This has become one of my new favorite podcasts :) love how deep you guys went into things, like all the background stuff like Bill Wurtz and Answer in Progress. I typed out a huge comment but then my phone died (lol), but I have one observation on the channel to add: Both Answer in Progress and ‘easy, actually’ carry the same slightly hurried pace, which totally suits that specific audience intent of “entertainedly learning something”. It’s interesting and common for us to think of concepts as broadly appealing (with breadth being a necessity for the huge videos just because TAM reasons), but actually there’s something intriguing about thinking about how more technical elements - like pacing/delivery etc. -could in their own way have specific styles that are broad appealing, too. Anyway, mega appreciate the deep dive 😍
Nooo, mourning the huge comment that never was 💔 Thanks Dabi! I think you're spot on, they're definitely tapping into a certain style / subculture (all lower caps, casual, nerdy, hurried, 'extremely online', etc)
I really love this video guys! Each of the approaches you broke down, and your observations on the others, was really illuminating for me. I appreciate the effort to derive generalisable and applicable principles from the case studies. So valuable.
Loved this concept. Just hearing about the youtube eco system and what you guys thought about these unique channels was very inspiring. Please do more like this
Anyone who has studied art understands that movements are like a pendulum. The Memphis movement was a reaction AGAINST the clean and simple designs of the Swiss movement. All things are like this. Once things become too saturated, you will begin to see it swing in the OPPOSITE direction and see a more brutalist approach.
