be cool getting a new wallpaper or something
the trimmed completionist cape used to have a requirement of playing 5000 castle wars games, with each game lasting 20 minutes. this was a real goddamn requirement that people actually did
Funny is that having all champions in LoL despite being very time consuming is not a rare thing. So many people (me included) having been playing this for so many years that having every champ ,even f2p, is just something that happens. Riot even has to create events so people spend their accumulated f2p currency, otherwise you'd have nothing to buy lol
As I recall, Earning full access to the Iksar city of Cabillis In Everquest involved factioning 5 semi conflicting factions which as a non Iksar took several hundreds of hours and over 10k bone chips. Granted I did quit playing for most of it but it took literal years from the point I started to the point I finally finished. All to earn the Greenmist which was treated like the Iksar Specific Epic shadowknight weapon. Like Epic 1.25. In basically 2001 that was absolute insanity.
What's also a speed bump for League is the Essence Emporium, a special store page that opens up twice a year, sells rare skin chromas and emotes and doesnt use Riot Points but Blue Essence...the stuff that is used to unlock champions for free.
For part 2, please add in "the Insane" title from World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King expansion. it's been made exponentially easier to obtain now, but back then, it took, well, an insane amount of time to obtain.
I was aware of these types of unlocks and it was for this reason that I really did wonder what the big deal was about it taking 40 hours to unlock Darth Vader in Battlefront 2. Don't get me wrong, I don't like EA, I didn't play BF2 and I don't give them money... but 40 hours to unlock a very cool character in an online multiplayer game did not seem problematic to me at all. Other elements sucked, but that particular issue that people freaked out about was a bit petty to me.
The problem was that right up until launch, everything in the game was obtainable from real-money lootboxes. Yeah, Vader might take 40 hours for a free player to unlock, but a whale could just spend $1-200 and get him almost immediately.
For me, getting the Astral Perfection badge in Astral Chain and fully completing all the orders as a result took me near 180 hours or so. It was mostly due to the rough post story challenge files that are locked into a graded difficulty like PT Standard or Ultimate, and just told you go wild. The later missions in chapter 12 are BRUTAL to even survive. They ask you to fight waves of multiple black chimeras at once, which are the toughest and most destructive chimeras outside of Aether the secret boss. In one mission, you had to fight TWO of them at once, along with 2-3 other chimeras at once, multiple times in a row. And the game locks you into the items it gives you for those missions. You're stuck with what they give you, and if you run out of med packs and don't rely on finishing chimeras to regain health, you're done for. Those boss chimeras will SHRED you for your entire health bar in one attack. Dark Souls bosses would be proud of the sheer destruction these guys sow. Outside of those post game missions, finding all collectibles and secrets can take a while too since some of them are super well hidden. Either way, Astral Chain is one of the most satisfying action combat games I've played, and it kept my attention to full completion. Not many games do that for me.
Getting a personal HQ in Egosoft's X3: Terran Conflict. To do it, you first have to complete the HUB storyline, which has requirements that quickly become so large that you need to build a galactic empire to pull it off. I vaguely remember that it takes people who haven't modded in cheats about 300 hours to do. I managed to take more like 500 hours to finish the HUB, then never did the relatively tiny quest to steal the HQ and set it up.
I have 1300 hours in New Horizons and my museum isn't done yet. But I don't time travel so it is a waiting game. Last two fish don't come back until September.
Back in leagues old days it was even harder to unlock all the champs because you didn't get shards to change for BE and you couldn't use the shards to get champs cheaper. It's so much easier to get them all now
A game that can be an honorable mention since you are MGS fans, Metal gear solid 4, buy the latest items in the store to have infinite ammo or camouflage, it was a tedious weapons farm to sell to Drebin
Summoners War free-to-play used to straight up be a year to two years to get your first Nat 5 star... It used to be so much worse in League of Legends because you also had to use your valuable resource that you bought Champions with to buy runes to have a chance at fighting against other players.
Actually, as a guy who played League for years before quitting in S5, it took about 1.5 years to unlock everything if you played 2 hours on average, every single day. Some days you can play more, some less. But the thing that matters is the average time played. If you're under that average time, it's going to take you over 2 years to unlock all the champs and at this point I think they should be given for free to everyone at least for ARAM at the minimum.
I used to play Gran Turismo, didn't even know the 1st Forza Motorsports game was a thing at the time. Got an Xbox 360 to play Halo and it came with Forza Motorsports 2 and have never went back.
Ive played the binding of Isaac for at least 5000 hours over the years , with every dlc coming out from wrath of the lamb to repentance , i even got a tattoo , and my first born sun’s name is Isaac , and i am proud to say that I have done every challenge and unlocked each and every item on the game .
Getting the Astrope Mount in Final Fantasy can take up to a year, as you need to do the Mentor Roulette where each run can go from 5 minutes to 60 Minutes per single run and you need 2000 runs
