Wow!!!! I have had severe neck pain and shoulder pain for years!!! I just began chiropractic care 5 months ago. Even laser! THIS VIDEO technique helped SO TREMENDOUSLY!! I'm teared up, thank you! I will continue to follow along and share!!
Wow, same here, I heard little cracks and pops that I didn't even know were there release, and I can actually turn to the left without a stabbing pain at the back of my lungs, I'll be doing this daily from now on, thank you so much Taro!!! Now onto the neck videos 🙃
After 10 months , yes, considerable improvements! Pain has gone from an 8-9 to a 2-3! Mind you, this has been years of abuse on my neck/ shoulder area from work! I still have episodes, but this procedure continues to help alleviate my pain! I'm thrilled with the results!😊🙏
Wow. I woke up with neck pain after having a Charlie horse-type spasm in the shoulder muscle last night. This reduced my pain by 70 percent immediately. Tomorrow I'll be checking out your other videos! Thank you!!!!!!
You said a magic word-nervous system. The exercise was very effective. I had to ask myself why I couldn’t manage that level of comfort and ease with my own stretching, and with gained knowledge of how to move. My nervous system is very taxed from physical and emotional issues. So standard stretching doesn’t address the source of tension. Or lets say that standard stretching isnt effective, because my nervous system is trained to respond a certain way to ingrained movement, thereby reinforcing chronic pain. Your method seems to bypass my ingrained damaging nerve pathways, and give my body another avenue for movement. Still just turning my neck, but thinking about it differently. Organizing the body parts attached to the neck in such a way that the neck is not isolated as a disfunctional link, but integrated as part of a well functioning whole. Thank you!!
Wow, Sharon. Thank you for your comment. This describes me so accurately, I have rarely been able to put my experience in the proper words, however you said it perfectly. I tried this movement and felt it the most in my back at the right shoulder, which is a problem area. I am using Taro's videos to help me retrain my body and my nervous system to handle moving properly, in the right form, and without pain. My body keeps naturally reverting to 'ingrained' movements trying to keep me safe, (as it adapted over years of stress and trauma)and I have to push through the discomfort, nausea and awkwardness to 'teach' my nervous system new ways of moving that it can perceive as safe and healthy, though it is uncomfortable at the moment. My body reacts strongly to new movements, but I take it slow and persist. Thank you for the encouragement I derived from your comment. Thank you Taro for the reminders to go slow and easy and pay attention to how the movement feels.
Thank you it feels easier and less painful if any pain at all hopefully the painless times last keep up the great videos and information thanks again 🙏
I suspect that my dysfunctional movements became deeply ingrained through language. Like when people say to me, "Turn your head to the right" or "Turn your neck to the left," I always take that literally without incorporating any subtle movements that originate from my upper torso. After I did this video exercise with you, I resolved to "turn from the sternum" the next time I feel the urge to "turn my head" or "turn my neck." I think that new phrase will be a quick and easy way for me to remember this video lesson in real life as I go about everyday activities. Thank you, Taro, for your generosity and eloquence. I've learned so much from you!
Thank you for this 🫶 I’d love to see a video on abdominal muscles. I have strong upper abs and a belly pouch and I’m starting to realise it’s the way I’m standing.
Although I know Feldenkrais is NOT magic, every time I follow you during a session my mind automatically squeals with Joy, "Magic, I'm fixed!" Thank you, Taro Iwamoto!
This, plus the other neck and pain videos have freed me, not so much from chronic pain, but from constant tension, which I found draining. With Much Gratitude. j
Wonderful! Have you watched my recent neck series? I started this new series last week, and this series is about improving chronic neck pain and tension. I highly suggest this series!
@@bastard748 cool! that doesnt surprise me at all though. Improving posture, balance, neck, back are all the same things as all body parts are connected.
I woke up with horrible neck and shoulder pain with a migraine and I remembered your videos, (which I just recently discovered), so I did several of your videos for neck, shoulder pain and flexibility, including this one and amazingly, just as the first time I tried your instructions through your videos, I instantly felt better. Over the years, due to herniated discs in my neck, I had been sent to PT and every time, I ended up worse, with more pain and stiffness. Your videos and instructions are amazing and a blessings. Thank you so much.
Your voice quality and speaking pace are very easy to listen to and to follow calmly. I appreciate it very much. Your videos are so helpful to me as I try to regain motion and mobility. Thank-you.
