Watching you construct something for your collection is always captivating. Looking forward to the next installments!
It looks amazing! Great job!!!
God, I wish that brand shipped internationally. I would really love to have that corner racking. I'm pretty sure there's no other corner shelf like that other than the steel wire ones. Really awesome and professional display, good sir!
That corner piece woukd be perfect
Corner racks like this just don't seem to exist stateside. 3 years since this video dropped and I've never been able to get them. The only possible option seems to be eBay, and the reviews/sellers leave a lot to be desired.
@@alanshmahlen21 it's on wayfair
It's $144 but wayfair has one for the us
@@imjustaperson8315 I'll have to give that a search. Thanks. Usually when I find these they're overseas.
Beautiful and the most safest display case ever !
this is absolutely fantastic!
Looks great - display cabinets are atrociously overpriced and expensive. I love your ingenuity and vision with this. Would love to see the acrylic attached next and you give us a tour once you fill it up with merch and figures! Definitely need a final tour video.
This was awesome! It really does look good!
That looks fantastic, can’t wait to see the whole display. One thing I do when I apply PVA to flat surfaces is I use a paint roller. Seems to work very well and there’s less mess. I suppose you could use a clean roller to press the fabric down too.
Thats a great suggestion and much better than my approach here!
That looks really good.
This looks so good!
Great video. Very useful advice!
Good video and what a gorgeous display you've made! I particularly liked the corner piece. Thank you for the great idea's. I've just started collecting and am looking to build a smaller display to start with to work with my space.
Awesome work on this video! Really enjoyed it
Love the content
The middle shelf is my favorite, since it looks perfect for larger figures.
It is a great space to put those. Glad I varied the heights to allow for that. I could have easily made them all the same height. Thanks for tuning in
@@JurassicCollectables Yeah, that Triangle shaped piece looks perfect for my 2 foot tall Omnimon G.E.M. statue. Plus I can always adjust the height of the shelves if I want. Don't know if I'll be using that in my mancave, but I hope I can.
well I made one. Bloody awesome video you posted. Am really pleased with mine. sourced the puck lights and fasteners and voila...done. Making a second!
I am so glad to hear yours worked out. I hope you enjoy them, as I do mine! Any questions do send a message
Hey great video! Looking for ideas fora large display design and this really helped.
Ah that's really made my day to hear. I am happy to report years later it is still standing strong, needs low maintenance. Good luck with your build, I'd love to see what you come up with!
¡Pretty amazing!
I have been watching many display videos and found this to be exactly what I want. Unfortunately this does not seem to be available in the states.
I'm really curious to see what it looks like with your collection on the shelf. I use a lot of metal racking for my displays now as well. I'm always looking for ways to improve it though and even make it more immersive.
amazing
Nice work I'm very impressed and I think it will be a wonderful display area for you. Would not mind having something like that myself.🙂
This is awesome mate, so simple and elegant for the use! I've actually shared it with the museum I volunteer at, they're extending and part rebuilding so it'll be a great option :D I'm gonna look for another video of what else you've done to it-backing and acrylic
Ah thank you! Please let me know how it goes - I'd love to see photos when it's done. Also here's the acrylic glazing video - ua-cam.com/video/J4PEEZYu1dM/v-deo.html
@@JurassicCollectables my pleasure mate. I contacted the management, was told funds include display cabinets but building work always goes over budget by a lot, I'm surprised. Anyway, she continued to say they may need temporary display cabinets for the mobile museum or something and said this is similar to what's needed, so you obviously did well conceiving and making these.
Watching you strip the plastic lining of the acrylic in that vid I was thinking if you remembered the other side haha :') why did you cover the display from the left where the door is may I ask? :)
@@clevelandexplorer2221 Yes fortunately I removed the film from both sides - its quite hard to see through the blue plastic so you can't miss it really. But I did skip both sides in the video doh! I covered the end of the display to make it feel more of an enclosed cabinet. I could have glazed it like the front but once it's stained I think it will add a bit of class to an otherwise industrial style racking... that's the hope anyway!
I tried to get one of these corner racks for 6 months, and it is just not possible to get it in the US, unfortunately. That said, I'm just getting 3 standard racks and I'm going to put backboards and stuff on them and paint them in order to make it look better for display. This video did introduce me to the idea though, so thank you.
a new shelf for your extensive jurassic collection
Rats, rats, we are the rats. Celebrating another birthday bash!
I will buy a normal display case in the future. I am currently trying to do seal Unopened Jurassic items collection.
This was great. I’ve started mine. Can you let me know the exact type of shelving carpet material it is? I can’t seem to find the same one.
Perhaps another option with lighting I might look at is drill a small hole in shelf boards where you want the lights and pre-lay wiring up and under the above carpet/fabric before gluing it down and out the back. I image the fabric is thick enough you won't see it under it.