I appreciate the shout out, I have (almost) unlocked every champ in league for free (between 10-20 left), I'm glad I really stopped playing tho... On the other hand a friend of mine had actually unlocked every champ for free, he was a good adc main (around master) and just bought every champ because he could.
It will take approximately 41 years playing Gold difficulty matches in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer to earn enough credits legitimately to have a CHANCE of unlocking all characters, cosmetic upgrades, weapons, and upgrades. This does not factor in sleep, assumes perfect extraction bonuses for all 4 players, never failing, and does not include load times, or time spent navigating menus either. This is pure match playtime to earn enough credits for a chance to get all the items through the lootboxes which is the only way to unlock things. There is no option to buy what you want, you have to roll the dice on lootboxes. And yes, RNG makes it so that lootboxes, no matter the listed odds of getting something good, can give you effectively nothing. It doesn't matter if you open 20 lootboxes, and get 40 Cobra Missiles, you can only bring about 5 with you when you deploy. Getting more missiles does not mean you get to bring more missiles, so getting items like that, and nothing else is equivalent to getting nothing, especially when you get 14 of those in a row, and nothing else. The 41 years of playtime is based on about 20 minutes per match, and its Gold difficulty payout of around 90,000 credits. This also assumes you always get get at least 1 item from the lootboxes that removes something from the item pool as an unlock, rather than just getting a box of nothing but missiles, ammo packs, health packs, and revive packs. 41 years of match playtime is the minimum on Gold. You can probably trim off about 10 years if you play on Platinum, so 30+ years.
Number 1 was funny for me. I did it, but it was over several years. I genuinely enjoyed the game so I just played it a lot. I don't know if it's still in the game, but they added a system where you can get a random champion for like the half the price of the most expensive ones, so once you unlock everything cheaper than that you get the rest for half off. That was how I got most of them. I was surprised there was nothing from WoW. The Insane title took me years to get. That's probably not the longest one either.
As a league player... I spent over 1 year unlocking everyone... And that was when the roster was half of what it was... Mostly because runes and rune pages were a more important money sink back then.
I remember spending ages to get all champs in league etc. (playing it since season 1 - 2010) and to be fair, hearing that Gamepass owners get access to everything end of the year is quiet interesting and made me mad at first - basically negating all the grind if you pay for the pass. After doing some reading on it, they made the rules that you only have access while your pass is being paid for and they will appear with a lock icon (like free rotation champs) but still, know you can spend basically 1€ to get all champs from day one is pretty wild.
Had an old roommate who got hired by Riot. She decided to give the rest of us who lived together 5,000 Riot points because we all played League together. Only, she messed up somehow, and accidentally gave us all 500,000 Riot points each. Bought all the characters and a majority of the skins
The romulus thing in AC brotherhood. You found the underground thing in early stage but you will not be able to find every pieces of romulus until a certain point in the game which takes freaking hellish long time
you'll get the hang of Isaac over time. We use to think the Lost was hard in general but learned to exploit it and create builds through various items in the game. The Keeper then became much more difficult then the lost characters when it released. Honestly Home's boss isn't hard at all. The boss if you ignore Home however is extremely hard and you need to be pretty much perfect with which is actually pretty hard. They also made Delirium even worse by allowing certain attacks to actually hit you more without avoidance from items with Repentance which was already bad as he would often just teleport on you randomly and do damage. Something that never actually has been fixed and should of.
You forgot them thousands and thousands a hours in Destiny 1 and/or 2, going for a “GodRoll” on whatever Gun we all starting using at the exact same time(!); then raid, rinse, and repeat. Over and Over and…
Got all league champs after playing for 5 years without spending any money. Only spent money on skins and am happy that they introduced the loot system!
750 hours in Animal Crossing. It takes just twice that to get a full commercial pilot's license and a job as a pilot. What a magnificent waste of time. Kind of impressed.
Oh hey I used to have all the characters unlocked for league of legends by getting them all free and then I stopped playing. I personally found the unlocking of the characters one of my main driving points for playing the game as I enjoyed the collection aspect and earning them. The last character who was released when I stopped playing was Seraphine. As for my suggestion for another unlock that takes a long time would be Sea of Thieves Dark Adventurers set. For it you need to get to Pirate Legend which requires you to get three of the factions up to level 50 which gets really grindy around level 30 and then you need to level up your athena rank which is in itself really grindy and risk if players catch onto you doing Athena stuff. And then on top of all of that the set costs 79 million gold to unlock. The clothes by themselves is 11 million and the ship cosemetics come to 37.8 million.
In the crazy times we live in, at least I have Gameranx to keep me up and running, thanks for the daily content it means alot

