While I think this was a nice video, I do wish that more people talked about the later arcs. I do feel there's a bit of quality decline around Generation 5 when the mangaka is struggling to keep up with the large list of games being released, but I think it'd be nice if more people discussed the later portions of the series so that people can see it as more than "That manga where the Arbok gets cut in half".
100% True, and yeah it is a bit of a letdown because there is so much cool stuff that I'm sure the writer probably wanted like IDK having Red come back for the XY arc for example or like a brief prequel/sequel Legends Arceus arc with Platnum and Diamond or something
Yeah, that's my grip with people and the Pokespe manga, they praise it but just the same points over and over, they don't go far from things like "Omg Arbok got cut in half! Zombie psyduck! Red's Poli stabbed! Dark and gritty Pokémon manga go brrr" like c'mon guys, there's more in the stories than those brief panels
The manga where Brendan and may subvert gender roles by going after "unexpected goals" for what would normally be exoected
I think it probably doesn’t help that gen 5 has the most involved plot of all the games, and marks a point where the games themselves become a lot more dialogue heavy. At this point it becomes trickier to go off piste, like they do in the earlier arcs, when the borders are much more rigid. There are loftier expectations that the stories must go in a certain way.
I did still really enjoy the Gen 5 arc. Ghetsis revealing that his team was built specifically to defeat Black's was mind blowing.
I'm totally with you but for the part about the quality drop. XY and BW2 are among my absolute favs, the plot is way way more adult and psychological. And therefore I agree, people should talk way more about the later arcs as they often hide incredible details not present in the first chapters.
One of the thing i like the most with this manga is that pokemons can take advantage of the particular physiology of their own specie to do unique things that no other pokemon are able to do, outside of their clearly defined moves, abilities or supposed level of power.
48:23 what Crys’s mom did to her wasn’t really abuse as I see it. Forward and direct but not abuse. Prior to the slap Crys was borderline hysterical in her grief of failing to meet expectations Crys’s professionalism practically crushing her with its weight. What Crys’s mom did was give her a slap back to reality in order to get Crys back on track.
If this is considered abuse then in gurren Lagan n did Simon abuse rouciuo when he punched him prior to rouciuo killing himself when his guilt over his choices for humanity overtook him. Should Simon choose not to abuse rouciuo and allow him to undergo his choice and end his own life.
If we want to talk about Pokémon abuse how about Lillie be her mother or Ruby’s complex relationship with Norman where both are in the wrong.

I like Green, but I hate Fujiko. Green I can accept she's got a lot of reasons for what she does and she isn't cold. Fujiko she just too much, she'll do anything to get Lupin stuff and she just not trust worthy.
Lol, I just discovered the glorious series that is Lupin III a few weeks ago. Fujiko isn't part of the reason I love it.
10:35 if you want to go deeper we also know that Green was trained by Chuck in jhoto for several years. And he didn’t also just teach Green how to be a better Pokémon trainer but also a better fighter teaching him many martial arts specifically kendo.
This is what lead to Greens professional objective nature towards discipline.
Glad to see some good long content on the Pokémon Adventures Manga. Really enjoyed going in depth with topics like nature and technology, female representation and how Pokémon handles the franchise. Personally I hope one day this manga is adapted into an anime and fixes any minor flaws it has throughout the series (like with the Red/Blue League Battle, maybe with Blue using one more Pokémon for a equal 4 Pokémon each and instead of a 3 vs 1, it's Red rapidly switching between Pokémon for a team attack)
@Anime PFP is Overhated (IsaacInfernape2000) Funnily enough at this point in time, I've already read them, all the way up to Black and White 2 arc. Did really enjoy Ruby/Sapphire and D/P/P Arcs though despite some mixed opinion on the endings.

