That 13 year olds first run was insane that should be 1st place by far.. kid nailed it!

A lot spinning but no flip trips. Gotta flip your board and grind to win. Airs, spins, flips, grinds, inverts, style-you need it all to win.
I'm so happy to see Buck still hammering on the coping. Grew up watching him, Hawk, the rest of the Bones Brigade, and of course Mullen. It's bittersweet to see all but one of them in these comps, but it's also so awesome to see how skating has evolved. Just complete love for this sport.

Bucky is forever an OG in my heart. THPS 1 and beyond. Love seeing this guy still doing it. To anyone asking why....? You do something for 32 years straight and try to stop.....its in your blood. Its your very dna!
Bucky was always my favorite vert skater in the THPS series. Dudes been killing it for so long and not to mention his rally racing!
this is so much more fun to watch on this ramp. Love the change in transition and getting to see each skater approach it differently. I think this may make vert have a resurgence adding variation and size into the contest.
Imagine winning with a poorly done 180 crooked and a missed 180 5-0 against a kid that does a 900, flip body varial 540 and a 720 in the same run.. and people complain about street league judges :D

God, thank you. I'm like what about Jimmy Wilkins run is impressive? It was all basic tricks. The kid had the best 2 runs by far . Poor kid got robbed. And it's not like there many of these comps like there are street comps . For as long as vert has been around , you'd think there would be better judging .

Agree jimmy is silky smooth but look at how many basic airs he does. Mitchie should of won.
I miss the classic X-Games they just had a bigger feel to it back then. Sal Masekela was just a better hype man on commentary. Dudes pulling the 900 like its nothing nowadays. I remember Skate best Trick in 1999 watching history when Tony Hawk just kept tryin n tryin n finally pulled it off. N I don't wanna hear any "oh but it wasn't clean he caught himself with his hand" cuz Tony doing it that day showed everyone it was possible n that's how the sport was able to progress into what it is today. Just like many other tricks he pulled in vert...who knows if there was no Tony Hawk maybe nobody would of thought to Ollie into an air n would still be just pumping into an air out lol.
I miss Sal as well. He did a really great job at commentary and just giving you a great perspective at each event. As for the current product it's not just the X-Games but the way sports are now. NBA is more about the 3 ball, baseball isn't about small ball but the long ball and the NFL is about dusk threat QBs and spread offense. Our culture is more fast past as well. Seeing Bucky being real technical and using lip tricks grinds and other transition tricks to make his runs smooth is something I like seeing more than a 900 or a 1080 being thrown down. Not that I don't enjoy it but when it's used over and over again it loses is value in a comp. It's just the nature of the sport, it's always down to progression and how far the athletes can set the bar. It's still an enjoyable product but I get where you are coming from. Hopefully the crowds are back and this can be held live in person once again. I used to go all the time when they were held here in Los Angeles.
I thought Sal Masekela was and EXCELLENT Host. I was actually kinda sad when he switched to do Red Bull Signature Series on NBC. He had allot of emphasis and excitement in his voice and energy while commentating. They did have this other guy by the name of Corbin Harris who's a Pro Skateboarder who I thought was allot like Sal and would've thought it would have been great if they got him as the official host when Sal went on to work with The Red Bull Signature Series and NBC. I'm glad to see they got a Pro Skateboarder Commentating alongside Brandon Graham since when there's a Pro Skateboarder Commentating I find it's better to watch as a fan, since they've competed in Pro Contests themselves.
Imagine Tony Hawk bak in the day trying to pull that off without a crowd like today's xgames, just quiet dead air in the background... @XGames BRING BACK LIVE CROWDS!!!

Great contest overall love watching Gui and Mitchie and the home court boy Elliot as well as the other skaters great to see Bucky back skateboarding it’s so good thank you for uploading this I so appreciate it.
Definitely see a lot of judges favoriting certain skaters in all skateboard events definitely trash judging but I’ve always watched for the talent on the course not the never have beens on the sidelines

They have to pay the athletes so that TV network money is a big hit! Hopefully things get better.
Cuz they even live stream all the overseas X Game events that's not nationally televised like the Chiba one so it's weird.

It has taken about 35 years for the average pro skater to skate at the same level Tony Hawk was skating at back in the early 90's. I loved how Bucky just comes in there and shows them how it's done by a pro. One of my favorites.
Hawk in the early 90's was better than this, though, but that was before kickflips came into contest-runs ...

I was just thinking that he looks a lot like Johnny Knoxville, like they could be related, brothers or cousins or something. And also Ronnie Gomes reminds me of Bob Burnquist.
Without the HYPE of the crowd and "official feel" of the course, i feel xgames is loosing its wow factor. growing up I used to enjoy xgames over any other sport on tv but now Woodward events seem more hyped & enjoying to watch. Don't get me wrong, i love what the contestants are doing, it just doesn't have that pro-vibe anymore imo.

That speaks volumes to how talented he is. When you can take the hype out of a trick it forces everybody to look for new ways to push the envelope.

Gui is amazingly talented considering his age, but he has a few things to learn as far as behavior, so I think the judges are trying to humble him a bit.
