Usually those "most people" ate Americans. Sometimes I get so mad when I hear what they think about Slovakia and Romania too. But they usually do not know their own country...
I had a turkish boyfriend for 6 years, when I visited his parents in a tiny village in the mountains, everyone was really nice to me. I didn't cover my head and most of the time I wore jeans and a tee just like other young people in the village. And turkish people there turned out to be much more tolerant than I expected, they asked me a lot about our religion and never criticised or said that it was wrong even though many aspects are different. Even though we broke up, I still have a lot of pleasant memories of this place and people there.
I am Greek and I love Turkey and its people. Despite our political differences and our hostile history, I always have been treated kindly, and with much enthusiasm for my origins. I have studied the language for a few years and this has earned me a lot of gifts and treats from the locals. I always feel at home there because we share so much of our culture and here in Athens where I live, I frequent a lot of Turkish shops and restaurants :)
We need more people like you in the world. Unfortunately, there are extremist people in my country, Turkey, and in many parts of the world. I think the world is starting to become a worse place with each passing day.
I lived in Turkey and I’ve been to Turkey 4-5 times because I am in love with this beautiful country! I am Greek. I have never met more hospitable and kind people like I did in Turkey! The people are very modern, respectful and so very kind! I travelled to many parts of the world for 14 years straight and Turkey is one country that is engraved in my soul! It is one of my favourite places in the world! Thank you for putting this video up. ♥️
@@fffff3206 As an American who has been to many countries while a child of a member of the USAF and while serving myself in the USAF, I can tell you for a fact that the American education system is lacking when it comes to world cultures & geography. Prior to my first tour in Turkey, I thought that it was a burned over desert. Once I got there I was surprised to see trees at Incirlik AB (Adana area). In fact at Balikesir (my assignment, about a third of the way between Izmir & Istanbul) we actually got snow the following winter (I arrived in late spring). I so loved my first tour in Turkey, I volunteered to go back when my base in the UK was closing. Funny thing as a USAF brat & service member, I've seen Roman ruins in Germany, the UK, & Turkey, but not Italy (simply because I was never stationed in Italy).
*Because some foreigners are prejudice to Muslims, I decided as a foreigner to enter a Mosque as a greenhorn...and maaaan the men in there welcomed me so warmly, and were hugging me, and showed me where to do the abdes and what to do....it was so sweet and I even joined the prayers. I am still not Muslim, but I learned a lot about them. The Mosque was a splendor to behold from the inside and my feet sank into the deep rugs, it was fragrant with the scent of rose water. I received sooo much respect for simply showing respect for another religion's point of view as a non-Muslim pagan person. Afterwards I was invited to tea and meals. NOBODY tried to convert me or preach to me. They kept saying: **_"It is enough that you are acting like a brother!"._** When I had to leave Turkey, it broke my heart. I am not Muslim, but I have nothing negative to say about the Turkish form of Sunni Islam. They are very liberal in every way. I totally agree. This guy has never been to Turkey. I have visited Turkey for several times, I really love the place and the people. Unless you are a very rude, ignorant tourist, you'll have a great time when visiting Turkey, and you will understand that Turks are one of the most hospitable peoples in the world. Also about food: if you are into good, healthy, tasty food, be sure that nothing will be left in the plate! Well, maybe a little, because the variety of food, deserts and sweets is enormous! Greetings from Turkey. I really start to hate politics and the world when I see people like you. We eat each other's food, listen to their music, watch TV series and movies, in short, we complement each other, but our politicians create ridiculous competition and tension. Now both Greece and my country have entered the arms race. I hope nothing bad happens between our countries. I always ask God for this. Killing people is not the solution.