It took around 3 years, more or less, JUST to get ONE relic weapon in a legit farming method (by legit I mean doing Dynamis twice a week, for every single week, for 3 or more years, on single character).
Note: For Crash 4's N. Sanely Perfect Relic you DON'T need to collect the hidden gems. Just break all the crates and don't die.
I mean it's still a hellish nightmare, but it's one less thing to worry about lol
It would be fine if there weren't some control inconsistencies and a few glitches that while unoticable in normal gameplay REALLY fucks you over when going for the N Sane relics

The N. sanely Perfect Relics were a bitch but...the reward is satisfying. I'm in the small minority who Plat'd it twice (Ps4 and 5). Aside from the Time Trials, It was alot of fun and tbh I would do it all again. Love that game😍

But you don't play it over that time. All you have to do is remember to pop back in for it a decade later. Steam's "last played" stat is hugely helpful for this.
I played final fantasy 11 for a decade... I'm pretty sure I had the Lu Shang rod, I'm also pretty sure I bought just about most of the fish instead of wasting time fishing it lol. And fishing in that game wasn't useless, there were quite a few things you could fish that sold for quite a bit of Gil...

I played for about 5 years (on the ps2 release) and was actively working towards the rod. I think I was at 6300 carp when I stopped playing. And these were all caught by me because I never had the kind of money to throw at that quest.

Lu Shang wasn't even the worst part, Ebisu Rod after that, with an insane RNG added in, took soooo much longer. You had to use the Lu Shang to get the fish you needed, AND those fish would break the Lu Shang so you had to level woodworking, or go get it repaired. Then after that... you can +1 both rods.
I can honestly say that I spend at LEAST 1000 hours playing GT4 back in the day.

@gameranx 8:07 Falcon you just don't understand... back when FFXI was "The Final Fantasy MMO" (before 14) this rod was almost almost "must have" in order to make big money. One of the biggest money makers back in the day was making sushi. In order to make the highest quality sushi, you HAD to catch Black Sole. The only rod that could catch it back then WAS this rod. And even then, there was a very, VERY small chance they could BREAK this rod. In which case you had to buy an extremely expensive item just to get it repaired.
IF you had cooking leveled up to make the sushi, then you basically had it made and could rake in MILLIONS of gil a day just crafting sushi. But if you didn't, you either had to buy the fish (which was costly) or catch them and sell them (which earned you less gil than making the sushi).
And don't forget, you don't "just" catch a certain type of fish with a certain type of bait. It's a spread. You're not garunteed to catch a certain amount. And back in the day when I played this game, there was a cap on how many fish you could catch before the game locked you out of catching anything (to prevent fishing bots). Then you HAD to wait for the daily reset. So even catching the carp to complete this quest? You were capped. You MIGHT catch (when I played) between 50-90 carp a day before you get capped if you're lucky. And that's over a span of 8 hours of straight fishing.
Can confirm the League of Legends one, I think I'd been playing for 4 years before I unlocked all characters and that was back when it was IP instead of BE to purchase a champion. Personally I feel like it takes even longer now depending on your luck while leveling up an account, since you can get them cheaper IF you get their champion shard, but you no longer receive a little currency after each game.
Also unlocking the secret boss "Nemesis" in Final Fantasy X was a slog and a half to unlock, not sure about time required but man, Capture at least ten of every fiend and defeat all Area Conquest, Species Conquest, and Original Creation bosses. (unsure if this took 100 hours or more, but I have well over 300 hours in the game so it could be that long)

