This is the problem on some wanabe reviewers. Lack of knowledge on how to let the viewers hear the sound naturally. Recording the sound via mic is garbage.
I'm glad this video went into depth on all the awesome voices available. How many of the voices have velocity effects like the drum hits or the twang on the guitar?
Thanks for doing this review. I also watched the one for the CTK 7200, but I am still wondering which should I get. Actually, I am also considering the PSR 363, because it looks like the key feel might be better. Honestly, I just want a keyboard that can also be connected to Cubase so I can record with my VST's, but I also want decent piano sounds to just be able to sit and practice progressions, theory, etc. I don't really care about other sounds or drums in the keyboard. I guess I'm just asking for your honest opinion. Would this one be a better pick among these 3 options? Thanks in advance and greetings fm Costa Rica!
@@gearfacts Gracias. I ended up buying a completely diff one, the Piaggero. There's no comparison to the feel of the keys. It only comes with 10 sounds, but the quality of them is way better. I can also use it as a controller with Cubase, so I can add an infinity of high quality sounds with Labs, Native, etc. I know the PSR 463 comes with a couple of knobs that can be used to control the DAW, but they're just two. I think the Piaggero works great as a basic controller to record on Cubase and I can also plug n play to study music theory with high quality piano sounds and great keys, they are not fully weighted, but there is some weight to them and they're full size keys. I think this might be a good recommendation for people who are looking for this combination.
@Gearfacts how does this compare with the Casio CTK-6250? I really enjoyed your review of that keyboard as well, but I was trying to decide between it and the CT-X3000. It sounds like the CT-X3000 might the better one to go with now (for beginner keyboard/piano learning)...?
@@gearfacts Awesome! Good to hear. This video on the Casio CT-X3000 was very informative as well. 👍🏻 I'm going to check out the one on the usability aspects next. Thanks again!
Looking forward to making them :) I still have to cover drums, sythesis, sequencing, PC connection and also a comparison between this one and the current Yamaha flagship, the PSR-E463. Should be good! Gearfacts
Hey man awesome review. Can you tell me more about the key action, how would you rate it? As of now I use a MIDI keyboard with semi-weighted keys (Novation Impulse)
I would rate it really bad... It's spongy, cheap, and not expressive at all. The only good thing is that it is mechanically quiet, so it won't annoy other people in the house if you are using it with headphones.
@@gearfactsHow can you say this is a great keyboard and it really impressed you and then say the key action is really bad, cheap, spongy, and not expressive at all?
i just got the ctx700...tbh i'm not blown away yet. ive been playing for years thru a midi keyboard, w/ a real recorded piano vst. just got sick of the slight lag w/ asio4all, and with using headphones. wondering if i should upgrade to the 3000...would i be able to edit a piano sound, as in change around the timbre and the softness and richness...or furthermore would i be able to actually load this vst onto the 3000 and just full send? definitely impressed w/ the mellow electric piano and the drum sounds though
I agree about the EP and drums, they are truly great. You can edit the sounds but not in the modelling sense as you describe - just basic envelopes like attack, delay, vibrato etc and of course effects. Nice effects processing. It won't hold a VST in memory though. How are you finding the keyboard action?
good review sir.i have a question.this keyboard have a style editor or making style? can i loading style, sound and midi to this keyboard with usb flash memory or connect to my android?
You can, but it's UNBELEIVABLY difficult. It's also very easy to lose all your work with one accidental wrong button. I'd only buy it for its sounds, not it's sequencing features!
Hello Gears fact, I heard that ctx 3000 is very difficult to operate it's functions. Is it true ? Would you give me info before I plan to purchase ctx 3000 ? Thanks
Very complicated. Not user friendly at all. I am very experienced with synths but after many hours I could not even perform edits on a single-track recording. Gearfacts
And I keep hearing the owner’s manual is complicated and confusing. Too bad for such a fine instrument with numerous cool features. It’s quite a big deal if buyers are forever trying to figure out operations. This can be a big deal breaker. ☹️
Hi I'm really interested in this keyboard vs the Casio ct x700. Do you think it extra price is warranted? I want to connect it to the Ipad too :). Thanks in advance :).
Good question. The jump in price, I think, is exactly proportional to how much extra you get. I especially like the monophonic synth sounds on the 3000. And there are simply more voices to choose from. You've gotta have a pitch bend wheel though, so at least go for the 800. Good luck! Gearfacts
I'd go in the middle and get the CT-X800. It's $50 more than the 700 but it has a couple of nice extra features and it has most of the great sounds of the 3000. That's my opinion anyway :) Gearfacts
The Casio keys are actually very quiet. Personally I don't like the way that they feel, but if you want a quiet mechanism then it should be pleasing for you.
I always thought Casios were bad, and gonna be honest - nothing I've seen of CT-X, the WK or the MZ-X has changed my mind. I think they all sound comparable but somewhat inferior to the PSR-E line of Yamaha's. Which is understandable given the price point, but yeah - even the PSR-SX600 is considerably more expensive than any of Casio's top models, and the tone quality does reflect that. I'd in all honesty pick up an E-473 over this thing or any of their other top models. Also what's curious, they've silently retired the MZ-X500 for some reason - you can still find evidence of its existence online, but most shops have chosen not to carry it for some reason, no idea why. I'd really like to see a comparison of the CT-X, WK and MZ-X series sometime, as I still kinda fail to grasp what the differences between them are supposed to be - they're all arrangers after all. Maybe think about doing a comparison video of these? I'll admit that the amount of functions is pretty awesome though, that's the saving grace of these keyboards. But when all is said and done, tone quality is paramount.
That is s good idea for a video! I did make a video about Casio’s evolution with its keyboards but that was a bit more general in nature. As for my current favorite : I still fine the PSR-E463 to be the most fun (personally I put ‘fun’ as my top criteria, with sound quality second and physical quality third)
@@gearfacts Yep, I just dusted off (a bit) my E-423 and it's an amazingly fun keyboard still. But yeah, it'd be great to get a comparison video of those 3 lines of Casio, not just the sounds but also what features are different
@@SaturnineXTS Hmm, it's an interesting but complex idea for a video, there'd be a lot to cover. Casio have thoroughly re-invented their keyboards many times. I'll give it some thought :)

I have heard this keyboard. The sound on the video is misleading: the real sounds are magnificent.
Yeah I didn't have much gear for making videos at the time. I think I was quite clear about how impressed i was with the sounds though :)

Nice review of sounds beyond (just) pianos.

I have the CTX 5000 phenomenal keyboard, I gave more fun with this than my more expensive tyros 3...
Ahh the deluxe version!
I'm glad this video went into depth on all the awesome voices available. How many of the voices have velocity effects like the drum hits or the twang on the guitar?
I couldn't give an exact number sorry, but maybe about half of them them change in timbre as the velocity increases.
This one great keyboards and a fantastic price.🎼🎼🤗
Yep the AiX sound system was a huge leap forward for home keyboards. The other brands will have to up their game in order to compete :)
