@@Kas58223 I actually don’t remember who said that but I heard during an interview that bodybuilders would say that you were always working in dorian’s shadow what ever you did and no matter how hard you worked you knew that Dorian was out there in that dungeon gym working harder then you.
@@cloudymindtv85 a lot of them said that in interviews about Dorian because the guys in the states would see each other while Dorian was in England so nobody knew what to expect when came to the contest time
They called him the shadow because he’ll disappear after he’ll win for the whole year..

As equal as what Dorian achieved in bodybuilding, the same can be said his training partner - he was one of a kind with that voice who would raise the dead.
Leroy Davis put more of a show on than normal for the blood and guts film. Dorian states this on a podcast which one I forget. Leroy only trained with him for a few years at the end of his career.
His longest partner was the black guy called Kenny in his older photos.

I met Dorian Yates in Sydney Australia once. He is a genuine human being. Extremely nice and he actually took the time to have a conversation.
I wish I had seen both Dorian and Ronnie when they were in their prime, but I did see Victor Richards in person and he blew my mind !!!
@@MrGf1968 I met a lot of pros over the years and all were real decent blokes but Dorian was something else. About as humble as you could get. He had time for everybody. Proper nice bloke. And yes, the man had an aura. Still has.
I was lucky enough to see Dorian compete in 96 at the British Grand Prix.
He truly was a phenomenon!

Great thing about Dorian is you don't have to be a bodybuilder.
Just have his philosophy and you will be successful in anything you chose to do.
True, i ran 3:38 for the marathon and was told only good runners can beat the 3 HR mark, literally a year to the day later i done 2:53, i was determined to show they were wrong

@@JayJay-sq6rv in fact, they trained together at an expo and Yates gave him some advice in regards to back training. Yates recalls: "Levrone showed up the next year with a suspiciously improved back". "I never gave anyone else any advice that's for sure, hehehe"
I trained at the old temple gym back in 87 for a while when dorian ran it,seeing him up close in the flesh the man was a beast,had an aura about him, definitely a man on a mission.
Dorian was the original mass monster, he moved the entire sport into the modern era and was as hardcore as they come. He inspired me a lot back in the day in the magazines and still influences my training to this day. #PBonXmas #nodaysoff #getterdone

I remember when Dorian was called "The Shadow". I saw a picture of him in a very early win of his and knew he was going to be Mr. O. Like Arnie in his era, Dorian had a physique that stood out amongst giants. Huge fan.

His back pose from the front never matched ever, total package and condition, but remember until you saw him in the flesh you've no idea how big he was he was colossal and shredded like a mythical diamond cut hercules

Good Afternoon! It’s about 04:00 PM here. I’m from Brazil and I would like to say that these videos help me a lot. Not only when I’m training but it also helps my mindset. I love this sport. When I’m training I feel so good. My words can’t explain what I feel.

Yeah, but should we thank him ? He was also the first Mr Olympia with a big gut later in his career, and set the trend for all who followed him. Hey, don't get me wrong. I'm a huge Dorian fan, and his '93 version is the greatest Mr Olympia ever seen on stage.
I've got the Ironman magazine with that years Mr Olympia report, and Dorian had a whole page photo montage, and every pic was astounding!! But the huge guts that followed ruined the sport, and necessitated the introduction of Classic and Physique divisions to get back to what the roots of bodybuilding were - looking good. Not just big - but good. Even beautiful!!

I had exactly the same childhood as Dorian. Even the same age when our dads died, i even had a pony like he did and viewed school the same. I also didn’t like people and focused on myself. Now I’m older and people still suck! Mostly
I think, Dorian Yates,made a granite statue,that is hard to replicate,, he's more famous now,than ever,,, Bodybuilding cannot be for the faint hearted, extreme discipline must be the key,,,like Rich Piana says 5%,,in Dorian's case it must be 1%..

@@jozefmikula533 I know about Dorian more than you for sure. And I know what he said about his genetics. You have to learn something about genetics. Genetics is not all.about shape and aesthetics, it's also about structure, muscle insertions, ability to gain mass and lose fat. Dorian was over 90 kg jacked only after 9 month of training, now tell me this is not the sign of great genes. It was easier for him to gain pure muscle and lose fat than most of his fellow competitors. Of course he worked harder as well but not only that, his genes play a role too
@@jozefmikula533 he only said that about Flex and proly Dillett...which were notoriously lazy in the gym.
We did see Flex at at least 90 %crushed in 93 , dont think a 100 % version would have changed the outcome
@@TheLusianPopa flex was only ever 80% of a prime flex at most. He had so much untapped potential .Dorian just trained 2x harder than everyone.

I don’t have the best genetics in the world but I will turn genetic decencies into a strength like Arnold did with his legs. Tom platz didn’t have genetics but I like that I do have a big chest and frame and will put on a ton of size and be a mass monster but have golden era aesthetics. Yeah bro we will combine the golden era and mass monsters. These guys complaining about bubble guts will be a thing of the past when Josh Peterson and whatever your name is will be the next Ronnie and jay. I will be like jay cutler also because he doesn’t have any health problems and I have more endeavours in life after bodybuilding like getting into movies and can’t be paralyzed or in constant pain.