It's extraordinary how wrong they were on that. Good grief! I've been to Turkey twice and I'm going back again this fall. Turks are incredibly helpful, in my opinion. Of course it's going to help you if you speak some Turkish, but they're generally happy if you just try. If not, it's amazing what gestures and google can do. I lived in Turkiye for 3 months in 1985. All the Americans and British I met were shocked how much Turkish I learned. But all throughout the country, many Turkish people wanted to practice their English on me. I speak English and German so I was able to communicate everywhere. Best food in the world! My 3 week trip turned into 3 months. I went to Ephesus 7 times.
I lived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in the early 90s and everything they describe including wearing a hijab and not talking to someone of the opposite gender was true of the Conservative Saudi Culture at that time. I think they've made the classic mistake of associating Turkey with Persian and Arab cultures rather than truly understanding the historical and cultural differences.
Im Australian who has never been to Turkey. I do know however that even though in WW1 we were enemies. Regardless of that the Turks still allow us to visit and commemorate our fallen from Gallipoli on their shores at the place of battle. That alone tells me that as a nation they are decent warm and understanding people. I hope to one day visit Turkey.

It's really classıc thing to say but i have to. Our Great Leader Ataturk wrote a letter about Anzacs who lost their lives in WW1 and this is how are we looking to this situation. “Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives… You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side in this country of ours. You, the mothers, who sent their sons from far away countries, wipe away your tears. Your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land they have become our sons as well.”

I've been going to Turkey twice a year for the last 15 years. Most of the comments on the video are so wrong. I've never had a problem with eating during Ramadan. My wife and daughters have never been pressured by what they wear. I've managed , over the years , to learn some basic Turkish. The Turks loved my attempts at their language and would often sit with me to correct and improve my efforts. I love Turkey and I'm planning to retire in or around Fethiye. Fethiye is my hometown, I miss there a lot because now I've been staying in Boston for a while. What a perfect place to live!! Mid 2007 i was touring Europe with friends, we came across an opportunity to visit Istanbul Turkey. We were taken to Taksim where our hotel was. After resting, we made our way down to Taksim square which was chaos but a perfect chaos. We ate slak burger with the yogurt drink i forget the names, it was amazing. We sat by the busy road and talked to locals where i found out Turkey once had a woman president, and that their biggest traditional singer was a trans woman. At some point a fight broke out between some gangster kids that the oldies quickly broke up. we then went to a local shisha bar and got completely stoned on hashish, the bar owner loved us and sat with us all night, he was a legend. At some point, amongst all the chaos the ezan just came out of nowhere and was sung by a man with an amazing voice. The locals slowed their chaos slightly only to bounce back to their previous rhythm as soon as it finished. We could see monuments and beautiful architecture in the distance, and the street with shops bars and restaurants was never ending. The locals were amazing, they would force us to sit with them and drink tea and the food was to die for! One of the most beautiful gems in the world, a must visit. One Kebab shop owner, ran out of Chicken and offered beef kebab to me. When I told him that I don't eat beef, he called his 'arkadas' and got me a chicken kebab! We became good friends and he didn't charge me, I owe him one! Media portrays a not-so-good picture but in reality I found Turkish people very friendly and helpful to tourists. Also, it all depends on how you approach them. Lets respect their culture and the people! #can_kutas Wonderful job! Keep going.
I have been to Turkey a few times as a single woman and know for a fact that everything you are saying is true. Turkey is a wonderful and friendly place to visit.

Thanks so much for this video! I´m leaving in Turkey for 5 years and is a very open country, I never understand when people say those kind of things. My life in this country was and is beautiful and free.

