The first time I heard this masterpiece was sitting in the radio shack of my US Navy Ship in the middle of the night cruising off the California coast! Couldn't have been a better sitting!😊
Originally titled 'Bus riders in a storm', a mere scribble drummer etched into the seat of a tourbus during a long roadtrip to some gig,....seeing just some common folk in a rain storm waiting for a bus, while in a bus dashing cross country to the next gig. Upon sharing the insightful moment with Jim, the words began unfolding onto whatever could be written on handily. And now,.....we have this song. Way cool!

Can only imagine but this must have made experience this and other great songs like it feel almost unreal, like a miracle in a not spiritual way.
Brilliant
Without a doubt my favorite Doors song
Eh, I prefer "People are strange"
This is _the_ favorite Doors song... There is no better melting sound!
July 3rd, the body may be gone, but Jim will still forever with us
I wouldn't underestimate the importance of john Desmore in the group, i like his drumming
He puts a nice pace on this song
Greatest band of All time, PERIOD.
Yeah
the most mysterious and beautifully melancholic song ever.
I first heard the song on the radio while I was in a car on a motorway with my father when I was 5 years old, outside it was thunder and lightning and it was raining in buckets. However around that time I could't speak english, but I felt this mystical feeling and shivers went down my spine.Meanwhile I m 55 and it still feels the same. This song is not just a song,it is a revalation~[I was born on the first of december in 1966] Into this house we born.....Thank You Jim,Ray,Robbie And John🙏Namaste♾
The Doors were just hitting their stride. They would've owned the 70's.
unlikely
Agreed no rock n roll band had their sound, so unique
Would've been fascinating to hear what they came up with; Morrison's vocals were as strong as ever in 1971
@@thomaslafore-doc8992more like guaranteed. Zeppelin would've dominated the 80s had John Paul Jones not died. Same with Skynyrd. They were just reaching the heights of their popularity when the plane crash happened in 77
@@deanabaker4128 respectfully, you don't know what you're talking about
Who's here in November 2024?
Turned on the weight by the band and ended up here.
My dad had this on record and I'm a child of the 80's
Here😅
Listening to this in hospital while I'm in labour!
Meee
This band is so far ahead of their time that I sometimes think these guys were time travelers who cut straight from the future to the 60s and decided to form The Doors, so they made a deal like "let's try to play to their rhythm to don't scare them."
Also Jim was practically the blueprint for most frontmen afterwards
I’m Jim Morrison aka George Washington and I’m Jesus Christ ahahahh I’m really a time traveler ;)
My Doors are closed now what?
Impossible to not like this timeless Blues Rock classic.
I was Born in the mid 80s . There was a lot of original music playing at that time , but The Doors always stood out to me as the most unique- like they were their own genre
It isn't that strange to be a loner. It isn't that lonely to be a stranger either.
Shit I would say to myself homeless going across the country
It is strange to be a loner who is also an acid fiend, drunk and narcissist who threw it all away for more booze, more acid and just had to cheat and cheat until he finally needed Pamela but it was too late and now all the loner does is blame the heroin she was shooting up and giving him too while over in Paris.
Yes, it's a strange thing being a loner from Florida with a naval dad who never understood you so you move to sunny LA and do more acid while discovering film at UCLA and meeting your greatest friend who just happened to be this great, nerdy musician named Ray who carried you and your reputation even after you checked out.
Because you were a loner. And it was strange. So strange...
@@qwj68boots history is so rich
Amen brother
@@sethdominickortiz Yeah Man !
Peace, love, and happiness everyone. ✌️❤️
Certified Hood Classic.
How lucky are we to witness this collective genius. Think what they could have done given another 10 years.
Jim seemed to be a fat drunk by the end. He wouldn't have lasted 10 more years. But I understand your point.
@mattscott4382 Look at what they did in not even 4 years though. Look at the albums they put out and the touring and everything it definitely took a toll on Jim.