Dr Michael Klaper referred me to this video for my neck stiffness. This seems to help! You should know that Dr Klaper teaches other doctors at medical schools how to reverse diabetes type 2, heart disease and many more with whole food plant based nutrition. Such a blessing to have you guys do way more than what’s taught at medical schools. Thanks again.
I havent heard about Dr.Klaper until now. I did a little research on the internet and watched a few of his videos. My wife and I practice similar diet for our health, called macrobiotics. I like his approach to health very much.
I apologize for the low voice volume for this video. Hopefully you can hear ok. If not, please try a headphone/earphone. Good news is that my recent videos (all videos after April 2021) have improved audio thanks to the new mic :) I appreciate your understanding. From now on, I'm going to say to myself, "The STERNum is for TURNing." I feel like this will remind me to incorporate a subtle movement of the sternum whenever I turn my head to the left or to the right. Thank you, Taro!
Gotta be honest, I was really really skeptical at the beginning, but I could definitely feel the before-after difference very clearly! What magic is this!
I didn't even know what Feldenkrais was, before I accidentally found one of your other videos! These are the perfect compliment to my chiropractic care and yoga - especially for the neck /shoulder area, where it can be hard to massage or stretch those muscles...re-training them gently like this sounds perfect. And easy to incorporate into every day life!
Wow, I never thought about the neck, ribcage, and spine connection. Instead of turning my neck independently, I should be turning from the sternum. Never would have thought of that. This will be super helpful for my skating mechanics as well. Thank you!
Bless you. How on earth I just found your channel. This is such precious teaching that we can only get from specific healing movement training. Thank you.
I have had pain in my neck for over 2 years. Although I still have some residual pain these exercises have helped quite a lot and my neck is moving much smoother. I will incorporate these exercises into a daily routine.
it's about teaching your brain/nervous system by giving your attention to your body. Your attention connects your brain with your body, and simple movements can make a big change!
This exercise worked at least for an hour or so after working on it! Hopefully for a longer duration if continue working on it. It is also quite interesting how body warms up after the exercise. Thank you Taro-san for sharing your knowledge. 日本から応援してます!
I woke up with a severely stiff and painful right side of my neck. Looked for a solution in your videos and was reminded I did this one once before several months ago. This time very profound relief right away. I will remember always and use it whenever I need it or just need to tuneup.
I have got through chiropractors, massage, physical therapy, and rolfing. THIS is the effective treatment, right here on youtube. Than you for sharing.
Idk how I found your channel but I'm glad....who would of thought these type of movements would be the ones to help so efficiently....compared to other thousands of guides. Keep it up!
This is great stuff Taro!! 👏 I have seen and used a lot of tools this little segmental gem is brilliant 👏 great reminder the body needs guidance sometimes. That nervous system of ours is a beautiful thing. Peace and gratitude for sharing this ❤️
WOW 1st time turning head to the right I could feel the pull all the way down back on right side of spine. It was really uncomfortable. Turning to the left was fine. After turning sternum then adding neck to it a few times, the right side of my back calmed down significantly. I wish i lived in Washington so I could come see you. Every exercise you have for us is easy to do and helps immensely.
Watched with skepticism and wasn’t sure if sternum was actually moving with pressure, but it gave me more improvement in neck rotation than anything I’ve done so far with PT and other UA-cam videos.
limitation is not usually in where we think it is. Limitation is very often how we use ourselves habitually. If you expand use of your body, you can move beyond the limitation!
Thank you!! Wonderful healing results. I have practiced yoga for 20 years, qi gong for 6 and regularly have specific chiropractic adjustments and acupuncture. Your modalities have moved my self care to another level.
I'm envisioning my sternum as an automatic steering wheel. With little force I can cause it to gently move both my neck and thoracic region (w/ribs) and in the process feel the interconnectivity of all three areas. Over time my nervous system will have learned to make these areas more pliable. AM I ON THE RIGHT TRACK?
Thank you, I actually was skeptical with this exercise(as I have watched many youtube videos that dont work) but my neck motion actually had better mobility after this. Great stuff :D
Im like really really old and trying to find a balance between extreme exercise and healing. Your videos are right on. I'm doing your techniques and I can really feel the difference. Thank you!
I am amazed at how the shoulder exercise and now this are helping the stiffness I have experienced for so long. I have tried a lot of different exercises but none have had such an immediate effect. I have been doing the shoulder exercise a couple of times each day. So I will now add this one too. Thank you