I've just discovered this video now and my blood is boiling with all the misinformation people dare to spread. However, the way you calmly addressed everything and provided information made me proud of UA-camrs representing Turkey. Keep up the good work 🍀
I love your video, thank you. The Turkish people i have met are the sweetest and kindest people i have ever met. A Turkish co worker of my mine found out i was interested in Turkish culture and wanted to learn the language . He was taken back at first because i am Mexican -American but then i explained that many Latinas like my i started watch Turkish series and feel love them, wanted to really learn about the culture. I shared with him some of my culture and he share his. He also told me about a Turkish store close to my job. I went and everyone was so friendly and they thought was interesting that i wanted to learn about Turkish culture. I still shop there , my uncle loves the simit bread. I am going on my 1st trip to Turkey in August 2022. Im very excited im sorry that guy posted that video ❤️
Lots of love from ANKARA, the capital city of Turkey. Your comment in this video, where my country is deliberately misrepresented, is very nice. Please be my guest in August. You will see that my country and my people are unique in the world... distances are not distances... they are in hearts.
Such a great video. We went to Turkey for the first time 2 weeks ago and everything that was mentioned in the video was the complete opposite. It was such a fantastic country with great, welcoming people. We’re already planning a trip back with our kids. I swear I was offered more tea in the 4 or 5 days that we were there than I’ve had in the last 10 years. 😁
I've been living in Istanbul for two years and a half already.. and I can't believe how far is that video you reviewed from the reality here!!! I never felt so safe and well treated before in my life.. Everyone can dress like they want, and you can talk to anyone.. plus, I still don't manage turkish language in a good way, but I can perfectly make myself understood just by speaking English.. I am very thankful to this country, and I'm sad when I see that there are big misconceptions about Turkey out there
I've been to Turkey SO many times. Love it. Destination Tips are so wrong. The only thing I have experienced in Turkey I didn't like much is some unwanted attention (which is any attention at all in my particular case) with my clearly Slavic exterior (blonde, pale skin, light grey eyes). Guys would shout "Natasha" with me passing by, but that's about their personal level of education after all. IMHO people in 99% of the cases anywhere in the world will be nice and will politely tell you if you do something wrong. The greatest tip for traveling anywhere in the world is "don't be an asshole". Treat people as you'd like to be treated :) iyi günler :)
I am so sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, in the 1990ies, after the fall of the Soviet block, thousands of Eastern European women became sex workers in Turkey. And "Natasha" was the slang word for that. It is still in the mind of many older Turkish men. Younger generations are more aware and they don't share these stereotypes.
I'm so glad I came across your channel. I've forgotten how much I love Turkey and Turkish culture. I lived there for 2 years and Turkish people are the friendliest and most hospitable people in the world. It's full of history, great food and beautiful places. Thanks for this channel!!
I'm from Romania. I've been twice in Turkey, is an amazing country with healthy and tasty food, beautiful places, museums, very nice people, many lovely animals and full culture and history. I felt extraordinarily good and I can't wait coming back. Every weekend I'm going in North Cyprus, Turkish side. My life is there, I'm eatting there, I make shpping..everthing..😁. Also your Turkish language lessons are very good, very easy way learning. Tank you for best teaching..😊. Gabriel,
I'm a Brazilian who've been dating a Turkish guy for almost 2 years and I'd love to go to Turkey to meet this beautiful country. Even thought Brazil and Turkey are very distant countries, they share a lot of similarities! Just like most brazilians I didn't know anything about Turkey except that it was a contry with a big muslim population and now I'm fascinated about it and can't wait to visit it! Love this video!

Never mind what silly people spead about your country. There are enough people who know better. Anyways: It depends how the individual person thinks and acts. Greetings to Turkey from Germany! (Americans spread a lot of lies about Germany too. Their school system simply is a catastrophy.)
@@Freiya2011 yes, you are very right, but in my opinion, western media makes a special effort to this. Although Turkey is much safer than many countries like America, the media portray Turkey as a Middle East country where terrorist incidents are constantly happening, and I have never heard a gun explosion in my life. Anyway, Germany is a beautiful country that Turkey should take as an example. Greetings from Turkey
@@yoh923 I didn't read any reports of Turkey being "middle east" nor that there were constant "terrorist incidents". And I read newspapers, watch TV and am old enough to remember some years!😉 It's not as bad as you assume. Of course there are articles about Turkey but they deal with different topics. Have a nice Sunday!
I have had Turkish friends who were going topless on the beach. That was years ago, I don’t know now...Also, the rest of what he is saying applies to Saudi Arabia, not Turkey...Leaving food on the plate might insult the host??? No, that’s a Japanese custom...
Been to Turkey four times and it's like any other modern country. All the people are friendly. The ladies wear whatever they want. The only time you know you're in a foreign country, is when the call to prayer sounds. Great place to visit.
I like how he says : ‘ HMMMMMM…’ and stays calm and tries to explain while being very passive aggressive and breaking from the inside and trying to correct the video .. 10/10
Even if I am watching this video 2 years later, I totally agree with what you've said!! I am Greek and both Turkiye and Greece depend on their tourism! Let's make things clear, Turkish people are very hospitable and kind and will try to accommodate you. I had a great time visiting Istanbul in the past, it was both an exciting and a moving experience because my ancestors were from close places. A general rule for all of the countries is try to be respectful of the people, their culture and customs and all will be great!Peace and love to everyone!❤️

