  • Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 Review and Tutorial
    In this video I show you the basic functionalities of the Vermona Perfourmer Mk2 and tell you about my personal experiences. I've been using this synth for exactly a year now and am more than happy about it. It might not be the perfect synth for everybody though, so watching this video should give you a better idea of what you can do with it.
    The review is more about my emotional connection and experience with this synth rather than meant to be perfectly accurate in technical terms, so forgive me any inaccuracies.

    Thank you Jannis. Great video! Nice slow, easy and clear explanation. This is what I am searching for a long time. A "intuitive" synthesizer without need to know all the hard-techniques. For me a disappointment of lots of - even "easy"- synthesizers. They have many posibilities to vary (to much?), almost a labyrinth, but as relative beginner therefor not my cup of tea. Your descripton in the beginning and also the conclusions at the end are very clear. So the Perfourmer could me the answer to my quest. Thats nice. I look forward to seeing more of this!
    Thank you!

      Thanks for your comment :) Yes, somehow you don’t find much about it online, but it has such a nice sound, such unique play modes and all of this for a reasonable price tag. It could easily be my desert island Synth ;)

    Ace. Hoping to finally get a Perfourmer soon after wanting one for years, so this was quite illuminating; thank you. It's like having your own synth quartet at your fingertips, which is so inspiring for melody work and complex arpeggios.

      Thanks for your comment! And yes, I really agree. It combines an electronic instrument with the spontaneity and interaction of some "human" band, I did not find any other synth yet that can do that with 4 independent voices, at least not in that price area ;)

    The perfourmer is my favourite synth, I can (and do) spend hours just noodling with it and enjoying the sounds. It's ridiculously versatile, I actually quite like making a really solid kick drum with these too. Great to sample. These have the nicest oscillators I've found so far.

    Hello Jannis (Γιάννις ;) Thanks for your video, there aren't many about the AudioFuse MK2.
    A few questions about it :
    - Do you know if there is a pass-thru when not connected to a computer but just powered, so that this could be also used as a very simple mixer ?
    - Is it possible to route only part of the inputs on the outputs ? For example send different instruments on each head-phone out, again, like would do a mixer with aux outs.
    I know it's not the purpose of a sound card but I see that product as a Swiss army knife so maybe they thought about those use cases.
    Thanks and keep up the good work with the videos.

    • @JannisLeWolff
      @JannisLeWolff  3 роки тому

      Hey Alexandros! Thanks for your comment :) You can use it as a simple mixer simply by enabling the direct/mix knob (latency free). I don't think though that a seperate routing without involving a DAW is possible. The software (Audio Center) allows you to do some settings and the device usually remembers those, but there is no mixer for sending the signals to individual outputs. Or there is and it is well hidden in the software ;)

  • @em-fs7rp
    @em-fs7rp 3 роки тому +1

    I'm convinced! Just out of curiosity, how does it perform as a 4 channel mixer? What can you make out of routing 4 external sources through it and using the filters? What creative capabilities do the ext in/vco out and out/insert provide? Just super curious :)

    • @JannisLeWolff
      @JannisLeWolff  3 роки тому +2

      Hey, thanks for your question and comment! Well, the external input section is cool, but you can basically only use the filter, add resonance etc, but there is no envelope follower. What you can do though is control the behaviour of the envelope by composing a midi clip that tells the ADSR when to open and when to close, and through that modulate the signal in some ways. I haven't used that function much, though. The VCO out is just for sending out the oscillator signal so you can modify it further with some other gear/filter, but I haven't used it yet. The Output gives you the chance for editing your performances in post per individual channel, so you can have 4 outputs instead of just the MAIN out (which can also be seperated in 2 groups by panning one group hard left, and the other hard right). And the inserts are cool for adding effects/filters for only 1 or 2 oscillators, like for example adding a reverb to 2 channels while the bass stays dry and the melody gets another effect. Hope this can help a little :)

      Thanks for the comment, really happy to hear that you enjoyed the video! I don't remember exactly, there were some additional screws, but I think they were for the wooden sidebars. Once I'm at my basement room again and have access to the box I'll check, but hopefully somebody else can help you with it before.

    if you plug into the insert /fx jack without returning the signal will it omit that channel from the main stereo out ?

    I bought one new 3 weeks ago, I knew about the CV version but wasn't expecting it, however my one looks like yours with the back panel showing cv ins, I thought it was a happy accident. Weird that they would have them showing without being real.

      I was wondering about this as well... Any time you see a MIDI version online the pictures show the CV/gate ports on the back... So, are they on there but just not wired in or something? :-/

  • @tendingtropic7778
    @tendingtropic7778 3 роки тому +1

    Great stuff, thank you. I was wondering, is this essentially 4 vermona mono lancets combined?

    • @JannisLeWolff
      @JannisLeWolff  3 роки тому

      Hey Oscar, thanks for your comment! I personally don't know the mono lancet, but imagine that the filter/osciallators have a similar sound from what I heard. In that case yes, it's kind of similar. Although with 4 mono lancets you'd have 4 independent outputs and could treat the signals individually in post. But with the Perfourmer you can let those different tracks interact through FM synthesis, changing the playmode or MIDI channels and using Panning. So it's way more interactive and sounds like a small ensemble (which is why I like it so much) that makes you compose music in a way that the instrument brings out its characteristics.

      @@pashimp Totally correct, thanks! I never used them so far, but the manual says its the unfiltered signal, so it doesn't go through the VCF and the VCA. I never used it myself though.

      @@pashimp Wow, thanks so much for your comment - this is completely right! Somehow I always oversaw it and just thought of it as the insert jack, but this is indeed a great additional feature for creative use! Thanks for this addition :)