It was even worse though when you had to buy Rune pages and runes to even be competitive. This made it even longer because you had to get those and have multiple games for different champs. No changing them in champ select like now

Happy to see a Shiny Charm moment get a spot on the list. It's the exact reason why, until Sword and Shield, I honestly never made an attempt to get it. It was too hard, would take too long, and I couldn't transfer from past games. Shield and Legends are the only games where I completed the Pokedex. (sword got left out because I consider Shield as my main file, and Sword I just use for challenges and getting the version exclusives to Home transfer over to Shield)

There is an achievement in diablo 2 for reaching level 99 and its gonna take me well over 100 hours to get to , if I ever get to 99. I've currently got my hardcore character to 94 so maybe someday next year I'll grab that 99 achievement and get platinum.

There's actually something in Binding of Isaac that's even harder then that. Imagine getting absolutely everything in that game and deciding "I want to do this at least 2 more times". That's what getting 3,000,000 is in binding of Isaac and repentance just added it so you have to even more on top of that it's insane

If you want all the god rolls weapons or armor or seals in destiny 2, put at least 500 hours in. I once ran a raid with a guy who dumped 1200hr in a single season… who has all the seals, ALL the seals unlocked….
it took me 3 years in between work and life to unlock all the characters in league and always have enough BE to get the newest character i started playing in 2009 its 2022 and league still runs strong, still have all champs and got them all for free i have all the champs and am sitting at around 20k BE for new ones
Unlocking the Phantom Bow (the real way) in Battlefield 4 is also a very long and challenging task... At least 500 hours...

I own every champ in league, most of them are bought from champion shards with blue essences which makes the champion cheaper. You get a box with champion shards everytime you level up wich include 2 or sometimes 3 champions (depending on the level). And it still took me around 2 years i think.
Runescape will forever be the greatest game of all time. Whoever hasn't played OSRS is missing out on a true classic.

I'm surprised there's no mention of warfrsme. Ash, Harrow, necramechs, Amps, focus, any of them are grind fests. But if you really want to progress through the story and max out your character, you could spend thousands of hours on it.

Gran Turismo 4 was an absolute BRUTAL game to play because the steering in the games was an absolute NIGHTMARE compared to 1-3.
As for Runescape, only thing going strong about that is the fact that 80%+ of the player base is actually bots.

i believe one of the most time consuming must be also from WoW: Baron Rivendare's mount. I've known people that tried for +2 years and had no luck getting it
Another time consuming unlock is the calling card from COD: Modern Warfare where you have to unlock the Obsidian camo for ALL the guns in the game. Now you first have to level the gun, then get it gold then you can try to unlock obsidian. For each gun it could take about 10-30 hours depending on the skill level and there's 50 guns. So about 500-1500 HOURS give or take
Gran Tursimo 4 is insane. You have a few endurance races that go literally 24 hours real time. If you complete all endurance races you already have more than 100 hours into the game and this is only a small part of the game O_o
b spec had time 3x, "cheating" but still a good load of time doing all endurance including the 24 hours ones.

For non-speedrunners/first-timers, I'd say getting the golden SAVEFILE in "Celeste" (beat the game getting all strawberries, replay each level without dying, then play the whole DLC without dying, and find a couple of secrets) takes way longer than a 100 hours.
So I see runescape 3 is on here, but how is OldSchool Runescape not on here? It is more popular and some of the best items take thousands of hours to get. I think the average amount of time to get a max cape on a normal account is 1500-2000 hours. If you decided to go full neckbeard, playing the ultimate ironman mode to max is roughly a 7000 hour journey. Go look at some of the people on UA-cam who have done it such as Settled, they are insane.

They should make it so that when you get a platinum trophy on PSN, it unlocks a special unique system theme for that game. That way there is some type of reward for getting every trophy/achievement. Same for Xbox, when you 100% a game it'd be cool getting a new wallpaper or something
the trimmed completionist cape used to have a requirement of playing 5000 castle wars games, with each game lasting 20 minutes. this was a real goddamn requirement that people actually did

Funny is that having all champions in LoL despite being very time consuming is not a rare thing. So many people (me included) having been playing this for so many years that having every champ ,even f2p, is just something that happens. Riot even has to create events so people spend their accumulated f2p currency, otherwise you'd have nothing to buy lol
As I recall, Earning full access to the Iksar city of Cabillis In Everquest involved factioning 5 semi conflicting factions which as a non Iksar took several hundreds of hours and over 10k bone chips. Granted I did quit playing for most of it but it took literal years from the point I started to the point I finally finished.
All to earn the Greenmist which was treated like the Iksar Specific Epic shadowknight weapon. Like Epic 1.25. In basically 2001 that was absolute insanity.

