Good old days back in the 70's used to change a clutch in a few hours, laying on my back with a M21 rock crusher on my chest . Couldn't do it today and I wouldn't anymore.
Been a pro tech for 25 plus years. Got my first clutch in a 98 corvette this week. Thought I'd watch a video or two to see what's what. Although I do have direct access to the gm official procedures.
This video makes it look quite simple.
What this video doesn't show you is all the little stuff involved in each step.
One does not simply undo the rear shocks and remove the rear cradle. There is a shifter to unhook first,brake lines to deal with. Electrical wiring along the torque tube. Suspension to unbolt. Removing the rear spring to access things.
After I watched this, then started working, I realized that this video is pretty useless.
Bro. I was thinking the same thing. It seems like a big 'Zoom' aftermarket China-man company clutch commercial. If you use jack stands, this video is TOTALLY worthless. The Corvette looked clean, but in their defense... Bolts weren't making friends with them, and neither were the cusswords being recorded. Lets be fair, fellas.
If you read this before the video is done, just skip on to the next one and save some time.

Appreciate the video!.... but nothing mentioned about matching the balance of the old flywheel & pressure plate to new. Could result in annoying vibrations and having to re-do!
While more difficult than some other types of work, this is something you CAN do on jackstands in your driveway. These guys are a bit spoiled. They have everything they need to make things easy.
Also, they don't really show most of what's involved in doing this job.
Shane Broussard I hear ya Shane. My throw out bearing went bad so I decided to replace the throw out bearing the slave and upgrade to ls7 clutch with a aluminum flywheel. I did all on jack stands in the garage with just me and Jesus. It took seven days but I did it.

Hi Joy the video I am looking at doing that job on a C7 are you guys never mentioned the shift or the floor shift during the consult so I’m gonna try it without removing that Thank you for the confidence you gave me and making it an easy job

Was you worried about the clutch hot balancing issue? Did you have any vibration issues after the install?
No mention of Pilot bearing replacement. Bet the pilot bearing is a pain to get out, and install with the tube and half a bell-housing in the way. What's a pilot bearing? :)

I hear you, but as long as his hands weren't greasy, will it really make a difference? Seems like the first or second take off will burn off any dirt.
What is the zoom part number you guys used
This video is very dry. This is not a step by step removal/install of the clutch. It is not as simple as remove and install!!
How much does a job like this cost??
Cheap shop + oem clutch and stuff =1200 bucks or reputable shop + performance clutch = 2000 bucks

@@roy-sr5ct a dealer uses a flat rate. So they probably quoted you 20 hours or more. It doesn't take that long. Go to a good speed shop and it'll be less than that

To get to this level and not rebuild the torque tube is a sin
A dealer or who ever at 85.00--100.00 per hr should do this job in 7 to 8 hrs...parts online are 5 to 600.00 for a ZR...These guys look like they did it in 3 hours or less ?

and now we are going to do something important (queue stupid logo and music)- this is why people don't watch the show..
