There are only a few differences from the gameplay in Mahjong, Have you actually played Mahjong? Or are you talking about American Mahjong which is a different game? Or are you thinking about those stupid tile paring games? Proper Mahjong IS A RUMMY GAME. And it is thought that Rummy came from Mahjong There are ways to play with 2 players. Because PROPER Mahjong is a great game this is a cheaper substitute than a set of tiles. I made a mahjong set of using playing cards. I think i needed 4 decks. I can't remember as somebody gave me set of tiles. You can "steal" to form a meld in Mah Jong. Emotions = Dragons There really aren't many differences. No 4 tile Melds and none of the over complicated way of setting up, but the rest is pretty much the same.
@@gameon2553 thanks for all the info! I said in the video that this is not mahjong in card form. That it is a different game inspired by mahjong. Thank you for watching. :)
As a player who actually played mahjong, I could say this game surely follows every core mechanics of the original, which is very impressive! The shortage of number cards & lacking the conditions of completing hands(which is very hard to get used to it) are all fine to me, as they makes the game less complex. The only thing I don't like is the shortage of coins - 10 coins per person is not enough; 15-16 would be enough. Overall, I could enjoy this as much as I enjoyed Suzume-jong(which is a different board game, also based on mahjong).
Also about other things: - Mahjong is a tough matching-type game to swallow, and thus one might make mistakes while learning. So I'm impressed about you to take steps into it. - Could you make a video about Conquian, including the 3-4 player variant where each players take 7 cards, pass 1 card to the right(turn-taking is CCW) before flipping the top card of stock, and melds 8 cards to win? (This could be a reference: ua-cam.com/video/kKdX_AXycSM/v-deo.html)

Yea! If I am not mistaken, there are different words said depending on why the person is stealing the tile. :)
Here is my favorite video describing how to play Mahjong: ua-cam.com/video/IurYlebcTLk/v-deo.html

Kung and pong depending on whether you make a 3 or 4 tile meld.
