@@HooglandiaPocket I'm just wondering about the cost to get all the good cards, you know? Like, what's the actual number? We don't know yet, but it's gonna depend a lot on how trading works when it comes out. No dupe protection is rough - saw some poor guy on Reddit blow $100 and only got Exeggutors lol. In the regular Pokémon TCG, it's pretty clear how much you gotta spend each year to stay competitive. The best cards usually aren't even that pricey, and most people just care about the competitive stuff for deck building anyway. I'm really hoping they'll make the basic cards attainable for everyone, and save the crazy prices for the super rare chase cards.... Might be wishful thinking though, in this economy
As a casual Pokémon fan and enthusiastic collector, Pocket drew me in on that regard. The gameplay loop is rather simple to understand with a couple of janky interactions tacked on. (Namely trying to move a card from a crowded hand to the bench) And card acquisition seems inviting in the early stages of starting your account as well. Leveling from versus battles or sifting through AI battles looks like it generates a fair amount of currency for pack opening. All in all, I am impressed. My only complaint is the clinical look of the game in a lot of the spots. A dark mode or some sort of lighting change would be great.
What i like from what ive seen so far is it feels like the TCG was at the start. It wasnt overly complex and felt naturally snappy. At least as a kid. Im sure Trainer card spam at any competition level was the norm. Using Oak, Bill and Pokeballs and such to sift tbrough the deck. But with attacls being straight forward and not currently being bogged down with an abundance of Pokepowers and such. Might be thebfirst time i find myself enjoying the tcg since the beginning and a few brief periods friends and i got back into the game just amongst ourselves.
Thx for the breakdown and dope to see u having a channel for this! Excited to try this especially with the state of marvel snap lately. I played pokemon tcg in the past so can't wait.
I'm really hopeful that trading is at launch or soon after and it keeps the game cheap. But as someone who's played card games for the better part of two decades, I should really know better at this point.
Great start jeff. I’m so happy that i’ll be albe to follow you on this game too. The thing that actually shocked me is that you can actually get full collection in such a short period of time. And also, the game seems to be f2p friendly that was the most important thing to me. I’m a collector in IRL of pokemon and this game having those unique and special cards, while also letting you open packs with a SIGNIFICANT lower amount of money that you’d use IRL is a wonderful combo. I hope the best for this game and also, today I’m gonna shop the season pass. can’t wait to ad that pikachu to the collection😍
Love this breakdown! I know it's a lot of work on purpose but your economy guide for snap was super helpful for me, knowing how much things actually cost, so if you manage to use some spreadsheet magic to make it happen i would love that video as well.
Thanks for the breakdown Jeff! From the games you've played I plan to give a try when it's released globally, tickets to New Zealand are to much for me. Looking forward to more gameplay highlights in the meantime to scratch the itch.
Basically agree with everything in this video other than the fact that even regular cards are expensive to craft. Hoping for improvements in that area. I do not want all the cards as a F2P but I do want to be able to at least make viable decks
I'm cautiously optimistic about this game. 2 months to get most of the cards is very reasonable, assuming they keep things more or less the same. Heres to hoping they go the SD route and listen to feedback and actively improve the game.
Thank you Jeff for bringing us this awesome 😎 content from NZ 😅. Yeah idk I’m like completely obsessed with this game atm. Sidenote-I think opening packs gives you crafting pts towards any card you want, so you never have to gamble to get anything.
As a Snapper, I’m interested in your Pokémon content as well and I’m looking forward to the full game. I know tutorial vids can be a dime a dozen, but are you considering doing one for Pocket?
I won't do a bare bones basics video because people should just play the tutorial which is very good. I'll definitely be covering high level strategy stuff closer to global release though.
The currencies don't look too bad from what I've gathered. It seems like the collection method for casuals is actually the best of these games. Gather up currency for opening packs that you convert into specific cards. I stopped playing SNAP because of it's awful insistence on random cards. Even their way to buy specific cards requires you to arbitrarily wait for the card you want to roll in the shop. YuGiOh is pure Gacha, no crafting. Every few months Konami graces players with a couple wild cards. For last year's boxes. First impressions make me think I could actually casually farm up a fun deck of my choice relatively pain free. Look forward to release.
i find the game to be charming which of course, it is pokemon, but considering the other competitor in the "fast card phonegame" is marvel snap, they feel very distinctive in vibe and not just gameplay. the monetization is very spread out as you mention, one thing to notice is how many have been rerolling their accounts to get more chances at the early packs and get a stronger start at the game, the difference between having two pikachu EX from the first 15 packs and just regular stuff can be significant, and some just really want a specific card
How important is deck building in the game? I feel like I see a lot of cards with big attacks, but I’m not sure how much synergy there is between cards. Haven’t played the TCG at all so interested in knowing people’s thoughts
I've been enjoying the game so far, but I am feeling like the game doesn't have as much depth as Marvel SNAP that I had been playing, but with the state of the Meta there Pokemon Pocket has been a fun refuge.
Does anyone know what the daily gift in the shop is supposed to be? It looks like we are able to claim it, but it doesn't say what it is, and then it disappears into the aether.
If I were to digitally immigrate to NZ for a month, would I be able to return to my original place of origin in the states at the global launch, while maintaining my NZ collection, or would I have to at that point choose between starting over, or living the rest of my digital life in NZ, with out an easy way to spend USD should I ever want to buy anything?
I could feel my eyes glazing over when it came to all of the currencies. I was kind of interested in the game before, but that just puts me off as it feels super predatory.
Great and tempestive video! Btw, the full immersive art cards are "only" 3 stars, making the Crown rares esthetically worse (and statistically rarer) imo besides the golden background appeal.
im not sure I get the hype... im hoping theres something good for launch because this is way too basic to have fun... i was hoping it would be like snap.guesssss not? like it looks like it will be cheap if this is all we will get at launch, but it just seems not fun? or skill testing?
I am soooooo looking forward to MTG:Duskmourn set coming out! In regards to the Pokémon digital TCG, I have no desire to play this due to the fact that the source material does not intrigue me in the slightest. Never been a Pokémon fan. Do love my SNAP and marvel though!
May the algorithm ever be in your favor
Huge fan of Jeff' Marvel Snap videos, so no doubt i'll follow his Pokemon Pocket channel
Lets hope that this pokemon game is the first in history that receives balance updates
That will be a huge question mark for sure. Hopefully digital only designs means they are open to text changes when needed.
GREAT start to the channel! Economy videos and deep dives will be super important for this game, I think
I plan to do a large series of intro guides for various topics close to the global launch. If you have any requests let me know!

