Lt. Falcon had the potential to be the next great Joe Leader in the RAH Animated Continuity. Shame they wasted him.
Falcon was my absolute favorite action figure as a kid and I actually played with him as the John Wayne character from the Green Berets movie, so this video was a special treat. Thank you so much!
Nice!
Yep, me too. I loved all the characters with berets. I would always have atleast one of them on my missions or have them all team up for the especially tough airborne insertions. Falcon, Flint, Beach Head, Stalker, and Dial Tone. For some reason I always had Stalker as the the team commander as I thought he was highest ranking because he was there from the beginning. Falcon does outrank him according to their cards.
Falcon was the first G.I. Joe figure I bought as a kid and he is my all time favourite.
The Movie in 87 was where I stopped collecting. It got weird after that. I regret not at least continuing my collection. I had every figure up until then, and quite a bit of the vehicles. Alas, I went to basic training in 91 and my mom gave away my beloved collection to my destructive cousins and they were all destroyed.
Carson has done more so much for Gi Joe. His love of the brand is infectious and he is seems like a all around good guy.
My all time favorite GiJoe!!! Awesome colours and no nonsense accessories and filecard. i remember watching the movie and thinking WTF happened to this guy. Great video!!!
It’s so interesting revisiting the actual characters and stories. As kids, we just like who had the biggest gun, the coolest out fit, the strongest of the strong.
Never realizing how sleazy some of the characters were. lol very interesting in-site. Yo joe.
Awesome! This is one of my new favorite vids of yours: the Don Johnson edits, DIC toss to commercial, the look at all the Falcon figures, good stuff!
Thanks Bob! Glad you enjoyed.
Nice Armchair reference. Mom and Dad raised me on the The Duke so combining him with my favorite multimedia line G.I Joe is a great double play. Terrific job editing and Thanks Bro!
Thanks! Glad you 'Enjoyed the show.' 💺🎬
As a kid I always preferred the more realistic Joes. So Falcon was my favorite figure and the last GI Joe I owned before I quit collecting the line altogether.
I do remember seeing the movie when it came on TV around 1989 or 90. But I never actually made the connection between the Falcon in the show and the figure. Probably because I hadn’t collected the line for a couple of years and just assumed the animated character was someone else. Because there is no way he could have been a Green Beret with that attitude. As a result, the GI Joe movie has never really tarnished my impression of Lt. Falcon.
Well I never thought of John Wayne as the voice of Falcon but there it is. It works 😎
This was well put together, thank you.
Always amazing content Mike!😁👍
Thank you! 🤝
All my favorite Joe's had woodland camo or OD Green uniforms. After 1987 G.I. Joe was a sliding scale to garbage.
This is such a coincidence, Michael. Just yesterday I was going through 3d Joe's trying to figure out which Joes went through Airborne Ranger training. From what I figured out Stalker, Flint, Beach Head, and Falcon are all Rangers or at least went through the training. I love that you referenced his appearances in Larry Hama's RAH. There was a later issue from IDW where Falcon gets shot through the face, I believe while leading a mission at a Terror Drome (can't remember the exact issue). Again, Larry wrote him as a true Green Beret and leader. He literally patched up his own face while fighting and giving orders. Awesome, that's one tough dude!
I remember that issue. Talk about true grit!
I love questions like this. You can add these to your list of Ranger qualified Joes: Outback, Recondo, Tunnel Rat, Alpine, Crank-Case, Scarlett, Snake-Eyes, Ripcord, The original G.I.Joe, Joe Colton, Low-Light, Free Fall, Crazylegs, Storm Shadow, Roadblock, Duke, Spirit, and Clutch.
Falcon was my first Joe along with Tunnel Rat, when they first hit here in Australia in ‘86 🤘 digging your channel man!
Those are nice information about Lt Vincent Falcon. He's one of my favorites members of G I Joe. He's also the Hero of the movie. I'm glad that some fans still appreciate him. Too bad he doesn't appear so much in the third season or part from D - I - C entertainment (the events after the movie) and, I'm aware of him being involved with drugs for a while. He's still one of the best members in the team.
Yes, may all time favorite GI Joe.
If the marvel sunbow series continued falcon would be a great leader like duke learning from his mistakes of the past.
Awesome as usual! Keep up the great work 👍
Thank you.
Great video. Nicely done! Yo Joe!
Definitely an underrated character. Falcon having Don Johnson's voice and being an item with Jinx are fine, but otherwise ignore the movie and DiC and go with the filecard and comics.
Speaking of which, be sure to check out IDW's G.I.Joe: A Real American Hero issue #288 by Larry Hama himself. It's a prequel to Falcon's first appearance in Marvel #60 and gives Falcon some long overdue further character development.