What's also a speed bump for League is the Essence Emporium, a special store page that opens up twice a year, sells rare skin chromas and emotes and doesnt use Riot Points but Blue Essence...the stuff that is used to unlock champions for free.
For part 2, please add in "the Insane" title from World of Warcraft Wrath of the Lich King expansion. it's been made exponentially easier to obtain now, but back then, it took, well, an insane amount of time to obtain.
I was aware of these types of unlocks and it was for this reason that I really did wonder what the big deal was about it taking 40 hours to unlock Darth Vader in Battlefront 2. Don't get me wrong, I don't like EA, I didn't play BF2 and I don't give them money... but 40 hours to unlock a very cool character in an online multiplayer game did not seem problematic to me at all. Other elements sucked, but that particular issue that people freaked out about was a bit petty to me.
The problem was that right up until launch, everything in the game was obtainable from real-money lootboxes. Yeah, Vader might take 40 hours for a free player to unlock, but a whale could just spend $1-200 and get him almost immediately.
For me, getting the Astral Perfection badge in Astral Chain and fully completing all the orders as a result took me near 180 hours or so. It was mostly due to the rough post story challenge files that are locked into a graded difficulty like PT Standard or Ultimate, and just told you go wild. The later missions in chapter 12 are BRUTAL to even survive. They ask you to fight waves of multiple black chimeras at once, which are the toughest and most destructive chimeras outside of Aether the secret boss. In one mission, you had to fight TWO of them at once, along with 2-3 other chimeras at once, multiple times in a row. And the game locks you into the items it gives you for those missions. You're stuck with what they give you, and if you run out of med packs and don't rely on finishing chimeras to regain health, you're done for.
Those boss chimeras will SHRED you for your entire health bar in one attack. Dark Souls bosses would be proud of the sheer destruction these guys sow. Outside of those post game missions, finding all collectibles and secrets can take a while too since some of them are super well hidden. Either way, Astral Chain is one of the most satisfying action combat games I've played, and it kept my attention to full completion. Not many games do that for me.

Getting a personal HQ in Egosoft's X3: Terran Conflict. To do it, you first have to complete the HUB storyline, which has requirements that quickly become so large that you need to build a galactic empire to pull it off. I vaguely remember that it takes people who haven't modded in cheats about 300 hours to do. I managed to take more like 500 hours to finish the HUB, then never did the relatively tiny quest to steal the HQ and set it up.
I have 1300 hours in New Horizons and my museum isn't done yet. But I don't time travel so it is a waiting game. Last two fish don't come back until September.
Back in leagues old days it was even harder to unlock all the champs because you didn't get shards to change for BE and you couldn't use the shards to get champs cheaper. It's so much easier to get them all now

It used to be so much worse in League of Legends because you also had to use your valuable resource that you bought Champions with to buy runes to have a chance at fighting against other players.
Actually, as a guy who played League for years before quitting in S5, it took about 1.5 years to unlock everything if you played 2 hours on average, every single day. Some days you can play more, some less. But the thing that matters is the average time played. If you're under that average time, it's going to take you over 2 years to unlock all the champs and at this point I think they should be given for free to everyone at least for ARAM at the minimum.
I used to play Gran Turismo, didn't even know the 1st Forza Motorsports game was a thing at the time. Got an Xbox 360 to play Halo and it came with Forza Motorsports 2 and have never went back.
Ive played the binding of Isaac for at least 5000 hours over the years , with every dlc coming out from wrath of the lamb to repentance , i even got a tattoo , and my first born sun’s name is Isaac , and i am proud to say that I have done every challenge and unlocked each and every item on the game .
Getting the Astrope Mount in Final Fantasy can take up to a year, as you need to do the Mentor Roulette where each run can go from 5 minutes to 60 Minutes per single run and you need 2000 runs

On the other hand a friend of mine had actually unlocked every champ for free, he was a good adc main (around master) and just bought every champ because he could.
With the length of how much time it takes to get all the achievements and unlockables, the most important thing in every game, is that it's worth it.