blue is green in japan because red and green released first and blue came later with updated sprites and an updated red with the sprites. It's why the girl is called blue in japan. Meanwhile america switched because we got pokemon red and blue, thus change the person to blue to not confuse readers who didn't know about japan AT THAT TIME, when the pokemon fans began to learn, it became easier to understand.
1:10:15 I was confused about the rules at first too, but upon rereading the Gold and Silver arc when Red is taking the gym leader exam they explicitly say the "rules are the same as the pokemon league tournament", in which you're allowed to use 6 but if only one faints you're disqualified. Blue lost because his Charziard fainted while Snorlax and Machamp where incredibly low on health but not knocked out.
1:01:32 something I wish to point out is that despite this being mentioned this is mewtwo at his fundamentally weakest. And I don’t speak of this in a power context but in a sense that this mewtwo is the equivalent of a literal baby fighting only off of instinct and fixed strategies that become his downfall.
However throughout the series in the various events and milestones of its life mewtwo grows up from baby to child to teen and finally adult in regards to power intelligence emotional maturity and finding his purpose in the world.

Okay so, Red wasn't really using the pokemon all at once. He explicitly changes between the 3 pokemon, using the poli and pika's time for set up and then Saur for the killing blow. He just got poli and pika back out of their pokeballs for the finishing pose (because they contributed so they deserve the glory.)
The rules are simple. One pokemon at a time, 6 pokemon max. First one to have a pokemon faint loses, hence why Green gets his pokemon out before they faint.
I love how adventures gives mewtwo the spoon as like a sword. It is my favorite thing it added and it should truly be in more medi
This is super difficult to make. So many key points and I’m not even halfway through. If this doesn’t cover all the adventures regions I’m going to cry. Nonetheless amazing job!!! (although I am a bit late)
I liked your perspective on the early arc of Pokemon Adventures! I agree, Mato has an amazing art style that I wish she continued for the series. Though her successor has done a great job, and she's still an active artist.

All in all, don't be discouraged about the low view count in general, since youtube doesn't have much of an interest in smaller or beginning channels, and this fandom is incredibly small as it is - as long as you have a good time creating this content, I'm certain you'll go places! :D

Yeah more is absolutely coming and not even just pokemon. Id like to catch up, but right now im planning on getting to at least Gold and Silver. I dont see why I wouldnt catch up but thats all i have hard plans for.

So it was a refreshing reminder of something I read a long time ago and would have to dedicate some time to reading it again. This was so helpful to remember all the best moments of the Manga. 7:30 incorrect. The last Pokémon red and oak were after was the bulbasaur and the machoke was a wild one from the abounded viridian gym.

Blue(Male) is known as Blue, rather than his actual name of Green, is due to the fact that rather then Green version that Japan got, internationally, Green version became Blue, hence the name change.
It be dope if you read all the pages in character and panned the camera so we can read along snd see all the pics up close ❤😅

Not that I don’t like other Shonan anime it’s just that Naruto with the Shippuden ark are the only mange I’ve ever read apart form random obscure titles & Rave Master cuz I’d just rather watch an anime if it’s available to watch

It pains me that Pokémon adventures didn’t receive an anime akin to Pokémon origins cuz that was probably the closet animation to catch that Poke Adventures vibe & aesthetic but that’s the reason I still pick up the books & read em ever so often cuz it’s the only way I can experience that world

I love this video! I feel like it deserves more views than it already has, which is probably because it's so dang long. The UA-cam algorithm hates it when people click off prematurely! You should take a note off of film UA-cam producers and re-release everything into smaller, more specific videos- e.g. Female representation in Pokespe's early days, ~15-20 minutes long. That way, all the informations way more accessible, more polished and gets more views! I feel like there's a truckload of pokemon nostalgia being unutilized here!!

