I’ve got TMJ, full rounded posture, neck pain and I’m sure I’ll realize more from your videos. Thanks to you, I am making friends with my body instead of feeling like it’s working against me. You are seriously a fantastic teacher and human. Thank you 💕

Where were you before I spent over a thousand pounds in specialists? 😅 My jaw tenses all day and night, and it clicks. After doing your exercises they’re much more relaxed and stopped clicking! Thank you so much for spreading your knowledge for free, it’s truly appreciated ☺️

    Thanks for the clear details.
    Definitely helpful.
I found using a wine cork horizontally between my teeth makes conscious the closing of my teeth. It's good to realize why the jaw likes locking, often it's an unconscious action to stop from speaking up. Children are often not listened to or scared silly. Shutting up become a chronic defense.

my pleasure! What goes really well with this is breath awareness lessons. TMJ, neck tension and pain are closely related to nervous system out of balance due to stress (both physical and emotional). Breath awareness lessons help regulate the nervous system, which will then regulate muscular tone around neck and TMJ.

Good timing, I woke up early due to jaw/temple pain because I clench at night. For some reason it always effects my right eye so I massage my forehead with my palm. Thanks for posting the other link, too. I will check it out. Your work is appreciated. 😊

Hi I have TMJ and wear a day splint should I wear it during this exercise or take it off. I have had a permanent tension headache for 15+ years and my nerves are overwhelmed. But I tried one of your tmj videos and my jaw pain reduced by 70% almost immediately I'm so amazed!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. God bless you.
    Maria.

If the splint limits your jaw movements, you can try this exercise gently without it as long as taking it off doesnt bother you.

I've had TMJ for years..mouth guards at night, sedatives for sleeping.
I have broken a wisdom tooth also !!!
I got given exercises but it made it worse but this is so gentle an for the first time,I could hear my jaw creaking !!!
Im sorry this is long but I'm suffering so bad cos I'm being told 3 different things here.... Bruxism, vestibular migraine (without headaches) an TMJ which I believe it to be..... symptoms....muscles either side of my head, temple an muscles above that, always feels like I have a tight clamp, never goes away, vertigo, feeling light headed an ears feel blocked....I have been checked by g.p also.
How can I relax my muscles either side of my head, not temples just above the temples, the muscles you feel when your chewing, can you help with this please cos I'm certain,it's these muscles causing all that too.
I'm starting your jaw exercises immediately.....Thank God I found this channel 🙏❤️🙏

I like you, Taro, and had neighbors named George Iwamoto and his parents. Fine neighbors. Your jaw exercises are good, but I think you would get more subscribers if you talk less. Look at other Feldenkrais jaw exercises on UA-cam. When they only do one exercise, the video is about 4 to 6 minutes long. Yours is 9 minutes. You mean well, but it goes too slow for anyone who has other fitness activities to do & doesn't want to get stuck on one for that long. It is meant to be a helpful suggestion only from someone who has watched most of the jaw videos on UA-cam. Good luck, I truly wish you well!

I can't seem to slow my eyes down, it feels like I can only make quick jumps with my vision. I can do it if I follow my finger nail with eyes but without an object to focus on my eyes see to jump between positions going side to side. Should I focus on eye strain exercises before doing this movement?

    • @TaroIwamoto
      @TaroIwamoto  2 роки тому +3

you can first just do jaw movements alone, then if it helps, you can put your thumb in front of eyes and follow your thumb with eyes as you move your jaw.

    • @kimwarburton8490

i would GUESS to even up the muscle imbalance. My lower jaw was to the left, now it is more central cos i would open my mouth as wide as i could go with my teeth in alignment. i also found those teeth guards useful at night n taping my lips shut with micropore tape when all was in alignment. It could be you have a cheek muscle that is stronger than the other too, in which case, id practice winking that eye n cheek muscle.
Myself, after this vid, i would do the exercise 5 times more on the short muscle side. whatever u do, go gentle, little n often would be my advice from personal experience

since i had a root canal, i started chewing food more on one side then over time i noticed i started using right side of face when speaking and smiling, and realized i havent used left side as much. I am more aware now and try to use left side more. You can observe which side you use more when eating and speaking, and start using underused side more

even if it barely moves, you can still improve the quality of movement. If you can start to improve movement quality, the range will start to increase without increasing effort.
