i recommend to 7k begginers to play higher stars maps in half time, this is because in that maps you will find patterns that you will never find in lower stars maps, so you can start adapting to more difficult patterns. Half time is used because obviusly you wont be able to beat a high stars map in normal, so with half time you can start doing that harder patterns slow to learn how to correcly do them, and then when you have learned that patterns you can increase the speed. sorry if my english is bad, its not my main languaje

Ive friended you on osu and ive been trying to snipe your scores and its helped me get much better accuracy and hitting the correct keys, i can comfortably play low 3 stars but s rank like 2.6
Ive been a 7k player for about 3 years. (Havent played in months) but i got up to 3.5ish. The leap from high 2 star to 3.5 is huge. Maps get really dense really fast and you are almost always holding 1 or 2 keys by that point
For the time you've spent so far, you've definitely made more progress than most people, probably down to past 4k experience and stuff :P LN maps are usually waaay harder in 7k compared to other modes, but the difficulty scaling is a bit off: There's a 4* LN map that Jakads said was more around 6.5-7, so if you're doing a bit worse on the Ln maps at the same difficulty it's normal Super hyped to see you get into 7k tokaku, best of luck in the grind :3

Hey! I believe there's a mid whick allows you to change the number of keys. Its in the same section as relax but I don't know if there's a 7k but if there is you're welcome.
I started getting into mania when I was 16 and now 4 years later, i'm playing it again and Im slowllllllyyyy getting past the 3-4* barrier but still barely. I wish maps with newer patterns was easier to find
Actually, instead of this channel turning into FNF channel, it actually turns into rhythm game channel and focused every rhythm game instead of just focusing on osu! Yooo im also learning 7k, leets gooo! I read in a random forum post that its better to get used to 6k first to then go for 7k so im playing 6k to get used to using the ring fingers and 5k to get used to using the thumb, i think its working but since i havent actually played 7k yet i dont really know
I started playing and I found myself reading and tapping the keys relative to the previous one instead of reading the colour. So this sometimes led to me misreading the relative distance and mess up the rest of the notes until edge notes appear. How do I stop that?
oh my, I have no idea. I think I got over this back then by playing around with the scroll speed, where it's fast enough that you'd stop comparing notes but slow enough for you to read the colours instead
try to colour the 3113/1357 lanes in a lighter colour, you'll memorize the lighter lanes are used for index and ring finger, and the other lanes for thumb and middle finger. as you progress, once you get used to it, lower the contrast between the two lanes, repeat until you don't need it anymore.
The spacing between notes is usually what you use to determine which to hit when you begin with. Yeah reducing scroll speed is definitely a good idea, and you'd probably get used to spacing subconsciously with time, so you'll grow accustomed to the note locations for your skin. If you're finding it hard to read colours, try a skin with stronger colours, and definitely have a unique one for space bar :) Best of luck :D
I am rather new to 7k, I was on and off for a while, but really started trying a couple days ago and started being able to do 3 stars. I'm rather conflicted however, because I don't see any other 7k players use upscroll, or even circles like I do. I'm not sure if i should switch to downscroll early and just learn it that way.

My keyboard doesn't have that key unlocking technique (which I forgot the name of) so I'm scared to play 7k because it might prevent me from hitting more than 4 keys at places and that's not ideal. I have no issues with 4k though.
The problem I have right now in progressing is a massive skill plateau. "Play more" is all I get as an advice. It's true and it's annoying, because I might have been playing more that aren't helpful to improve at all.