Edit: Also, henceforth in my Joe head canon, Falcon's middle initial "R." will stand for Robert. If you know, you know.
Good work on this one.
Team guys are the best, you know?
Honor was always mine to give them.
Falcon did show up in G.I. Joe: Renegades, but before he joined the Army. He was referred to by his real name of Vincent.
The quote from the "Ballad of the Green Berets" was by I'm sure you know SFC Berry Sadler. I had the privilege of serving with his nephew in Iraq in 2004-05. By all accounts, he truly did stand by the motto.
Lt. Falcon or should I say Falcon is one of my favorite GI JOE Characters in both The Cartoon The Gi Joe RAH(Real American Hero Cartoon Continuity) and The Comics The Gi Joe RAH(Real American Hero Marvel Comics Continuity),also Lt Falcon in the cartoon is not only The Half Brother of Duke (Sgt Conrad Hauser) but also the friend and Boyfriend of Jinx as well, also Lt. Falcon is also a member of The GI Joe Team a member of all three Gi Joe Subgroups including the following they are 1.Gi Joe Night Force, 2.Gi Joe Super Sonic Fighters and 3. The Leader of the GI Joe Rawhides, also Stalker,Filnt,Beach Head and Falcon are all Rangers or at least went through Ranger Training. also The Original Lt Falcon Action Figure from 1987 was very good, also remarkable mention of the Late Great Legendary John Wayne and his role in the 1968 movie The Green Berets, also Carson has done so much more for GI Joe. his love of the brand is infectious and he is not only a great guy but also like a All Around Good Guy. also when I get the time I'll pick up a copy Of Idw's G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero(1st series)#288 by Larry Hama himself. It's a prequel to Falcon's First Appearance in Marvel(1st series)#60 and gives Falcon some long overdue further Character Development. also the Gi Joe Retrospective on Lt. Falcon was Incredible, also what a superb review of Falcon! And a round of applause for Carson as well, also Still one of my all time favorite GI Joe!!!, Awesome Colors and no nonsense accessories and filecard. Remarkable Video.!, also superb as usual Micheal keep up the great work.👍, also Lt Falcon is also a member of both 1.Sgt Slaughter's Renegades and 2.Slaughter's Marauders, also if The Marvel Sunbow Series continued Falcon would be a remarkable leader like Duke and finally learning from his mistakes of his past and he did. also the Lt. Falcon Action Figures from 1987 to present was superb, also the bio and Profile on Falcon was Incredible the following are: Code Name Lt. Falcon,Real Name: Vincent R. Falcone, Birthplace: Fayetteville,North Carolina, Alias(as of 2022):Falcon, Service Branch(as of 2022): US Army, Grade/Rank(as of 2022):First Lieutenant (0-2), Specialty(as of 2022): Special Forces, Infantry;,Medic, Training (as of 2022):Special Forces Organizational Information: Faction:(as of 2022): GI Joe Team, SubTeams(as of 2022):1.Night Force, 2.Super Sonic Fighters,3.Rawhides,4.Sgt Slaughter's Renegades, & 5.Slaughter's Marauders, also The voices of 1. Don Johnson,2.Scott McNeil, and 3.John Wayne was outstanding, also thank you for sharing Micheal keep up the great work stay safe out there Yo Joe and Nerdmaste.🙂👍💪🟢🇺🇸
Loved this with the voice change! I would love to see a Joe review done with the Joe voiced by Ronald Reagan.... he may not have been acting by the time the 80s rolled around but there is no person more synonymous with that decade.
What an awesome review of Falcon! ...and a round of applause for Carson as well! I couldn't afford to back the new figures, but I was able to back the new art book earlier this year. Can't wait to have the book in hand, the updates on the project have been impressive.
Yes he would have made a great chuckles.
Wish I would have know about operation decal to back it 18 days ago. Sad day
for me falcon works as the hypercompetent rookie. the thing most everyone forgets about gi joe is these guys are the best of the best every single member is tried and tested. falcon is a guy that made it to the top and learned that was only level one! hence the arrogance and hot headedness, because he earned it beforehand! hes essentially the shark in a small pond who goes go to a specialist college/uni and finds out hes a shark amongst whales
He showed up in a gijoe annual in 2019 it looked like they were going to do a series sequel to the movie falcone was the focus as he was going to lead the charge against Supentor and get revenge for Duke
I liked he was a screw up in the movie, made him more relatable and his comeback more memorable
Falcon is a great character. Not sure why he was written in the movie that way, but I liked him from when he ends up with Sarge and the Renegades and on. Though, I think Zarana could pretty much dupe us all, no.. In my head cannon, he is what his file card portrays. I always imagined that Joe Colton was like John Wayne, but I'm loving his voice over with the animated Falcon. I totally agree on Dennis Quad as being great Hawk in the first live action film. Thanks for the great video Michael, and Carson is a pretty cool guy.