Good job brother. Great you clarified these errors. I've been to Turkiye and knew straight away that this was erroneous. I'm also glad the hijab ban is no longer an issue for women who choose to cover themselves. Everyone should be free to wear their preference
You explained these things so nice. I am a foreigner living in Turkey. Yes, it is largely true that people in Turkey don't care anymore much about the clothing of others. But I am old enough to remember that was very different in the past. Foreign women some 30-40 years ago could actually be shouted at for "indecent" clothing in conservative areas, and the glances were far from agreeable. Luckily this changed. In modern Turkey, and specially for the younger generations everything goes. One sister is veiled, and the other wears shorts. And they are happy together without criticism of each others.
That's what I was thinking -- the original video must have been made by someone who visited in the late 20th century. Also, a lot of ethnic communities tend to be a time capsule of the era in which their ancestors immigrated.
Haklısın 30 yıl önce şu ankinden biraz daha fazla uyarı vardı. Her semtte her kıyafeti giyemezdik.
Well done young man you certainly have a future in diplomacy!!! I am Greek I have been to Turkey quite a few times and I love this beautiful land and the Turkish people
I’ve been to Turkiye once and it was amazing. My honest review about this beautiful country is: 1- like any other countries, you might experience good and bad. Just stay away from any trouble. 2- the people is nice. 3- you will see cats almost on every corner and they are adorable. 4- you won’t having much trouble communicating in english in istanbul. 5- if you bargain, name your price. If they agree, proceed to buy it. Don’t leave since they already give the price that you want. If they can’t lower the price, don’t worry, they are okay. 6- some might takes your picture and sell it to you. If you don’t want it, you can politely say no. 7- as a Muslim, do understand that they have Sunni and Syia followers depending on which part of the country. As for Sunni, they might practice different mazhab. 8- the view is amazing 9- hot air balloon will operate depending on the clearance from the air traffic 10- find a hotel or airbnb near the city 11- some taxi driver might not agree to pick or send you if it’s walking distance 12- so many historical places to visit 13- some of the tourist attractions need a proper tour guide 14- some of the food is not having much taste, not that is is not delicious but maybe we used to taste food with with more salt and other seasonings 15- not all turkish working in the city. Some might be students form neighboring countries. 16- respect the people and the country 17- turkish are indeed beautiful and handsome. 18- wish to visit again. Love from Malaysia
Have been two times in Istanbul, and... I totally felt in love with this amazing city! I can clearly say that is one of my favorites! Hope to come back there as soon as possible. Cheers from Italy!

@@nikostselempertzidis8943 you're so wrong .. I grew up in a city has strict values (you can search on google Konya) and I can say that anybody can do anything in Turkey. The only problem is people gonna gossip behind you as long as if you do something wrong to our culture but generally nobody stop you to do but they're just judging by eyes. I'm wearing hijab but so many girls not wearing and only old people judging them about that on the bus or something. Just over it and don't give people false facts. Also most ppl let their daughters to marry foreigns (as long as they're muslims but it's also not valid for everyone)
I am glad to see the original vid has now gone. Yours is a great video. I used to live in a part of London where there were a lot of Turkish and Greek people from both Cyprus and from Turkey and Greece. They were neighbours and friends. But we often talked about the different perception people had of those countries, especially following the war in Cyprus. Some parts of the British press have demonised Turkey as a country over the years - almost a hangover from the crisis in Cyprus. In recent times, thanks to Brexit, those parts of our Press have lied about how much of Turkey follows Islam, and has portrayed that as a threat to the UK, saying if Turkey joins the EU, they would all come to the UK. It was vile! A complete misrepresentation of a country and its people. How many people outside of Turkey realise that it has been a secular state since 1928? Even though it has moved more towards Islam under some recent governments, which is a shame. I think all states should be officially secular. I think people who have never been there too quickly mix up Istanbul with Tehran, Baghdad, and even Riyadh, and don't understand how different it is. It is a little more understandable with people in the US. It is geographically a long way away, and has traditionally been a country living around the edges always facing inwards - hence why there have been some US politicians who have TERRIBLE knowledge of the rest of the world. But I see this kind of thing in the UK as well. Considering how many Britons take holidays in Turkey and eat Turkish kebabs from their local van, it is unforgivable!
I can't understand why people still do stupidly wrong videos about Turkey like u watched. People thinking Turkey as an Arabic country should watch this video! Thank you for this informative video Can 😊

