- Tin foil sculptures are not only simple to achieve, and truly fun. They are also unbelievably sophisticated!
First off, who are we and why do we love tin foil?
We’re the Pal Tiya International Crew. Between us we’ve been sculpting for decades and have used every sculpting material on the planet. We just love tin foil. It’s pretty inexpensive, it’s easy to get and it makes for quite a sophisticated sculpting material. In fact, we use tin foil as the core armature for almost every sculpture we make.
Grab your favorite beverage, go have a seat and let’s dive into how to do foil art.

Best comment ever 😂
I was truly amazed by the versatility of tinfoil when I discovered its many uses. As someone who enjoys creating miniature objects, I was pleasantly surprised by how well tinfoil worked for my projects. It is truly a versatile material that can be shaped, molded, and manipulated in various ways. Whether I am creating miniature furniture or tiny food items, tinfoil has proven to be an essential tool for adding detail and dimension to my creations. The fact that it is easily accessible and inexpensive makes it even more appealing to me. I have also come across some amazing videos showcasing the endless possibilities of using tinfoil in arts and crafts. These videos have inspired me to push my creativity and explore new techniques with this versatile material. I am grateful for this discovery and I can't wait to see what other amazing things I can create with tinfoil in the future.
@@RedMinotaur808 thanks for your comment. We have a ton of stuff on this as heavy duty tinfoil forms the basis of almost all of our armatures for Pal Tiya Premium. We use it … a lot. We have a whole online school coming if you’re interested where we will be using many methods, foil included. You can find out more here: artfulawareness.thinkific.com/pages/coming_soon
Interesting to learn that not all tinfoils are created equal! And Kim's energy is as always so contagious!
Energy is contagious! Yeah if you try with both you'll see why we love the heavy duty one. It has so much more weight to it...
can I just say that "THIS IS INCREADBLY UNDERRATED!" 😤Super nice video btw 😊❤
THANKS SO MUCH 😍 for your lovely comment ⭐
I love the example build at the end! Beautiful work!
Thanks Bill : )
I have just started working with Pal Tiya and I love it.
@@luminousglassart SO FABULOUS to hear x
I like how quick and simple your demonstrations are!
blows my mind, thank you
@@allanpisula4125 we’re glad to be of assistance, 🤯 we hope your mind was blown in a good way 😁
Thank you so much! I've used a scrunched up ball to fill out heads when I'm using my polymer clay but that's as far as I got and this is a whole new level. I wanted to try a rhinoceros and was thinking I have to buy fine mesh to go over the wire armature and how do I close it to make a smooth body and it's not that cheap where I've been looking. This solves everything, no extra money spent and a whole lot of time and sanity saved. I was going off the idea but now I'm enthused again.
This is GREAT to hear! Wow, that's just so neat. Thanks for sharing your win with us. And if you want to put it outside at any point in the future, you can cover it with our sculpting medium Pal Tiya Premium and you'll have a very cool outdoor Rhino :)
I have no idea how you only have 300 likes on this. It's super well made, and you explain things so well! Thank you so much for this video
Tell all your friends ha ha ha. Thanks so much for this lovely comment!
Bless you, I’ve only just found your channel but it is everything and more, you are a saviour!!
Also, unrelated, but you remind me of my mother, who passed last year.. your videos are strangely comforting for this reason 💛 thank you for this and your talents
Firstly, we're so sorry to hear about your mother. Secondly, we are happy to hear you are finding the videos comforting. Thirdly, thanks for reaching out to us and letting us know - this makes us comforted too :) Take care and we'll have more videos coming this summer!
INCREDIBLE!!!
Thanks so much x

You are welcome. We have loads more tinfoil projects on our website too
Waw, unbelievable! Amazing. Thanks you so much.. i will like to see how you made a fish with this same method. And also vegetables.
Thank you so much. I'm hoping to use foil sculpting for model railroading

I make pumpkins for a halloween display. Thank you for all the wonderful creative info.
I have experimnted with foil. a little in the past but your info. will decrease production time for sure.
Glad to be of help. If you want to make your tinfoil creations last outdoors in any weather then have you ever considered using our sculpting medium on to of your foil? It is the prefect base for our sculpting medium Pal Tiya Premium!
Recommendations on hot glue brands for large scale outdoor project? Middle ground where costs versus quality intersect😅 In US
@@cherigriffith724 you mean hot glue guns or the glue sticks?
This is great
Why thanks so much!
I think you got a dragon confused with a camel. Still cool though
Tinfoil isn't cheap, but who wouldn't want a dragon crawling up a standing lamp in a corner. I've seen heavy tinfoil used inside clay sculptures. Have fun.
Thank you.......🤠
Bonjour ! !😍😍😍😍😍 j adore ! !! Ca tombe pil poil cette vidéo pour mon projet . Bye
c'est bon à entendre
OH! Thanks!
Hi! My name is Talie and I subscribed to your channel because I would love if you did videos on sculpting with tin foil. Mostly on maquettes (reference models).
Watch out for an upcoming video that centers on a cool tinfoil armature Talie :)
@@PalTiya Oooh! I will! Thank you!
What glue can little kids or seniors can use when they can’t use glue guns? Thank you
You can try something like elmer's glue but it may not stick as well...
Excuse me, is the shaping soil water or oily? Thank you
Our product comes as a powder that mixes with water to create a cookie dough like consistency. You'll see it here: www.paltiya.com
Is there a reason you don't use the tin foil that is pre-cut?
We just like the heavy duty stuff but you can absolutely use pre-cut stuff 👍🏽
I love to make stuff out of foil
It's so much fun! We have more articles right here: www.paltiya.com/all-things-tinfoil.html
👍 👍
Where can one buy large rolls of foil?
Costco
Awws. I thought u guyz wud melt it to use it as a casting material DIY. So that it would be more durable...
Our sculpting medium is as durable as most permanent outdoor materials. It is incredibly strong and has unique properties which make it last outside in any weather ... freezing to thaw tested! It is incredibly durable once we cover it with Pal Tiya Premium :)
Tin? They make foil from tin?
do you work at weta now or is that someone else lol
Our co-founder works at Weta sometimes. yeah.
You can't polish it to be smooth
Ime loving your large roll of tin foil, if only in uk 🩷🙏
You can buy this type on Amazon and Costco in the U.K. just search for heavy duty tinfoil - any kind will do, we usually use Kirkland brand.
@PalTiya
Thank you so much.
That's just what I need!
Hope you have a beautiful day 🩷🙏🧚♀️