i dont like this analysis, the nitpicks it presents arent inconsistencies and it views the story in a meta level where it views it as a manga and not as a story, as well as finding things where there arent any, such as with female representation or the representation of disabilities in media, which doesnt make sense. That wasnt the point the series was trying to make, and it was not made with an agenda. For example the battle at the end wasnt supposed to represent blue not pushing his pokemon any further (or at least i dont think it does, as that doesnt make any sense). It views characters in the series as archetypes of a character rather than the character itself, while missing the point (for example, he is surprised when red strategizes on vermillion city to find pokemon, even though that is one of two traits already shown to us, the other being his spirit). That is like saying if I ever say to myself "I want to do this!" I am exactly like Luffy now, which doesnt make any sense. Like I said, the author of the review tries to get things out where there arent any- as in judging the property as if it came out today or getting a word from the author's mouth even though you should judge a thing by what it is. Also, the manga doesnt make changes to the designs of pokemon, it just makes them a bit more cartoony at times, as it does with the designs of people. If you enjoyed the series that way I think that is cool but I dont think what you said makes sense, as it is viewed on a meta level and not as a story- for example, suggesting that a complicated point in the manga should only exist where there is foreshadowing is a point I dont like. Foreshadowing for the sake of foreshadowing for me is kind of dumb, there is no story to it.
I was rewatching this video and had forgotten I had already watched it! Rereading my review of your review, I think the point you made about the rival character does make sense, I do still feel like you analyzed this too much on a meta level though. Regarding what you said about Red & Blue though, and their final battle, I do think there is justification or importance to it. I guess you could say it is pride? I would not. See, I think their journey's purpose was, besides fixing what needs to be fixed and battling team rocket, to become the best trainer. Ultimately like you said I do think it puts a focus on the things they learnt from each other, however, who is the best is still yet to be determined. I don't think it is to brag or similar, but to complete their goals. There are probably things I wish to mention more, but your review is too long man! I am not sure I could watch all of it and still remember to point out the cool things and the things that don't make sense about what your sense (I think it is really hard to not make sense with this types of things, shows, but I am more arguing when you said it doesn't make sense, when I think it does)- and if I wrote it part by part I am not sure I would be coherent. I don't like comparing the things of the manga to the pokemon standards, because I would like to remind you there were little to no standards set in the first generations, probably, I would assume. I wouldn't compare it to other shows either, except for the pokemon anime, which is inevitable to look at side by side. I would much rather compare them to the games, and I find that it is outstanding and enjoyable to see the similarities with the games as a story.
I kinda get what your saying with the representation thing, but stories are reflections of the societies they are made in whether it is going against or reinforcing social ideals. I honestly thought it was well done in the video.
@@thomasffrench3639 i have to disagree, stories are a thing of their own. sure, they grow in a specific environment from a specific mind, but i dont think things are necessarily that way. i also find it annoying because as much as you say that, it was judged in 2020 with topical ideas of that time where the manga was made in 1997. think about things in their own context if you wish to do so, but that context isnt current day.

U literally had animes/manags of all girl teams fighting bad guys before pokemon was a thing..... like dude sailor moon was def a thing lol. Or card captures? The main character eas little girl who fought monsters! Like dude boys are way more violent/physical and or more athletic in general than woman in general so ya. No im fully aware that the scene for women in manga is way more robust than in the west just by virtue of having dedicated comics for girls be... a real genera that people care about and japan just having way more women in comics period, but when it comes to series or even media about....people getting the shit beat out of them and beating the shit out of others.... all genders seem to more or less like that equally but the scales are tilted towards the boys.

I do think its an issue that there are limited avenues for men to improve the way they look and some of those arnt seen as socially accetable and I think it is bad that we dont really have many romance series for guys. We used to have alot of that in manga and anime but not so much anymore. Rumiko Takahashi probably the most well known woman manga writer (for boomers anyway) made her bread and butter off romantic comedies that are targeted to boys

Woman whether they want to admit itnor not due to biological imperative are.attracted to power/wealth over looks.... my point is u can want it all u want, but there isn't a big enough market for it..... I don't know one man who isn't gay or extremely feminine (which is a very small portion of men) that will actually pay for a full romantic story with no action

Men don't use makeup because it makes them look more feminine in general, and women who are attracted to men don't find that good attractive. Whether pplbwant to admit it or not. FYI Shonen literally translates to young boy, as in their target audience. Saying a woman should lead one is like saying a man should lead Barbie

There's still popular Shonen with female main characters, like Promised Neverland and Soul Eater. The most important thing is the story, young boys still like to read manga with female main characters. Just like young girls will like to read manga with male main characters. Sure most shonen have male main characters but it's not the end all be all.