@OTTOMANS PEOPLE Arabs are not destroying our culture, AKP and their politics is. Stop blaming everything on Arabs you idiot, what have they got to do with anything?? Turkey needs to provide for everyone (including women, kurds, alevits, leftists, lgbt & and other minorities, refugees included), protect their secularist values, and save the economy. That's true liberalism. Everyone should have the same opportunities and same rights, regardless of gender, religion and race. But I bet you don't want to hear any of that "ottomans people". People with your ultra nationalist mindset (mhp, akp) are destroying turkey.
I was born in Burbank, California. My Turkish father came to finish his degree at Cal Tech and married my mother (American). They ended up getting divorced after a few months after I was born due to a relative causing problems. I was separated from my father for 23 years. When he would write to my mother, the relative intercepted the letters and destroyed them. Twenty-three years later, my father found me (long story) and I ended up staying in Turkey for four years. It was an incredible adventure and everything stated in this video is true.
I live in the US and have been friends with a Turkish couple for over 30 years, Their family from Turkey has visited and I have hosted them. I was shocked when you played the "Do Not Do" list. Who made that video? 80% of what was stated is nothing like the Turkish people or culture that I have fortunately been involved in. I hope to visit one day.

In fact at Balikesir (my assignment, about a third of the way between Izmir & Istanbul) we actually got snow the following winter (I arrived in late spring). You just need to identify your destination in your map and see how much it takes to drive)- not all drivers, some of them do that.

I have been to Turkey about 5-6 times. I had several interactions with the local Turkish people. Almost all of them are sweet and helpful! People went out of their way to help me. Of course like every country some people like taxi drivers (not all) and some shop keepers try to take extra money from you, but it happens everywhere! Keep going.

I am so sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, in the 1990ies, after the fall of the Soviet block, thousands of Eastern European women became sex workers in Turkey.
Bullocks it wasnt different 30 years ago
Haklısın 30 yıl önce şu ankinden biraz daha fazla uyarı vardı. Her semtte her kıyafeti giyemezdik.

Well done young man you certainly have a future in diplomacy!!! I am Greek I have been to Turkey quite a few times and I love this beautiful land and the Turkish people
I’ve been to Turkiye once and it was amazing.
My honest review about this beautiful country is:
1- like any other countries, you might experience good and bad.
8- the view is amazing
9- hot air balloon will operate depending on the clearance from the air traffic
10- find a hotel or airbnb near the city
11- some taxi driver might not agree to pick or send you if it’s walking distance
12- so many historical places to visit
13- some of the tourist attractions need a proper tour guide
14- some of the food is not having much taste, not that is is not delicious but maybe we used to taste food with with more salt and other seasonings
15- not all turkish working in the city. Some might be students form neighboring countries.
16- respect the people and the country
17- turkish are indeed beautiful and handsome.
18- wish to visit again.
Love from Malaysia

I agree with you. TV series and one woman, from country whole language I speak, living and working in Turkey taught me what this reaction video says.
Considering how many Britons take holidays in Turkey and eat Turkish kebabs from their local van, it is unforgivable!
i know almost all people of turkey are educated and have clean mind that why I love Turkish people love from india 🇮🇳