Jim forever!!! here 2024.
Deep prayers J.M 🙏🏽 fam 😢 he well live in us as true legend.
One of the top 10 songs of all time!
Pues sorprendentemente, aunque sea una obra maestra es y será una de las mejores canciones de la historia, pero no figura aunque resulte paradójico entre las 500mejores canciones de la historia.😮
Was listing to this just now; both my kitties and Boxer dog perked up their ears and looked up at the ceiling…they thought it was truly storming outside. The Doors could recreate nature so perfectly…wow!!
😻
Listening to this praying to the heavens as I put my hands up it went from sprinkels to full on pour in SECONDS I heard "if you don't appreciate the healing waters , you'll never make it out the storm" I waited I listened and I felt all my anxiety rush out me I didn't feel cold just peace and harmony. As soon as my arms went down 5min later the rain slowed until I got inside than BAM as soon as i started praying. God's good God's good gotta listen he's always knocking open your door son.
Just finished listening to the album for the first time. Easily one of the best albums of all time. My favorite Doors album along with their debut. Long live the Doors!! 🙏💗💫
Every time I listen to this masterpiece I have a goosebumps from beginning.
Hello 👋🏻 nice to meet you, hope you’re safe and well?
@@cheryldylan9506 hello there, thank you, I am good, how about you?
@@dafaceman2884 I’m very well thanks for asking, glad you’re okay.Nice connecting with you here.
I'm from New Jersey 🇺🇲.
My favorite part about this song is the whisper in the background
This Doors number is a true classic for eternity. The brilliant but tragic Jim Morrison had 3 of the finest musicians with him.Ray Manzarek RIP Ray miss you man.Robby Krieger great guitarist !!!!!!John Densmore one of rock music's finest drummers Those 3 just blended together so brilliantly. Their music will live forever !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was two years old when this song was released. Now I listen to it together with my two year old grandson. And he likes it, too
R.I.P. in France, Music lives Forever
Nothing like being 17 in the 90s when we were obsessed with The Doors driving in a snow storm where you could get away with swerving and enjoy being a kid
My first memory of this song, I was about 11 years old I was going to Cedarpoint Ohio with my friend’s family. This came on the radio and all eight of us in the car broke out in song. ❤I have loved the Doors ever since. 😊
I listened to this on repeat, driving for 4 hours in dense fog....it was chillingly awesome😊 Its the most played music track I have ever listened to. Jim Morrison and The Doors were genius❤
It shows the complexity of their music!
My older sister says I used to sing this when it was originally released. I was three at the time. Been my favorite band ever since.
One of the best songs of all time, everything about this song is just perfect, it feels like a trip in a misty and rainy day, everything is built so perfectly, a really trippy song, love it!!!
One of the most relaxing songs ever recorded.
This was his last song! They say he added a part of his soul to this one.
one of the most mystical songs the doors have done, especially towards the end, the storm and lighting puts you in a trance, always the doors, rest in peace jim, ride easy.
The first time I heard this masterpiece was sitting in the radio shack of my US Navy Ship in the middle of the night cruising off the California coast! Couldn't have been a better sitting!😊
Jim lives on, 2024❤❤❤
Still can't understand why didn't born back in the 60s and 70s, this is my kind of music
Technology brings you back...better than nothing; good vibes!
‘90’s baby here and I can’t agree more. I was definitely born in the wrong decade lol.
A great song with a story barely see that anymore
The Doors were so unique. Jim's strong baritone vocals ; Ray's keyboard mastery and covering the bass with his left hand on a Fender Rhodes key bass.
My absolute favorite song from the doors and one of my many favorite songs to listen to when I am drunk & stoned out of my mind!
Me too
You'd enjoy it more sober.....
And now,.....we have this
song. Way cool!
My late man loved the doors ,and this always remind me of him the doors ,Jim Morrison best band ever ,long live the doors ❤️