Another home run of a video. Is there any hope of a live action movie that will do GI Joe justice?
Always loved the Joe action figs. My second favorite toyline behind Motu! I have the fortune of owning Falcon plus I have just the best action figures in the Gi.Joe collection, in my opinion that is. I don't collect entire toylines, just what I consider the best figs and the most popular. 😊
More of these history episodes please
btw do you have any news on Kevin Formbx257? I’m a fan of both your channels
Love that comic cover 73
Even with the 25th anniversary figure, i still lose the backpack antenna
Falcon actually was in Renegades, but because of the origin story plot the show was doing he's only 12 or 13 and he kind of acts like he did in the movie, but because his life had basically been ruined by everyone including him thinking his brother is a trader to their country he's a least justified in that series.
Ha. Just bought him at my local toy store and they told me it was flint. Well now I know. Thx
I like falcon it brings him back to the big GI Joe animated movie he was just a young kid trying to be like his half brother Duke having John Wayne do the voice of the character would make him older and more experience with being a Green Beret but you have that with Flint I always thought that he was his brother I would have been cool to see him being the brother or son of hawk
If Duke calls you an idiot, you are indeed officially an idiot!
Probably my favorite Joe, behind Hit n Run, Duke and Flint!!
I lost that little antenna on Falcon's backpack and it still bugs me.
I love these videos. I learn so much history about a character that happened after I quit collecting in 1988. I never thought Don Johnson was the right pick for Falcon either. I'm sure Hasbro did it just for the star status. Now that you mention it Dennis Quiad would have been a much better pick for Lt. Falcon, or heck even Kurt Russell. Thanks for the great history lesson, and the trip down memory lane Michael! Much love to you and Luana. Nerdmaste my brother.
Thanks Scott! Gladyou enjoyed it. Kurt's another great choice. He nailed the John Wayne voice in Big Trouble in Little China. 😁 All the best to you and the Mrs.
Sounds like John Wayne there pilgrim. Getting down like the Rappin' Duke da-ha da-ha
Another great video. I agree with every point you made, the movie did him in for me, but the comics redeemed him.
Thank you. 🤝
Neat.
I had Falcon. Agreed that GI Joe the Movie really kind of bummed him out. The deal with him and Zarana was interesting.
Very informative video. And me thinking you were going to do one about Rambo 😅😄; but certainly Falcon is a character who deserved a much better portrayal than the one he got in the '87 animated movie, which sadly, is the one most people remember when they think of the character. Even when compared to other fictional depictions of green berets, it still does come as off the mark; I mean, not only what you mention about what it takes to become a green beret, the guy also held a commissioned officer rank which in actuality would place him just below General Hawk.
Falcon had brown hair, and Flint had black hair, but in the cartoon, Falcon had black hair, and Flint had brown hair!
It's Rumble and Frenzy all over again.
Howdy Pilgrims!
i know i can't do your patreon anymore because of financial reasons, but i hope to one day get to see a toys gone wild or is it patreon special mission of repeater; either way love the content hope it's going well.
Hope to see a Super7 ReAction figure of Lt. Falcon to place alongside Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime same time hope to also see a Super7 ReAction figure of Serpentor to also place alongside Galvatron✝️🇺🇸🦅🪖🎖
👍
gotta admit I was never a fan of Falcon because of the movie either. and they did him even more dirty in the DIC animated show. I think if they ever produce a new show and include him they should make him a way better character . as for the figure I never had the oringinal . I have bit wasn't a fan of the 25th version I think the head looked too squashed or too young looking . when I think green beret I think of a seasoned trooper not someone who looked like they just graduated bootcamp. the later modern ones corrected it , still I always did prefer the Night force colours over the 25th version too cause if you look at the original O-ring and the 25th the camo scheme just looks off .
John Wayne was a true patriot, one my favorite actors ever. It would have been amazing to have him as a voice actor on gi joe
You don't seem to want to accep the fact you're dealing with an expert in guerrilla warfare, with a man who's the best, with guns, with knives, with his bare hands. A man who's been trained to ignore pain, ignore weather, to live off the land, to eat things that would make a billy goat puke. In Vietnam his job was to dispose of enemy personnel. To kill! Period! Win by atrition. Well Falcon was the best.
Are you telling me that 200 of our men against your boy is a no-win situation for us?
They definitely did him wrong in the movie. Both as a green beret and as Dukes brother. I loved the movie as a kid and am still fond of it. The opening theme was a tremendous upgrade. But of course the whole cobra la and changing the commanders backstory was terrible.
But loved all the new joe additions. It was a mixed bag but at least they changed the ending and didn’t kill Duke
Just wished they had a Big lob figure back then.
