What an enjoyable video and well put together, thank you for sharing it with us. I watch these kind of shooting videos as I get to see the English countryside, something I miss as an Expat now living in NZ. No crows in NZ, but we have the Australian Magpie and I give them a go. I have thought about a 17 Hornet, as I like to reload myself, but stuck to to my trusty Tikka T1X in 22Lr. I reload for my Tikka T3X Aspire which in 243 Win. By the way, the reason you had a problem with that crow that landed on the right was you had placed a decoy on the left. The wind was running right to left and all the birds had been landing on the left into the wind, but once you put the decoy on the left, it put that crow off! Some birds like to land in open ground and walk in, but you inadvertently changed that! Anyway, you had a great morning shooting, well done.
Excellent marksmanship!! Some of the humorous lines you say really got me laughing, you must have a great sense of humor. That 17 performs perfectly at those ranges you're shooting from and is so quiet with a can on! Well done, looking forward to the next one!
17 Hornet is a cracking round. Over 500 ft lb and flat shooting. No recoil and using a Wildcat mod, no louder than my hmr. Foxes out at 250 yards, absolutely no problem and very accurate too. I handload for mine and get 1/2 MOA or less at around 3350 fps using 25 grain Hornady. 👍 It's probably my favourite rifle
That was a decent bag for a change, the sheep will be a bit safer now you have cleared some of those crows. That Hornet sure has a sting, not many run away from it.
Great result David. Can you tell us what gun rest you are using in your shelter ? I happen to buy a similar shelter but struggling with my shooting sticks in it (quad sticks).
A bumper day with the wee .17 Hornet bashing the crows, well done sir, jolly good show!

My apologies, I hadn't read the heading, you're Northern Irland, which is also beautiful too.

Hi mate, do you find it difficult to get ammo to handload for the .17 hornet or not? i have been thinking of getting this calibre.
Nice video, thanks David - with a good result. Not just saving Sheep & Lambs from Pest Species, but also Songbirds & Ground-nesting birds.

Just watched the video, great by the way, why, when you shoot birds, do you get a puff of feathers off of them when the bullet/pellet hits them?
Great result David.
