This is AWESOME!!!! We need some guidance in what's going on in our culture. Idk if this is hands off or not but churches really don't equip us with a response and directions about sexuality. How do I respond to friends and family that are lgbtq+ without compromising who I am? How do I respond when I chose not to watch or listen to certain things because of it. Like at the end of voltron on netflix, two male characters get married. And what do I say to my fri nds when they bring it up and not feel stupid or disrespectful
These are great questions and can be super challenging to navigate! We're planning on talking more about some of these questions in our February message series, and in future videos like this. If you're kids don't know who the band Journey is, you have failed as a parents...ha ha... they are a good band. Clean. Impactful. Motivational. Inspirational. Journey is a good band. Lovin' this episode. It's important we get these issues out there because so many people think that just because you're Christian you can't watch certain movies or listen to certain music. You can't do certain things and that's just NOT true. You can live a completely normal life. You just have to make the right decisions and it's all about the COMPANY YOU KEEP will determine what path you will take. Because the people you hang with can influence a lot of your choices. Especially if you fall victim to peer pressure a lot. Choose the right friends, and you'll make better choices.

I have a few questions too. I really enjoy Asian media like anime and kdramas. are those type of things wrong to watch as a Christian?
Short answer: It depends. Long answer: It depends. Lol. We can talk more about anime in a future episode, but for now, I would encourage you to wrestle with whether or not the shows you're watching are helping you become more like Jesus or less like Jesus. I know for a fact, James is a HUGE fan of Dragon Ball Z because of the way Goku chooses to sacrifice himself for the good of others, which is exactly the kind of love Jesus displayed. I watch anime, and this verse really helps me to know which ones to watch! Phil 4:8 Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.
You bring up a good thing, my brother and I were Associate Youth pastors together and when the youth in our program would spout off and say things "Oh, I don't listen to the words Pastor, I just like the sick beats." We challenged that and brought in the music they all said they listened to, along with lyrics. We also let the parents know what we were doing and that it's just a lesson to bring awareness to what their children were really listening to, so that parents weren't freaking out about the fact they heard that type of music on church grounds. But music like Marylin Manson "The Dope Show", Bone Thugs N Harmony "East 1999" album, TLC "CrazySexyCool" album, etc... and we sat down, played these albums and read the lyrics while following along with the music. Then explained that we noticed that the kids while they said they only listened to the "sick beats" they knew every word being said and for that we needed to point out that what they put into their bodies will come out of their mouths eventually. It was a lesson for ALL of us, not just them.

Ummm soul is not the best movie because it has underlying things that can influence our children about the soul and having the female souls in the man like idk I haven’t watched it I just heard someone talk about it. Like everything we watch influences us no matter what it is. I like what you said about it. There Is so much things in this world that just try’s to distract us.
