  • This week's Oban Times carries sad news about the tragic death of well-known Obanite The Doc -Douglas Macarthur. Police are still appealing for information on the incident that happened in George Street on June 27. Our sympathies go out to his family, friends and everyone affected.
The housing future for Coll is looking brighter after an incredible offer by the couple who run the island's award-winning hotel, Oban whisky was used to name the town's new lifeboat and eight new directors will be leading The Rockfield Centre into its next exciting chapter. In other news, Dalmally Police Station will be up for sale soon and Oban Lions are looking for teams to take part in this year's raft race later this month. Manran's Gary Innesand Ewen Henderson were in town this week to launch the jam-packed fringe programme for October's Royal National Mod with help of the world's first Makaton signing Gaelic choir and rescue dogs in the Oban area are in need of volunteers to take them walkies.