My kingdom for a dark mode toggle
Crown cards are note the immersive ones FYI, its the 3 gold diamond ones
Enjoying this game so far. Looking forward to more deck highlights from you Jeff.
Jeff, you're the best on UA-cam in my opinion. Love your attention to detail and experience. Appreciate your content!
I hope this game is successful and has regular updates. Its nice to have a second option for a snappy mobile card game other than Marvel Snap
Definitely think Pocket being successful will push SNAP to step things up.
The games will have regular updates if the whales get bored.
Great breakdown of the base info and monetization. I agree that I hope it’s good.
Happy to have a game I’m interested in watching you play again after I fell off of Snap, keep up the great work!
I see jeff talking about games, i click like

Whether Snap or Pocket, Jeff has great informative and entertaining content! Definitely give him a chance if you're new!

Man, anything but returning to Magic huh :p
Even as a lapsed sub, though, still great to see you trying new things! Keep having fun Jeff!
I'm still excited for content and the global release!
I'm cautiously optimistic about this game. 2 months to get most of the cards is very reasonable, assuming they keep things more or less the same. Heres to hoping they go the SD route and listen to feedback and actively improve the game.
Oh my, Jeff will play Pokemon too, NICE!
This was informative and I'm glad your enjoying the game I am as well.
Thank you Jeff for bringing us this awesome 😎 content from NZ 😅. Yeah idk I’m like completely obsessed with this game atm.