Yeah thats a great idea. You could make your boards modular. The way Ive designed mine is to maximise dismantling, moving and rebuilding somewhere else if needs be. But Im sure theres a million new ways to attack each problem and improve on it!
@@JurassicCollectables I think I would use wire connectors so can remove shelf, and it just has a short wire hanging out two places.
Excellent video & explanation! I have been looking for a solution such as this, very handsome. Do you think it would be strong enough to hold polystone statues?
Great question - I'll be using it to support heavy resin statues so I hope so. If you think about it's purpose - racking is quite often used for heavy tools or equipment so I think it should do the job. If in doubt check the weight limit on the specs for the racking you choose
ive been getting used china cabinets for mine lol this is really cool can't wait for the glass instal wondering if your going to use hinges for ease of access? please tell us your total cost when its done :)
Good idea re the cost. I have been keeping a record so it will be good to share
I'm doing this whenever I grow up but it's going for my DINOSAURS and I might get sand too
Got super excited and wanted to get one of these, but they are not available in the U.S. 😐
Right, I can’t find anything like it
That's an awesome idea! Are the shelves adjustable? Can you purchase extra shelves separately? I'm redoing my toy room and I need shelves, I was looking at Ikea but it can get expensive.
I havent looked in to extra shelves but I guess you could if you contact the supplier! The number on display here is the full set included. With two at the very bottom for smaller items
@@JurassicCollectables Awesome, thanks :) I'll have to keep an eye out for those. I hope you are going to do a video of when you have your collection all displayed on them!
Now to add acrylic all around to dust proof lol
Thats in part 3! :) ua-cam.com/video/J4PEEZYu1dM/v-deo.html
This shelving could be perfect for my limited corner space I have for statues. Would it be stable with only bottom, middle and top shelving/frames?
Yes theres no suggested number, frames are sturdy on their own but I'd say bottom middle top is probably the ideal minimum!
@@JurassicCollectables Did you end up adding glass or acrylic doors? Couldnt find a vid.
@@supermankelly Yeah went with acrylic sheets, latest video is here for you to see ua-cam.com/video/J4PEEZYu1dM/v-deo.html
@@JurassicCollectables Have the 2 piece shelf coming Friday or Saturday. I want it "air tight" so no dust can get in and also so can't see the framing, so might try mount back panels on the inner side to cover them. If do Acrylic doors then will look into added door framing so cover shelf framing. See how it goes. Baby steps! I think yours works seeing the framing since its Dinosaurs so is like they are in dino cages. I'm starting to collect Comic Sideshow and Prime 1 statues.
@@supermankelly Nice! Id love to see results when its done!
Can you get this shelf in us? I can’t find it on Amazon
Where did you get the fabric from? I can't find somewhere that sells a large amount?
You want to do searches for "anthracite wool felt fabric car lining" those are the key words. Here in the UK you can buy it by the metre
Did you ever put those Acrylic panels on the front of the rack and the wooden panels you said you were going to be doing next? If you did can you share your results??
Yes I did! Video is here ua-cam.com/video/J4PEEZYu1dM/v-deo.html
Would this fit prime 1 1/3 scale
Yes - the height and number of shelves is completely how you build it, so you can accommodate any height within the racking upper limit. I see the Prime 1/3 scale is approx 105cm for Superman, the racking is 180cm tall in total, so you'd have roughly 60-70cm left spare.
what is the name of the fabric for the tops you used?
Its a woolen felt car lining fabric, in anthracite. Commonly used for lining car interiors or sound systems
@@JurassicCollectables where you can buy?
Can you tell me which glue did you used for this please?
Hi yes for the fabric? Wood glue or PVA. It allows adjustment while wet and then needs to be left overnight to dry
JurassicCollectables ok thanks brother, and do you think with velvet material is going to work the same
@@johanrodriguez8274 should be fine as long as it has some thickness to it. Perhaps test on an offcut first, and try and lay the glue evenly, dont use too much so it soaks the fabric. Good luck
JurassicCollectables thank you for the advice by the way you did awesome jobs with your cases👍
may I ask what is the fabric you used for the shelf?
Sure it's grey anthracite felt liner for vehicles and audio equipment. You can find it for sale on Ebay
@@JurassicCollectables thanks. I think I found something similar on Amazon and it also comes in Black
@@yauyuso awesome I hope it helps your project!
@@JurassicCollectables Thank you. I'm currently still sourcing out the materials.
Where did you find the speaker box carpets? I'm trying to see where I can find the best prices for these. Looking at Home Depot and Amazon.
The prices probably gone up quite a bit because I find the costs are a bit more expensive than I imagined. Namely the storage shelves that I am looking at.
@@yauyuso ebay was where I found the speaker fabric - but I can't find the original seller at the moment. I went for the speaker liner fabric because it was cheaper but still had a decent thickness. You want to look for racking - most brands will do but consider the weight of the objects you want to display. Most racking will hold considerable weight if constructed correctly.
can you make video with papo new gorgosaurus?
