I have ridden this board ( mercury ) and it is fun. But my only complaint is.. ya know. Lets say you are dropping the top of the resort and the top 50 feet is a bit icy, that early rise or rocker on those boards are not good for holding on ice and its sketchy. So as much as I like those shapes I always divert back to the traditional camber bc they are truly all mountain.. Just my POV.. great board tho.
Next time you find your self in that situation try centering your weight on both toes/heels and pushing straight down into the snow with both feet equally. Makes a world of difference when carving on a board with a rocker of some sort. We actually have a video about it here -> ua-cam.com/video/TJ8ZdWjNVWo/v-deo.html
The Mountain twin is a dope board too, we actually feature the split version in our "Splitboard Faves" video. Super versatile board they you can ride park-to-pow, snappy lively board with Traction Tech that rips into ice. SPLITBOARD FAVES-> ua-cam.com/video/79AXu7BAAbY/v-deo.html
@@thehouse Yeah I ordered the board and I'm super exited! Oh really?! Yeah I'll have to go check that out! I guess I just didn't think to watch it because I don't use splitboards lol. Thank you so much and keep up the great videos!
Hello I want a true twin board that can do it all like hit the park and take runs down the mountain with smooth turns and a catch free board any recommendations?
Oh man, there are so many good options out there to be honest. I actually rode the Chamonix Cornu the other day in and out of the park and it was a super fun board. www.the-house.com/chcm152280zz-chamonix-snowboards
How doesn’t the NS PS perform in the midwest with a lot of groomers and harder pack snow? Does it drift to much cuz of the rocker in the center? I’m 6’2”, 220lbs with 13 boots so have been looking at the drag free option. Any thoughts? Thanks.
It rides great anywhere. One of the biggest misconceptions about rocker dominant boards is that they can't carve hard and it's just not true. It's all about how you ride them. Check out this video for a better visual explanation -> ua-cam.com/video/TJ8ZdWjNVWo/v-deo.html
The gullwing bend has rocker between the feet and camber in the nose and tail so the tips are lifted a little. It makes the board not want to jump on edge all the time and feel more catch free. It also makes it wanna float better when you get it into deeper snow. Check out this Video for a more visual explanation. ua-cam.com/video/kHoFYC050cA/v-deo.html
What do you think about the Capita Kazu Kokubo Pro as an everyday board? I know its marketed as a Pow Board but I live in the East Coast and was wondering if the directional camber profile of it would benefit my riding. Kinda want some edge hold on the icy conditions but dont really like the Lib Tech boards. I'd say I'm an intermediate rider wanting to learn some tricks in the park but will mostly be riding groomers and maybe hit some side hits. Also want to learn switch this season (not sure if this board would be good to learn switch in)
As dope as the Kazu board is I wouldn't suggest it for the style of riding you are talking about. I would go with something al little more "all mountain" oriented. Boards like the Burton Custom, Capita Mercury, Public Dispute etc etc. www.the-house.com/snbd
@@thehouse i thought so. do you have any good All Mountain board recommendations for the Ice Coast from Capita, Burton, Jones and Bataleon as an intermediate rider?
Oh man, theres a lot of good options! If you want something similar to the Custom X you could try the Jones Ultra Mountain Twin, the Capita Mega Merc, the ARbor Wasteland or the Never Summer Proto Ultra to name a few.
I'm a lifelong skateboarder, do you think the NS Protosynthesis would be good for a beginner snowboarder to grow into? I've heard multiple times that skaters transitioning to snowboarding pick it up quickly.
I wouldn't do the Protosynthesis, it is definitely a little more aggressive board for higher intermediate to advanced riders. From Never Summer I would look at the men's Snowtrooper or the women's Infinity for a good board that you can start on but won't outgrow the performance of. The Raygun is a pretty sick board. Kind of that medium , easy cruising all mountain board with the biax fiberglass but has some carbon in it to give uou a little extra pop and stability. Comes in 2 different bends as well. The Raygun is a flat to rocker bend for more stability and the Raygun Pop is camber to rocker for a little more aggressive ride. The Broadcast is a little bit more of an all-mountain freeride board for people who spend little to no time in the park. The Nitro Team is a more of a traditional park-to-pow style ride.
I bought this season’s mercury to charge hard and spray skiiers in a full tuck. Can confirm its an amazing ride!
You should try the Mega Merc if you get a chance!!!
I like how the top of the conru looks, cool deisgn for that one
I agree, just rode it yesterday too, super fun board!
Thoughts on the '23 Mercury vs '22....Hover core going too be that much better than the '22?
Hovercore is for sure next level! Lighter and more damp but still has a lively feel and pop.