Clear, precise, and to the point. Gotta love a Jeff breakdown
3:20 card 5 column is only adding to 40%. What could be missing?
Looks like the community site I grabbed from was missing the 60% two diamond.
Gotta love a Jeff breakdown Looking forward to more content and gameplay!
Sounds cool. Recently started getting into Pokémon tcg with my son, this could be another fun way in. 😊
Can't wait for my boys to be able to play this with me at global release.
Thanks for the pocket video!
Thank you for the vid! Always one of the best 💯
I was really looking forward to this game, but it will not be available in Belgium 😢
I hope this motivates Master Duel to do a bit more as well
Hoping the same for SNAP to be honest. More competition in the space is good for all digital card game lovers.
engagement for the engagement gods

I'm not sure i agree hitting double EX early is significant. People will always min max anything they feel is giving them remote "value".
Sad about some of the economy choices but those are far from a deal breaker! Looking forward to more content and gameplay!
Great video!! Been having an absolute blast with this game.
I got a crown Pikachu on my 4th roll, so I guess I've got a keeper.
How important is deck building in the game? I feel like I see a lot of cards with big attacks, but I’m not sure how much synergy there is between cards. Haven’t played the TCG at all so interested in knowing people’s thoughts
I'm a couple dozen hours in at this point and stuff have a list of things I want to try out
Good to know! Thank you
Thanks for sharing your review 😊
Will the free to play packs stack if you say don’t log in for a few days will I come back to 6 packs or how ever many 12 hour increments have passed?
They want daily logins so you can only hold two packs at a time.
I've been enjoying the game so far, but I am feeling like the game doesn't have as much depth as Marvel SNAP that I had been playing, but with the state of the Meta there Pokemon Pocket has been a fun refuge.
Sadly pocket has already formed an ugly meta of itself with mewtwo ex or whatnot.
Not much thinking when playing, but ill play it until live gets their act together.
Does anyone know what the daily gift in the shop is supposed to be? It looks like we are able to claim it, but it doesn't say what it is, and then it disappears into the aether.
Same thing happens when getting rewards in multiplayer when someone ‘thanks’ it doesn’t give it like it does other times.

It is not clear if servers are regional or global. They have said progress will carry over at full launch though.
Would Oak still be an auto-include if he only drew one card?
This game is going to make so much money
I could feel my eyes glazing over when it came to all of the currencies. I was kind of interested in the game before, but that just puts me off as it feels super predatory.
Definitely is, but that's also the norm in the gaming space these days unfortunately
Hey Jeff, long time since I've dropped Snap, this pokemon pocket can be played on bluestacks or something?
Have seen some people say emulators work, but I'm playing on a mobile device myself
Great and tempestive video! Btw, the full immersive art cards are "only" 3 stars, making the Crown rares esthetically worse (and statistically rarer) imo besides the golden background appeal.
Oh, thanks for the correction! It's weird that the fanciest things aren't the most rare.
When does this release?
Global release October 30th.
Thanks!
A comment for the algorithm.
I'm enjoying it!
Interaction!
Idc about the battling on Pokemon Pocket. I want it to just collect cards.
im a bit conflicted, its banned here in the netherlands, i want to play it casually, but i do like anti micro-transactions laws
Are all games with MTX banned there or is Pocket doing something specific that others aren't? I'm not familiar with the laws there.
@@HooglandiaPocket I believe they need to be transparent with pull rates to be allowed here
@@LoveAnimeLikeCrazy must be more than that. That is the law in many places these days and Pocket has drop tables clearly displayed in game.
im not sure I get the hype... im hoping theres something good for launch because this is way too basic to have fun... i was hoping it would be like snap.guesssss not?

@@michaeldudley3756 people said all these same things about SNAP to start.
Comment blood for the blood god!
" This mission does not have any rewards"
Ugh, I hate mobile games with tons of currencies.
Have you ever played pokemon card game?
Yes. I played the regular TCG competitively for awhile half a decade ago.
This is just duel links?
It's is effectively duel links for pokemon tcg yes.
i played 2 games during this video lol
I am soooooo looking forward to MTG:Duskmourn set coming out! In regards to the Pokémon digital TCG, I have no desire to play this due to the fact that the source material does not intrigue me in the slightest. Never been a Pokémon fan. Do love my SNAP and marvel though!
Not interested if they aren’t irl cards both as a game or collecting
Best stick to TCGLive if the boomer Pokémon TCG experience is what you prefer.