It will take approximately 41 years playing Gold difficulty matches in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer to earn enough credits legitimately to have a CHANCE of unlocking all characters, cosmetic upgrades, weapons, and upgrades. This does not factor in sleep, assumes perfect extraction bonuses for all 4 players, never failing, and does not include load times, or time spent navigating menus either. This is pure match playtime to earn enough credits for a chance to get all the items through the lootboxes which is the only way to unlock things. There is no option to buy what you want, you have to roll the dice on lootboxes. And yes, RNG makes it so that lootboxes, no matter the listed odds of getting something good, can give you effectively nothing. It doesn't matter if you open 20 lootboxes, and get 40 Cobra Missiles, you can only bring about 5 with you when you deploy. Getting more missiles does not mean you get to bring more missiles, so getting items like that, and nothing else is equivalent to getting nothing, especially when you get 14 of those in a row, and nothing else. The 41 years of playtime is based on about 20 minutes per match, and its Gold difficulty payout of around 90,000 credits. This also assumes you always get get at least 1 item from the lootboxes that removes something from the item pool as an unlock, rather than just getting a box of nothing but missiles, ammo packs, health packs, and revive packs. 41 years of match playtime is the minimum on Gold. You can probably trim off about 10 years if you play on Platinum, so 30+ years.
Number 1 was funny for me. I did it, but it was over several years. I genuinely enjoyed the game so I just played it a lot. I don't know if it's still in the game, but they added a system where you can get a random champion for like the half the price of the most expensive ones, so once you unlock everything cheaper than that you get the rest for half off. That was how I got most of them.
I was surprised there was nothing from WoW. The Insane title took me years to get. That's probably not the longest one either.
As a league player... I spent over 1 year unlocking everyone... And that was when the roster was half of what it was... Mostly because runes and rune pages were a more important money sink back then.
I remember spending ages to get all champs in league etc. (playing it since season 1 - 2010) and to be fair, hearing that Gamepass owners get access to everything end of the year is quiet interesting and made me mad at first - basically negating all the grind if you pay for the pass.
After doing some reading on it, they made the rules that you only have access while your pass is being paid for and they will appear with a lock icon (like free rotation champs) but still, know you can spend basically 1€ to get all champs from day one is pretty wild.
Bomberman Zero on Xbox 360 have an achievement to place 1 million bombs. That sure isn't done quickly.
Had an old roommate who got hired by Riot. She decided to give the rest of us who lived together 5,000 Riot points because we all played League together. Only, she messed up somehow, and accidentally gave us all 500,000 Riot points each. Bought all the characters and a majority of the skins
The romulus thing in AC brotherhood. You found the underground thing in early stage but you will not be able to find every pieces of romulus until a certain point in the game which takes freaking hellish long time

you'll get the hang of Isaac over time. We use to think the Lost was hard in general but learned to exploit it and create builds through various items in the game. The Keeper then became much more difficult then the lost characters when it released. Honestly Home's boss isn't hard at all. The boss if you ignore Home however is extremely hard and you need to be pretty much perfect with which is actually pretty hard. They also made Delirium even worse by allowing certain attacks to actually hit you more without avoidance from items with Repentance which was already bad as he would often just teleport on you randomly and do damage. Something that never actually has been fixed and should of.
You forgot them thousands and thousands a hours in Destiny 1 and/or 2, going for a “GodRoll” on whatever Gun we all starting using at the exact same time(!); then raid, rinse, and repeat. Over and Over and…

If you're going for completionist in Immortal then it's closer to ~10 years for getting close to a full set of awakened gear.

750 hours in Animal Crossing. It takes just twice that to get a full commercial pilot's license and a job as a pilot. What a magnificent waste of time. Kind of impressed.

Oh hey I used to have all the characters unlocked for league of legends by getting them all free and then I stopped playing. I personally found the unlocking of the characters one of my main driving points for playing the game as I enjoyed the collection aspect and earning them. The last character who was released when I stopped playing was Seraphine.
As for my suggestion for another unlock that takes a long time would be Sea of Thieves Dark Adventurers set. For it you need to get to Pirate Legend which requires you to get three of the factions up to level 50 which gets really grindy around level 30 and then you need to level up your athena rank which is in itself really grindy and risk if players catch onto you doing Athena stuff. And then on top of all of that the set costs 79 million gold to unlock. The clothes by themselves is 11 million and the ship cosemetics come to 37.8 million.
